Average Affordable Care Premiums Going Up In 2015

WASHINGTON (AP) — Many people covered under President Barack Obama's health care law will face higher premiums next year, the administration acknowledged Thursday. While the average increases are modest, it's more fodder for the nation's political battles over health care.

Officials stressed that millions of current HealthCare.gov customers can mitigate the financial hit if they're willing to shop around for another plan in a more competitive online marketplace. Subsidies will also help cushion the impact.

It's currently taking an average of 30 minutes for returning customers to update their coverage.

Premiums for the most popular type of plan are going up an average of 5 percent in 35 states where Washington is running the health insurance exchanges this year and will do so again in 2015, said a report from the Department of Health and Human Services.

HUFFINGTON POST: COPS 'GET AWAY WITH MURDER'

On Thursday, the Huffington Post ran one of its patented subtle headlines regarding the grand jury decision not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner. “HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER,” the website blared, featuring a picture of a police cap. The subheadlines built the sensationalistic case: “2 Non-Indictments in 8 Days…’I Can’t Breathe’…Darren Wilson Goes Free…” Huffington Post then listed other black people killed or abused by police officers: “John Crawford III…Darrien Hunt…Oscar Grant…Amadou Diallo…Ousmane Zongo…Aiyana Stanley-Jones…Many Others…”

First off, whatever you think of the case of Eric Garner, it would be extraordinarily difficult to sustain a murder finding against him. To murder someone, you must have intent to murder; not only isn’t that present in the Garner video, there is no evidence of such intent. As former prosecutor Andy McCarthy put it at National Review today, “Officer Pantaleo plainly did not intend to kill Mr. Garner; he applied force he judged necessary to take Garner down to the ground so Garner could be cuffed. That this ended up killing Garner was unexpected and tragic, not intentional or willful.”

Second, only the most cynically exploitative journalistic outlet would lump together the cases of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Brown robbed a convenience store, then attacked a police officer, attempted to take his gun, then charged the officer before being shot. Garner yelled at officers and waved his arms about before he was put in a submission hold by an officer and died of a suffocation brought on by combination of heart disease and asthma, not directly by the hold itself.

Immigration Activist Suggests Race May Be Why GOP Opposes Obama Executive Action — Then It Was Trey Gowdy’s Turn

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) interrogated Marielena Hincapie, the executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, during a Tuesday House hearing on President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration reform after she seemingly suggested race may be the basis behind the GOP’s opposition to the unilateral action.

“I could’ve sworn in response to a question you received… you suggested race is the basis for why we may have this constitutional perspective,” Gowdy said to Hincapie. “Did I understand you correctly?”

“I believe I was responding to the question about, is there an explanation about why…” Hincapie began before being cut off.

“Well let me offer another explanation to you, OK? Not a single Republican who is here right now has ever served under a Republican president — not one. So I hope I do live long enough to hold a Republican president to the exact same standard that I am holding this one. But for you to run to race as the explanation for why we hold the position that we do.”

Cotton: Congress Should Arm Israel for Strike on Iran

Senator-elect Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) on Wednesday called on Congress to take a “serious look” at supplying Israel with surplus B-52 bomber planes and bunker buster super bombs for a potential strike on Iran’s clandestine nuclear sites.

Cotton said that as the Obama administration pursues diplomacy with Iran in light of another extension in the nuclear negotiations, Congress should be stepping up pressure on Tehran and considering the “credible use a force,” a policy that would include arming Israel with the advanced technology needed to strike at Iran’s nuclear sites.

“In my opinion, the negotiations were a grievous mistake from the beginning, and they quickly became a sham; now they’re a farce,” Cotton told a group of reporters on the sidelines of the Foreign Policy Initiative’s (FPI) annual forum.

Congress must step up early next year “to reimpose the sanctions” on Iran that have been lifted by executive order by the Obama administration, Cotton said.

Any congressional action related to Iran “has to be, obviously, backed by credible use of force,” he said, adding that Congress should take a “serious look” at providing to the Israeli military hardware necessary to carry out a strike on Iran.

This would include high-tech B-52 bomber planes, as well as 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs that are capable of penetrating deep into Iran’s fortified and underground nuclear research sites.

This type of move could “send the right signal to our allies in the region and to the regime in Iran,” Cotton said.

Flu shot may not be enough protection this season

"Get your flu shot." It's the most common health advice this time of year. Physicians and public health officials constantly stress the importance of protecting yourself from the seasonal flu, an illness that kills thousands of Americans every year.

But now the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says this year's vaccine may not offer protection from a strain of the bug that's currently making the rounds. According a CDC health advisory released Wednesday, only 48 percent of flu virus samples taken through last month were closely related to this year's North American vaccine.

"It's not going to be as effective as it has been in previous years," CBS News medical contributor Dr. Holly Phillips, told "CBS This Morning." "Basically, what the CDC found was that the predominant strain circulating right now is one called H3N2, and just under half of the samples that they tested were a good match with the vaccine. What that means is that the virus has shifted, or what we call viral drift. It's mutated in some way."

Man who killed teen girlfriend he thought was pregnant wanted community service

A man who suffocated his 14-year-old Brooklyn girlfriend because he thought she was pregnant — then burned her corpse and stuffed it in a suitcase — asked if he could do only community service for the crime, court papers reveal.

After confessing to killing Shaniesha Forbes in January 2013, Christian Ferdinand, 22, asked cops, “Do you think I can get some kind of community service?” according to documents obtained by The Post.

A Brooklyn jury took just an hour Monday to find Ferdinand guilty of second-degree murder for the heinous crime — ensuring that he now faces up to 25 years to life behind bars.

The evil killer dropped his head on the courtroom table when the verdict was read aloud.

“I don’t think God should forgive him. He doesn’t deserve forgiveness. I hope he rots in jail,” the victim’s older sister, Shaquana Forbes, 22, said outside court.

Larry Hogan Transition Team Chair James Brady Says State Budget Is An '800-pound Gorilla'

James Brady is leaving no doubt about the biggest issue Gov.-elect Larry Hogan's transition team has to tackle.

It's the state budget.

"That has been the 800-pound gorilla in the room," said Brady, who is co-chairing the transition team along with Lt. Gov.-elect Boyd Rutherford.

"As the governor elect has said, it's worse than we thought," Brady said. "And quite frankly, until we get that squared away, a lot of policy decisions are very difficult to make."

Brady commented on the budget, which has a $900 million gap, the day after the Hogan camp announced 31 new members rounding out its transition team. The teamhas been adding members since Hoganwon in November.

Court ruling challenges Obama immigration action

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a ruling that could short-circuit one of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, a federal court has allowed U.S. tech workers to challenge extensions of foreign laborers’ status here.

The case of Washington Alliance of Technology Workers v. the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has “major implications” for the president’s ability to expand the number of work visas and the terms or durations of those visas, said Dale Wilcox, executive director of the Immigration Reform Law Institute.

The lawsuit was brought by attorney John Miano and IRLI on behalf of several displaced American workers.

“The Obama administration and its congressional allies have repeatedly stated that they believed the president’s executive memos were immune from judicial review in federal court,” Wilcox said.

Paul Ryan’s Plan: Broad Vision And Small Steps

As he shifts from chairing the broad philosophical debates of the House Budget Committee to the nuts-and-bolts governing of the Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Paul Ryan says he’s still going to push for big conservative goals like tax and entitlement reform — but he’s more willing to take baby steps to get there.

In an interview with POLITICO on Wednesday, the Wisconsin Republican said he’s going to use his new perch in the House to pursue what he calls “phase one” of tax reform — focusing only on the business Tax Code — while understanding that he’s not going to get it all while President Barack Obama is in office.

But that doesn’t mean he’s giving up on the big ideas he’s pitching to shape the Republican Party’s agenda for 2016 — and possibly keep his options open for a White House run of his own. He’ll keep talking up his Medicare premium support plan and repeal of Obamacare, even though he doesn’t expect either has a shot before the end of Obama’s term.

“What I’ve always tried to do is lay out a very broad vision, a big vision that shows what you’re trying to accomplish in totality — what does that horizon look like?” Ryan said. “And then, because you can’t get everything you want at a singular moment, take incremental steps.”

Netanyahu Fires Two Senior Ministers

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday fired two senior ministers and called for new elections.

Netanyahu dismissed Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Justice Minister Tsipi Livni and said that they had consistently opposed him and his policies from within the governing coalition.

“With the current government,” he said, “it is impossible to run the country.”

Netanyahu said the pair had met with opposition leaders in an attempt at a political “putsch” that would have mustered enough votes to oust him as prime minister.

The Netanyahu government will remain in place until the elections, sometime next spring. Absent will be the two dismissed ministers plus four others from Lapid’s party who resigned in protest. Livni was the only minister from her party.

Md. Court: DNA Evidence At Trial Must Be Confirmed

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland's highest court has ruled that criminal defendants can't present evidence of DNA matches to other suspects at trial unless additional testing has confirmed the results.

In a ruling last week, the Maryland Court of Appeals found that defense attorneys have the same burden as prosecutors when presenting DNA evidence.

The court's ruling upholds the conviction of two Maryland men on charges including attempted murder and burglary stemming from a 2009 Montgomery County home invasion. Both men are serving life sentences.

Father arrested after his mentally disabled daughter, 15, 'was found covered in feces and weighing just 35lbs'

A father has been arrested after his mentally disabled 15-year-old daughter was found covered in feces and weighing just 35 pounds.

Father-of-three Steve Sells, 58, from Anderson, Indiana, was arrested on Monday night - but he insisted that his daughter was so small because of her medical condition, authorities said.

Family members had taken the girl to St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson on Monday afternoon. Doctors contacted police and she was then flown to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

Authorities said her condition could be life threatening.

Anderson Police told Fox59 that the teenager, who is mentally disabled, was severely malnourished and covered in feces when she was taken to hospital.

She weighed just 35 pounds, which is the average weight of a five-year-old child.

"Big Lie" Propaganda

Economist Dr. Thomas Sowell said Tuesday night that the “hands up, don’t shoot” rallying cry out of Ferguson that has since been adopted by members of the Congressional Black Caucus reminds him of the “big lie” doctrine favored by Adolf Hitler’s propaganda czar, Joseph Goebbels.

Fox News’ Sean Hannity said the idea that Michael Brown had his hands in the air in surrender when he was fatally shot by police was “fiction.” After playing a clip showing CBC members on the House floor Tuesday with their hands raised in the air, Mr. Hannity asked Mr. Sowell, “Why are members of Congress repeating something that they know is not true?”

“Oh, for political reasons,” Mr. Sowell responded. “I thought of Joseph Goebbels’ doctrine: People will believe any lie if it’s repeated often enough and loud enough. They’re repeating it often enough and loud enough. And it will pay off for them personally and politically.

“People who are out to forward their political careers say and do things that have no relationship whatever to reality or to anybody else’s interests but their own,” he added.

Reminder as Ferguson Tension Grows: Obama Marched With The Black Panthers

The tension over Ferguson continues to get worse around the country with President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and Al Sharpton leading the way.

According to local media reports, members of the New Black Panther Party planned to blow up the St. Louis Gateway Arch and to assassinate Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson and prosecutor Bob McCulloch in response to the non-indictment of former police officer Darren Wilson by a grand jury.
St. Louis-area media outlets are reporting that two New Black Panther Party men were plotting to use the Ferguson chaos that was projected post-grand jury ruling as a shield to kill Police Chief Tom Jackson and prosecutor Bob McCulloch.

New Black Panther Party members Brandon Orlando Baldwin and Olajuwon Ali Davis were taken into custody on Nov. 20 for providing false information while buying guns at Cabela’s in a suburban area of Missouri, federal prosecutors said.

Federal prosecutors also said the two bought what they believed to be a pipe bomb from undercover officers and were going to blow up the iconic Gateway Arch, media previously reported.

The two have been charged so far with aiding and abetting the making of a false written statement in connection with a firearms purchase, the New York Daily News reported.

But now law enforcement say the men’s plot went much deeper — and that the two were actually going to use the violence that was projected to erupt in the streets on the heels of the grand jury ruling as a cover to kill two key Ferguson officials: Mr. McColloch and Mr. Jackson.

Will these New Black Panther members be heavily prosecuted? Hardly. In typical fashion, Attorney General Eric Holder has their back and is giving them a pass with only minor gun charges. More from the Free Beacon:

House Set to Rebuke Obama on Immigration

House Republicans are prepared to rebuke President Barack Obama over immigration, with a vote on legislation that declares his recent executive actions "null and void and without legal effect."

But even supporters acknowledge that the bill by Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., is mostly meant to send a message, since it stands little chance in the Senate — which remains under Democratic control until January — and would face certain veto by Obama.

Instead, its passage Thursday would set the stage for the real showdown over legislation to keep the government running past Dec. 11, when a current funding measure expires. Conservatives are demanding language in the spending bill that would block Obama's move to defer deportations and grant work permits to more than 4 million immigrants here illegally.

Sharpton and his ‘co-mayor’ meet with Obama

WASHINGTON — He never leaves home without him.

Bill de Blasio and “Co-Mayor” Al Sharpton are joined at the hip in New York, so why not in Washington?

De Blasio and the race-baiting Rev met with President Obama and other clergy, cops and pols Monday about “simmering” tensions between the police and minorities across the United States.

Sharpton, a White House regular under Obama, got a prime seat at the table — directly facing the president — during the two-hour session at the Eisenhower Office Building.

Hizzoner, meanwhile, got a seat farther away from Obama.

Afterward, when a small group of the leaders spoke to reporters, Sharpton hustled to get to the mike to speak second — elbowing his way in after de Blasio tried to turn things over to Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.

“We live in a country that we must support law enforcement, but law enforcement must support justice,” Sharpton bellowed.

Black Sheriff: Political Leadership Stoked Ferguson Fires

"You can poke at the media … [saying they] did some things that were questionable. That's true, but you know what? This also came from some of the political leadership as well," Clarke said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

The Tragic State of Black Schooling

In the medical profession, there is the admonition primum non nocere, the Latin expression for “first, do no harm.” In order not to do harm, at the minimum, requires accurate diagnostics. Suppose a patient presents with abdominal pains, and the physician diagnoses it as caused by the patient’s ingrown toenails. If that isn’t the cause, the physician can spend all the resources he wants treating the patient’s ingrown toenails and not remedy the patient’s abdominal pains.

The decency of accurate diagnosis should be given to analyzing the problems of a large segment of the black community. Very often, major problems are erroneously seen as being caused by racial discrimination. No one argues that racial discrimination does not exist or does not have effects. The question that’s relevant to policy, as well as resource allocation, is: How much of what we see is caused by discrimination?

Let’s apply this question to the tragic state of black education. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, sometimes called the nation’s report card, the average black 12th-grader has the academic achievement level of the average white seventh- or eighth-grader. In some cities, there’s even a larger achievement gap. If, as some people assert, this is the result of racially discriminatory education funding, then demonstrations, legal suits and other measures might be taken to promote funding equity. Also, resources could be spent to politically organize and elect black people as mayors, city councilors and school superintendents.

If the cause of the black/white achievement gap has little to do with racial discrimination, then focusing on discrimination will lead us to ignore or downplay factors that do affect black education. In some school districts, 700 teachers are annually assaulted and threatened. At one time, Philadelphia employed 500 school police officers. Similar stories of school violence can be told in other cities with large black populations, such as Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland, California, and Newark, New Jersey.

How useful is it to spend resources on discrimination while allowing unsafe and chaotic educational environments to exist?

Ferguson Lynch Mob Leaders Convene at the White House

A week after grand jurors in Ferguson, Mo., did their civic duty and resisted pressure from President Obama on down to lynch an innocent police officer, Al Sharpton and Ferguson riot leaders gathered at the White House yesterday to make plans to further exacerbate the racial tensions they created in order to cripple the economy and attack civil society.

These domestic subversives refuse to accept the official finding Nov. 24 that no probable cause existed to charge police officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in the Aug. 9 death of Michael Brown, who was black.

The finding of “no true bill” contradicts the Left’s preferred narrative that racist white cops are gunning down innocent blacks with impunity. The failure to indict Wilson, who has since resigned from the Ferguson police department, has driven left-wingers and racial grievance mongers into an exquisite state of apoplexy. They refuse to accept that the evidence considered by the grand jury overwhelmingly, indisputably demonstrated that Brown tried to seize Wilson’s gun in an attempt to do the officer harm. To put it more bluntly, there is proof that in their fateful 90-second encounter Brown tried to kill Wilson, even though the media has consistently identified Wilson as the aggressor.

But facts are rarely obstacles when left-wingers set their minds on something.

How Obama Worsens Black Unemployment

On July 3, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the unemployment rate for black Americans is more than double that for white Americans: 10.7 percent versus 5.3 percent.

On Aug. 28, the Washington Post reported that the black unemployment rate has consistently been twice as high as the white unemployment rate for 50 years.

So why on earth is America’s first black president doing so much to impede black American employment by what was headlined in the Washington Post as: “President Defers Deportations for 4 Million, Challenges His Opponents”?

The Washington Times’ top headline was “Obama Offers Amnesty, Defies GOP,” under which were the following subheadlines:

“Illegals Get Pay Raise, Allowed to Compete for U.S. Jobs” and

“5 Million Illegals Declared Safe from Deportation, Must Work to Stay.”

Poll: Americans Want Illegals Out of Schools, Jobs

Despite the media’s gushing over-support for President Obama’s executive order on illegal immigrants, a poll just published finds that the public is rejecting his move, with overwhelming majorities demanding that illegal children be barred from schools and illegal adults from jobs.

A new Economist/YouGov poll said that the public opposes the president’s order, 45 percent, vs. 38 percent supporting it. In fact, only a majority of Democrats support the president’s action.

“The president’s plan for executive action on immigration clearly does not sit well with many Americans. Democrats support the president’s decision to use an executive order to delay deportation proceedings for parents of U.S. citizens, but 51 percent of independents and 80 percent of Republicans oppose it,” said the poll analysis.

Iran Unveils Advanced Military Hardware After Nuke Talks Fail

Iran on Monday unveiled new missiles, torpedoes, and warships just a week after nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the West broke apart with little headway made between the sides.

The new military hardware was widely publicized by Iranian military leaders following an order by Supreme Leader Ali Khamanei urging the country’s armed forces to step up their combat readiness despite an extension in nuclear talks with the West.

The Iranian Navy displayed a crop of new vessels equipped with cruise missiles and other rockets. Also unveiled were new attack helicopters “equipped with Iran’s latest home-grown torpedoes,” according to Iranian military leaders quoted by the country’s state-controlled press.

The show of force is likely meant to send a message to the United States and other Western nations following another failed round of talks over Iran’s contested nuclear weapons program.

AMNESTY SHOCKER! THE SECRET BEHIND OBAMA'S 'ORDER'

President accused of 'sleight of hand' to protect self from impeachment

NEW YORK –
Did President Obama just set up Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to be a candidate for impeachment instead of himself if conservatives convince the Republican majorities in the House and the Senate that his “executive actions” on immigration are unconstitutional?

The inquiry begins with the question: Where are the executive orders Obama supposedly signed to permit up to 5 million parents of young illegal aliens to remain in the United States for three years?

The White House appears to have engaged in administrative sleight of hand, changing U.S. immigration law not by executive order but by a memorandum “exercising prosecutorial discretion” Johnson signed the day of Obama’s Nov. 20 nationwide address that so far has not been filed in the Federal Register.

Tom Fitton, president of Washington-based watchdog institution Judicial Watch, told WND in an interview the legal status of Johnson’s memo is a serious constitutional question that deserves to be adjudicated.

“The entire implementing authority involves a memorandum published by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson that changes the immigration law, directing federal money to be spent that has not been appropriated by Congress,” he said.

Welfare Map

Doesn't matter if you are Republican or Democrat or Independent, these numbers are definitely an eye opener.....

Make sure you read to the bottom...

Quite an eye opener...These 11 States now have More People on Welfare than they do Employed! Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2012, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. Household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support.  What's the problem with that much support?  Well, the median household income in  America is just over $50,000,which averages out to $137.13 a day.  To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $20.00 an hour.
Furthermore: There are actually two messages here. The first is very interesting, but the second is absolutely astounding - and explains a lot.  A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.

That's right! Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations...how to run their business?  How can the president of a major nation and society...the one with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business...when he's never worked for one? Or about jobs...when he has never really had one? And, when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers? They've spent most of their time in academia, government, and/or non-profit jobs. Or...as "community organizers."  They should have been in an employment line.

Nets Cover Mike Brown Death 23X More than the 130 Killed in Chicago

Michael Brown was killed on August 9 in Ferguson, Mo. From that day until Nov. 24, when it was announced the grand jury would not indict Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting, the network evening news programs covered the incident 92 times. On the other hand, between Aug. 9 and Nov. 24, there were 855 reported shootings in Chicago, 130 of them fatal. Total Windy City homicides since Brown’s death are at least 155. In all that time, analysis of broadcast transcripts shows, the network evening news programs mentioned Chicago violence just four times, and it was central to only two of those stories. That’s an incredible disparity in coverage – 23 times more for 129 fewer victims. When they did cover Chicago violence, the picture painted was bleak.

Remember how excited you were when the price of gasoline dropped below $3 a gallon? Now, for a few lucky drivers, its price has fallen below $2.

The lowest gas in the nation could be found at the OnCue gas station on 44th and Shields in Oklahoma City. Regular gas was selling for just under $2 there on Wednesday. According to Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for the Oil Price Information Service andGasBuddy.com, other parts of the nation will soon see similarly cheap gas prices.

According to the Gerontology research group, there is nobody from Illinois born before 1904 that is still living. Nationwide, there are 18 people older than 110 years old.

Senseless Red Ink: How Washington Massively Subsidizes Flood-Prone Homeowners

What’s the most frequent hazard associated with natural disasters in the United States? Flooding, says Chris Edwards of the Cato Institute, who notes that more than 90 percent of natural disasters in the country involve flooding. This makes the federal government’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) especially significant.

Unfortunately, the NFIP is in dire need of reform. There are 20,000 communities that participate in the program, meaning that all homeowners and businesses in those areas are eligible to purchase federal flood insurance, and those communities must meet federal flood regulations. Today, there are 5.6 million flood insurance policies.

What’s the problem? Edwards details a host of issues with the program, including:

FEMA takes in only $3.5 billion in premium payments each year, meaning that it must borrow from the Treasury when payouts cost more than premiums. It has accumulated billions in debt as a result.
One-fifth of policyholders receive subsidized insurance rates, while the rest pay “full” rates; still, says Edwards, those “full risk” rates are below-market rates. According to a recent study, NFIP premiums are half of what they need to be to meet costs.

The program is required to accept all NFIP applicants, no matter how risky, and they must retain policyholders whose property is repeatedly damaged. Additionally, rates do not increase after claims are made.

Edwards notes that “repetitive loss properties” are only 1 percent of all policies, yet they constitute one-third of claims. He describes a $69,900 home in Mississippi that has flooded 24 times since 1978; since that time, the owner has received more than $660,000 from the NFIP.

Rand Paul: ‘Blame Politicians’ For Garner Death

'No excuse' for someone to die over cigarette tax

Senator Rand Paul said Wednesday that he “blames the politicians” in New York for instituting “bad laws” that led to the death of Eric Garner at the hands of a police officer’s choke hold – the latest case to stir race related protests in the US.

Paul explained that Garner was targeted by police for selling loose cigarettes – a direct result of poor political maneuvers in the big apple.

“I think it’s hard not to watch that video of him saying ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe’ and not be horrified by it. But I think there’s something bigger than just the individual circumstances.” Paul explained.

“I think it’s also important to know that some politician put a tax of $5.85 on a pack of cigarettes so that['s] driven cigarettes underground by making them so expensive.” The Senator added.

“But then some politician also had to direct the police to say ‘hey we want you arresting people for selling a loose cigarette.’ And for someone to die over breaking that law, there really is no excuse for it. But I do blame the politicians. We’ve put our police in a difficult situation with bad laws” Paul urged.

Gallup: More Now Identify as Republicans Than as Democrats

The midterm election wave that swept Republicans to a majority in both the Senate and House also shifted Americans' political allegiance toward the GOP, a new poll shows.

According to a Gallup survey, 43 percent of Americans identified as Democrats or leaned toward the Democratic Party before the Nov. 4 elections, while 39 percent identified as or leaned Republican.

But a day after the election, Republicans had wedged open a slight advantage, 42 percent to 41 percent, representing a net shift of 5 percentage points in the partisanship gap, Gallup reports.

"Americans are also now more likely to align themselves politically with the Republican Party than the Democratic Party," the poll analysis noted.

"The 2014 midterms were an unqualified success for the Republican Party, and that success has caused Americans to view the Republican Party more favorably than the Democratic Party, as well as to say congressional Republicans should have more influence than President Barack Obama over the direction the nation takes in the next year."

Hillary Clinton speaks to half-empty auditorium at Georgetown

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's speech at Georgetown University today was met with tepid enthusiasm from students, with just half of seats in the reception hall appearing to be filled.

Pictures and video discovered by the Daily Caller show empty clusters throughout the 750-seat auditorium in which she spoke as part of a security conference being held at the Washington, D.C. university.

This is at least the second time in recent weeks that Clinton has been unable to pack a room during an appearance just as the clock winds down for her to make a decision about whether she wants to carry her political party's torch in 2016.

Teacher told 8-year-old student to unclog toilet with his bare hands

The parents of an 8-year-old student at a school in Washington state are unhappy after their son was ordered to unclog a toilet with his bare hands.

The incident happened on November 6 at Scootney Springs Elementary School in the small city of Othello.

The third-grader said he reported the blocked toilet and teacher Brent Taylor told him to clear it with his hands.

‘It’s nothing I haven’t done before,’ Taylor reportedly told the student.

Artie and Lisa Adams said they learned of the incident when they asked their son about his day at school.

‘He said everything was good, but my teacher made me put my hand inside the toilet. We were like, “What?’” Artie Adams told KEPR.

Martin O’Malley Nabs Bill de Blasio Campaign Manager As Senior Adviser

Likely Democratic 2016 hopeful Martin O’Malley has added New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s campaign manager to his team as a senior adviser as he prepares for a White House run.

It’s the clearest sign that O’Malley is pushing forward with plans for a national campaign despite the challenge likely Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton poses for the rest of the field on the fundraising front.

O’Malley aides said Bill Hyers had been informally advising the outgoing Maryland governor for months, but, with the midterm elections over, is now joining the outgoing Maryland governor’s team on a formal basis.

EPA Spent $700,000 to Reduce Pig Flatulence in Thailand

If we could reclassify the EPA as pig flatulence, we could get the EPA to fund its own elimination.

A report released by Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake found numerous examples of EPA mismanagement and excess, including employees illegitimately spending $15 million on agency credit cards and $9 million the agency lost track of funding projects in California.

Happens to everyone. One time I lost track of $12 million in Arizona and couldn’t find it for a week.

$1,500,000 annually to store out-of-date and unwanted publications at an Ohio warehouse” and another “$700,000 to attempt to reduce methane emitted from pig flatulence in Thailand.”

2 charged with rape at Johns Hopkins frat house

Two Maryland men have been charged with raping a 16-year-old girl at a Johns Hopkins University fraternity party.

Chaz Haggins, 20, and Ethan Turner, 19, both of Reisterstown, were arrested on charges of rape and sexual assault stemming from the alleged attack at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon party in the early morning of November 2.

They were being held without bail at the Baltimore City Detention Center.

Their arrests follow a report by a 16-year-old girl who told police that two men forced her to perform sex acts before they raped her at the party.

Haggins and Turner are not members of the fraternity, nor are they students at Johns Hopkins, university spokesman Dennis O'Shea said.

Sheriff: Eric Holder Threw Police Under the Bus

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said he was willing to give Attorney General Eric Holder a "do-over" after initially criticizing him in the aftermath of the Ferguson, Missouri, police shooting of a young black man, but he told Fox News on Tuesday that Holder again threw police under the bus.

Clarke told Newsmax TV in August that Holder had left "a sour taste in the mouths of all law enforcement officers" when he suggested there was racial bias in policing.

On Monday, Holder announced that he will issue new guidelines to federal officers that will eliminate racial profiling.

That, Clarke said, "disgusted" him.

"He comes out with these scurrilous claims that law enforcement officers hit the streets every day with some nefarious intent in their heart to deny people their constitutional civil rights and indiscriminately just shoot black males as if it were some sort of sport," Clarke, who is black, said on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File."
