Dropbox's Drew Houston will be another coder at the event, which will reportedly address"the problems within our immigration system." LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman will host the hackathon at his company's Mountain View, California headquarters on November 21 and 22.

Black Mob Pounces On Young White Couple

The attack happened Monday, Oct. 14, six days before it appeared in print in the Daily News.

Pace, making an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” was asked by host Chris Wallace about the mood inside the White House.

“As someone who covers the White House, how worried are they about what’s going on here?” Wallace asked.

MILLER: D.C. Police Help Get Firearms To National Cathedral For Event To Promote Gun Control

The highly restrictive firearms laws in Washington, D.C., are enforced differently depending on your status and political position on gun control.

Once again, the D.C. police are using their resources to provide illegal guns for a public relations stunt intended to pressure politicians to pass federal restrictions on the Second Amendment.

Outside the Washington National Cathedral on Sunday, blacksmiths will “forge firearms into garden tools” as a symbolic enactment of this year’s theme, “Swords into Plowshares.”

The Children's Defense Fund, which is cosponsoring the event, said in a press release that blacksmiths will be using “illegal guns confiscated by the police.”

The dramatic scene will follows a children’s church service in which the organization’s president Marian Wright Edelman will speak.

It is illegal in the District to possess a firearm that is not registered. When asked about the event, Police Chief Cathy Lanier’s spokesman said that, “These are not firearms. They are scrap parts only, and they are inoperable.”

AP Sources: 476,000 Obamacare Applications Filed

Administration officials say about 476,000 health insurance applications have been filed through federal and state exchanges, the most detailed measure yet of the problem-plagued rollout of President Barack Obama's signature legislation.

However, the officials continue to refuse to say how many people have actually enrolled in the insurance markets. Without enrollment figures, it's unclear whether the program is on track to reach the 7 million people projecting by the Congressional Budget Office to gain coverage during the six-month sign-up period.

Obama's advisers say the president has been frustrated by the flawed rollout. During one of his daily health care briefings last week, he told advisers assembled in the Oval Office that the administration had to own up to the fact that there were no excuses for not having the website ready to operate as promised.

TROOPERS REMIND MOTORISTS TO ‘MOVE OVER’ IT’S THE LAW AND IT HELPS KEEP EMERGENCY WORKERS SAFE

After one trooper was struck and critically injured and another trooper’s car was destroyed within four days, it is clear to Maryland State Police that drivers need to be reminded about the state’s ‘move over’ law, which is intended to increase safety for police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel when they are working along Maryland roads.

State troopers across Maryland will be conducting coordinated traffic initiatives on October 21, 2013, reminding motorists of the importance of the ‘move over” law. Special enforcement operations will be underway in every area of the state. Drivers are being warned now to be alert for these operations.

Early on the morning of October 6, 2013, Trooper Jacqueline Kline was struck by a passing vehicle while she was assisting another trooper on the shoulder of Rt. 100 in Anne Arundel County. The preliminary investigation indicates the driver failed to move over as he passed the two marked police cars with their emergency lights activated. Trooper Kline remains hospitalized in critical condition.

While investigating a crash on I-695 in Baltimore County on October 12, 2013, Trooper First Class Justin Updegraff’s marked patrol car was destroyed when a driver failed to move over or slow down. Fortunately, Tfc. Updegraff was outside his vehicle when it was struck. He did not sustain any injuries.

The intent of the ‘move over’ law is to provide an extra barrier of safety for police officers, firefighters, and emergency rescue personnel working on Maryland roads.
The law requires drivers approaching from the rear of a stopped emergency vehicle with it lights activated, to change into an available lane not next to the emergency vehicle. This movement should only be done if safe to do so. When there is no available lane for drivers to move over into, such as on a single lane road, drivers are required to slow to a reasonable and prudent speed as they pass the emergency scene.

It is hoped this awareness initiative will remind drivers to be aware of police and emergency workers stopped on the roads and to move away from them or slow down as they pass by the traffic stop or incident scene. Violation of the ‘move over’ law is a primary offense with a fine of $110 and one point. If the violation contributes to a traffic crash, the fine is $150 and three points. If the violation contributes to a traffic crash resulting in death or serious injury, the fine is $750 and three points.

Salisbury Police Vehicle

While I was cruising along Rt. 50 yesterday heading west I noticed a Salisbury Police Vehicle pulling onto Rt. 50 in Willards. I thought it was kind of strange but things got even more interesting. As I passed the vehicle I watched them pull onto Rt. 50 in my direction. In no time at all they were on my bumper and I stayed at 62  mph and simply pulled to the right lane. There were no emergency lights on. OK, here's what ticked me off. They no sooner pressured me to pull into the right lane, they also pulled off Rt. 50 at the next exit in Willards. You know who owns the road Mr. Police Officer, I DO, WE DO. The next time I'll make damn sure you guys out of your jurisdiction remain on my rear bumper because I'm NOT moving.

The conference generated dialogues regarding the lack of resources and support on the Lower Shore for this population and the need to address this concern. The coalition meets monthly with the primary goals of supporting LGBTQ youth and young adults, reducing intolerance and enhancing acceptance within the community, and increasing the wellbeing of LGBTQ youth and young adults. The LGBTQ Coalition is continually in search of supporters of our mission. New members are always welcome to join in the efforts of advocating, educating, and supporting the LGBTQ youth in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month and alternate between daytime and evening. The location of the meetings vary. Bachmann Blasts Islam, CAIR Fights Back

There is an invisible elephant in the room that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is trying to warn Americans about before it turns into a rampaging herd that overruns everyone.

Bachmann’s recent comments during a Minnesota talk radio interview went unnoticed by the American public, but not by the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) which immediately denounced her claims.

Responding to Christian radio host Jan Markel, Bachmann said, “We’re seeing this all across America. It’s like groups want to top each other and be the new latest, largest mosque in North America. What we’re told is that many of them are funded by the Saudi Arabians or the Qataris. And so many of these mosques’ funding actually comes from foreign countries that have interests in advancing the goals and beliefs of the violent Muslim Brotherhood.”

To some that might seem to be a conspiracy theory or Islamophobia. The problem is that Bachmann is closer to fact than fiction.

Poll: Unpopular Gas Tax Hike Drives Down O’Malley Approval; Brown Leads In Gov Race; Jon Cardin Ahead For AG

Overwhelming voter disapproval of a gas tax hike earlier this year has helped drive Gov. Martin O’Malley’s job approval rating below 50% for the first time in three years, a new poll found.

The Gonzales Research poll also found marginal support, 49% to 44%, for the repeal of the death penalty O’Malley pushed, but wider support for the gun control measures the governor also backed, 58% to 40%.

The results on guns and the death penalty exhibited a sharp partisan divide, with Democrats strongly approving of O’Malley and his legislative initiatives, while Republicans were strongly opposed.

Lt. Gov. Dewhurst Says President Obama Should Be Impeached

FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) – A surprising statement from one of Texas’ top leaders: President Obama should be impeached. This came from Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, who is running for re-election and appeared at a Tea Party candidates forum.

Dewhurst warned that freedoms are being trampled on, and so the President should be impeached. Later he fleshed out his thoughts for the Texas Observer’s Christopher Hooks. “I think this President, Barack Obama, has disregarded federal law. He has tried to do things which are not authorized under federal law. Things he’s disregarded such as immigration. He’s not, not following our federal drug laws. And he has created winners and losers in Obamacare where he has no authority,” according to Dewhurst, who pointed out the extensions given to unions and big businesses.

In mid-May, federal officials concluded an investigation into a multi-million dollar cigarette smuggling operation with raids on two locations in and around the resort area including the West Ocean City homes of local residents and business owners Basel Ramadan, 42, who has been called the “ringleader” of the operation, and Samer Ramadan, 40, who is being called the operation’s “enterprise treasurer.” Also indicted were 14 other alleged co-conspirators, from transporters to distributors to resellers, who were rounded up at locations all over the mid-Atlantic region on the same day in May.

But to blame George W. Bush for the one-sixth government shutdown? That’s just taking ridiculous to a whole new level.

Mikulski: Deal Allows 1 Percent Raise For Federal Workers

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski, chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said Wednesday that the deal approved by Congress to reopen the federal government would also allow President Barack Obama to go forward with his plan to offer a 1 percent pay raise to federal employees.

Federal employee pay has been frozen for three years. The Obama administration has attempted to offer small raises before, but the effort failed to capture support in Congress. In a joint statement, Mikulski and Sen. Ben Cardin said the agreement would allow the raises to take effect in January.

The legislation also provides retroactive pay for federal workers, which Cardin had pressed for in the Senate.

"The promise of a modest pay raise and back pay for furloughed government employees are good first steps in recognizing the value of federal workers," Mikulski, a Maryland Democrat said in a statement. "They have been the targets of unending attacks. They've been furloughed, laid off and locked out through no fault of their own."

Foodstamp Program Shutdown Imminent?

When over the weekend, a Xerox "glitch" shut down the EBT system, better known as foodstamps, for nearly the entire day across 17 states leaving millions without "funding" to pay for food leading to dramatic examples of the basest human behavior possible, some of the more conspiratorial elements saw this merely as a dress rehearsal for what may be coming in the immediate future. While there was no basis to believe that is the case, a USDA (the currently shuttered agency that administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) memo obtained by the Crossroads Urban Center in Utah carries in it a very disturbing warning for the 46+ million Americans currently on foodstamps.

To wit: "understanding the operational issues and constraints that States face, and in the interest of preserving maximum flexibility, we are directing States to hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice." In other words, as Fox13News summarizes, "States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice."

IF YOU ARE NOT CATHOLIC, THIS IS EYE OPENING...

When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals. Today, one out of five people in this country receive their medical care at a Catholic hospital. When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools. Today, the Catholic Church teaches 3 million students a day, in its more than 250 Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High Schools and its more than 5000 Catholic grade schools.Every day, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than any other organization in the world. The new Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers would have to make up the loss. Also, all Catholic adoption services would come to an end; a human disaster.
There are more than 77 million Catholics in this country. It takes an
estimated 50 million Catholic votes to elect a president. I am asking all of you to go to the polls in 2014 and be united in replacing all Senators and Reps with someone who will respect the Catholic Church, all Christians, and all Religions with the exception of Islam.
Mr. President, you said, "The USA is not a Christian Nation". You are wrong we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values allowing all religions in America to Worship & Practice Freely. Something Islam will never do.Oh, by the way, on MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America ...
Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital, heard a Muslim orchestra, seen a Muslim band march in a parade, know of a Muslim charity, ever seen Muslims shaking hands with a Muslim Girl Scout, or ever seen a Muslim Candy Striper volunteering in a hospital?Have you ever seen a Muslim do much of anything that contributes positively to the American way of life?

House Republicans Schedule Obama Impeachment Hearings: UPDATE

Publishers Notes: The article on Before It's News and other sites is a HOAX. It originated with the Daily Currant, it's a spoof, a hoax an out and out lie.

Republicans in the House of Representatives have scheduled impeachment proceedings against President Obama, claiming his inability to halt the federal government shutdown makes him unfit for office.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann introduced a resolution to impeach Obama this morning and referred the matter to the House Judiciary Committee. Senior aides close to judiciary chairman Bob Goodlatte say hearings will begin Thursday.

"I think it's high time President Obama be held accountable for his crimes," explains Bachmann. "For two weeks now, vital government services have been disrupted, federal workers have gone without pay and national memorials have been closed, all because of the president's refusal to negotiate over Obamacare.

‘Barrycades’ Torn Down, Dumped At White House

'Obama, you can't call on the SEALs because the SEALs are already there'

Thousands of Americans have taken the government shutdown into their own hands, literally, as they stormed into the nation’s capital, tearing down barricades blocking off the World War II Memorial on the National Mall Sunday morning.

“Barrycades are down,” tweeted Sherry Lucas, a reference to President Barack Obama’s childhood nickname of Barry.

Many of the barricades were then hand-carried by the protesters and dumped in front of the White House.

Md. Will Not Pay For Assateague’s National Park To Open; Government Shutdown Hits Two Weeks Tomorrow

ASSATEAGUE — With the federal government shutdown entering its second week, the Obama administration last week announced it would allow the national parks to reopen if the individual states paid for the costs, but no changes are expected at Assateague Island National Seashore.

The country’s 400 national parks have been closed for two weeks now after the federal government shut down on Oct. 1, causing economic hardship in many states, particularly those out west, that depend on a strong fall tourism season generated by its parks in places like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, for example. Last week, the federal government announced it would allow national parks and historic sites to reopen if the states paid for the operating costs and some states have already jumped at the chance.

Maryland has a number of national parks and historic sites operated by the federal government, including Assateague Island National Seashore. However, with many alternatives available to state residents and visitors, Maryland is not jumping at the chance to open its national parks, including Assateague, on its own dime.

Spite: White House Reinstalls Barricades At World War II Memorial

In a move being seen by many as part of President Obama's spiteful and vindictive campaign to intentionally inflict pain on Americans, barricades -- nicknamed "barrycades" after Obama -- were reinstalled around the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., after they were torn down and dumped in front of the White House, Twitchy reported Monday.

"Installing new government shutdown barricades at World War II Memorial," tweeted FoxDC's Dave Rysack, who issued a picture of the barricades being reinstalled.

NFL Commissioner Confident Redskins Owner Weighing Name Debate

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he believes Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is "way down the road" in consideration of whether the team should change its nickname.

Goodell got a question Sunday about the latest debate over the name during a question-and-answer session with Dallas season ticket-holders before the Cowboys' game against the Redskins.

The commissioner repeated what he said during the owners' meetings last week - that he grew up in Washington and considered everything about the name to be something that honored the tradition of Native Americans.

Amazing

I took this picture yesterday in Delmar. No, this wasn't planted. The cat simply found it on the ground. Some people told me they used to see them all the time in the ditches around Delmar when they were kids but haven't seen them since. How about you?

Krokodil, The Flesh-Eating Street Drug That Rots Skin From Inside-Out, Expands To Illinois

It's called "the most horrible drug in the world" -- and it's come to Illinois.

Dr. Abhin Singala, a specialist at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in the Chicago suburb of Joliet, said he's treating three people who took "krokodil," a cheap heroin knockoff from Russia known to cause such extreme gangrene and abscesses that a user's muscles, tendons and bones can become exposed.

“If you want to kill yourself, this is the way to do it,” Singla said according to the Sun-Times.

Do You Think Wicomico County's Government is Transparent? Recent Sage Group Report - Agenda

Hello Joe, I've seen some interesting happenings going on around our county government.  So I would like to put out how I perceive them and then ask our citizens how they perceive them. I've often heard the word "transparency" used in relation to our county government. One  definition  says that you can see clearly through something without distortion. I like to view transparency as free from pretense or deception. Let's look at something put out at one of our recent County Council meetings. I believe our County Administrator was making a point to the Council that something should be done with the Revenue Cap and referenced The Sage Group Report. Now for those of you who have not read this report I suggest you take the time to read it. It's on line under Wicomico County Government Financial. At this time I would like to thank Mr. Strausburg for inviting me to this forum as it gives me first hand account as to what went on, at least in my group. Most  of our county government personnel like to keep a distance between themselves and VOICE members but I have to give it to Mr. Strausburg because I was invited. First of all I would like to give you my perception of the Sage Report. If you are in County Government and want to do something the best thing to do is to pay for a report that will support what you are trying to do. Thus The Sage Report. Paid for by our County Executive to say what he's been wanting to do for years and that is to get rid of the Revenue Cap. Now as you read through this report I want you to take notice that you don't see any suggestions that weren't already put out at some time in one of many meeting attended by our citizens. But what the County Executive can now say is "it was recommended by The Sage Group". That's the reason for the thirty thousand dollars paid for out of our taxpayers pockets. This I call "deception". I also want you to note that there is no mention of the names of who attended these meetings and what comments they said. For some reason the County Executive appears to not want the citizens to know who attended these sessions and what they said. Didn't he run on what's that word? Oh yeah, "Transparency". Well let's be transparent about it Mr. County Executive, who were the people in this group and what was their input? Perhaps taxpayers would like to know about suggestions of speed cameras and how they could bring in more revenue. Or perhaps they could hear from the businessman who said that businesses didn't support the Revenue Cap because of the negative aspects on the Board of Education. Yeah, let's hear his name and what business he owns. Here's a point that came up often in the report and guess where you hear it from all the time? "The County Can Not Cut Any Spending ". Ever hear that from our County Administration side of government or the BOE? Almost at every meeting. But how would any citizen know about what could be cut and what can't be cut? The citizens are purposely kept in the dark. Just look back a week ago when our County Executive tried to keep top salaries hidden from the people. After seeing them I don't blame him because I feel he owes the citizens a good reason for what he tried to do. For years I have stood in front of our County Council and ask that a full copy of the BOE and County Budget be put in the Library and County Office Building for the citizens to review. You know the budget I'm talking about. Not the 8-10 pages given out at meetings but the four inch copies used by the County Council. Does anyone know if that's been done yet? I truly haven't had the chance to check this out. A member of one group stated that he can see the money going into the BOE but just can't see where it is being spent! He wasn't in my group and if I knew his name I would shake his hand for pointing out what just about every citizen knows and the County Government won't do anything about it. What's that word again? Oh yeah, Transparency". Another idea that this report keeps putting out is "the citizens didn't really understand what they were signing when the Revenue Cap was put up for the Citizens to vote on. How many times have we heard this at numerous meetings by the same people? I think that the County Executive believes that if he keeps having this put out (and remember, this is in The Sage Report) he believes people will believe it. So here's what I would like to see.I would like people to read the Sage Report and see if perhaps the County Executive's office is now using it to justify their means. I would also like to see the names of the people who made up the groups for the Sage Report and have them comment on their inputs. Put your name on it if you believe in what you said. Don't hide behind "Anonymous"

Rascovar Commentary On Ben Carson’s Split Personality

As a pediatric neurosurgeon, Ben Carson was spectacular. His extraordinary eye-hand coordination and three-dimensional skills led to the world’s first separation of twins joined at the head — a 22-hour procedure requiring an expert Johns Hopkins surgical team of 70.

As a philanthropist, he and his wife are exemplary leaders in awarding scholarships to deserving youths who strive to be the best, regardless of economic or societal circumstances.

But as a novice political commentator, Ben Carson is displaying a less admirable side.

MSNBC President Wants 'Investigation' Into Fox News' 'Impossible' Ratings Gain

Megyn Kelly blew out Rachel Maddow in the key demo on Tuesday after losing to her the night before. "I have never seen it in all my years of cable," says Phil Griffin.

Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, says there's something fishy about Tuesday's ratings for the Fox News Channel, which were up significantly from a day earlier when Fox News debuted its new schedule. And he wants an investigation.

"Monday we had a really good day in the key demographic. On the night that Fox News debuted their three shows, we either tied or beat them in those hours," Griffin said at a briefing, according to TVNewser.

Attorney General Gansler Depicted As Reckless Passenger By Md. Troopers Who Drove Him

Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler regularly ordered state troopers assigned to drive him to turn on the lights and sirens on the way to routine appointments, directing them to speed, run red lights and bypass traffic jams by using the shoulder, according to written accounts by the Maryland State Police.

When troopers refused to activate the emergency equipment, Gansler, now a Democratic candidate for governor, often flipped the switches himself, according to the police accounts. And on occasion, he became so impatient that he insisted on driving, directing the trooper to the passenger’s seat. Gansler once ran four red lights with sirens blaring, a trooper wrote. Another account said he “brags” about driving the vehicle unaccompanied on weekends with the sirens on.

BLOGGER ON FAR-LEFT WEBSITE THOUGHT HE ‘COULD GO ALONG’ WITH OBAMACARE – NOW HE CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT’S HAPPENING TO HIS HEALTH INSURANCE

As the realities of Obamacare continue to sink in, more and more people are getting letters from their health insurance providers telling them that their plans no longer comply with federal requirements under Obamacare. We just brought you the story of “Trick Shot Titus” and his familyfacing significant increases in the cost of their health care plans.

Now, a community blogger on the far-left Daily Kos website has penned a blog post complaining that both he and his wife are facing a nearly 100 percent increase in their monthly premiums. He claims he is canceling his insurance and refuses to pay any “f***ing penalty.”

Blogger “Tirge Caps” explains:

My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don’t go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.

Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife’s rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.

I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any f***ing penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?
