Chicago suburb passes baggy pants ordinance

The south Chicago suburb, Lynwood,IL, has just unanimously passed a "baggy-pants" ordinance and anyone showing 3 inches or more of underwear is subject to a $25 fine. Mayor Eugene Williams says that young men are walking around his downtown district with their pants falling off and it makes the city look bad.The ACLU says it is a law that specifically targets minorities.WTF? They should get out more often-white kids wear their pants hanging off their arses too!
Regardless of race or age,it is downright tacky and even worse than seeing a strangers drawers in public is seeing a buttcrack or other body parts better left to mystery. For me the baggie pants ranks right up there with guys who go out in public places(restaurants, stores, etc.)shirtless and barefoot.Nobody can dictate class or good taste , not even the law and I would be concerned about time taken away from other more serious infractions because the town cops are busy being the "belt-police" but I do think the fines might make a guy think twice before he leaves home with his pants bunched-up around his knees. What do y'all think?

Classified Ads

The Classified Ads have proven to be a great success here on Salisbury News. If you have an item you'd like to add to the list this week, send the information to, alberobutzo@wmconnect.com and I'll make sure it's posted.

Remember Folks, Salisbury News has the hits and I just got off the phone with a Friend who said everyone is now talking about the Classified Ads here. Considering what this guy does for a living, that says a whole lot right there.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

"I am a livelong resident of Salisbury. My family was one of the original non native american settlers. The Zoo is lousy!!!! Take the property and make it something we all can enjoy. Maybe a public golf course that "everyone" can afford, a dog park, skate park, etc. It is not making Salisbury a destination city so therefore it is a waste of taxpayer money."

Carrie Samis At Tawes Festival?

Remember Carrie Samis, the former Education Curator at the Salisbury Zoo? Well, here she is walking around at the Tawes Crab & Clam Bake in Crisfield. Anybody want to bet where she got her ticket as well as Jim Rapp? You're so giving Mayor Tilghman and Ron Alessi. Not much has changed at all for these two, not at all.

My Printed Response To Today's Question Of The Week In The Daily Times

Are you worried about gangs proliferating on the Shore?

Joe Albero
Delmar

Considering sbynews.com was first to expose gangs and graffiti in our area, as well as being a victim at 300 W. Main St., you better believe I'm concerned. The fact that Salisbury's mayor and police chief denied such gang activity concerned me even more, though. Considering my blog exposed and educated the public about such activity will only help people to "look up" when they're traveling around the downtown area, as most of tags were high up on the buildings. Because this was exposed and some civilians patrolled the downtown area, it came to an immediate end. Drugs and crime are heavy issues with gangs and it's time the city of Salisbury took back the streets by arresting more the drug dealers and gang members ruining this fine city. That being said, not delivering the police raises that were promised last year has also affected morale within the city police department.

GO HERE to see every one's reaction to this question of the week in the Daily Times.

My hat is tipped to the Daily Times for printing this message.

Thieves In Salisbury

"maybe you can help i work with the grocery stores on the west side and they all are losing thousands of dollars every year . The problem is people are stealing the shopping carts so they can take there stuff to the scrap dealer on boundry st and when they get there money the push them in the ditch. All the police see these people with the carts but they do nothing it is still stealing and i thought that was a crime. Please help"

Where The Hell Is My Sunday Daily Times!

Enough Is Enough! It's 9:00 AM and they have had PLENTY of time to deliver, yet there's NO PAPER! Are you missing your Sunday paper as well? This company is crap!

CALL IN AND GET YOUR CREDIT THAT YOU DESERVE! I just got off the phone with the Daily Times and the first thing they wanted was my phone number, address and then they said, "and your e-mail address?" Bull Sh!t! I said to the lady, nice try. She just laughed and moved on. She explained how I should expect my paper arourn noon today, they had production problems. I said, I expect my paper in the morning and that's why I PAY for. Well I'm really sorry Sir, it's not your carriers fault. I replied, I never said it was. Well it will be there around noon Sir. I said, where's my CREDIT then? Oh, you want a credit? I replied, your damn right I want a CREDIT!

My strong suggestion to ALL of you is, call in and get your CREDIT too! Make them pay for these mistakes and make them pay by the thousands of us. This will wake them up! Yeah, you never had competition live like this before Greg Bassett and it HURTS, doesn't it!

NE Collector Road - Let's Print Some More Propaganda

The Daily Times and ace cub reporter Laura D'Alessandro are at it again. Rather than attempt to ferret out the truth - I know it's hard with the Tilghman administration - D'Alessandro seems to be letting John Pick or Lore Chambers write her articles for her. Read more ...

The Rapp/Alessi Lie?

Remember when Jim Rapp was allegedly hanging up his hat at the Salisbury Zoo claiming it was simply time for him to move on? Well, I happen to know different because I had exposed all the BS Rapp had fed everyone and depositions clearly showing the guy had some very serious issues that he would never get over.

That being said, he and Alessi stated that Rapp had been there for 12 years and it was simply time for him to move on. OK, let's just say we buy that. WHAT THE HELL IS ALESSI STILL DOING HEADING THE ZOO COMMISSION THEN?

I mean, us e their own words and in the end it once again works against them. The Zoo has simply fallen apart and I don't care what anyone says, it's ALL Ron Alessi's fault. Oh, that's right, YOU can't touch him though.

I personally can't stand those kind of a$$holes who hide behind the protection Alessi has fallen into. Or did he fall into it? He's working with the Zoo Commission that can't be touched as well as the Liquor Dispensary Board. Pretty convenient, eh Ron?

Once we get a new Mayor into Office, let me assure you Alessi, your ass is going to be thrown out of the Zoo and guess what, it will probably come back in no time. The County will have taken the LCB and brought it to referendum whereas the Citizens will dump your ass from there also.

Nevertheless, in your own words Alessi, you've been on the Zoo Commission for more than 30 years, GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE! It's important ALL of you know that I personally went to Ron Alessi at a Zoo Commission Meeting and confronted him about several ducks being mauled at the Zoo and he was shocked, actually thinking I wasn't being truthful. Once he learned I was in fact telling the truth he seemed quite upset at Jim Rapp. Nevertheless, it still took several days for Rapp to get off his ass and put out a trap to capture the animal, at the expense of several more dead ducks in the mean time.

Your time is up Ron Alessi and it's time for you to go. YOU need to give Joel the opportunity to run that place with a President of the Zoo Commission that will make EVERYONE at the Zoo accountable. Like I said to Billy Duvall, go out while you're on top. Don't have me bring you down Ron because if that's what it takes I'll do it.

If you'd like to go out like Rapp did, stick around Ron. My time limit of staying out of the Zoo is just about up.

Attention Panhandlers On Jersey Road & Naylor Mill

Just how many times have you traveled that area, (especially on weekends) and seen kids on all the corners begging for money? I have seen this for years and finally it looks like one of the property owners has finally had enough of it.

I know there's got to be some kind of laws out there against panhandling without a license and I know the Sheriff's Deputy vehicles pass by this all day long on weekends, yet nothing is ever done about it?

I can see if it was something like the Salisbury Little League Team looking to raise funds to go to the World Series, but weekend after weekend for a basketball team just to play, I don't think so. Hopefully it will come to an end because I'm tired of feeling uncomfortable every time I drive past there.

Speculators Trying to Buy Control of Food Supply

This is a great blog that I found one day when surfing. George Washington's Blog always has really interesting articles with great links about current issues. This was an article that I found when reading some things on beekeeping and the future of the industry. ~ Wymzie

George Washington’s Blog
Tuesday, July 29, 2008

According to the New York Times, Financial Times, and others, hedge funds and other investors are buying up farms, farmland, fertilizer, grain elevators, shipping equipment and other necessities for producing food.

Given the meltdown in the housing and financial sectors and the weakness in the U.S. economy, large investors figure that everyone has to eat, and so investing in food production is a sure thing.

That means that speculators will drive up food prices.

As Jim Hightower puts it: “By ‘owning structure,’ they mean centralizing control of food in the hands of financial manipulators who have only one crop in mind: fat profits.
Price? Aha! That’s what consolidation of farms and storage facilities is all about. If you can lock down production and stockpile the supply – you can control price. If corn prices are lower than what investors want them to be, simply store the corn and force prices up. Or, if corn prices are down in the U.S., ship it to Japan or wherever else might be more profitable. And if these distortments cause a food crash? Hey, the speculators will already have sucked out billions in profits, and they will just move to the next hot investment.

Hedge funds bring nothing but greed and grief to the farm economy and our food supply, and they should be banned from ‘owning structure.’”

Hightower may be right: we should demand that Congress prevent speculators from buying up one of the main necessities. Moreover, this just strengthens my conviction that we should guarantee our access to inexpensive and healthy food. See this and this.

Is Mayor Barrie Tilghman A Terrorist?

While comments come flying in here about every 10 seconds, one of them stated that because Mayor Tilghman runs around the Council Room with pad and paper writing down the names of individuals attending the meeting, perhaps she's a Terrorist?

Certainly she attempts to intimidate people by doing so and some have claimed they have been retaliated against them from the City after they have made comments, the next thing they knew they were written up for certain violations on their home.

However, a Terrorist? That might be taking it a bit too far. I guess you'd have to look at the law to be sure but I'd say it's more out of line than anything else. Look, name calling can be damaging. You probably won't get good results for making such suggestions. However, IF you want to get results and you want to come off responsible, talk to your neighbors and see if they're a registered voter!

Offer to drive them to the Polls on election day. If YOU want to make a difference in Salisbury, screw the recall petitions. Start encouraging everyone you know, including renters to register NOW and get out there and vote. It's YOUR City, do something about it. Quit waiting for Salisbury News to expose everything and then wait till after the elections once again to hope it will change.

Duvall has called me a Terrorist as well as the other Anti Albero Blogs. It doesn't bother me one bit. If it doesn't bother me, it's not going to bother Barrie Tilghman. Get out and register and then get out to vote. I'm warning you now Folks. If YOU don't do this, Salisbury News WILL close its doors for good after the election.

A LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Joe:

I listened to your piece on Ron Paul talking about the devaluation of our US currency and how it effects the economy and oil pricing.

The real estate situation in our Country and in particular, locally, is virtually out of control.

Our tax assessors are not allowing foreclosed property to be used as comparable sales which heightens tax assessments for our taxpayers. In most other industries this would be considered racketeering. The number of Maryland foreclosures has quadrupled and things in the real estate industry are not stable at all. Add to that a weak currency, and it is a recipe for a National disaster. You have already seen two recent federal bailouts, JP Morgan/Bear Stearns, Indy Mac, and there are others looming in the wings. Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are distressed as witnessed by last weeks massive stock sell-off and decline.

So I hope you alert your readers about an impending crisis as things could worsen in the ensuing months should either one of the financial giants fail and/or additional run -on-deposits at other financial institutions.

You are already hearing on Fox News -(Larry Kudlow) - where our economy is now a Socialist/Fascist driven economy whereby the government's new role is now driving the Transportation industry and financial industries.

And remember folks that you first read about this impending warning on www.sbynews.com.
