On Father’s Day 2008, candidate Barack Obama made his most honest speech on race, maybe his only halfway honest speech on race. The media barely noticed.
The site was the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago. From the pulpit Obama spoke to the gathered voters -- excuse me, congregants -- with uncharacteristic audacity. He reminded his audience that too many black fathers were missing from “too many homes.” He knew something of the phenomenon himself given that his father “left us when I was two years old.” Yes, that con again.
Putting aside for a moment his personal story, however fictitious, Obama made the traditionally conservative argument that fatherless children were five times more likely to grow up poor, nine times more likely to drop out of school, and twenty times more likely to get into serious trouble than children who grow up with both parents.
Those absentee fathers, Obama scolded, “have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it.” In that it was Obama who made this argument -- not, say, Dan Quayle -- the mainstream media reported the speech uncritically.
Progressives, however, were uneasy about Obama giving voice to what one wag called his “inner Cosby,” and no progressive more so than Jessie Jackson. Even in a whisper, Jackson made his voice heard.

Why Every Man Should Be Strong
With our archives now 3,500+ articles deep, we’ve decided to republish a classic piece each Friday to help our newer readers discover some of the best, evergreen gems from the past. This article was originally published in August 2014.
When I first started the Art of Manliness, I didn’t put too much stock in physical strength as an important component of manhood. Strength of character, sure, but physical strength was more of a secondary pursuit. Maybe it was because I started AoM partly to get away from the overdone fetishization of getting ripped that was (and is) promoted by other men’s magazines. Maybe it was because I wasn’t in shape myself at the time. (We often construct our definition of manhood in accordance with that which describes ourselves best, and I’m certainly not immune to this temptation!) I had played football in high school, but after going to college, my workouts became halfhearted and sporadic. This was especially true in law school — between trying to keep up my grades and running a fledgling blog, exercise just wasn’t a top priority.
Over the last couple years, however, working out, and lifting weights in particular, has become a fundamental part of my life. It started with my 90-day testosterone experiment; I started exercising regularly to see what effect it would have on my T levels. When the official experiment ended, the habit stuck. I went from being fairly indifferent to exercise, to looking forward to my workouts as my favorite part of the day. And I found that building my body changed the way I felt and carried myself as a man.
At the same time, my research into the core of masculinity gave me a theoretical understanding of the role of strength in the ancient, universal code of manhood. This research convinced me that strength forms the nucleus of manliness, as it truly makes all the other manly virtues possible.

North Carolina governor orders Confederate statues removed from state capital, cites public safety
North Carolina has started to remove Confederate statues in the state capital, citing public safety concerns.
Gov. Roy Cooper has long advocated for the removal of such statues around Raleigh and has said that now is the time to finally act.
“If the legislature had repealed their 2015 law that puts up legal roadblocks to removal we could have avoided the dangerous incidents of last night,” Cooper said Friday.
“Monuments to white supremacy don’t belong in places of allegiance, and it’s past time that these painful memorials be moved in a legal, safe way.”

Nashville liquor store owner, 88, explains why she shot alleged shoplifter: 'I'm fed up'
Nashville liquor store owner May Boyce, an 88-year-old widow who stands 5-foot-3 and weighs 115 pounds, according to reports, got “fed up” of her store being robbed so she shot an alleged shoplifter.
She told police she grabbed her late mother Mary’s .38 Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver and shot a suspect who was trying to steal alcohol last Tuesday, according to an affidavit obtained by McClatchy News Service.
“I did what I had to do, and I hope word gets out on the street that I’m fed up and I’m not taking it anymore,” she told The New York Post Saturday. “You’ve got to stick up for yourself sometimes.”
“I did what I had to do,” added Boyce, now out on $10,000 bond. “After you’ve been played for a fool by people stealin’ from you for years, you get fed up. And don’t put me in the category of a little old lady. I know how to take care of myself.”

Biden Taps Former CIA, Obama Officials To Handle 'Pre-Transition'
Former Vice President Joe Biden has assembled a transition team for a smooth return to the White House, should he beat President Trump in the November election.
Leading the team is former Sen. Ted Kaufman (D-DE), who filled Biden's senate seat when he became VP - and led Biden's 2008 and 2009 transition team, according to Fox News.
Kauffman says they're in the "very early stages of pre-transition planning" after hiring around six people - including "Obama Administration and Capitol Hill veterans," according to the report. There's also a former CIA official.
Yohannes Abraham, a longtime senior White House staffer in the Obama administration and former COO of the Obama Foundation, will manage day-to-day operations. Avril Haines, former principal deputy national security advisor and deputy director of the CIA, will manage the transition's national security and foreign policy efforts.
Other staffers will include Gautam Raghavan, chief of staff to Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.; Angela Ramirez, chief of staff to Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico; Evan Ryan, a senior advisor to Biden during the Obama administration, and Julie Siegel, who worked for Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., as senior counsel for economic policy. -Fox News
"The next president will confront an ongoing global health pandemic and inherit an economy in its worst shape since the Great Depression," he said in a statement. "No one will have taken office facing such daunting obstacles since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Joe Biden is prepared to meet these urgent challenges on the day he is sworn in as president, and begin the hard work of addressing the public health crisis and rebuilding an economy that puts working families first."
According to team Biden, the timing of the transition staffing coincides with the "Edward "Ted" Kaufman and Michael Leavitt Presidential Transitions Improvement Act of 2015" which requires that campaigns begin initial transition work six months before an election.

NPR Falsely Calls Victim Of Attack By Rioters A White Supremacist
The woman had her car blocked by a group of protesters, and had her hair ripped out and a gun pulled on her before she managed to escape
This week a woman in Louisville, Ky. was assaulted by armed rioters. The rioters blocked her car, and after a short conversation, tore out her dreadlocks and pointed a gun at her. The woman quickly drove backwards before they could shoot, then sped off, striking one of the assailants moving towards her.
The events were thankfully captured on a city crime camera, and police arrested two of the attackers after the victim reported the incident to law enforcement. It was three days later that she was marked as the new face of “far right extremism” by NPR.

Nathan Bedford Forrest Wins A Rare Victory Over Cancel Culture. Here's Why That's A Good Thing
In 2020’s version of the Bolshevik Revolution, almost any statue or monument that predates or doesn’t explicitly honor the Civil Rights era is a potential target for being defaced, damaged, or toppled entirely, Taliban-style. The woke social justice warriors who have somehow managed to seize the culture don’t seem to concern themselves much with whether these monuments honor Jefferson Davis, George Washington, Robert E. Lee, Thomas Jefferson, Winston Churchill, Christopher Columbus, or even famous abolitionist Matthias Baldwin. To them, these are just dead old white dudes who belong in the dustbin of history because, well, they were probably evil, engaged in hate-think, and participated in and benefited from the structural systemic institutional racism of their era, or something.
However, while most conservatives will balk when leftists try to cancel Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and famous abolitionists, they have generally been pressured into ceding ground on anything relating to the Confederacy. Nobody is defending slavery today, but even those who have argued for these monuments’ retention based on historical reasons have mostly given up. Granted, there is certainly room to discuss, in a non-mob-like way, the peaceful, orderly removal - to museums or private property - of certain statues put on government property by segregationists or KKK members for the express purpose of intimidating minorities. Most reasonable people understand this.

Shootings, Violence Jump In Cities Where Mayors Have Restrained Police
Activist campaigns against police to have accelerated in the wake of a violent altercation between police and George Floyd that prefaced his death. In response, mayors of several cities have reduced police presence. This has led in several cases to dramatic increases in violent crime.
Seattle
Since violent protests against police have begun, there have been numerous reports of shootings occurring in Seattle and the six-block Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone over the last few days.
One protestor named Jake Scheels inadvertently caught a shooting on camera. In one moment, Scheels can be seen describing life in the CHAZ while he plays frisbee and walks around the area. A neighborhood overtaken by gun-toting anti-police vigilantes, CHAZ is also known as Capitol Hill Occupied Protest, or CHOP.

Ken Blackwell: Slaughter of Blacks Is Reality in Democrat-Run Cities
Democrats blame the “boogeyman of systemic racism” to avoid responsibility for the volume of violent crime in black communities in cities they run, said Ken Blackwell, former mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, who offered his remarks on the Wednesday edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
“The real systemic and deadly reality is that black men and women are being slaughtered in cities and communities of color across the country in numbers that can only be compared to war zones in Iraq and Syria,” said Blackwell, reflecting on a column he wrote with former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik regarding crime in Democrat-run cities, “Every single one of those cities have been run by Democrats, and in some cases, [for] as long as 40 years. [Kerik and I] just took exception to the fact that these mayors were passing the buck. These local officials were passing a buck.”

Home Sales Plunged 9.7% in May as Coronavirus Lockdowns Kept Americans Indoors
Sales of previously owned homes fell 9.7 percent in May compared April, the third monthly decline, the National Association of Realtors said Monday.
Existing home sales are counted at the time of closings. So these would have been based on contacts signed in March and April, when most of the country was under instructions to stay at home and real estate showings were off-limits in many areas.

RON PAUL: THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS GETTING DESPERATE
The only way Congress can avoid the Fed causing another great depression is to begin transitioning to a free-market monetary system by auditing, then ending, the Fed.
In a sign that the Federal Reserve is growing increasingly desperate to jump-start the economy, the Fed’s Secondary Market Credit Facility has begun purchasing individual corporate bonds. The Secondary Market Credit Facility was created by Congress as part of a coronavirus stimulus bill to purchase as much as 750 billion dollars of corporate credit. Until last week, the Secondary Market Credit Facility had limited its purchases to exchange-traded funds, which are bundled groups of stocks or bonds.
The bond purchasing initiative, like all Fed initiatives, will fail to produce long-term prosperity. These purchases distort the economy by increasing the money supply and thus lowering interest rates, which are the price of money. In this case, the Fed’s purchase of individual corporate bonds enables select corporations to pursue projects for which they could not otherwise have obtained funding. This distorts signals sent by the market, making these companies seem like better investments than they actually are and thus allowing these companies to attract more private investment. This will cause these companies to experience a Fed-created bubble. Like all Fed-created bubbles, the corporate bond bubble will eventually burst, causing businesses to collapse, investors to lose their money (unless they receive a government bailout), and workers to lose their jobs.
Under the law creating the lending facilities, the Fed does not have to reveal the purchases made by the new facilities. Instead of allowing the Fed to hide this information, Congress should immediately pass the Audit the Fed bill so people can know whether a company is flush with cash because private investors determined it is a sound investment or because the Fed chose to “invest” in its bonds.

When the fattest pig in the sty wants you to pay for its extra helpings...
For conservatives, there's always a comfort of sorts in knowing that when it comes to any variety of socialism, anything that can't go on won't. Socialism is inherently unsustainable, always requiring a sugar daddy to pay its bills after all the money runs out. It always works, as Lady Thatcher put it, until you run out of other people's money.
This brings us to the municipality of Washington, D.C., which is going to see a vote for statehood in the House Friday but still wants Momma Government to take care of it like a prodigal toddler.
According to John Solomon's JustTheNews:
Like most other American cities, the District is required to balance its budget annually. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, city officials are claiming a $1.5 billion budget deficit and asking Congress for $3.15 billion over two years to alleviate the city's financials woes.
The Heroes Act, which passed through the lower chamber last month, allocates more money to Washington, D.C. than to several U.S. states. But according to a new report by Open the Books' Adam Andrzjewski, D.C. city employees are routinely paid (often significantly) higher salaries than their state and federal government counterparts.

Looters Destroy Ohio Woman’s Cupcake Shop, Then People Threaten Her Life for Cooperating With Police
An Ohio cupcake shop owner says she is receiving death threats for cooperating with police after her store was destroyed by looters.
Kelly Kandah owns Colossal Cupcakes in Cleveland, which was targeted by the rioters late last month while she and four of her employees hid in the bathroom. She has credited the police with saving their lives.
Appearing on Fox & Friends, Kandah said that along with the death threats, there have been people saying that once she rebuilds the shop “it’s going to get hit again.”
The small business owner said that people are upset that she is working with the FBI, which they say is “against the cause. She explained that “I’m actually absolutely for the cause, but it’s upsetting people that I would involve the police over something such as property.”

IT’S A COMMUNIST ASSAULT: Black Lives Matter Leaders Are Trained Marxists – Supporters of Socialist Maduro Regime – Behind the Removal of Statues Across the US
The Black Lives Matter movement tore down a statue of American Founding Father George Washington was toppled and vandalized last week in Portland, Oregon.
Black Lives Matter, the group behind this movement of toppling of statues and symbols of American excellence across the country, is an organization of trained, committed Marxists.

Insurgents from the left threaten to upend Democratic Party plans in Tuesday primaries
The progressive wing of the Democratic Party hasn’t had much to celebrate at the ballot box since populist Sen. Bernie Sanders suspended his presidential campaign two-and-a-half months ago.
But the left appears to be storming back, giving more moderate Democratic candidates some serious competition in newly competitive primaries in Kentucky and New York, two of the states holding contests on Tuesday.
The premier showdowns grabbing the national spotlight are the Democratic Senate primary in Kentucky, where establishment-backed Amy McGrath – who had been the heavy favorite and enjoyed a massive fundraising advantage – is facing a serious threat from progressive candidate and state Rep. Charles Booker.

A Viewer Writes: Local church pandering to black lives matter
Seems as though the local leaders in Salisbury and wicomico county are all either caving in or trying to cash in on the endless racial division. It seems as though Bill and Ruth Cropper of the uprising church in Hebron Maryland are the latest to run salt in the open wounds in downtown Salisbury. They are organizing a prayer vigil in support of the Black lives matter terrorist and Jake Day's LGBT community. They have the audacity to do this at the very sure where Bob Culver caved in and removed the infamous "Winder sign" and of all days July 4th. For those of us that have had the misfortune to have had dealings with this idiot Bill Cropper we know this ridiculous gesture is more about his attempt to recapture his five minutes of success and local fame. It seems as though Salisbury has no leaders left that have any backbone to find neutrality in such trying times to bring healing and people together. From Jake Day, Julie Glantz, Bob Culver, Mike Lewis and now the local Christian leaders are all on one side of the controversy bringing nothing but further turmoil and division.
Trump to Halt Foreign Visa Worker Programs to Free Up 600K U.S. Jobs for Americans
President Trump will expand an executive order on Monday, halting a series of visa programs that bring hundreds of thousands of foreign workers to the United States to take American jobs.
The order will halt the inflow of foreign worker pipelines until at least December 31. The visa programs suspended include:
H-1B visas, who take white-collar U.S. jobs
H-4 visas, who are the spouses of H-1B visa holders
H-2B visas, who take blue-collar nonagricultural U.S. jobs
L visas, who take white-collar U.S. jobs
J-1 visas, who take a variety of blue-collar and white-collar U.S. jobs
“Obviously American workers have been hurt, and it’s nobody’s fault that the coronavirus hit, but it did do a blow to the economy and to businesses who were furloughing and laying people off, and we want to make sure that Americans get hired into those spots,” said Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acting Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli.
Altogether, the order is expected to free up about 600,000 American jobs for the more than 30,000,000 Americans who are jobless mostly due to the Chinese coronavirus crisis.
That includes about 287,000 U.S. jobs freed up for Americans that would have otherwise been taken by H-1B, H-2B, and L-1 visa workers, according to Cuccinelli.
Halting the J-1 visa program through the end of the year is set to free up about 97,000 U.S. jobs that would have otherwise gone to foreign workers.

Crazy Woman Who Banned Her State from Buying Seeds and Punished Barbers Now Wants a Bailout from Trump
In March crazed Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer prohibited big box retailers from in-person sale of seeds because according to her, plant seeds were non-essential.
Whitmer also called on Home Depot and Lowes to close off certain sections like flooring, garden centers and plant nurseries.
In late March Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer limited access of doctors from prescribing the lifesaving drugs hydroxychloroquine and Z-Paks to save senior citizens in the state from Coronavirus. Then she continued to send coronavirus patients to nursing homes. This is still happening in May!

The Democrats’ civil war is bad for the United States: Devine
The riots and mayhem on our streets in the shadow of the presidential campaign are in some ways a function of the civil war raging inside the Democratic Party between the radical left and the old guard.
The radical left, represented by freshman democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her so-called “squad” of progressive congresswomen, has been staging a hostile takeover against the old guard, represented by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. That old guard is trying to preserve its power with a strategy of appeasement that is dragging the party even further left.
Whether it’s defunding police, closing jails, open borders, legalizing drugs, or the poverty-inducing Green New Deal, the democratic socialists are winning arguments inside the party.
The only thing that unites the two warring factions is a mutual loathing for President Trump. But their existential psychodrama is destabilizing our political system.

Fall of the Ancient Roman Republic may have been triggered by a massive volcanic eruption in Alaska in 43 BC that set off a global climate shock leading to famine and unrest
Scientists say a massive volcanic eruption in Alaska more than 2,500 years ago triggered a global climate shock on the other side of the Earth that led to the fall of the Roman Republic.
The eruption of Mount Okmok on an Alaskan island in the year 43 BC – an event known as 'Okmok II' – spewed ash particles that cooled the planet by shading incoming solar radiation.
Scientists say this caused with a spell of extreme cold in the Mediterranean during the European summer – the second-coldest of the last 2,500 years.

Authorities are letting Jeffrey Epstein’s fixer Ghislaine Maxwell get away with it
We got Osama bin Laden, but we can’t catch a repulsive fugitive socialite?
Since the death of sex trafficker-rapist-pedophile Jeffrey Epstein last August, the woman who allegedly recruited his many, many underage girls and sexually abused them herself has been in hiding.
And Ghislaine Maxwell has hardly been moving cave-to-cave.
Most recent reports put the 58-year-old in a luxury apartment in Paris, right off the Champs Elysees.
At the risk of stating the obvious, Paris, too, is on COVID-19 lockdown. The Sun reports that Maxwell is currently living on Avenue Matignon in the city’s 8th arrondissement, in an apartment reportedly owned by a Normandy-based millionaire.
This would put her just five minutes away from the late Epstein’s own Parisian apartment, which was raided shortly after his suicide.
So: where is the urgency? Why hasn’t this depraved criminal suspect, one who by many credible accounts sexually abused minors for years, been arrested yet?
France may not have an extradition treaty with the U.S., but that doesn’t explain why French authorities haven’t taken her into custody. It’s well-known that Jeffrey Epstein was a sexual predator who knew no geographic boundaries. Maxwell appears to have been his madam, his pimp, his enabler, his co-conspirator, and reportedly a sexual offender herself.

The Irish slave trade began when 30,000 Irish prisoners were sold as slaves to the New World. The King James I Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves.
Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well.
During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.
Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They’ll come up with terms like “Indentured Servants” to describe what occurred to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.
As an example, the African slave trade was just beginning during this same period. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to purchase, were often treated far better than their Irish counterparts.

Dr. Alveda King: Trump Is Moving the Nation Toward Police Reform and Racial Justice
“In his ‘I Have a Dream’ address of August 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called for an end to the scourge of racism in the United States,” writes King’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, in the Washington Examiner.
“As President Trump works toward building a more perfect union, America can dream again. Immediately after Floyd's brutal death, Trump made clear that he is fully committed to ensuring justice will be served for George and his family—that he will not have died on that gray pavement in vain.”

'No white people are allowed on this road': Man, woman say group with guns attacked them, damaged their car near Atlanta Wendy's
'Only African Americans are allowed on this road. You're white, you're a cracker ... You're not allowed on this road. Turn around.'
Police said a man and woman were attacked with rocks by a group of men gathered in front of the burned-out Wendy's restaurant in Atlanta where Rayshard Brooks was fatally shot by police, WSB-TV reported.
What are the details?
Ty Spiceland, 35, and a woman who didn't want to be identified were confronted by several people — some of whom were armed with handguns — on University Avenue around 1:30 p.m., the station said. Spiceland told WSB that members of the group punched him three times in the face when he rolled down his window and then threw rocks at his car.
In additional video from WSB reporter Matt Johnson, Spiceland also said he was told that white people aren't allowed on the road.
"Overall I absolutely agree with their side," he said. "All I wanted to do is just roll down the window and try and reason with the guy and say, 'Hey, we're not going to Wendy's, we're just passing through, we'll be gone in one second.' And he just didn't want to hear that or anything about that, he straight-up said, 'No white people are allowed on this road.'"

Virginia Government Proposes Draconian Workplace Regulations
Still operating under the authority of emergency power related to the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) and his administration have proposed sweeping new regulations for all employers and employees in the state.
Announcing an emergency meeting for this Wednesday, the governor's Safety and Heath Board laid out new, far-reaching regulations ostensibly meant to protect workers in the food preparations and health care industries. However, the extensive proposition of new rules and regulations spell out major hurdles for all Virginia businesses, including office work and retail, attempting to re-open.
With the force of state emergency powers behind him, Gov. Northam possesses the ability to make these rules law with a simple signature. Comments from concerned residents and business owners will be closed by Monday evening and the full force of the regulations could be implemented on Wednesday. The laws do not automatically vanish when the emergency phase is lifted or if the threat of COVID-19 infection is greatly diminished either.
Among the list of new proposed laws, which would be in addition to, not a replacement of, current laws, is a requirement of all Virginia employers and employees to wear face coverings at all times, with no exceptions. Though facial coverings in businesses have been required since the end of May throughout the state, exceptions were made for contracted and sub-contracted employees. Under new proposed regulations, this will no longer be the case.
Full employer access to employee medical records and past "hazard communication" would also be required under the proposed regulations.
Poultry processing employers are singled out specifically in the 200+ page regulation proposal, saying that all employees must be temperature screened every day. Any employee who failed said temperature check, which is not defined in the legislation, would be sent home with full pay.
This proposal, as the Poultry Federation pointed out, does not take into account the unreliability of temperature screenings considering that high temperatures have many causes and infected persons may not even have an elevated temperature.
Whether the Commonwealth should require employers to screen their workers with temperature checks given this limited utility, while also considering the risk to the temperature taker, may ultimately be beneficial, but it is a decision that should be made in the ordinary rulemaking process where all available facts and viewpoints can be reviewed in a considered manner.

America's choice: To be like Chicago, or not
'Proclivity for violence can reshape America into a brutish nation'
By Steve Cortes
Real Clear Politics
Now-indicted actor Jussie Smollett claimed that Donald Trump partisans attacked him late at night on a deserted Chicago street in January 2019. Though most of the corporate media gladly amplified his concocted tale, to sensible Chicagoans the story reeked from the jump. First, because the bone-chilling polar vortex that night practically precluded outdoor human activities, even for hearty Windy City residents. And even before evidence emerged that he paid two Nigerian brothers to stage the “attack,” Smollett’s story that his assailants screamed “this is MAGA country” seemed farfetched to the point of farce: 21st century Chicagoans are fully aware of the deep-blue Democratic political proclivities of our city.
But that scam prompts a pertinent question for today. Do we, as a nation, want to be Chicago or MAGA country? As societal unrest and economic anxiety grip our land, the ascendant and increasingly aggressive leftists seek a wholesale transformation of America into the harsh realities of Chicago, a place afflicted by violence, bereft of opportunity, and committed to stifling statism.
In recent weeks, agitators have deployed street violence to achieve political power in ways unseen in this country since at least the 1960s, and perhaps since the Civil War. Amazingly, a litany of establishment media voices are providing explicit approval and cover for them. CNN anchor Chris Cuomo declared, “Show me where it says protests are to be polite and peaceful.” Well, Chris, human decency and common sense dictate that protests in a civil society entail neither violence nor vandalism. But, if you are too conscience-challenged for such awareness, the First Amendment to our Constitution also protects, explicitly, “the right of the people to peaceably assemble.” Perhaps Cuomo skipped Bill of Rights day when he attended law school.

Luongo: The US Is In Civil War (And Why Berman's Firing Matters)
The U.S. is in a Civil War. It began four years ago after Donald Trump’s election and has finally boiled over into open warfare here in 2020.
From the moment the protests against the killing of George Floyd were hijacked into looting and rioting I worried about this turning into something far greater, something with a far higher purpose.
Within a couple of days it was obvious the U.S. was now the subject of a color revolution of the same type and build up that occurred in places like Ukraine, Georgia, Egypt, Serbia and others.
And it’s pretty clear the color for our revolution isn’t orange or brown or violet, it’s black.
The questions I have are why this is happening now? The obvious answer is the full court press to deny Trump a second term. That’s a practically stated goal at this point.
But I feel this is far deeper than that, and likely has to do with knowing that Trump has pieces in place post-Jeffrey Epstein raid/murder to upset the Deep State’s apple cart.
And that brings me to why I’m interested in Hungary again.
I haven’t spoken much about Hungary in recent months but maybe I should have been. For me the two big stories of the week are:
1) Trump explicitly going after the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and the removal of U.S. Attorney Geoff Berman.
2) The European Court of Justice striking down Hungary’s Anti-NGO law which targets George Soros’ ability to fund revolutionary groups within Hungary.
