The idling of General Motors’ (GM) transmission plant in Warren, Michigan, is expected to cost about 16,000 jobs in the state over the next two years, analysis finds, as hundreds of laid-off American workers have already been uprooted.
Last week, GM CEO Mary Barra idled the 78-year-old Warren Transmission plant, leaving about 335 American workers laid off from their jobs and forcing them to either find new work in the area or uproot their lives to take jobs at the automaker’s other plants.
Barra, last year, announced GM would stop production at four of its U.S. plants, including Detroit-Hamtramck and Warren Transmission in Michigan, Lordstown Assembly in Ohio, and Baltimore Operations in Maryland. The Lordstown Assembly plant closure has resulted in the immediate layoff of about 1,500 American workers, while another 8,000 workers in supporting jobs in the community are expected to be laid off as well. GM, though, is still hoping to sell the plant to another manufacturer.

House Democrats Are Coming For Brett Kavanaugh
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee asked the National Archives Tuesday to release documents from Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s service in the George W. Bush White House.
The request tracks Democratic promises to scrutinize Kavanaugh even after his confirmation to the Supreme Court.
“The Senate Judiciary Committee received only a small fraction of Justice Kavanaugh’s White House records before voting on his nomination,” Democratic Reps. Jerry Nadler of New York and Henry Johnson of Georgia wrote in a letter to the Archives. Nadler chairs the Judiciary Committee, while Johnson leads a subcommittee that oversees the federal bench.

Grandma Thwarts Shooting by Convincing Grandson to Get Medical Help
A grandmother in Lubbock, Texas, stopped a possible mass shooting by convincing her grandson to get medical help after he told her he planned to kill people with his rifle.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Texas said in a press release that William Patrick Williams, 19, told his grandmother in July that he had purchased an AK-47 and planned to “shoot up” a hotel, then commit suicide.
However, Williams’ grandmother pleaded with him to seek medical treatment at a nearby hospital and he agreed, according to authorities.
“Sensing he was both homicidal and suicidal, she convinced him to allow her to bring him to a local hospital instead,” the press release said.
Reports state that police found the AK-47 inside a hotel room Williams had rented, along with 17 loaded magazines, knives, and black clothing. A T-shirt found in the room had the words “Let ‘Em Come” printed on it.
Authorities also found documents chronicling Williams’ depression disorder and anti-depressant medication inside the hotel room.

ACLU Sues To Stop Trump From Deporting Illegals So Quickly
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit on Tuesday to block a Trump administration policy that fast-tracks deportations of illegal aliens.
The lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of immigrant-rights groups We Count! and Make the Road New York, argues that President Donald Trump’s expansion of expedited removal has stripped immigrants of due process and has led to wrongful deportations.
“Hundreds of thousands of people living anywhere in the U.S. are at risk of being separated from their families and expelled from the country without any recourse,” ACLU lawyer Anand Balakrishnan said in a prepared statement released Tuesday. “This is a dramatic — and illegal — escalation in the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant communities.”

Johnstone: Americans Should Be Very Skeptical Of Calls For New "Terrorism" Laws
Two mass shootings have rocked the United States in less than 24 hours, leaving dozens dead and many more wounded. The first in El Paso, Texas was allegedly perpetrated by a white supremacist whose racist motives are outlined in a rambling “manifesto”, the second allegedly by a self-described “leftist” whose motives, like the 2017 Las Vegas shooter, are presently unknown. These incidents occurred a week after another mass shooting in Gilroy, California.
All the usual US gun control debates have of course reignited, which is understandable. Alongside this debate, however, we are seeing another, far more pernicious agenda being raised that I would like to address here.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, notorious liar and propagandist Malcolm Nance claimed that existing laws aren’t sufficient for prosecuting the El Paso shooter, because there are no laws designating his act of mass murder as “domestic terrorism”.

Dayton gunman was pro-gun control, friend says
The gunman who fatally shot nine people -- including his sister -- and injured more than two dozen in Dayton, Ohio, early Sunday was “anti-Second Amendment” and “never spit out a conservative opinion on gun control,” according to a former classmate and friend.
The 24-year-old gunman, who was killed by police less than a minute after he opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle outside a crowded bar, attended Bellbrook High School with Will El-Fakir, the Dayton Daily News reported.
El-Fakir told the paper he stopped talking to him five months ago after the future killer held a gun to his head.
El-Fakir told the paper that his former pal was “definitely not a right-leaning person. His political views definitely leaned to the left."
In the last months of their friendship, El-Fakir said his troubled friend was getting violent with pals and surveyed bars as good places to do “damage.”

Oh, So That’s Why The Liberal Media Is Painfully Avoiding Dayton Shooter’s Political Beliefs
The liberal media is the arm of the Democratic Party and its agenda. That’s no secret, but if they think they can get away with what they’re doing with the Dayton shooting—their arrogance (or stupidity) has reached unprecedented levels. I mean there have been pretty explicit examples, but we've seen some pretty epic ‘hold my beer’ moments, as the various arms of this corrupt enterprise seem to be in a competition to out-do one another in displaying that liberal bias.
In less than 24 hours, we had two brutal mass shootings. In all, 31 people have been killed and scores more injured. In El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, two armed nutjobs executed senseless acts of carnage. The political games began almost immediately. El Paso was committed by a white supremacist, whose anti-immigrant views were just as explicit as his apparent adherence to eco-terrorism. In Dayton, the shooter, Connor Betts, a disturbed individual who had kill and rape lists of his classmates, was an avowed leftist, who backed Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), gun control, and supported the left-wing extremist group Antifa. These aren’t necessarily clear-cut cases of white supremacist violence, which the media has tried to force-feed down our throats. There’s loads of nuance.

Brazilian President Bolsonaro: ‘Criminals Will Die In The Streets Like Cockroaches’
On Monday, Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro spoke of his wish that legislators will agree with him to loosen the country’s criminal code in order to capture more criminals, saying, “These guys [criminals] are going to die in the streets like cockroaches, and that's how it should be.” He added, “We have to give a legal back up to the security people: civil, military, federal, road police.”
The Daily Mail added, “Bolsonaro said the 'unequal' battle against crime is hindered by policemen being prosecuted for shooting gangsters rather than given medals.”
According to Globo, the Rio de Janeiro Military Police Secretariat issued a statement asserting that "the operations of the Corporation are guided by prior planning and carried out within the law. In actions in conflagrated areas, the mission of the Military Police is primarily the arrest of criminals and the apprehension of weapons and drugs. Often, however, criminals opt for confrontation, starting the confrontation. When the police operation results in deaths or injuries, a Military Police Inquiry is opened to ascertain the circumstances of the fact … in relation to the numbers of the Institute of Public Security (ISP) for March, the most important is to highlight the 32% drop in intentional homicides, representing the lowest rate for the month in 28 years. The indicator lethality violent crime also decreased by 24% compared to March 2018.”

Common Prostate Cancer Treatment Can Raise Odds of Deadly Heart Condition
Many men with prostate cancer rely on common testosterone-blocking drugs as a part of their treatment. But those so-called antiandrogens also might put them at risk for a deadly heart condition, according to new research.
In a study published Monday in the American Heart Association journal Circulation, researchers looked at how several testosterone-blocking drugs affect the heart's QT interval – the time it takes the heart cells to recharge in between beats.
The longer a QT interval, typically measured by an electrocardiogram, the more at risk a person is to develop serious heart rhythm problems and a condition called torsade de pointes, which can result in sudden death. Women naturally have a longer QT interval than men, and they are at higher risk for this form of arrhythmia.

Ohio lawmaker blames gay marriage, video games and Obama for Dayton tragedy
COLUMBUS, Ohio — An Ohio lawmaker is placing the blame for Sunday's mass shooting in Dayton on gay marriage, recreational marijuana, and former President Barack Obama.
Rep. Candice Keller (R-Middletown) started off her post on Facebook by saying, "after every mass shooting, the liberals start the blame game. Why not place the blame where it belongs?"
"The breakdown of the traditional American family (thank you, transgender, homosexual marriage, and drag queen advocates); fatherlessness, a subject no one discusses or believes is relevant; the ignoring of violent video games; the relaxing of laws against criminals (open borders)."

Leftist ‘Intellectual’ Calls For ‘Eradicating’ Trump Supporters
Reza Aslan is supposedly an intellectual. He’s an Iranian-born religious studies scholar who has written several books, mostly centered on religion. A Muslim himself, he has written extensively about his faith. He’s also written about how to end religious extremism within his faith. Sounds good, for what it’s worth. However, Aslan isn’t a moderate individual. Not by a long shot.
Being one of the “blue checkmarks” on Twitter, he’s also a favorite intellectual among many on the Left. However, if he wants to talk about ending extremism, he might want to start looking in the mirror.
After being called on it, he followed up with this:

Donald Trump lashes out at Barack Obama
Donald Trump on Tuesday struck back at Barack Obama's condemnation of rhetoric he's used, arguing he's the 'least racist person,' and used an edited quote from a 'Fox & Friends' host to back up his point.
The president's defense comes after Obama issued a hard-hitting statement Monday that did not use Trump's name but called on Americans to 'soundly reject' leaders who feed 'a climate of fear and hatred' - which was widely interpreted as a denouncement of Trump.
Trump fired back at the charge.
'I am the least racist person,' the president argued in an early morning tweet.

But after the Blue Checkmark Mafia freaked out, the Times caved with a late edition headline that reads, “Assailing Hate But Not Guns.”

Far-Left Protesters Descend on Mitch McConnell’s Home, Threaten to “Stab the M*f*ker"
Far-left protesters gathered outside Mitch McConnell’s Kentucky home last night, with one of them threatening to “stab the m*f*ker in the heart.”

Saavedra tracked down the Facebook page of the person who allegedly made the threat, where she was pictured alongside Elizabeth Warren.
The harassment campaign continued into the night off the back of a Twitter trend called #MassacreMoscowMitch. The protesters demanded that McConnell come outside.

CNN Confirms: Dayton Shooter Had ‘Extreme’ Left-Wing Views
CNN acknowledged Monday night that the mass shooter in Dayton, Ohio, appeared to have “extreme” left-wing views, based on a Twitter feed that has been widely linked to the gunman.
The CNN report came out roughly 24 hours after Breitbart News reported the same information — and just hours after the Dayton Daily News confirmed that the shooter “definitely leaned to the left” and had spoken extensively in the recent past about shooting up local bars.
The report — which appears on CNN’s website, but has not apparently appeared on air as of this writing — states:
"A Twitter account that appears to belong to Dayton mass shooter Connor Betts re-tweeted extreme left-wing and anti-police posts, as well as tweets supporting Antifa, or anti-fascist, protesters."

No, the United States Doesn’t Lead the World in Mass Shootings
As expected, Democrats immediately began politicizing the shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. Quite a few of them even blamed Trump. Like clockwork, calls for more gun control have commenced. Democrats are even trying to pressure Mitch McConnell to cancel the Senate recess so they can vote on gun control.
A common myth you can expect to hear a lot in the coming days and weeks is that the United States “leads the world in mass shootings” and therefore we must pass some law that will do nothing to stop future mass shootings, but will infringe on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
What you might not hear is that this claim is completely bogus.
Sure, if you following conservative media, you’re probably aware of this. Townhall, The Daily Signal, Bearing Arms, FEE, The Washington Examiner, and others have all previously reported on how the myth that the United States leads the world in mass shootings is based on a deeply flawed study, which has been debunked by the Crime Prevention Research Center.

Dayton Mayor Encourages Trump Protests When Trump Pays His Respects To Shooting Victims
The mayor of Dayton, Ohio, encouraged her constituents to protest the arrival of President Donald Trump when he travels to the city to pay his respects to the victims of a recent mass shooting.
“I have lots of protesters all the time and even my friends protest me from time to time, so I’m glad that they’re using their right to give free speech comment,” Democratic mayor Nan Whaley told reporters on Tuesday. “Look, I know that [Trump has] made this bed and he’s got to lie in it.”
“His rhetoric has been painful for many in our community,” she continued. “I think the people should stand up and say they’re not happy if they’re not happy that he’s coming.”
Following the tragedy, Trump addressed the nation, urging all Americans to come together to condemn racism, and called for bipartisan cooperation on determining potential solutions to a recent slew of mass shootings.
Whaley referred to Trump’s remarks as “unhelpful” and further noted that she intended to tell him that face-to-face when he arrived in the Ohio town.
