RAPID CITY, S.D. —A woman who previously had kidney stones went to the hospital for help for pain and got more than she could ever have imagined.
Dannette Giltz told KOTA-TV she went 34 weeks without knowing she was pregnant.

School to Reinstate Dean Demoted to Gym Teacher After Being Called to Active Duty
U.S. Department of Justice officials say the Warren County Schools have agreed to reinstate a military reservist as dean of students at Warren County Middle School.
The decision settled a lawsuit the Justice Department filed on behalf of U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Dwayne Coffer, alleging that school-district officials had illegally taken away Coffer's job in the summer of 2017 while he was on active duty in the reserves.

Air Force completes A-10 re-winging to keep iconic aircraft flying into 2030s
The iconic A-10 Thunderbolt II will be flying into the late 2030s thanks to a re-winging project completed by the U.S. Air Force.
Air Force Materiel Command said in a press release on Monday that 162 A-10s received new wings thanks to a $1.1 billion project that began in 2011.
The contract, awarded to Boeing in 2007, required the creation of new parts for the plane’s fuselage.
“At the end of the program, making sure we had all the pieces and parts that we needed to make that happen required a really significant team effort,” said Stephen Zaiser, director of the 571st, Air Force Times reported Tuesday. “I think the fact that we produced the aircraft so successfully is a testament to the whole team, the special program office, Boeing and others that were a part of making it all work.”
The “low and slow” flying Warthog — along with the “BRRRTTTTT!” noise made by its 30mm GAU-8/A cannon — has been a favorite of ground troops since the 1970s, although budget battles related to the F-35 stealth fighter in recent years almost forced the aircraft into retirement.

Among the cache of information is a list of sites that Google has blacklisted with an algorithm developed to alter users' search results. American Thinker is one of them.
It wasn’t easy for Vorhies to break away from his lucrative Google salary and come forward with the trove of information that shows a huge political bias by his former employer. MARYLAND TO IMPLEMENT LGBTQ CONTENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ CURRICULA
Maryland public school history teachers will add LGBTQ content to high school curricula during the coming years, a lawmaker said.
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) agreed to add “expectations” and implement new standards for high school U.S. history curricula, according to WUSA9. The changes are expected to be made in 2021 or 2022, the publication reported.
“When we’re teaching history, we want to make sure we teach all of history, and our history the way we teach it has traditionally left out a lot of Americans,” Montgomery County Democratic state Del. Eric Luedtke said, according to WUSA9. Luedtke said school districts will decide on specific lessons.

Mount Airy Police Department is the first in Maryland to launch “CrimeWatch”
MOUNT AIRY, Md. (WDVM) — The Mount Airy Police Department is launching a new platform called CrimeWatch. This platform originated in Pennsylvania and provides a secure network that helps law enforcement manage and publicize sensitive criminal justice information to the community.
“I know through my previous experience as a chief in the Pennsylvania area have done good things with the crime watch program there and it’s having a lot of success and I want to bring that success to our department and the state of Maryland,” Doug Reitz said, the chief of the Mount Airy Police Department.
Chief Reitz says right now, his department uses Facebook as their primary source to inform the public. He says this new platform will enhance its community outreach.
“Mug shots from arrests, any type of incidents that the police are involved in, anything that’s newsworthy, camera registry you can use it for bike registration, a bunch of different things,” Reitz said.

From dousing police with water to doxxing immigration agents to attacking detention centers, it’s been a long, hot summer for law enforcement, and the inflammatory political rhetoric on the left isn’t helping.
Four Immigration and Custom Enforcement facilities have come under siege in the last month, most recently the Tuesday shooting at the field office in San Antonio, Texas, as Democrats upped their attacks on the administration’s immigration policies with blasts at “concentration camps,” “Gestapo tactics,” and “children in cages.”
Daniel Bible, ICE San Antonio field office director, was quick to connect the dots, saying the “disturbing public discourse shrouds our critical law enforcement function and unnecessarily puts out officers’ safety at risk.”
“Political rhetoric and disinformation that various politicians, media outlets and activist groups recklessly disseminate to the American people regarding the ICE mission only serve to further encourage these violent acts,” said Mr. Bible in a Tuesday statement.
Similarly, Rep. Tom Reed, New York Republican, blamed the incendiary political climate for fueling locals caught on video soaking New York City police officers with water — and throwing a bucket at one — prompting him to call for a federal hate-crimes investigation.

But the San Francisco federal appeals court for the 9th Circuit on Friday ruled that the injunction imposed by the California federal judge can only apply in states within the court’s jurisdiction in the western U.S. The ruling says that the court failed to discuss why a nationwide injunction was necessary to remedy the harm alleged by those immigration advocacy groups named in the lawsuit.

A federal judge ruled Thursday that Georgia’s electronic voting system is defective, vulnerable to a foreign government’s hacking, and cannot be used in the 2020 elections.
Judge Amy Totenberg, an Obama appointee to the Northern District of Georgia, ordered the state to stop using its current electronic voting machines by next year’s primaries and demanded officials clean up voter registration databases to ensure eligible voters aren’t shut out of casting ballots.
Georgia was already moving to replace its old system, but the judge’s ruling says it cannot keep the old methods around as a backup should the state fail to transition fast enough.
The ruling also marks the deepest the federal judiciary has delved into trying to shore up American elections systems in the wake of Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 campaign.
“Georgia’s current voting equipment, software, election and voter databases, are antiquated, seriously flawed, and vulnerable to failure, breach, contamination, and attack,” Judge Totenberg wrote in her 153-page ruling.

Poll: Half of Hispanic Americans Approve of Trump Following ICE Raids
After the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency raided multiple Mississippi food processing plants for hiring illegal alien workers, President Trump’s support among Hispanic voters has remained solid and a record total of black Americans now support him.
Last week, ICE agents conducted the largest workplace raid in more than a decade across seven food processing plants in Mississippi, netting the arrests of 680 illegal aliens. That same day, though, ICE officials said they released about 300 of the illegal workers back into the U.S. on “humanitarian grounds.” More than 200 of the illegal workers had prior criminal records.
The latest Zogby Analytics poll, conducted days after the highly-publicized ICE raids, finds that about 49 percent of Hispanic Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president. Another 51 percent said they disapprove.
Meanwhile, Trump’s support among black Americans has surged.

Several high-profile Senate Democrats warned the Supreme Court in pointed terms this week that it could face a fundamental restructuring if justices do not take steps to "heal" the court in the near future.
The ominous and unusual warning was delivered as part of a brief filed Monday in a case related to a New York City gun law. Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., referenced rulings by the court's conservative majority in claiming it is suffering from some sort of affliction which must be remedied.
"The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it," the brief said. "Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be 'restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.'"

8,000 Maryland drivers could lose licenses during next traffic stop
As Maryland works to meet a 2020 deadline to comply with the federal Real ID law, the state has recalled the licenses of 8,000 people.
For those people, being pulled over for any reason could now lead to their licenses being confiscated.
“Those customers have received at least six notices,” said Chrissy Nizer, director of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.
The 8,000 drivers were among the first 80,000 to be notified about the state’s need to see additional identifying documents, so that licenses are compliant with the federal government’s tightened security requirements. In all, 780,000 drivers were identified as lacking proper documentation for proof of age and identity, Social Security number and Maryland residency.

Federal judge rules against Maryland over obvious vote fraud potential
Those Democrats who keep telling us that vote fraud is rare and insignificant fight like hell to make sure the evidence remains buried — even when there are obvious danger signs such as exists in Montgomery County, Maryland, where there are more registered voters than resident citizens.
You might think officials would be anxious to find out why that is and would be eager to clean up their voter rolls. Certainly, any officials that cared about the integrity of the vote would want to ensure that malefactors would not be able to pick up ballots and vote them (as the practice of "vote harvesting" permits).
But for reasons only they can explain, Maryland officials fought in federal court to prevent Judicial Watch from obtaining voter data lists.
And they got skunked.

We may not be at the stage Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., would advocate, but more millennials appear to favor a system under which they have never lived. Free stuff is appealing until one realizes its costs.
In an attempt to reach Generation Z—those in their teens and 20s—a new organization is starting this month to combat socialism’s appeal.
It’s called Young Americans Against Socialism (yaas.org), according to its site, a nonpartisan nonprofit “dedicated to exposing socialism’s failures to young Americans by creating viral educational videos for social media.”
Its founder, Morgan Zegers, worries that “more than half of young people believe socialism should be implemented in America.” The reason, she says, is because many of them know very little about it.
