J.P. Morgan Says About 76 Million Households Affected By Cyber Breach

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. said contact information for about 76 million households and about 7 million small businesses was compromised in a cybersecurity attack detected this summer.

The largest U.S. bank by assets said financial information wasn't compromised in the attack and that customer money is "safe" since there was no breach of any login information such as passwords, dates of birth, social security numbers or account numbers.

But the banks said contact information of the customers' -- names, email addresses, phone numbers and addresses—were captured by hackers, who remain unknown and under investigation by the bank and law enforcement.

How New Jersey's Creeping Wage Hikes Are Crippling Mom-And-Pop Restaurants

Another day, another unintended consequence of the socialist state's eagerness to "make things better" for everyone, blowing up in its face.

For today's anecdote we go to New Jersey where legislation introduced by Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter, D-Paterson which passed in the Assembly’s Labor Committee on a party-line vote last March, calls for an increase in the minimum wage for tipped workers. It would increase the federal minimum of $2.13 per hour to $3.39 by the end of this year and $5.93 by 2016.

Civil Asset Forfeiture Victim Fought — and Won — When the Government Tried to Take His Property

Imagine owning your home outright after finally paying off the bank. You’re nearing retirement, and you’re making plans to travel and visit the grandkids. Then one day, you get a letter from the government with an unexpected declaration: We now own your house.

Russ Caswell, a 72-year-old business owner from Massachusetts, got one of those letters. Except the government seized his entire business — a motel worth nearly $2 million — without so much as a warning.

“When this first started, I got this notice in the mail and I thought it was some sort of mistake or something, with no warning, no nothing … basically, after you got through all the legal mumbo jumbo, it said, ‘We’re taking your property,’ and I was dumbfounded,” Caswell told TheBlaze

Bush Says Some U.S. Forces Should Have Stayed in Iraq

Brian Kilmeade sat down with former President George W. Bush in Texas at a golf tournament for Wounded Warriors.

Kilmeade asked the former president for his take on some of the tough decisions facing President Obama.

As he has in the past, Bush refused to "second guess" President Obama's decisions, but noted that he was in favor of leaving behind a residual force of about 10,000-15,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.

"The president has to make the choices he thinks are important. I'm not going to second guess our president. I understand how tough the job is. To have a former president bloviating and second-guessing is, I don't think, good for the presidency or the country."

Did Jesse Matthew possibly murdered TWO other Virginia women?

Authorities are investigating whether Jesse Matthew was involved in up to 10 crimes against women in Virginia, after the 31-year-old was arrested under suspicion of kidnapping still-missing college student Hannah Graham.

Matthew was arrested in Texas last week after fleeing Virginia when police tried to question him in the disappearance of the 19-year-old University of Virginia student. The UVA nurses's assistant was the last person seen with Graham the night she went missing from downtown Charlottesville.

Now investigators are looking into Matthew's movements over the last 12 years, focusing in on the more than six months he attended Christopher Newport University when two other young women disappeared without a trace.

To help spread the message of an endless summer, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan completed a media tour of Baltimore on Tuesday, September 16, generating more than $17,000 in advertising dollar equivalency. The Mayor made seven appearances on Baltimore television and radio stations to promote fall travel and to remind people that now is the best time to use their vacation days before they go to waste.
Mayor Meehan visited five of Baltimore’s top media outlets, including: WBFF-TV Fox 45, WIYY-FM 98Rock, WJZ- TV CBS 13, WBAL-TV NBC 11, and WBAL-AM 1090.
“September is the perfect time to remind Baltimoreans that summer is eternal in Ocean City. We have some of our best beach days in the fall and we were able to promote great events, golf and more,” said Mayor Meehan. “Our Vacation Day campaign is still resonating with people and the media was very receptive and complimentary of our message.”
In addition to encouraging guests to take advantage of Ocean City’s many events, Mayor Meehan promoted the town as an affordable and accessible vacation destination and encouraged visitors to connect with the town on social media.
All media tours are organized by the town’s agency, MGH, and coordinated by Donna Abbott, Tourism Director for the Town of Ocean City.

Gun-Friendly Small Businesses Popping Up Across America

While several gigantic chain stores have recently decided to ban guns, small businesses around the country are taking the opposite approach – and it is paying off.

Business is booming at places like Shiloh Brew & Chew in Maryville, Tennessee, which posted a“guns are welcome” sign earlier this year. At The Cajun Experience in Leesburg, Virginia, a promotion meant to attract armed customers resulted in an “overwhelming” response, owner Bryan Crosswhite says.

Crosswhite has even started a website — www.2amendment.org — listing pro-gun businesses around the country. More than 57,000 businesses have already signed on.

Ohio Women Sue Over Receiving Sperm From Black Donor

CLEVELAND – An Ohio woman and her partner have sued a Chicago-area sperm bank after she became pregnant with sperm donated by a black man instead of a white man as she'd intended.

Jennifer Cramblett was five months pregnant and happy with her life in April 2012. She and her partner had married months earlier in New York, and within days of their nuptials she had become pregnant with donor sperm at a fertility clinic in Canton.

Cramblett, 36, and her partner, Amanda Zinkon, 29, were so elated that they called Midwest Sperm Bank LLC outside Chicago to reserve sperm from the same donor in the hope that Zinkon would someday also have a child.

Tossing ‘Intelligence’ Under the Bus

When President Obama attributed the rise in Iraq of the Islamic State, or ISIS, to the failures of the U.S. intelligence community earlier this week, naming and blaming directly National Intelligence Director Gen. James Clapper, he was attempting to deflect criticism of his own incompetence. He was discussing the fact that ISIS, right under his own and the general’s noses, gained control of nearly half of the landmass of Iraq. This is the same Iraq that the United States supposedly liberated from the clutches of a dictator, strengthened as a regional military power and fortified as the Middle East’s newest democracy as a result of our invasion in 2003 and our subsequent 10-year occupation.

Many who supported the war then realize now that we were duped into it by a deceptive and shortsighted Bush administration that was looking to deflect blame for its intelligence failures of 9/11, for which, unlike the Japanese invasion of Pearl Harbor, not a single human being in the federal government has been charged with anything. But that is a topic for another day.

ISIS captured Fallujah and Ramadi, two major cities in Iraq, eight months ago. Surely the president knew about that when it happened. He receives an intelligence briefing every day; more often than not, he prefers a written briefing rather than one where he and his briefers can zero in on problem areas in a face-to-face conversation. Yet since the February takeover of the Iraqi equivalent of Chicago and Los Angeles, the president has told the American people that ISIS is junior varsity and he had no plans to address it, and he seemed not to care about it until ISIS went over his head, so to speak, and beheaded two innocent young Americans and posted grisly videos of their horrific murders on the Internet.

Obama Admin To Recognize Indian Tribe That Bans Interracial Marriage With African Americans

Black lawmakers are furious that the Obama administration is in the process of acknowledging a Native American tribe that still has laws prohibiting its members from marrying African Americans.

Eleven members of the Congressional Black Caucus wrote to Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Attorney General Eric Holder, criticizing the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) for planning on recognizing the Pamunkey tribe — a small tribe of about 200 members based in King William County, Va.

CBC lawmakers say the tribe has a long history of “discriminatory policies against African Americans.” Pamunkey law going back at least two centuries bans inter-marriage “with any person except those with white or Indian blood.” CBC also notes there “is no indication that the group has changed its regulations in regards to its prohibition of marriage between Pamunkey members and African Americans.”

Anxious, Jealous Women Face Higher Alzheimer's Risk

Middle-aged women with a neurotic personality style and prolonged stress may have a heightened risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, new research suggests.

Tracking 800 women over nearly four decades, Swedish scientists found that those who were most anxious, jealous and moody -- which they defined as neurotic -- and experienced long-standing stress had double the risk of developing Alzheimer's compared to women scoring lowest in these traits.

"No other study has shown that [one style of] midlife personality increased the risk of Alzheimer's disease over a period of nearly 40 years," said study author Lena Johansson, a researcher at University of Gothenburg.

Outside experts cautioned, however, that the study results don't prove that neuroticism triggers Alzheimer's, but they do suggest an association between the two.

The study is published online Oct. 1 in the journal Neurology.

Md. Gubernatorial Candidates To Face Tough Economy

Maryland’s new governor may face some tough economic times with a budget deficit and now news of a possible property tax hike.

Political reporter Pat Warren has a response from both the Republican and Democratic campaigns.

It appears that Maryland’s troubled economy won’t be getting better any time soon.

At the peak of the 2014 campaign for governor comes news that the state not only has a budget deficit but Comptroller Peter Franchot says it cannot afford to pay its debt without deep cuts in an already strained budget or a state property tax hike.

“Maryland families are so badly hit by this recession that to ask them to pay this debt service—it’s just reaching into their pocket at exactly the wrong time. That leaves the general fund, but that’s a bad option too because we just wrote the revenues down by $405 million last week, so the new governor’s going to have a very difficult job,” Franchot said.

It looks like a GOP wave; the question is how far it goes

Republicans seem to be pulling away in the race to win a majority in the U.S. Senate. At least this week.

In mid-September, several polls seemed to be going the other way. The well-informed Washington Post analyst Chris Cillizza wrote that for the first time in this election cycle odds favored the Democrats keeping their majority.

Two weeks later he was singing another tune. Analysts at the Post, the New York Times andFiveThirtyEight, in addition to psephologists Charlie Cook, Stuart Rothenberg and Larry Sabato, all agreed.

Independent polls confirm the race within margin of error...

Today an independent poll was released by Gonzales Research & Marketing Strategiesconfirming what we have been telling you for weeks, that we are in a position to win this race!

This poll shows that we are tracking in the same position as Governor Ehrlich was in 2002 when he pulled off a huge upset. The momentum is on our side and we have a clear path to victory!

Our positive message of tax cuts and job growth is what Marylanders care about most. We are focused on moving this state in a more prosperous direction and that is exactly what we are prepared to do in November.

Help us close the gap!

Our mission of restoring the economy and rolling back the O'Malley-Brown tax hikes is clear. We have the best staff and volunteer base operating in field offices across the state and are running positive statewide ads like "Jaymi." Marylanders are ready to work with us to bring prosperity back to our state!

This further confirmation in the polls proves to the non-believers that we CAN and WILL win this race. We only have 34 days left until we get change Maryland for the better! Please make a contribution to the campaign today for $3, $30, $300 or more to fund the last 30 days!

Reckless Federal Shopping Spree Could Squander $50 Billion

September 30th marked the end of the federal government’s fiscal year. It’s also the biggest one-day shopping spree of the year-- the day when federal agencies rush to spend the last of their money before October 1, before anything left over is returned to the Treasury.

Since agencies cannot carry over unspent funds, the idea is “use it or lose it.” If they don’t spend the money, Congress may not allocate as much the following year. The system typically creates panic for federal workers scrambling to spend millions of dollars before they run out of time. It also means a huge payday for contractors scoring big awards.

Last year, the government spent about $50 billion the week before October 1, according to NPR’s Shankar Vedantam. That total included apparent impulse buys like artwork worth $562,000 for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and toner cartridges worth $144,000 for the Department of Agriculture, as noted last year by The Washington Post. It also included $178,000 worth of “Cubicle Furniture Rehab” for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Judge Blocks Obamacare Tax Rule for Non-Exchange States

An Oklahoma federal judge dealt a blow to President Barack Obama’s health-care law, invalidating IRS rules aimed at making policies affordable for consumers around the country.

U.S. District Judge Ronald White in Muskogee ruled today that subsidies, in the form of tax credits, apply only to consumers in the 14 states that have set up insurance marketplaces and not to individuals who buy insurance on the federal marketplace, as in Oklahoma. An Internal Revenue Service rule says needy customers in both the federal and state marketplaces are eligible for subsidies.

“The court is upholding the act as written,” White said, citing language in the law that limits subsidies to those in states with their own exchanges. He called the IRS regulations “arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion or otherwise not in accordance with law.”

Five Reasons Americans Can’t Find Jobs

Friday, the Labor Department is expected to report the economy added about 215,000 jobs in September, about half of what is needed each month to bring unemployment down to pre-financial crisis levels.

The official unemployment rate is 6.1 percent, but that hardly provides a fair description of the jobs crisis. Not counted are prime working age adults who have quit looking for a job, part-time workers who want full-time positions, and young college graduates who have enrolled in graduate school because they can’t find decent employment.

The real jobless rate is likely closer to 20 percent, and the root cause is slow economic growth.

Since 2000, GDP has advanced 1.7 percent annually, about half the pace of the Reagan-Clinton years.

Five factors are slowing growth and making jobs scarce.

1. Poorly Enforced Trade Agreements

U.S. consumers and businesses are spending, but too many dollars go abroad to pay for Chinese consumer goods and Middle East oil.

China has systematically undervalued their currencies to put cheap goods into U.S. markets, destroying millions of good-paying American manufacturing jobs. Presidents Bush and Obama have refused to enforce WTO rules that prohibit currency manipulation to gain competitive advantage.

Report: “Disaster Teams Were Notified Months Ago They Would Be Activated in October”

Disaster Assistance Response Teams were told to prepare to be activated in the month of October

A public tweet from a large government supplier of emergency response products specializing in “high risk events” says that Disaster Assistance Response Teams were told to prepare to be activated in the month of October. The shocking revelation, made on the Goldenstate Fire/EMS Twitter page, suggests that not only did someone know that the Ebola virus would be reaching America, but that they knew exactly when it would happen.

“What we are now hearing is just the tip of the iceburg as we enter October,” noted the company’s Twitter spokesperson. “Ebola virus will cripple EMS and hospitals.”

When Future Money Trends, a follower of the page, asked what they meant by this statement, Goldenstate Fire/EMS responded with a shocking revelation.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – In honor of the Baltimore Orioles advancing to the American League Divisional Playoffs, Governor O’Malley is proclaiming Thursday, October 2, 2014, ‘O’s Orange Day’ in Maryland. O’Malley is encouraging Maryland state government employees to wear orange to work in support of the Orioles post-season run.

Governor’s Proclamation Declaring Thursday, October 2, 2014 as O’s Orange Day in Maryland
Whereas, the Baltimore Orioles, and manager Buck Showalter, prevailed against all odds to win the American League East Division championship for the first time in 20 years; and
Whereas, the Baltimore Orioles and their legion of fans soared across the country and battled to a 96-66 regular season record, while adopting the mantra, “We Won’t Stop;” and

Whereas, Buck’s Birds will be relentless and “We Won’t Stop” in our pursuit of a World Series championship.

Why Is the U.S. Government Dictatorial Towards Dissenters ... But Welcoming Ebola Carriers With Open Arms?

3 Supreme Court justices,  2 top level NSA executives, numerous Democratic and Republican Congress members and other top American officials have said that we’re basically in a police state.

Obama has prosecuted more whistleblowers than all other presidents combined. Indeed, the Obama administration is literally treating whistleblowers as terrorists. Dissent is also treated as terrorism, and the massive spy apparatus is focused on crushing dissent. Even trying to protect oneself from spying is treated as extremism. And investigative journalism has been criminalized by the Obama administration.

Medicare Advantage Plan Costs Rising For 2015 Due To Obamacare

Nearly 16 million Americans on Medicare Advantage (MA) plans will pay more for their health insurance in 2015 as a result of Obamacare.

Federal subsidies for MA coverage are being displaced to pay for the Affordable Care Act, resulting $160 billion worth of cuts by 2022, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

“Right before we left on a trip our 2015 book came to our house and it said ‘changes,’” said Janet Trimble, a Medicare Advantage enrollee.“I always hate when I see the word ‘changes.’”

The 2015 changes impact those over 65 with MAs who will either be paying higher premiums or paying premiums for the first time.

Another child dies from respiratory virus, spread continues

Rhode Island officials said it's unclear what role the virus played in the child's death

Health officials say three people died who were infected with a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country. But what role the virus played in the deaths is unclear.

Confirmed cases of the virus have been reported in Iowa, but so no deaths.

A Rhode island child died last week after suffering both a bacterial infection and infection from enterovirus 68.

The virus is behind a spike in harsh respiratory illnesses in children since early August.

CDC Spokesman Admits Screening Inadequate, Won't Ban Flights From Liberia

CDC Spokesman Dave Daigle stated that the US would not be preventing flights from countries with massive outbreaks of the Ebola virus from coming in to the United States, despite seemingly admitting that the case of Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan showed that airport screening cannot catch every case of Ebola on CNN’s “OutFront” on Wednesday.

When asked whether he would recommend the US simply not allow flights from countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia, Daigle responded, “I don't think so, and that’s certainly not, I'm not even sure if that’s a CDC call.”

He then said, “I think he [Duncan] got on the plane asymptomatic, without any symptoms whatsoever… the symptoms occurred after he landed or after he arrived in the US so it’s very difficult to prevent that. I mean the viruses don't respect borders,” despite this admission that airport screening failed in this instance because the infected individual had no symptoms, and that people can carry Ebola into the US without showing any symptoms that would be noticed by a screener, Daigle again expressed confidence in the screening system and argued that a flight ban was unnecessary.

ONE HUNDRED exposed to Ebola in Texas

Panicked parents pull children from local schools and neighbor describes how infected man was 'throwing up all over the place'

Up to 100 people were in contact with the Dallas Ebola patient at some point, Texas health officials said today, marking a significant jump from the 18 people that authorities had said may have been exposed to the deadly virus.

Four members of 42-year-old Thomas Eric Duncan's family have been legally ordered to stay home as a precaution even though they are not showing symptoms, the Texas Department of State Health Services said in a statement on Thursday. Violating the order could result in criminal charges.

The health officials said around 100 people may have come into contact with Mr Duncan. Earlier, they had put the figure at up to 18, including five children.

Some parents have temporarily removed their children from Dallas schools after learning that the five students may have come into contact with the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S.

Bethany Beach Man Charged in Robbery of Ocean View Store

Ocean View, DE – Troopers have arrested a 24 year old Bethany Beach man after he committed a robbery at an Ocean View grocery store.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 1, 2014 when a man entered Hocker's Deli located at 34960 East Atlantic Avenue and approached the register to pay for a .30 cent piece of candy. When the 16 year old female employee opened the drawer to make change, the male lunged across the counter and began grabbing money out of the till. The employee attempted to prevent the man from committing the theft by grabbing ahold of some of the money, but he forcibly removed the cash by pulling it out of her hand. The suspect then fled the store in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of currency.

Within 15 minutes of the robbery being reported to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (9-1-1), a separate call from a concerned citizen was received reporting that a suspicious subject had just run through their yard located in the 32000 block of Roxana Road. Troopers converged on the area and located an abandoned Ford Escort parked on Roxana Road near the residence but were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the suspect.

A computer inquiry on the Ford Escort revealed it was registered to Benjamin R. Marx, 24 of Bethany Beach. After numerous attempts to locate Marx at various addresses in the surrounding towns, he was finally located hiding in a bathroom closet of his mother's home located in Ocean View around 12:15 a.m. this morning. While conducting a pat-down search of Marx, he was found to be in possession of one bag of heroin (.015 grams) and a hypodermic needle as well as some of the cash stolen during the robbery.

Benjamin Marx was taken into custody without further incident and transported back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where he was charged with Robbery 2nd, Possession of Heroin, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $4,000.00 secured bond.

There's More To This Arrest...

On 9-20-14, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested William Patrick King, 31, of Columbia Maryland for assault second degree.

The arrest stemmed from a disturbance complaint on Somerset Avenue near the Manokin Park. King was charged with two counts assault second degree, fail to obey a reasonable and lawful order, disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct.

King was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued a $200,000 bond. King was released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.

Publishers Notes: I was informed by a concerned citizen about this particular incident that there was more to this story. I have confirmed that this individual is on the sex offender registry. What makes this story interesting is that this individual reportedly was in Princess Anne visiting a female (minor) and things got out of control. I think the $200,000.00 Bond spells out the story.

I will let those in the know fill in the blanks buy give credit where credit is due, Great Job Princess Anne Police!

CDC: Gay Men Represent 2 Percent Of US Population, 52 Percent Of People With HIV

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) – Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM) make up 2 percent of the U.S. population but are the group most definitively affected by HIV, with 63 percent of those newly infected by HIV representing this group.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly “Morbidity and Mortality” report shows that among persons newly infected with HIV in 2010, 63 percent were men who have sex with other men. Among Americans living with HIV, 52 percent were MSM – and a significant number of men with HIV are not receiving treatment.

“Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) represent approximately 2 percent of the United States population, yet are the risk group most affected by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),” reads the Sept. 26 CDC report. “Most gay and bisexual men acquire HIV through anal sex, which is the riskiest type of sex for getting or transmitting HIV.

Insurance companies across the country are slated to send close to 50,000 people cancellation notices before November, according to the Morning Consult. That includes at least 30,000 New Mexicans who will be kicked off their plans, the Albuquerque Journal reported Tuesday.

“We got together and said, ‘This would be the right time to make sure all the citizens in the state who had a plan that wasn’t ACA-compliant would have the opportunity to convert to one,” said New Mexico insurance superintendent John Franchini, apparently without any irony. The state decided in May not to extend plans not compliant with Obamacare past the end of 2014.

Experts question two-day delay in admitting Texas Ebola patient

CHICAGO/NEW YORK (Reuters) - The first patient to be diagnosed with Ebola in a U.S. hospital was evaluated initially and turned away, a critical missed opportunity that could result in others being exposed to the deadly virus, infectious disease experts said.

On the patient's first visit to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas last Friday, he walked into the hospital presenting “non-specific symptoms” and was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics, Dr. Edward Goodman, an infectious disease specialist at the hospital, told a news conference on Tuesday.

Law Enforcement: "Stop Encryption -- We Can't Snoop!"

The law enforcement agencies are miffed at Google and Apple for having made it far harder for the snoopers to snoop. The old law of economics holds up: “When prices rise, the quantity demanded falls.” The feds demand — at the older, lower prices — but no one responds.

U.S. law enforcement officials are urging Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Google Inc. (GOOG) to give authorities access to smartphone data that the companies have decided to block, and are weighing whether to appeal to executives or seek congressional legislation.

They need legislation. This means they are stymied. They can break the law, of course, and they will. They are law-enforcement. But the cost has risen.

“This is a very bad idea,” said Cathy Lanier, chief of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, in an interview. Smartphone communication is “going to be the preferred method of the pedophile and the criminal. We are going to lose a lot of investigative opportunities.”

'Psychopath' burglars brutally clubbed nearly 1,000 chickens to death with golf clubs after breaking into an industrial farm in California's Central Valley, police have revealed.

Workers showed up at Foster Farms near Fresno on September 20 to find 920 chickens bludgeoned to death.

Detectives discovered a piece of a golf club that the burglars had left behind.

'Psychopathic behavior, it’s sick behavior. And people who will do this, it can definitely lead to other things,' Fresno County sheriff's deputy Chris Curtice told KPIX-TV.

Amazon adds Tom & Jerry to its online streaming service – but warns users the classic cartoons are RACIST

Fans of classic Tom and Jerry cartoons have been warned that episodes of the iconic show may depict scenes of 'ethnic and racial prejudice'.

Subscribers to Amazon Prime Instant Video are now met with a caution before viewing certain episodes of the long-running cartoon.

It follows concerns that the representation of a black maid on early episodes of the cartoon show - which made its first episodes in the 1940s - was an example of the era's prejudices.

Poll: Hogan momentum surges in late September as Brown’s effort to frighten women backfires; 14 point gap closes to statistical dead heat

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The latest independent poll finds Larry Hogan’s grassroots campaign for governor surged in late September, all but erasing a 14 point opponent Anthony Brown held just earlier (New York Times / CBS News survey). Conducted by the bipartisan Gonzales Research & Marketing of Arnold, Md. the poll shows that Hogan is now within a statistical dead heat with sitting Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, who leads 47 – 43 percent, with a 3.5 percent margin of error.

According Hogan Spokesman Adam Dubitsky, “This poll makes clear that Anthony Brown’s strategy to try to frighten Maryland women with millions of dollars in dishonest attack ads has backfired. So it is no surprise that Anthony Brown is now trying once again to change the topic to anything but his failed record on the economy.”

Hogan’s gains are all the more significant as it comes during non-stop barrage of negative ads by Anthony Brown’s campaign and the Democratic Governors Association which is spending millions to support a sitting lt. governor in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by two to one. Brown’s ads have been slammed by news outlets as wildly dishonest.

Workplace dispute likely preceded murder-suicide in Potomac, police say

Montgomery County police said they think an employee at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation who was accused of theft in the workplace killed a foundation executive’s wife in her Potomac home Tuesday.

Police said the worker, Andrew Racca, 42, committed suicide soon after and was found in a crashed Mercedes-Benz. Authorities said they think the victim is 57-year-old Carolyn Mattingly, whose husband, C. Richard Mattingly, is executive vice president of the foundation.

Racca had been called in by officials at the foundation Monday and was told they suspected him of theft, and that the police would be contacted, said Capt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman. Police said Racca did not show up for work Tuesday.

How Bad Could It Get? US Government Order Of 160,000 HazMat Suits Gives A Clue

Now that Ebola is officially in the US on an uncontrolled basis, the two questions on everyone's lips are i) who will get sick next and ii) how bad could it get?

We don't know the answer to question #1 just yet, but when it comes to the second one, a press release three weeks ago from Lakeland Industries, a manufacturer and seller of a "comprehensive line of safety garments and accessories for the industrial protective clothing market" may provide some insight into just how bad the US State Department thinks it may get. Because when the US government buys 160,000 hazmat suits specifically designed against Ebola, just ahead of the worst Ebola epidemic in history making US landfall, one wonders: what do they know the we don't?

New Poll Shows Brown Leads Hogan By Single Digits

With a little more than a month to go before the general election, a new poll on Maryland's gubernatorial race finds the contest between Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and Republican Larry Hogan getting closer.

The Gonzales Research and Associates poll was commissioned by the Maryland My Maryland PAC, which is independent, but whose leaders support Larry Hogan.

It shows that Brown has 47-percent, Hogan 43-percent.

Brown's 4-percent lead is just above the margin of error of the poll at plus or minus 3.5.-percent.

After the primary in June, Brown held an 18-percent lead.

Rand in South Carolina: Obama Acting Like 'Third World Autocrat' Who Does 'Whatever the Hell He Wants'

COLUMBIA, South Carolina — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) heaped contempt on President Barack Obama’s executive overreach in a speech to University of South Carolina students here Tuesday morning, saying that Obama is behaving like a banana republic dictator.

Paul’s harshest criticism of Obama came when he criticized the administration for launching airstrikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) without congressional authorization for doing so.

"The president says that ‘if Congress won’t act, I must.’ That sounds like what you hear from a third world autocrat," Paul said. "That doesn’t sound like someone who believes in a Republic and rule of law. ‘If Congress won’t act, I will’? Congress is too messy for him. Democracy is too messy for him so he’s just going to do whatever the hell he wants."

A slapdash Secret Service detail isn't what's wrong with the White House - the real scandal is a President who is so complacent about protecting Americans

President Obama this week committed professional suicide.

Let me explain.

There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished.

The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy.

Hoping to avoid waiting in line to vote this November?

Move to Alaska. The Government Accountability Office released a report on wait times for voters. It found that in 2012, Alaskans waited an average of 1.4 minutes to vote.

Who has it the worst?

Floridians, who waited from 25 to 43 minutes. Maryland and Virginia also top the list of longest waits, with about 12 percent of those voters waiting an hour or more.

The good news?

GAO estimates that 78 percent of local jurisdictions don't have waits it considers too long.

An official who oversees programs for Mexico's 50 consulates in the U.S. said funding is limited and granted on a case-by-case basis.

Citizenship and Immigration Services said foreign governments are not restricting from filing the fees.

Republican Congressman Wants To Get Rid Of Senior Executives At The VA

One congressman is calling on the new VA secretary to use his power to quickly get rid of senior executives for poor performance or misconduct.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) is chairman of the Veterans Affairs subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. He wants action against Susan Taylor, the deputy chief procurement officer in the Veterans Health Administration.

A new inspector general audit stated she misused her office and created conflicts of interest in dealings with the reverse auction firm FedBid. Coffman also wants Secretary Bob McDonald to examine whether FedBid is a responsible contractor. He called Taylor "the personification of the morally bankrupt and ethically impaired culture that exists within the department."
