Sen. Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii) on Tuesday called for liberal activists to believe in climate change as if it were a "religion."
Hirono said on Tuesday that liberals will need to show zeal for environmental issues if they are going to defeat President Donald Trump in 2020. At an event hosted by the Center for American Progress, Hirono told the audience to "Believe in climate change as though it's a religion, it's not, it's science."
"Get people out to vote, so that we can have people here who truly are committed to human rights, environmental rights," Hirono said at the event.

Philadelphia man allegedly used 11-month-old son as human shield during shooting
The father of an 11-month-old son in Philadelphia has been charged with recklessly endangering a child after he allegedly used the boy as a human shield against gunfire, according to prosecutors.
The toddler, Yaseem Munir Jenkins, was shot four times including once in the head and taken to the hospital in critical condition on Oct. 19.
Authorities said the boy was in the back of a car along with his father, Nafes Monroe, his stepmother and another man when shots rang out. They said Monroe was using his son as a human shield to thwart off a potential upset drug dealer, according to 6 ABC.

She is "indisposed due to illness," Chief Justice John Roberts said at the start of proceedings. She intended to participate in the consideration of the cases by reading briefs and transcripts, Roberts added.
Ginsburg, 86, is the oldest member of the court and the anchor of its liberal bloc. She has survived four bouts of cancer. If she were to die or retire, President Trump would have the opportunity to appoint a third justice to the high court, potentially cementing a 6-3 conservative majority for decades to come.

Worcester Enrollment Projections Raise School Crowding Concerns
BERLIN – When Berlin officials approved plans for the addition of apartments to the Purnell Crossing development, residents were quick to question the impact they would have on local schools. They worried enrollment, which seems to always be on the rise, would increase dramatically between the apartments under construction on Seahawk Road and those planned for Old Ocean City Boulevard.
“The world is about to bear down on this part of the Eastern Shore and we’re just not prepared,” Berlin resident Jeff Smith said.
In the last five years, enrollment in Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) has increased 2%. While the rise in students overall is slight, north end schools have seen a bit more growth, with a 3% increase in enrollment. A close look at Berlin, however, shows that enrollment at Buckingham Elementary School has increased 14% between 2014 and 2018. A student body of 487 students in 2014 grew to 556 in 2018.

“Since the election, real wages have gone up 3.2 percent for the median American worker,” Trump said in a speech Tuesday to the Economic Club of New York. “But for the bottom income group, real wages are soaring. A number that has never happened before. Nine percent.”

The lowest-paid Americans saw weekly earnings rise by more than 5 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier, according to a quarterly survey of households produced by the Labor Department. “That may mean you make a couple of bucks less in your companies,” Trump said. “And you know what? That’s okay. This is a great thing for our country. When you talk about equality. This is a great thing for our country.”

Maryland Popeyes customer attacked by six juveniles, police say
Six juveniles in black hoods attacked a man in his 50s at a Popeyes restaurant in Silver Spring on Tuesday night, Maryland police said.
The incident continued a wave of violent incidents linked to the fast-food chain since it added a popular chicken sandwich item to its menu.
Police told WUSA-TV of Washington that the man’s wife called to report her husband had been assaulted inside the restaurant, suffering a cut lip.

Frederick County Democrats Take Confederate Ride
Gardner and Donald, both Democrats, took their ride at the Brunswick Veterans Parade held on Sunday. Sources shared with Red Maryland photos of both Gardner and Donald riding in the back of a truck that had both a Sons of Confederate Veterans license plate and a second confederate sticker on the truck. Based on their placement, it would be impossible for either to avoid noticing the emblems on the truck.
As noted above, the truck also had a National Rifle Association sticker on it as well.

The 32nd Annual Wicomico Yacht Club Toys 4 Tots Christmas boat parade will be held Saturday November 30th 2019.
This year's parade has a revised itinerary. The decorated fleet will assemble at the Port Of Salisbury Marina and depart from downtown Salisbury at 5:30 PM. The illuminated boats will make 2 passes thru the downtown harbor area from Chesapeake Shipbuilders past Brew River and turning around at the West Main St drawbridge.
Immediately afterwards the parade of boats will head down river passing Upper Ferry about 6:45 and arriving at the Wicomico Yacht Club around 7:45.
Spectators will be able to view the lighted boats anyplace along the
Wicomico River from downtown Salisbury all the way to the Wicomico Creek.
Once again Wicomico Yacht Club will be collecting gifts & toys to benefit Toys 4 Tots. Anyone who would like to contribute to the collection effort may do so by giving items to any WYC member, dropping donated toys & gifts at the WYC clubhouse, or giving donated items to parade participants on their boats prior to the parade leaving the Port Of Salisbury Marina.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich (D) this past week told a community forum that to pay for the Kirwan Commission’s $ 4 billion educational spending recommendations, the state should legalize and control the sale of marijuana.[i] According to Bethesda Beat, Elrich’s vision includes the state government controlling marijuana dispensaries, much like how the county government operates its liquor stores.
Among the many, many problems with Elrich’s proposal for paying for Kirwan, the county-run liquor stores actually lose money.
According to a more detailed financial analysis recently completed for the County Council, the liquor monopoly’s net profit is entirely due to its wholesale warehouse operation. The County’s retail operation, its twenty-five stores with a monopoly on selling hard liquor, in fact, loses money. The loss is about $5 million a year.

Dean Foods, America's biggest milk producer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday. Following the surge in popularity of milk alternatives in recent years, the company's sales have plummeted.
The Dallas-based company is responsible for some of the country's most recognizable brands, including DairyPure, Friendly's and Land O'Lakes. It said in a press release that it plans to use the bankruptcy process to continue running its business, address debt, and pay currently unfunded pensions to its employees.
The 94-year-old company also announced that it plans to look for a buyer. It is in talks with Dairy Farmers of America, Inc., a national milk marketing cooperative owned by thousands of farmers, regarding a potential sale.

The student newspaper of one of the most prominent journalism schools in the country apologized for its coverage of a recent visit to campus by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The Daily Northwestern, the newspaper of Northwestern University, sent a reporter to cover Sessions’s address to the College Republicans and another reporter to cover student activists who objected to the Trump administration’s treatment of immigrants, protesting the speech.

Maryland State Police Arrest Two Suspects In Salisbury Stabbing
The suspects, Christopher Wolcott, 29, of Mardela Springs, Maryland and Desiree Duncan, 42, of Salisbury, Maryland, are charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and theft of less than $100. Both suspects were taken for processing at central booking.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack were dispatched to the 900 block of West Road in Salisbury, Maryland on a report of a stabbing. The victim, a 56-year-old male, was located by troopers and transported by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Due to the nature of the incident, Criminal Enforcement Lower Shore was contacted to take over the investigation. Wolcott and Duncan were located in the area of Substation Road, where the stabbing is believed to have taken place. The suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Salisbury Barrack for questioning before being charged.
The case remains under investigation.
Greta Thunberg to set sail back to Europe sooner than expected
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg plans to set sail from Virginia for Spain Wednesday after the venue for United Nations-sponsored climate talks were moved from Chile due to political unrest.
The 16-year-old arrived in the United States in August after sailing across the Atlantic on a racing boat from Plymouth, England.
Since then, she has traveled around the country advocating for climate change awareness and action.

Parking continues to present problems
Parking remains one of the most contentious issues across college campuses today.
Who can park where, how much parking is available and what is being done are questions that many students have.
Salisbury University is no exception.
Last Tuesday, students had a chance to participate in a Parking and Transportation Town Hall and voice their concerns over the parking situation.
Increased fines for improper parking on campus have contributed significantly to the unrest among students who may be expected on campus for meetings or appointments, as explained by Student Government Association Junior Speaker of Senate David McCreary.

Narrative: On 10 November 2019 at 5:38 PM, a deputy attempted to strop a vehicle operated by Nicholas Lopez for erratic driving and crossing the center line. As Lopez pulled to a stop, he jumped from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The deputy caught up with and quickly detained Lopez before he got too far.
The deputy discovered that Lopez’s privilege to drive a vehicle was both suspended and revoked and Lopez stated that he attempted to tun away because he feared going to jail.
The deputy transported Lopez to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Lopez on a $3,000 unsecured bond.

Narrative: On 11 November 2019 a deputy stopped a vehicle on Old Ocean City Road after observing the vehicle traveling unusually slow and impeding the flow of regular traffic. Upon contacting the two occupants, the deputy observed they were both overtly nervous in the presence of the uniformed deputy. During an investigation into the occupant’s activities, the deputy requested the passenger Heather Smith to step from the vehicle. It was at this point the deputy noticed that Smith was visibly shaking as she exited the car. During the subsequent encounter, the deputy recovered a smoking device, crack cocaine and other related paraphernalia from Smith. SBYNEWS

John Durham interviewed Australian diplomat whose tip prompted Trump-Russia investigation
U.S. Attorney John Durham reportedly interviewed the Australian diplomat whose tip about George Papadopoulos effectively started the counterintelligence investigation into President Trump's campaign in July 2016.
Alexander Downer, who was Australia's high commissioner to the United Kingdom up until last year, met with Durham's team last month in London and is said to have told investigators he was not part of a conspiratorial plot to undermine Trump, according to the Australian.
Under the supervision of Attorney General William Barr, Durham is conducting an investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, examining the conduct of the Justice Department, FBI, and intelligence community. Last month, Durham shifted his administrative review to a criminal investigation that allows his team the power to impanel a grand jury and hand down indictments.

Judicial Watch Obtains Emails Disputing Hillary Clinton’s Claim
Judicial Watch announced that it has received from the U.S. Department of Justice 119 pages of records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) revealing that, after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statement denying the transmission of classified information over her non-secure email system, former FBI official Peter Strzok sent an email to FBI officials citing “three [Clinton email] chains” containing (C) [classified] portion marks in front of paragraphs.”
The records containing emails from Strzok and former FBI attorney Lisa Page also reveal senior FBI officials’ concerns over articles written about the “tarmac meeting” between former President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch. Strzok specifically cited a CBS News report terming the meeting “shocking, absolutely shocking,” and adding that, “the appearance of impropriety is just stunning.”
The document production came in response to Judicial Watch’s January 24, 2018, lawsuit.

Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the State Department for communications among U.S. and Guatemalan officials regarding the of International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG, its acronym in Spanish).
Judicial Watch filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the State Department failed to comply with May and August 2018 FOIA requests for records of communications and meetings between the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and CICIG’s Commissioner Iván Velásquez Gómez; any representative of CICIG; as well as other Guatemalan officials. Judicial Watch also seeks records of communications of State Department officials, including Ambassador Todd Robinson, with Velásquez and others related to CICIG (Judicial Watch Inc. v U.S. Department of State (No.1:19-cv-00968)).
The U.N.’s CICIG was formed in December 2006 and given the mission of strengthening the rule of law in Guatemala but has been embroiled in controversy and was reportedly politicizing the judiciary:
CICIG says it is in Guatemala merely to “support” the attorney general in her work “identifying and dismantling” criminal networks and is not involved in politics. But an academic analysis of CICIG by Jonatán Lemus, a Francisco MarroquÃn University political science professor, suggests otherwise. Mr. Lemus observes that “CICIG has also been criticized for the very same reasons others have praised it: becoming a player in judicial appointments, proposing some controversial reforms to the Guatemalan constitution, and the use of televised conferences to shift the public in its favor. From this perspective, instead of strengthening Guatemalan institutions, the Commission is making national institutions dependent on its assistance.”
