Bernie Sanders: ‘We will raise taxes, yes we will’

DES MOINES, Iowa – With just a week to go before the critical Iowa Caucuses, Bernie Sanders Monday night acknowledged in the most clear terms yet that his single-payer health care plan would raise taxes.

“We will raise taxes, yes we will,” Sanders said to moderator Chris Cuomo of CNN at a Democratic forum on the campus of Drake University.

It’s the kind of blunt, un-politician-like talk that has endeared Sanders to his fans, but it’s also a comment ready-made for a political attack ad.

Sanders went on to say that a focus on taxes entirely misses the point, because his plan would reduce health insurance premiums by even more than it would raise taxes. The campaign of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has attacked her opponent’s health plan for tax hikes, a charge Sanders Monday night called “unfair criticism” because his plan would ultimately save people money.

Fox News finally responds to Donald Trump’s request to remove Megyn Kelly

Donald Trump stated that there was a conflict of interest in having Megyn Kelly work the debate. Fox finally responded.

Megyn Kelly has no conflict of interest,” the network said in a statement to The Hill. “Donald Trump is just trying to build up the audience for Thursday’s debate, for which we thank him.”

Trump tried to eliminate her because he likes to irritate the people he doesn’t like. Fox said no because watching her spar with Trump is great for ratings. It’s not really about debates, it’s about ratings.

Approx. $400K Worth Of Heroin, Stolen Handgun Seized In Baltimore

BALTIMORe (WJZ)—After a multi-week drug investigation by the Baltimore Police Department, multiple items have been seized from a suspected home, including stolen handgun and heroin worth $400,000 on the street.

The investigation began weeks ago when a person in the community contacted the Metro Crime Stoppers about drug activity happening in the area.

On Tuesday night, Baltimore Police say they observed the suspect leaving a home and get into a vehicle which later led to a traffic stop.

During the investigation, police say they seized four kilos of heroin worth $400,000 on the street, approximately $80,000 in cash and a stolen 9mm handgun from North Carolina.

Transgender athletes to be allowed to compete as other sex in the Olympics WITHOUT having surgery

If you were wondering when trans people would ruin the Olympics, then wonder no more. It’s OK for transgender people to compete, but they should compete as the sex that they were born, or at the very least, get the gender reassignment surgery so we know you’re serious about the transition and not just dressing up as a woman to win a gold medal in Rio. Don’t worry folks, new rules may change that! The new rules may state that trans people don’t have to get the gender reassignment. So now you will see men competing as women and completely ruining the entire Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee received proposed guidelines in November from its ‘Consensus Meeting on Sex Reassignment and Hyperandrogenism’, which allow for broader policies that would include transgender athletes.

The policy change would be in line with NCAA standards in the United States, which allow male-to-female and female-to-male transgender athletes to compete without having gender reassignment surgery, according to ESPN.

Survivors share their stories on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — The images are painful and the stories are disturbing. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, survivors like Nat Shaffir recalled their horrifying experiences. "When I was 9 years old we were put into a ghetto. My family and myself. Some of the family that was left behind most of them later were killed," he shared.

Louise Lawrence-Israels lived with her parents and brother in an attic in Amsterdam for three years, not far, she says, from where Ann Frank was hidden. "When I was six months old we had to go into hiding because the transport deportations were starting from Holland to the death camps in Poland," she explained.

This remembrance day falls on the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp in Poland in 1945.

Arresting People For Peeing On Sidewalk Is Racist?

Years of cleaning up the streets of New York have LITERALLY been pissed away by the latest ridiculous claims of public urination arrests being not only ‘racist’ but also are lowering the fines for said crime to help them ‘reach their potential’. By peeing. In public. Yes, really:

The city of New York has determined that people of color pee on the sidewalk more than white people, therefore it is racist to make arrests for it. Also, white people must be quieter than blacks and Hispanics, so that law will no longer be enforced.

Council member Melissa Mark-Viverito explains:

“We know that the system has been really rigged against communities of color in particular. So the question has always been, what can we do in this job to minimize unnecessary interaction with the criminal justice system, so that these young people can really fulfill their potential?”

When Rudy Giuliani was first elected mayor, crime rates were high. Rudy decided to enforce quality of life laws. Sure enough, crime rates dropped. Now the city council is reversing the process. It will be interesting to see the results.

Joey Mustain took his daughter, Stella, to the fast-food chain on Monday and after they finished eating, his daughter traded in her toy for an ice-cream cone. They sat in a booth as Stella ate her dessert and witnessed what Mustain is calling a “beautiful scene.”


“A homeless traveler had walked in and asked if they had any extra food. Mud was wet and caked on his well-traveled shoes. His hair was matted, and his beard wasn’t a statement as much as it was a necessity and a sign that he doesn’t get to shave as often as most of us do,” Mustain said.

Arizona High School Students’ Racist Photo: It’s Time to Retire the N-Word

People were horrified Friday when six white girls at Desert View High School in Phoenix decided to spell out a racial slur on their T-shirts, then post a photo of it to Snapchat where it went viral. My children attend that school, and know the girls involved. One of them has a black boyfriend, and at least a couple of the others have also dated black students. Outrage over the photo has gone national, and a petition asking to expel the students has acquired over 37,000 signatures. It is also asking to fire the principal, because there is a perception the school is only going to suspend the students for five days. The school has not formally announced the discipline, obviously under pressure to throw the book at the students. Rev. Jarrett Maupin, a young man who has fashioned himself into a sort of Al Sharpton of Arizona, is organizing a Black Lives Matter rally at the school Monday afternoon.

Here is the problem: Why do people still think it is acceptable to use such an offensive word and joke about it? I blame their parents. Society has become so politically correct that anyone with a pulse should know that using a word that actually isoffensive is going to result in a backlash. These girls are 17 and 18 years old, old enough to know better. Unfortunately, parents don’t always monitor what their kids are watching on TV, listening to on their iPods and doing on the Internet. Watch a few too many movies with racial slurs in them, with no parental guidance explaining how inappropriate they are, and a teenager may treat them as a joke.

A Jackson, Mississippi man who owns a gun store has put up two signs… he won’t sell guns to Democrats or terrorists. I guess he doesn’t see much of a difference between the two and I have to agree with that. I actually find his signs refreshingly candid and funny. CNN-affiliate WAPT spoke with the gun seller, Tim Wolverton, about the “controversial” signs. Wolverton said at first he posted the signs as a joke, but now things have gotten a little more serious. “Well, it kind of started off as a joke… But of course so is Kenneth Stokes,” said Wolverton. Yes, they have and he is.

Maryland adds 10,500 jobs in December

Maryland added 10,500 jobs in December, capping a year in which the state gained jobs in eight out of 12 months.

The state's preliminary unemployment rate dropped to 5.1 percent in December, down from a revised 5.2 percent a month before, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Maryland's preliminary jobs estimate for November was revised from a gain of 3,600 jobs to a loss of 200.

In December, the private sector led the way, gaining 10,600 jobs, while government jobs decreased by 100.


The education and health services added 5,000 jobs during the month. The trade, transportation and utilities sector grew by 2,600 jobs, while professional and business services gained 900 positions. Manufacturing jobs increased by 300.

Radical Proposal for Non-Citizens and Children to Vote

The Montgomery County Delegation to the Maryland General Assembly is once again pushing a radical proposal, Bill MC 25-16, which would amend the Maryland Constitution and give the Montgomery County Council and the Montgomery County Board of Education election the authority to allow non-citizens and 16 and 17 year olds to vote. The bill was crafted per request of Delegates: Moon, Barve, Carr, Fraser-Hidalgo, Luedtke, Morales, Platt, Robinson, Smith, Sol-Gutiérrez and Waldstreicher and  Senators: Madaleno, Manno and Raskin.

 I have been closely following this issue for the last two years.  I testified before the Montgomery County Council against non-citizens voting because this contradicts the U.S. Constitution.
  
 I previously wrote:

 I am a first generation immigrant. I immigrated to the U.S.A. in 2000. In 2006, I became a U.S. Citizen. To me and many of my fellow first generation immigrants, it's important to take the steps necessary to share in the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. To became a U.S. citizen means first and foremost to have a right to vote and decide the fate of the county, state and country that we are citizens of.
  
This bill is against the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution, Amendment 14, Section 1 clearly states "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.  No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States". Unless, Montgomery County plans on becoming a Sovereign Democratic People's Republic of Montgomery County with its own currency, constitution, and passports, this recommendation should not be adopted.
  
16 and 17 year-old children should not be allowed to vote because they are still children.  Under Maryland law, a "child" is any person under the age of 18. Read the Law: MD Cts. and Jud. Proc. §3-8A-01 So, if we let our children to vote to elect officials and aspect them to make a mature decision in electing officials. Then this legislature also opens up a door for a change of criminal law. The 16 and 17 year old would not be a "children" in the eyes of criminal law. It also creates a possibility of a candidate would seek election by pandering to issues relating to teenagers such as lowering drinking age, smoking age, legalizing pot and making available to a 16 year old etc. For example, under this legislature, a candidate can promise to lower the drinking age to a 16 year old. Or maybe children will also choose to vote to exercise their 2nd amendment right to protect themselves in our vulnerable schools.
  
Interestingly, Senator Raskin is among the group requesting this radical, unconstitutional bill MC 25-16.  Senator Raskin is a professor of constitutional law at American University's Washington College of Law for the last 25 years and is also running for the 8th Congressional District seat.  As a constitutional lawyer he should know that this bill is against the U.S. Constitution.  Imagine what laws he would try to implement if he is elected to the U.S. Congress.

 The hearing on the Bill MC 25-16 is scheduled for  January 29, 2016 in Annapolis.  If you will not be able to attend the hearing please email your testimonies to the Montgomery County Delegation by 28th of January.

Maryland officials confident of snowstorm disaster aid

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Last weekend’s brutal snowstorm pummeled Maryland from the Atlantic coast to the West Virginia border, costing government agencies much more than the minimum requirement for a federal disaster declaration, the state’s emergency management chief said Tuesday.

The state aims to submit to federal authorities by mid-February an application seeking partial reimbursement for tens of millions of dollars in snow removal costs, damage to public property, and emergency measures to protect lives and property, Maryland Emergency Management Agency officials said.

The qualifying threshold for Maryland is $8.1 million under Federal Emergency Management Agency rules, “and we’ve met that without any question,” MEMA Executive Director Russell Strickland said.

“I think with the basic numbers that we’ve run, when you look at that in comparison to previous storms, we’ll easily make our threshold and overall should be in pretty good shape,” Strickland said in a telephone interview.

Tax cuts a top matter before Maryland lawmakers

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — One of the major decisions facing Maryland legislators this session is whether to cut taxes, which ones and by how much, the General Assembly’s chief budget analyst told lawmakers Tuesday.

Warren Deschenaux briefed lawmakers on the two fiscal panels that steer state spending about Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s $42 billion budget for the next fiscal year. Lawmakers in the Democratic-led General Assembly will be working on the budget for most of the session.

Hogan campaigned on cutting taxes and improving the state’s business climate, often criticizing his predecessor, former Gov. Martin O’Malley, for pushing through a wide variety of tax increases and fees, which he said scared away businesses. Hogan has proposed about $480 million in tax cuts over five years. A commission formed by the General Assembly has made its own tax-relief proposals, geared mostly to making the state more competitive with neighboring states for attracting and keeping businesses. It would add up to about $380 million, if all 14 recommendations are fully implemented.

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ pounds Flank Steak
  • ¼ cups cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½ teaspoons mince Garlic, Cloves
  • ¾ cups Soy Sauce
  • ¾ cups Water
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup grated Carrots
  • green onions, for garnish
Instructions
  1. Cut flank steak into thin strips. In a ziplock bag add flank steak pieces and cornstarch. Shake to coat.
  2. Add olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, water, brown sugar and carrots to slow cooker. Stir ingredients. Add coated flank steak and stir again until coated in the sauce.
  3. Cook for high 2-3 hours or on low 4-5 hours until cooked throughout and tender. Can serve over rice and garnish with green onions.

Blizzard will cost up to $3 Billion

The storm that hit the East Coast over the weekend likely cost businesses and residents about $2.5 billion to $3 billion.

That estimate comes from Moody's Analytics, which estimates most of the cost of the storm is from businesses that lost sales and employees that lost wages when they could not get to work. Those losses were partly offset by people who earned extra wages due to the storm, such as workers who got overtime for plowing roads and parking lots.

Also, this storm's damage to property and infrastructure was limited, according to AIR Worldwide, which comes up with estimates for insured losses, although some flooding was reported, particularly along the New Jersey shore.

All things considered, the first big snowstorm of 2016 was relatively inexpensive.

Don't Say You Weren't Warned (Again)

Throughout 2015 we discussed various measures of evaluating equity prices. All of our analysis points to current equity valuations indicating the market is at an extreme and that poor future returns should be expected. As a result, we have not been shy to recommend investors take a more conservative tack with equities. Indeed, equity market price deterioration in just the first three weeks of 2016 has wiped out nearly two years of gains. While we are uncertain if the recent downturn is the beginning of the anticipated bearish period we expect to materialize, we are certain it is imperative investors better understand the poor risk/reward dynamic of holding equities in the current environment.

On the heels of the frank comments from Mr. Fisher, we thought it would be helpful to share yet another type of equity analysis to help visualize the effect the “enormous rally” has had on equity valuations.
Soaring Price to Earnings Multiples

The scatter plot below shows the strong correlation (r-squared = .75) between long-term earnings growth estimates and the price to forward earnings estimates ratio. This ratio is similar to traditional P/E measures but uses 1-year forward earnings estimates instead of historical earnings data. When long term growth estimates are high, investors tend to be optimistic and likely to pay a higher premium or a greater multiple for earnings. The opposite holds true for lower growth expectations.

Disney Sued - replacing American Workers with Foreigners

Disney just got hit with two class-action suits.

Leo Perrero and Dena Moore say they were illegally replaced by foreign workers. Both were laid off from their IT jobs at Walt Disney World in Orlando in January 2015.

They were told they had 90 days to train their replacements: Foreigners on H-1B visas, the most common visa for high-skilled foreign workers. If they didn't agree, they weren't eligible for bonuses or severance packages.

Perrero and Moore weren't the only ones in this situation. Up to 300 workers also lost their jobs.

The lawsuits, filed in a Tampa federal court Monday, charge Disney and two global consulting companies, HCL and Cognizant, for colluding to break the law.

The Marketing Of The American President

When it comes to political entertainment, it doesn’t get much better than presidential election season in the United States. Foreign observers follow the race to determine who is best equipped to lead the US – and, to some extent, the world – toward a more stable, secure, and prosperous future. But in America, entertainment is king, and Americans tend to focus on excitement above all – who looks better, has a catchier sound bite, seems most “authentic,” and so on, often to the point of absurdity.

This is not a new approach, of course. Edward Bernays, the father of modern public relations, examined it in 1928, in his book Propaganda. “Politics was the first big business in America,” he declared, and political campaigns are “all side shows, all honors, all bombast, glitter, and speeches.” The key to victory is the manipulation of public opinion, and that is achieved most effectively by appealing to the “mental clichés and emotional habits of the public.”

A president, in other words, is nothing more than a product to be marketed. And, as any marketer knows, the quality of the product is not necessarily what drives its success; if it were, Donald Trump would not be regarded as a serious candidate for the Republican Party nomination, much less a top contender. Instead, a president must serve as a kind of imaginary friend: a beer buddy for men, an earnest empathizer for women, or a charming Twitter user for the millennials.

In the current campaign, the most complex candidate, Hillary Clinton, is suffering mightily as a result of – let’s be honest – personality issues. She has made important policy contributions as US Secretary of State in the first Obama administration, and she has offered what is arguably the most complete economic vision of any presidential candidate. Yet she is facing a serious challenge from Bernie Sanders, a self-described socialist senator from Vermont, in the race for the Democratic nomination.

LATEST NEWS ON REPLACEMENT WEST SALISBURY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT


Progress Continues on Replacement West Salisbury Elementary School Project with Jan. 27 Board of Public Works Appeal

The Board of Education at its Jan. 12 meeting voted to approve the schematic design for the replacement West Salisbury Elementary School, keeping the project on a fast track toward final design, construction, and opening for the 2018-2019 school year.

At the Maryland Board of Public Works hearing on Jan. 27, the school system will appeal for $5 million in first-year construction funding for West Salisbury as well as full funding of the Parkside High “above ceiling” portion of the currently recommended HVAC project and the Wicomico Middle partial roof project.

After that, the next West Salisbury project goal will be to have Design Development documents submitted to the Department of General Services by April 1, in support of a funding recommendation by the Board of Public Works in the final round of fiscal year 2017 capital funding decisions. Final state funding decisions on capital projects will come in late May. The Wicomico County Executive’s proposed FY2017 CIP budget includes $7.5 million in first-year county construction funding.

The "Real" Donald Trump - A Fascinating Interview From 1990

In 1990, Donald Trump conducted a lengthy interview with Playboy Magazine. It provides an absolutely fascinating window into the man’s mind, which I suggest everyone read in full. Unexpectedly, I came away with a more informed and nuanced perspective on the man. While it didn’t change my opinion of him as President, I do have a much greater appreciation for Donald Trump as a person, specifically how his mind works and what drives him.

I originally came across this interview after seeing a tweet referencing a 25 year old interview during which Trump expressed admiration for how strongly Chinese authorities cracked down on dissent in Tiananmen Square in 1989. I immediately thought to myself that this would be the perfect fodder to further elucidate the kind of cold, brutal, authoritarian leader Trump undoubtably would be as President.

While that particular quote didn’t disappoint, I decided to read further and came away with many additional observations. I think these observations are worth sharing since I think there’s a very real chance Trump will be elected President within the next ten years. His chances ride on the fact that the current system is terminally corrupt, as well as socially and economically bankrupt. It will crash and burn, whether in slow motion like the past eight years, or very rapidly over the next several. Someone will likely step in to fill this void, and Trump has the personality type and understanding of human nature to possibly propel himself into the position when the timing is right. Is the time right in 2016? Probably not, but a President Trump is far more likely to occur in our lifetimes than many of us want to admit.

Clearing Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Grand Jury Indicts 2 Videographers

The grand jury reviewing the evidence into allegations of misconduct by Planned Parenthood cleared the organization of breaking the law.

A Harris County grand jury today decided not to take any action against Planned Parenthood in Houston. But two people who used undercover videos accusing the group of selling fetal tissue have been indicted.

The sting videos recorded last April alleged that Planned Parenthood illegally profited from donations of fetal tissue. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office investigated those allegations for more than two months, along with the Texas Rangers and the Houston Police Department.

In the end, a grand jury has cleared Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast of breaking the law.

“It affirms 100% what we have said from the very beginning, and that is that Planned Parenthood follows local, state and federals laws and extremely high medical standards, and our first priority is patient care,” said Rochelle Tafolla, with Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. “These individuals broke the law and committed fraud in order to spread lies about Planned Parenthood and today they’re going to be held accountable for breaking those laws.”

Presidential Crimes Then And Now

Are Nixon’s and the Reagan administration’s crimes noticable on the scale of Clinton’s, George W. Bush’s, and Obama’s?

Not much remains of the once vibrant American left-wing. Among the brainwashed remnants there is such a hatred of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan that the commitment of these two presidents to ending dangerous military rivalries is unrecognized. Whenever I write about the illegal invasions of other countries launched by Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama, leftists point to Chile, Nicaragua and Grenada and say that nothing has changed. But a great deal has changed. In the 1970s and 1980s Nixon and Reagan focused on reducing Cold War tensions. Courageously, Nixon negotiated nuclear arms limitation agreements with the Soviet Union and opened to China, and Reagan negotiated with Gorbachev the end of the dangerous Cold War.

Beginning with the Clinton regime, the neoconservative doctrine of the US as the Uni-power exercising hegemony over the world has resurrected tensions between nuclear-armed powers. Clinton trashed the word of the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations and expanded NATO throughout Eastern Europe and brought the military alliance to Russia’s border. The George W. Bush regime withdrew from the anti-ballistic missile treaty, revised US war doctrine to permit pre-emptive nuclear attack, and negotiated with Washington’s East European vassals to put anti-ballistic missiles on Russia’s borders in an effort to neutralize Russia’s nuclear deterrent, thus bringing major security problems to Russia. The Obama regime staged a coup against a government allied with Russia in Ukraine, traditionally a part of Russia, and imposed a Russophobia government as Washington’s vassal. Turning to China, Washington announced the “pivot to Asia” with the purpose of controlling shipping in the South China Sea. Additionally, the Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama regimes fomented wars across a wide swath of the planet from Yugoslavia and Serbia through the Middle East and Africa to South Ossetia and now in Ukraine.

The neoconservative ideology rose from the post-Reagan collapse of the Soviet Union. The doctrine met the need of the US military/security complex for a new enemy in order to avoid downsizing. Washington’s pursuit of empire is a principal danger to life itself for everyone on the planet.

Walmart Comes To Town, Other Stores Close, Then Walmart Leaves

The Walmart Express experiment was a teeny proportion of the more than 5,000 stores that the retailer claims across the United States: fewer than 150 tiny Walmarts in small towns across the country. Walmart pulling the plug on its experiment has a very real and very terrible effect on the people who live in those small towns. In some places, it leaves them without any local grocery stores or pharmacies.

Bloomberg News visited some of these communities , and found that Walmart’s planned departure is leaving the towns where it built Walmart Express mini-stores even worse off. Take the town of Merkel, Kansas: with no indication that the new Walmart was close to leaving, the town’s grocery store closed only two months ago. There’s a happy ending for them, sort of: the grocery store has announced plans to reopen.

Other communities aren’t so lucky. While small stores might come along at some point to pick up that business, the small grocery stores and pharmacies that tried to compete with Walmart weren’t able to survive. “[Walmart] ruined our lives,” the manager of the local grocery store in Oriental, NC (and the owner’s daughter) told Bloomberg. “They came in here with their experiment and ruined us.”

Woman who kept vigil in front of White House for 30-plus years dies

WASHINGTON — She was a D.C. institution seen by millions, whether many people knew her name or not.

Concepcion Picciotto, who kept a vigil for nuclear peace across from the White House for almost 35 years, died on Monday, according to officials at the N Street Village, a shelter for homeless and low-income women, where she lived.

She was thought to be 80.

Picciotto told The Washington Post in 2013 that she did it “to stop the world from being destroyed.” Her signs included “LIVE BY THE BOMB, DIE BY THE BOMB” and “BAN ALL NUCLEAR WEAPONS OR HAVE A NICE DOOMSDAY.”

She began her vigil June 3, 1981, when she joined William Thomas, who had already been sitting in silent protest. The Post reports that she had been an embassy secretary and at the time was working as a nanny for an area family.

Donald Trump is boycotting Thursday’s final pre-Iowa GOP debate. And every Republican candidate should. Fox News is treating Trump worse than any liberal media outlet would–worse, even than John Harwood and CNBC.

Last week, moderator Megan Kelly convened a special panel of anti-Trump writers from National Review to mark the launch of their attack on Trump. This week, Fox News prepared for the debate by inviting a Muslim activist who has criticized Trump to be one of three YouTube personalities to question the candidates. And on Tuesday, as Trump considered whether to participate in the debate, Fox issued a petulant, snarky press statement mocking him:

Lynch was wanted on a District Court Bench Warrant that was issued after she failed to pay a deferred fine in a CDS case. The District Court Commissioner released Lynch on unsecured bond.

Narrative: On 25 January 2015 at 11:00 AM, a deputy charged Patrick McCready with shoplifting at the Dollar General Store in Mardela Springs. It was reported the McCready walked out of the store without paying for a USB plug and a flashlight.
McCready was charged on a Criminal Summons and he will have an initial appearance in front of a District Court judge on a future court date.

Narrative: On 25 January 2015 at 12:00 PM a deputy arrested Robert Todd on two District Court Bench Warrants. Both were issued after Todd failed to appear for Violation of Probation hearings in two cases. One where he had been already convicted of Assault 2nd Degree and the other where he had already been convicted of theft under $1,000.00.
The warrants were issued back in February 2015 and Todd had been featured as one of Wicomico County’s Most wanted back in October 2015.
Todd was processed at the Central Booking Unit and was detained by the District Court Commissioner in the Detention Center on a total bond of $60,000.00.

Obama is making a big change to one of the harshest punishments for criminals

US President Barack Obama announced on Monday that he is banning the use of solitary confinement for juveniles and low-level offenders in federal prisons.

In a Washington Post editorialthat will be published on Tuesday, Obama outlined a series of executive actions he is taking at the recommendation of the US Justice Department.

The recommendations include the banning of solitary confinement for juveniles and prisoners who commit "low-level infractions," as well as an increase in the amount of time prisoners in solitary confinement can spend outside.

"The United States is a nation of second chances, but the experience of solitary confinement too often undercuts that second chance," Obama wrote in the editorial.

Governor Hogan Asks Wicomico County To Help Clear Anne Arundel County Snow

Wicomico County is in a staging area right now just west of the Bay Bridge awaiting instructions as to which subdivision they will start in.

County Executive Culver was quick to respond to the Governor's request since Wicomico has been completely cleared. 

Governor Hogan is reimbursing the County for all expenses and I have been told it is really bad out there. Many neighborhoods have yet to receive any plow relief since the storm. 

As it stands, Wicomico County Roads Division is on hand and will return tomorrow with even more assistance. I was also told Somerset County is there with dump trucks transporting snow to certain staging areas as well. It's a team effort for sure.

German refugee camps are so awful that migrants are trying to get passports to go back home

The conditions in German refugee shelters are so bad that some migrants would rather return to the homes they fled than stay where they are.

“They gather people in horrible camps with no space to sleep, bathe or relax. There is no hope here in Germany," Heval Aram, an Iraqi asylum seeker in Germany, told Euronews.

Aram had travelled for 12 days with his family to come to Germany.

"I hope nobody will leave their home to come here,” he said.

Others complain that the asylum process is too slow.

"I am not allowed to bring my family, and I haven't received a permit to stay yet. I can't work, I can't move around freely," Mohammed Mohsen, who has been seeking asylum for over 5 months, told Deutsche Welle.

"You can't open the doors to refugees and then not see the process through," Mohsen said.

Official: Man Said He Was Heading To D.C. To ‘Start Shooting’

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who told his former boss he was going to go to Washington and “start shooting” has been arrested and will face charges related to threats to government officials, a federal law enforcement official said.

Adrian Daigle, 36, had been working for a company based in Wisconsin but had lost his job within the past week, said the official, who had been briefed on the case but spoke on condition of anonymity because Daigle had not been formally charged. Daigle told his former employer that he was going to Washington to resolve his problems and that if he didn’t get them resolved, he was going to “start shooting,” the official said.

Daigle was arrested early Tuesday in Jessup, Maryland, about 25 miles north of Washington, said Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Alice Kim.

The FBI in Green Bay, Wisconsin, had alerted local and federal officials in Washington to be on the lookout for Daigle, the official said. Charges against him are pending.

Young voter confronts Hillary Clinton: People my age say you're 'dishonest'

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a message Monday night for a young supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) who said young people don't trust Clinton: Don't get distracted.

At a CNN town-hall event Monday night, a student confronted Clinton about the perception that she is dishonest.

"I've heard from quite a few people my age that say you're dishonest," said the supporter, who described himself as a supporter of Sanders.

He proceeded to ask her about what he perceived as an enthusiasm gap among young people for Clinton's campaign vs. Sanders'.

Clinton said she was "totally happy to see young people involved in any way." But she said she wanted voters to know that she believes she's frequently attacked because she fights for progressive causes.

Troopers Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash- Delmar

Delmar, DE – The Delaware State Police have identified the driver involved in the fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday January 26, 2016 as Alfred C. Gilmore, 65 of Salisbury, Maryland.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.

Coast Guard rescues 13 from yacht minutes before it sinks

Coast Guard officials said 13 people were rescued from a sinking yacht off the Florida coast Monday night, with the last person being taken off the vessel 25 minues before it sank.

Petty Officer Jon-Paul Rios says the Coast Guard responded after getting a call at approximately 6:30 p.m. that the 106-foot motor yacht named Serena III was taking on water. Rios says it's unclear why the boat was taking on water.

Rescuers reached the yacht about 30 minutes later.

"It was an extremely hectic situation," Rios said. "It was choppy seas, high winds. It was not the most favorable weather, but at the same time, we have some of the most proficient crews is the Coast Guard's Search and Rescue, so they were able to do it successfully."

So, who’s spent what? Trump, $4 million; Cruz, $4.2 million, Bush . . . $58.8 million?

We’ve always known which candidate is the favorite of the Republican donor class, and supposedly Jeb Bush’s access to cash was the reason he had to be considered one of the favorites - if not the favorite - for the nomination as this cycle began. Well, he certainly has raised the money, and he certainly has spent the money.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and his super PAC, Right to Rise, have spent $58.8 million on the 2016 campaign, a recent analysis found. That’s almost $2 million more than the combined total of the next three biggest spenders (and their super PACs and outside supporters): Marco Rubio ($32.6 million), Hillary Clinton ($12.8 million), andBernie Sanders ($11.6 million). And what has this gotten the Bush campaign? Unfortunately for Mr. Bush, not all that much.

The first Wall Street Journal/NBC News polling that included a trial heat of the Republican primary was in April 2015; it found Mr. Bush in the lead with 23% of the vote. In the January WSJ/NBC poll, Mr. Bush came in at 5%. Presumably more exasperating for the Bush campaign and its donors is that the relatively frugal campaigns of Donald Trump–someone not known for sparing expense–and Ted Cruz are leading the Republican field, having spent $4 million and $4.2 million, respectively.

Where Does The Snow Go? In Baltimore, To The Races

No horses are galloping along the tracks at Pimlico this time of year, but there is plenty of racing going on.

Baltimore officials and assisting agencies scrambled to get the city moving Tuesday in the wake of a monstrous storm that dumped more than two feet of snow onto the streets, and chose Pimlico Race Course as their primary staging area.

Dump trucks were streaming in and out of the race course, depositing mountains of snow into the lot. Jim Bolen, a public information officer for an incident management team from Butler County, Ohio, which is helping the city with storm recovery, said the Pimlico site is one of three snow storage facilities in the city.

On Northern Parkway, a pair of massive snow blowers on loan from Boston Mayor Marty Walsh could be seen clearing snow piled along the streets.

Sanders Calls for Political Revolution and Clinton Says She'd Build on Obama's Legacy in Iowa Town Hall Event

Both candidates say they have the better judgment to be president as the primary season begins.

The hope of the campaign trail and the pragmatism of governing clashed at an Iowa town hall meeting Monday night, as both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton each said that they had the better judgment and experience to be the 2016 Democratic nominee and nation’s next president.

It was an impressive display of two strong candidates, who, despite sharing many goals such as lessening the many forms of inequality afflicting the country, are offering decidedly different paths to achieve them. Sanders called for a political and economic revolution, where the money to meet many of America’s needs would come from confronting the wealthiest interests and using the full force of federal government to redistribute that money to benefit middle and working classes.

UNIVERSITY SEEKS TO ‘BROADEN FREE SPEECH’ BY BANNING ‘OFFENSIVE’ COSTUMES

That means dressing like Caitlyn Jenner is out

EDINBURGH, Scotland –
The Edinburgh University student union claims it was working to “broaden free speech” when it banned students recently from wearing any type of costume that might offend anyone.

Students can no longer dress up like Native Americans, Arabs, Nazis, or depict police brutality because those costumes are “based on racial or cultural stereotypes.” Students are also now prohibited from wearing any outfits that “mock or are based on stereotypes of disabled people,” or “cross-dressing for the point of humor,” Express reports.

That means dressing like Caitlyn Jenner is out, as is a Chris Brown costume, because they use “gender-based or sexual violence for the purpose of humor,” according to the news site.
