Another Jacob Day Comment Worthy Of Attention And Discussion Comes in
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "A Comment Worthy Of A Post 12-5-13":
The more I read, the madder I get with this irresponsible over-grown juvenile.
I want to know what makes him think he is so special that he is above the law while the rest of us average citizens obey the law, follow the rules, and have respect for law enforcement? If we don't follow the speed limits and get a speeding ticket, we, as mature adults take the punichment by admitting to our mistake, pay the fine and strive never to do the same thing again. Most of us can't afford the extra cost to our insurance so we learn our lesson. This overgrown child doesn't learn from his mistakes because someone always fixes them for him so he takes no responsibility and no ownership. Hence, we have serving as council president a spoiled brat who thinks he is above anything bad he does because someone else will take care of it and fix it for him.
What a childish mentality. What poor leadership. What a poor spokesperson for Salisbury. What poor judgement. What poor ethics. What a poor example of a council president.
To the various police departments, and judges that let this slide and don't do anything to him, you are just as guilty as Day is. Jake Day needs to finally learn from his mistakes before he kills innocent children and adults.
His license should be removed from him for at least a year and he should not be allowed to drive any vehicle for any reason for that period of time. He should also spend more than a week-end in jail and made to attend driving classes until the year revoke license period is completed.
His cocky arrogant attitude needs adjustment which is long overdue.
He is a liability to the city and as a taxpayer when he causes personal injury accidents, I don't want my taxes covering his bad behavior. If the mayor were smart he would want to cut the citys' liabiltiy Jake Day has created for everyone one of us.

Tonight's WBOC Broadcast About Council President Jacob Day's Run In With The Law
Laura Mitchell stated it was on his personal time so it should be left alone.
Shanie agreed.
Tim Spies, well, WBOC didn't interview Tim, go figure.
Terry Cohen, well, they didn't interview her either.
Our very own George Chevallier said,
"If they're going to make the laws they should follow them.
How did I know well before tonight's broadcast that they weren't going to interview Tim Spies and Terry Cohen. Yet they want to be recognized as Delmarva's News Leader???
Perhaps WBOC truly underestimates the incredible following right here on Salisbury News. With traffic in the MILLIONS, that's a huge mistake.
Mayor Jim Ireton wanted to make it clear that Jake Day does not drive City owned vehicles. I guess between what Laura, Shanie and Jim stated, what Jake Day did by breaking the law was just fine. Did WBOC mention the kind of bad influence this places on younger people, no. However, I will give them credit when Paul Butler mentioned other traffic violations, (aside from this one) in which Day was found guilty driving 72 in a 55 and 78 in a 55. I don't recall what the third one in a 25 mph zone was but I do believe it was way over, something like 44 mph.
I think what's also important is the fact that WBOC attempted to skirt the subject all together but was placed under far too much pressure by comments and our original article days ago. You can't claim to be Delmarva's News Leader when your some 48 hours behind in big news.
All I can say is, it must have hurt really bad for them to be forced to cover something they really didn't want to.
WBOC & Steve Hammond Defend PRMC Layoffs
I'm not sure if you watched WBOC last night but I seriously couldn't believe what I was seeing. Steve Hammond was defending PRMC with the layoff of some 25 Security Officers absolutely defending PRMC by stating each Officer would have the opportunity to regain employment IF they lived up to the standards and qualifications of the new company PRMC hired.
This is absolutely why I created Salisbury News some 9 years ago. It was not so I could walk around like a celebrity forgetting where I came from. I started Salisbury News because I wanted the TRUTH out there. Clearly by my doing so I have ruffled a lot of feathers along the way and quite frankly I'm quite proud of what we've delivered.
If Salisbury and the Eastern Shore want a gay Mayor with absolutely no business experience, who is openly intoxicated publicly on a regular basis, allegedly exposes himself in the Ladies Room and throws hissy fits directed at helpless women, so be it. If you want a Council President who completely disregards the law as Jacob Day did just for the second time recently, so be it. Did anyone see any of this on WBOC? Do you feel you should be INFORMED with FACTS, OR, would you rather see news from other states, celebrities in the news and so forth.
The PRMC layoffs is a very serious matter. PRMC is a major employer who claims to be a non profit organization who is supposed to allegedly donate 1/2 of their profits back into the community. This is why they pay NO TAXES.
What we as a community get from the local media is hype. The all mighty advertising dollar and influence seems to go a long way.
My guess, I'd bet a lot of money YOU wouldn't feel the same way if Draper chose to hire a professional group of anchors to replace YOU. Salisbury News will be glad, (at that time) to announce Steve Hammond has the opportunity to put in his resume but the odds of his regaining employment simply on the professional level meeting their new standards wouldn't be very promising. Steve should also recognize that ALL of the years he had put in towards retirement would start all over again with his new employer.
But the PRMC Security Guards will be just fine, right Steve???

BREAKING NEWS: Delmar Maryland Mayor Carl Anderton Filed Today To Run Against Norm Conway
Once again Salisbury News is breaking news no one else has. Carl is an incredible Mayor and human being. I have said this for many years now, Carl Anderton is the man to watch in Maryland politics and I for one, (and I hope many of you will join me) will support Carl for any position he so chooses.

Just In - Wicomico County Unemployment (Labor Force) Continues To Deteriorate - September, October US Bureau of Labor Statistics Shows September 2013 Job Losses - 1,350 Fewer Jobs Verses September 2012, And October 2013 Job Loses - 1,234 Verses October 2012
Wicomico County's Labor Force Numbers were released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics this afternoon - and it shows that Wicomico County continues to experience dramatic decreases in its workforce when compared to previous years. In fact, for the last (5) months beginning in June 2013 - Wicomico has recorded its largest monthly job losses ever - (June 2013, -1602 less jobs), (July 2013, -1837 less jobs), (August 2013 - 1652 less jobs), September 2013 - 1350 less jobs), and (October 2013 - 1234 less jobs).
Today, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics released the monthly results for September and October together because of the recent government shutdown. Ordinarily the US BLS releases on a month by month basis but because of the shutdown - they delayed the release until this morning.
The latest jobs report does not bode well for ones who might be looking for work. Especially, for the graduating high school and college graduates that are streaming out of the 'system' on an annual basis. On a positive note - the diminishing local economy should have an impact on our own local elections as each candidate tries to assert his or her economic vision for our future.

Salisbury Kennel Club Backs Out Of Salisbury Christmas Parade And For Good Reasons
Dear Members,
I sadly announce that we will not be taking part in the Salisbury Christmas Parade. Our entry number was 33 but the Parade Committee placed our unit, very last in the parade. The Board of Directors made this decision last night after receiving our unit placement.
The following letter was sent to the JC's cancelling our entry.
To whom it may concern,
We are extremely upset that the parade committee decided to place our unit at the very end of the parade. With lining up before 1 pm and then standing around waiting to start, it makes it very hard on the dogs with the cold hard surfaced roads for that length of time. As responsible owners this is putting unnecessary stress on the animals and we will not do this to our dogs. We also requested that our unit be placed ahead of any horse units as the poo is hard on the feet of our dogs, our request was ignored this year as it was last year.
We have had a long history with Salisbury JC's and the Christmas Parade, but this year, we are withdrawing our entry for reasons already stated.

Publishers Notes: The Jaycees better get on the ball. A few years ago Salisbury News was in the Parade and we were removed from any exposure on PAC 14. (politics). Barrie Tilghman was well known for throwing outright temper tantrums for not being placed first in the Parade. Soon enough you will simply see the Mayor, Council, SPD, SFD, Public Works and a few butt kissers left in the Parade as people are growing tired of the Jaycees forgetting where they came from.
The Jaycees recruit people under 35 years old and if they don't open their eyes to future generations of the ENTITLEMENT GENERATION and realize fewer and fewer young people will have ANY interest in volunteering, well, they'll simply disappear and go away. In the mean time they need to respect wishes from their supporters and understand their unique needs. They are not asking to be first in line and the dogs have NEVER been a problem in any way, shape or form in this parade.
Why Did Capitol Cops Cut Down 'Innocent' Woman?
WASHINGTON — A woman shot and killed by police on Capitol Hill supposedly was a threat to public safety, but a review of the known facts shows it was the police who may have posed the greater threat to public safety.
It appears Miriam Carey never violated any law until police began pursuing her car. Officers, on the other hand, fired numerous shots at her in a crowded public space near the Capitol, as the video below shows.
Seeing the news reports of the Oct. 3 shooting, many Americans came away with the impression that a mentally unstable and dangerous woman rammed a gate at the White House, sped away and was eventually shot by police because she could have posed a security threat to the nation’s capital.

Season’s Greetings And Open House Invitation
Dear Friends,
Happy Holidays! This season is a time to be thankful for our blessings and give back to the community that connects us. This winter, please share what you can – food, money, or your time – with those who are less fortunate; even small acts of kindness have the ability to lift up our neighbors and provide hope to one another. Let’s also not forget about the men and women who sacrifice so much, including time spent away from their families during this holiday season, to serve and defend our nation.
Together, we have made remarkable progress over this past year, and we remain committed to expanding opportunities and protecting Maryland’s middle-class families. As our children rejoice in the spirit of the season, let’s remember the choices that we make today will determine what legacy we leave for them.
Enjoy the company of your neighbors and friends, and take pride in all you have done to move our State forward. Katie and I look forward to seeing you and your family at Government House this year. On behalf of my family and Lt. Governor Brown’s family, we wish you a joyous holiday season.
Thank you for making Maryland the best place to live.
Martin O’Malley, Governor

Today's Breakfast Round Table - Lt. Governor Candidate, Delegates, County Council Officials, and other Candidates meet w/ County Executive
This morning the County Executive and County Council arranged a Breakfast meeting with our local Delegation in Annapolis. As you know, next years election is just around the corner and many of our current slate of officials, including potential candidates, are vying for a position.
This mornings topics included the following; local employment data, property assessments, transportation budget - particularly - restoring our transporation funding levels for road repairs.
Lieutenant Governor Candidate, Jeannie Haddaway and Delegate Rich Colburn chimed-in and stated; that during the past legislative session that they had made provisions to set-a-side a substantial sum of money to be used for our local counties road maintenance and that their plan was not acted upon by the administration. A noteworthy general observation - was that there was consensus among all our elected State's Delegates that a substantial portion of the State's road maintenance budget had been diverted and used for the expansion of our western shore railway transit system.
The upcoming Governor's election should prove to be very interesting as Harford County Executive - David Craig and Lieutenant Governor Candidate - Jeannie Haddaway team-up to bring their platform and vision for Maryland's future.
As for my own assessment - the Craig/Haddaway team is the best choice in order for the 23 local counties to gain economic parity in Annapolis.

WHITE HOUSE MAKES BIG ADMISSION ABOUT OBAMA’S UNCLE
This is a contradiction of what the White House told reporters in 2011, asserting Obama did not know his uncle.
“Back when this arose, folks looked at the record, including the president’s book, and there was no evidence that they had met and that was what was conveyed,” Carney told reporters. “Nobody spoke to the president.”
The president’s uncle Onyango “Omar” Obama, 69, said at a deportation hearing this week that Obama stayed with him when the president was a student at Harvard. The uncle, whom Carney stressed was the president’s father’s half-brother, was arrested for drunk driving in 2011 and faced deportation after living in the United States for five decades. The judge decided to let the Kenyan national remain in the United States.

Delmar Middle & High School To Close Half Day Friday
I received word recently that the Delmar Middle & High School will be closing 1/2 day on Friday so the Students and Teachers, (or so they claim) can attend a funeral of a former Teacher who hasn't been involved in the school for more than 12 years.
Look, with all due respect, this is ridiculous. The school is completely ignoring the reality of thousands of parents who will be subjected to leaving work early. Including STUDENTS as part of their excuse so they too can attend is also ridiculous. Do tell me what current students knew this person who hasn't been around the school for the past 12 years.
I'm sorry but this liberal kind of leadership has gone way too far. Maybe we can view the funeral on WBOC or the Daily Times. After all, this is yet another well respected person from within our community.
I mean NO disrespect toward this individual or their Family. I'm sure they are honored with the Board of Educations gesture. My concern is the hardship this brings upon thousands of Families.
Its also pretty sad that so many students have been attending Delmar High School for 12 years now.

'It's Par for the Course': Palin Reacts to Bashir's Exit From MSNBC
Less than 24 hours after the resignation of MSNBC host Martin Bashir, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin stopped by the Fox and Friends couch to give us her reaction.
Bashir had made some vulgar comments about Palin last month and later apologized. But after weeks of steady criticism and calls for his firing, he offered his resignation.
Palin said it's "refreshing" to watch so many members of the media come out against Bashir and voice the opinion that "our standards have got to be higher than this."

A Letter To The Editor 12-5-13
To anyone who reads, advertises or supports The Daily Times, you should be aware of their lack of morals and ethics.
My father, Ernest J. Gibbons, Jr. was killed in our company (Tidewater Supply) truck while making deliveries in Accomac, Va. on Thursday, October 10, 2013. I was notified at 10:41 that one of our trucks was in a ditch in Virginia. Our company has 2 trucks; my father drove one, my husband drives the other. I work in the office; it was just us three. At 10:44 I was notified that the driver had been killed. The caller did not go into detail regarding the accident. He did not realize that the driver was my father and was very apologetic. Virginia State Police called around 11:15 to inform me of my father's death. The officer stated that I or someone from the family needed to go to the funeral home to identify him. At 12:33, one of our customers called and asked me if that was my dad that had been killed. They had seen it on Delmarvanow website.
I went to the Daily Times website thinking they had more information regarding the accident. At 11:57, within 45 minutes of me being notified by officials, the Daily Times had NO public information, but they had a GRAPHIC PICTURE and VIDEO of my father, still through the windshield covered with a white sheet. All on display like it was for entertainment purposes. Because of The Daily Times I was unable to go and identify my Daddy, I was in shock at what I saw. I cannot UNSEE that. No one should have to see a family member on display like what the Daily Times did. I didn't have the opportunity to call his sister and brother and inform them, they had to find out that way. The Daily Times is a piece of trash tabloid. I and multiple family members have requested numerous times for them to remove the video and picture to no avail.

NFL Fines Mike Tomlin For His Foray Onto The Field In Baltimore
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has been fined $100,000 for interfering with a play against the Ravens on Thanksgiving.
The NFL also said Wednesday that it would consider docking Pittsburgh a draft pick "because the conduct affected a play on the field."
"Because the conduct affected a play on the field, a modification or forfeiture of draft choices will be considered after the final order of the 2014 draft has been determined," the NFL said in a statement.
