John Travolta's Son has died of a seizure in the Bahamas. From what I have read on line, his Son had a history throughout his lifetime of having seizures and hit his head on the bathtub. A caretaker for the Family found him unconscious and was pronounced dead at the Hospital.
Man, that's really sad. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Travolta Family.

Letter To The Editor
Joe, you might want to post a warning on the blog. There is a lot of accidents on the roads and MSP is saying it is black ice. Everyone should drive careful.
Revenue Cap Verses Tax Cap Concept
The following commentary is a repeat of a previous submission that was published on SBYnews.
I would not ordinarily publish a repetition so soon but because our Elected County Executive spoke about his disdain for our Revenue Cap in his recent State of The County Speech I wanted to take this opportunity to reinforce what otherwise might have been forgotton by our citizenry.
Please bare-in-mind that the School Teachers have proposed legislation for the past three legislative sessions to exempt themselves from paying any real estate tax on their own primary homes while increasing the real estate taxes on ordinary citizens.
Read the House Bill for yourself as I'm not making this stuff up folks.
Re: HB 965 - Property Tax Public School Teachers
Several years ago (1978) Talbot County instituted a TAX CAP after a similar hugely unacceptable tax increase to Wicomico County incensed the voters to action. From 1978 until 1995 ballot questions were put before the voters to remove the TAX CAP. Finally, in January of 1995 a Coalition of SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS - Board of Education, Chamber of Commerce, PTA, NAACP, League of Women Voters, and other individuals SUED to overturn the TAX CAP and they won! The TAX CAP was ruled unconstitional.
Do you think VOICE should have gone for a TAX CAP? That certainly would have been an easy 'kneejerk' thing to do in light of the Court's decision.
After the TAX CAP was ruled unconstitutional in January 1995, The Talbot County Council in May raised the property tax by 46.%. That's right they raised the property taxes by almost 50 percent! But they - SPECIAL INTEREST - didn't have enough! The next year, in 1996 they raised it another 46.3%!!! And we - Wicomico Residents- think 23.7% is bad. Now let's try and add this up. . . .what's 46.1% and 46.3% over two years. Let's hold the math until the end of this lesson.
The Talbot voters were so incensed they searched for a way to stop these run-a-way politicos and came up with the Revenue Cap concept. The voters rallied to get it on the ballot and it was passed in 1996 by 72.21% of the voters! It stands as law today in that County. Even after MANY attempts to have it removed . . VOICE used the EXACT wording in their petition as was used in Talbot County. It's exactly the same language that is LAW in Talbot now.
So what have we learned today. Hopefully we've learned that from the time a TAX CAP was ruled unconstitutional and was replaced by a REVENUE CAP in Talbot County (1995 - 1996) - property taxes went up 92.4%!!! Actually that would not be entirely accurate as I'm told that before the REVENUE CAP could become law the actual true tax increase was 113.8%
The next question is a bit more subjective - after this current events history lesson - is the Daily Times staunch reason for objecting to the REVENUE CAP . . . do you now feel the VOICE proposals are obviously not well thought out?"
If your property tax increased by 113.8%, would the difference be greater or less than your recent pay raise?

Don't Forget Folks, Tomorrow Morning Is...........
HISTORICAL MOMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER
9:00 AM Sharp!
From The Scene
Another friend of Salisbury News, Malaki Greer provided these photos as well from the scene of three suspected burglars in a high speed chase on Rt. 13. Salisbury News, Delmarva's News Leader.
I've been informed there were a total of 5 suspects. The individual in the red jacket was apprehended after a K-9 search located the individual. The 5th suspect was caught at the scene of the burglary where the other 4 fled.
This is awesome work by several Police Departments. From what I have gathered you had the Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff's Department, Delmar Police and Salisbury Police on the scene. ALL suspects captured, no one hurt. Unbelievable!
Again, thank you Wayne Barrall and Malaki Greer for their great photography!
This Just In
While I had been informed there were only TWO people arrested at the scene, there were actually THREE! If you click on this image it will enlarge. Once you do you'll clearly see the guy on the ground, that's suspect #1. Then, if you look at the windshield of the green Honda you'll see a black female through the front window, suspect #2. Then, when you look on the right hand side of the photo and see the white female standing there with the Trooper, that's Trooper Hagel from the M.S.P. reading the white woman her rights, suspect #3! I had NO IDEA! WOW! The white woman was balling her eyes out while she was being read her rights but that's what it is Folks. Thanks Wayne!
Burglary Suspects Update
Mr. Wayne Barrall of Fire In The Hole Photography delivered these fantastic photos to Salisbury News taken earlier this morning on the scene where they captured two of the suspect from an alleged robbery on Connelly Mill Road. Wayne will have photos posted on his Site in just a few minutes as well and I have provided a link for you to go there and view them.
We are still awaiting a Press Release from the different Police Departments to get updated on where things stand at this point and time. I will also have an additional Post up shortly providing even more photos from another local Photographer. Enjoy.
It's Snowing
My suggestion to all of you is, before the mad rush, go to the store and stock up on milk, bread & toilet paper. LOL
BREAKING NEWS 1050
There was a burglary on Connelly Mill Road, later called in as Colonial Mill Road this morning. The State Police arrived and ultimately got into a high speed chase with a green Honda. One person jumped from the vehicle and took off running, K-9 Dogs are on the scene now tracking that person down. The Green Honda took off again and just now wrecked after being chased by the State Police. This is all going on LIVE right now. More updates as they come in.
Keep your eyes out for a black male in a red jacket near Rt. 13 & Stage Road. Troopers are in the area looking for this individual right now. They're now on Gordy Mill with a K-9 looking for the suspect. There have been no calls so far made to the Fire Depart after the wreck. I'll have to assume no one is injured.
The suspect in the red jacket is named Lamar. The jacket is a North Face brand jacket. He's also wearing a grey sweatshirt and wearing black Nike Boots.
The green Honda actually went head on into a Sheriff's Deputy vehicle. South bound Rt. 13 is completely shut down. They have arrested a male and a female and the other suspect (above) is still on the loose. We will have pictures coming in about 2 hours from the scene. An Ambulance did go to the scene but everyone refused to go to the Hospital stating no one was injured.
You have to admit Folks, it's pretty cool to get the information LIVE as you almost feel a part of the situation as it's going on. I know I do. Blogs are certainly the best way to go when it comes to getting breaking news.
NEW UPDATE 10:48 AM: I'm told Sheriff Mike Lewis is on the scene right now at an abandoned home on Stage Road with guns drawn. I have also been informed that the Salisbury Police Department is also on the scene.
They have CLOSED south bound Rt. 13 at Allens Mill Road. Looks like Rt. 13 is going to be closed for a while. We have also been told the suspect on the loose is 6' 1" tall and 265 pounds.

The Video Clip That Wasn't Allowed In The United States
This video shows that George Bush tried to warn Congress starting in 2001 that this economic crisis was coming, if something was not done. But congress refused to listen, along with Barney Frank. This video says it all.
The liberal AMERICAN media did not want this video on You Tube, so they had Time Warner threaten a law suit (proprietary rights) if it was not taken off.
This link is of the same video but is routed through Canada. Everyone in America needs to see this!

Daily Times
Every morning I wake up and the first thing after getting my morning drink of choice "Diet Pepsi" I log onto your News Blog. It takes me longer to read your blog and interesting news & facts then it ever did to read the Daily Times.
Your doing a great job and I believe you show the humane side of stories. You have the right in telling your thoughts, but in the end isn't is ourselves that make our own decisions?
Keep up what you are doing and I will keep my end of the contract by reading and contributing to help in any way I can by volunteering, and any other ways I can.

Poker
Two couples were playing poker one evening. Jim accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed Bob's wife, Sue wasn't wearing any underwear under her dress! Shocked by this, Jim upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced.
Later, Jim went to the kitchen to get some refreshments. Bob's wife followed and asked, 'Did you see anything that you like under there?' Surprised by her boldness, Jim admitted that, well indeed he did. She said, 'Well, you can have it but it will cost you ¤500.' After taking a minute or two to assess the financial and moral costs of this offer, Jim confirmed that he was interested. Sue told him that since her husband Bob worked Friday afternoons and Jim didn't, Jim should be at her house around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
When Friday rolled around, Jim showed up at Bob's house at 2 p.m. sharp and, after paying Sue the agreed sum of ¤500, they went to the bedroom and closed their transaction, as agreed. Jim quickly dressed and left. As usual, Bob came home from work at 6 p.m. and upon arriving, asked his wife: 'Did Jim come by the house this afterno on?' With a lump in her throat, Sue answered 'Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon.'
Her heart nearly skipped a beat when her husband curtly asked, 'And did he give you ¤500?' Sue, using her best poker face, replied, 'Well, yes, in fact he did give me ¤500.'
Bob, with a satisfied look on his face, surprised his wife by saying, 'He came by the office this morning and borrowed ¤500 from me. He promised he'd stop by our house this afternoon on his way home and pay me back.'
Now THAT, my friends, is a poker player!

SBYNEWS.COM Solves A Case For The Salisbury Police Department
You just have to love how powerful this Blog has become. At 8:00 AM this morning we posted an article about a stolen ATV. By 8:45 AM one of our viewers FOUND it! Mr. Dave Bowling was cruising around the Isabella Street area this morning. He had been in the Blog and saw the stolen ATV and decided to leave for work a little early and check that area. Obviously it didn't take long before he found the vehicle behind a home in which he had never seen an ATV there before. Mr. Bowling immediately called the SPD and as I was speaking with him on the phone this morning, the SPD was right there writing it up.
OMG, that's right, I forgot! Man is Chief Webster ever going to be pissed we beat them to yet another Press Release. Well, let's just hope the rest of the Press gets a hold of this story and puts it out there so he's not so mad at just me.
Great work Dave and thank you! Good things happen to good people.
Daily Times Shows Same Lack of Leadership As County Executive
Today's Daily Times publishes an editorial exhibiting the same lack of leadership, vision, and understanding of the issues as we discussed Wednesday in our post on the Wicomico "State of the County" address. Politics is obviously more important than facts; government spending more important than taxpayers.
Whining over the revenue cap is not going to solve anything. While an opponent of the revenue cap, I realize that the voters of Wicomico County do not (and should not) trust County Executive Rick Pollitt with a repeal. Now Pollitt, and the paper, are asking for a revision. This is not politically viable either because bold action requires leaders. To date we have none, either in the County Executive's office nor at Gannett's new digs in Northwood.
The Daily Times' argument about county revenue proves that they have no understanding of the real problem and seem to believe that government should just keep raising revenue to meet expenses, rather than solve the problems of spending AND the source of that spending:

The housing boom was in full swing, the economy was sailing along and property tax revenue from new construction was not affected by the cap for the first year. So any shortfalls were made up by the taxes collected on new construction, which was not included in the pot that is limited to 2 percent --or less, depending on the rate of inflation --more than the previous year's revenue.Read More ...
Mayor Tilghman & Chief Webster Need Solutions For The Homeless
"Yesterday morning, two city police officers came to the City/County Building where the homeless man sleeps. The loading dock of the office building. One checked his I.D. and then apparently asked him to leave. Both officers waited until he packed up both of his sleeping bags and the rest of his belongings. The homeless man went one way and the two police officers went the other. As they were passing the windows of the City/County building, one of the officers made gestures and then gave a thumbs up to someone inside the office building. This seemed to be a signal that the officers sent the homeless man on his way.
I feel it is such a shame that these people have to live on the streets, some by their own choice and others because of circumstances and then to take a stance like that. This man has slept on that loading dock for more than a year and a half and the deputies used to ask him to leave if he overslept. His normal time leaving was about 8:00-8:30 and that would before the public started coming through those walkways. Now he does sleep in and probably has to do a lot with it is cold out there and he probably does not sleep as well. He has been rained on, snowed on, wind blowing and the heat. If one needs to sleep outside, at least he has a small roof over his head and a corner of a building to get away from some of the weather.
He hasn't been a problem sleeping out there for this entire time and now it makes me believe due to the upcoming election, the homeless are being dealt with now. What an embarrassment this has to be to the current administration and now to her possible replacement that has been her "yes man" the entire time. There is crime out there, and yes from time to time, homeless people commit the crimes, but lets not let an election bring on running these people away from their safest spots, away from what little shelter they have. And not knowing what conversations were had between the officers and the homeless man, checking his I.D., was this a way of putting him on notice not to sleep there anymore? I guess we will know that come Monday morning when everyone returns to work. Everyone knows who this man is, and just now, New Year's Eve day, they have to run him away from his sleeping quarters. And yes, I do know, if he had stayed on his schedule of being gone by 8:30 a.m. this would probably not have happened.
It is such a shame that we show compassion for our furry friends, but human beings are tossed aside. We should find a way of dealing with all life, furry and human. Maybe Linda Lugo can open up her building due to all the animals being adopted out, and replace the cages with mattresses. Okay, this went a bit far, but something needs to be done. Look at the Feldman Building, can it be renovated enough for homeless to have a warmer place to be able to stay. I wished I had the money to start some kind of program. I pick up animals on the side of the road but I am afraid to bring a human being home due to my children and not knowing the history or mental state of the person.
Have A Happy New Year!!"
Please GO HERE for the solution. As Americans, we need to work together and rebuild our Country. We do so by starting right here at home and electing new Leadership that want to make things better for ALL of us. Making things better does not mean $10,000,000.00 Fire Stations or a mega million dollar Library in a horrible economy. Unfortunately for MANY of you reading this Blog, you too will be hit hard and could become one of the Homeless. The old Fire Station 16 is sitting there doing NOTHING! It's bitter cold out. Open those damn doors and provide a place for these people to rest. The City AND County should work together to fund a project like this and set aside projects like the Dog Park for now. Set aside the renovations at the Zoo. Set aside the North Prong Project for now. You're welcome to add to this list if you'd like. We need to rebuild right here at home and never forget where we came from.

This Guys got More Nerve than Dick Tracy
Illinois Governor Blogo is becoming endearing. I'm glad he's not stepping down and he is gonna make them take him down (if they can)
and after his last stunt they just don't know what to do with him.
One thing is for sure he is shameless.

SURELY, POVERTY AND HARD LIVING WILL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE.
THE DEMOCRATS AND I WILL LIVE FOREVER
IN A RENTED HOME.
BUT I AM GLAD I AM AN AMERICAN,
I AM GLAD THAT I AM FREE.
BUT I WISH I WAS A DOG
AND OBAMA A TREE.
