Joe Ollinger Fails To Draw Yet Another Chamber Crowd

You might say this Chamber Forum today was slightly more impressive than the last one the other night. Their top dog, Joe Ollinger was able to attract a whopping "8" people this time, instead of "7" people the other night. While the CROWD waited with anticipation as to just what Joe will say this time, well, they got what they deserve.

Joe Ollinger was asked the following questions, followed by his answers.

He was asked how he felt about the law enforcement throughout the County. He replied, if elected we would have ONE law enforcement agency run by the Sheriff's Department.

When asked how he felt about the staffing in the Executive Branch/Office he replied, "Don't confuse effort with result."

He stated he would ask Ted Shea to stay on, (if elected) for 3 months and then do a national search for a County Administrator.

NOW GET THIS! He was asked how he felt the County was being run with the new form of governing. Joe Ollinger replied, The old form was just fine. (everyone started laughing) and he went on to say he is NOT in favor of a County Executive.

He was asked if he was in favor of an elected school board, "Yes".

Joe Ollinger went on to say, "I am not in favor of the revenue cap."

When it came to the BOE costing taxpayers 48% of the overall budget Ollinger replied, I would hire someone 48% of the time to work with BOE and the balance of time elsewhere. He went on to say the state and feds are doing more harm than good.

When asked about taxes in Wicomico County Ollinger replied, "People knew what the taxes were when they moved here. If they don't like it they can move."

When asked about impact fees Ollinger stated he was in favor of impact fees, as long as 100% of the money goes to the Board of Education.

I have to be completely honest with you Folks, Joe Ollinger confuses me like there's no tomorrow. Look, this guy is clearly clueless on so many topics. For a guy to claim he's not in favor of the County Executive position to start with, why in the hell is he even running for Office then.

Then there's the impact fees. While I'll allow others to comment on the technicality of that subject and Joe's impression of wanting to give 100% of it to the BOE, that would be illegal Joe, GET A GRIP.

Again, I'll allow comments to take over on this subject and chime in every so often. This man is either clueless or he's simply a shill, (which is what I believe) to help Pollitt easily slide right back onto Office. I know, it sounds crazy, right. OK, if you think so, what was Louise Smith then!!!!!!!! HELLO, wake up Salisbury and Wicomico County. You've been duped in the past, you're getting duped once again.

By the way, WAY TO GO Republican Central Committee. You brought Louise Smith to the table and now Joe Ollinger. Sorry Folks but what a group of Idiots!

PRMC And Blue Cross And Blue Shield

"Hey Joe,

Just wanted to give you and your readers a heads up and something you might want
to look into, but word on the streets is PRMC is NOT accepting Blue Cross and
Blue Shield insurance. I don't know if it only concerns outpatient testing or
the whole shabang. Hopefully your readers who work at PRMC can shed some light
on the situation."

Mikulski Says Senators Will Question Berwick At 'Confirmation Hearings'--Despite His Recess Appointment

Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland said Wednesday that senators will ask Dr. Donald Berwick whether he intends to follow the recently enacted health-care law as "we go through the confirmation hearings" for him.

Berwick, in fact, never had a confirmation hearing in the Senate Finance Committee, which had oversight over his nomination to be administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. President Barack Obama bypassed the Senate confirmation process entirely, giving Berwick a recess appointment last week before the committee could act on his nomination.

On Capitol Hill on Wednesday, CNSNews.com asked Senator Mikulski: “On July 1, 2008, in a speech commemorating the 60th anniversary of Britain’s single-payer health-care system, Dr. Donald Berwick, President Obama’s recess-appointee to run Medicare and Medicaid said quote: ‘Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must--must--redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate.’ Do you agree with that or disagree with that?”

Mikulski responded: “Well, rather than looking at the quotes of Dr. Berwick, I’m going to look at what the health reform bill is. I believe that any appointment of President Obama is not about his personal opinions, it’s about him following the law. And as we go through the confirmation hearings, we’ll say, ‘Dr. Berwick, you know what the law is, do you intend to follow it?’”

BREAKING NEWS: Utah Identifies 2 Allegedly Behind Immigrant List

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah officials have identified at least two state workers who apparently breached a state database to create a list of 1,300 purported illegal immigrants.

Gov. Gary Herbert's office said Friday that the employees work for the Department of Workforce Services, which administers food stamp programs and other public benefits.

News media, law enforcement and other government officials started receiving the list of names and personal information this week, creating widespread fear in the Hispanic community. The anonymous mailing demands that those on the list be deported, although some named have said they are in the country legally.

The list contains Social Security numbers, birth dates, workplaces, addresses and phone numbers. Names of children are included, along with due dates of pregnant women.

The governor's office has said it will give information about the breach to the state attorney general's office by Monday so it can decide whether to file charges.

Intentionally releasing a private record in Utah is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. If someone stole such a record, it could be prosecuted as a felony with a penalty punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The investigation continued Friday, even though state employees usually have the day off as part of the state's four-day workweek to cut energy costs.

3-Story Parking Garage Partially Collapses In N.J.

Emergency crews look into reports of 2 people missing

A glass canopy fell off of a high-rise condominium building and onto a parking garage two stories below on Friday, partly flattening the structure and damaging vehicles, authorities said. Workers couldn't immediately get into the rubble to check out reports that two people could be trapped inside.

The possibility of another collapse was keeping out firefighters, Hackensack fire Lt. Stephen Lindner said.

The Bergen County Office of Emergency Management said it was looking into unconfirmed reports that two people may be missing.

The three-level garage "pancaked" when the canopy fell on it, said Chris Baldo, who lives in the adjacent high-rise condominium tower.

Ehrlich Supports Arizona Law

Our very own Liberal Progressive:

"Governor O'Malley doesn't support Arizona or the Arizona law, because it puts immigration reform at the state level when it should be handled at the federal level", O'Malley's spokesman, Shaun Adamec, said.

Republican Robert Ehrlich,

"O'Malley's opponent in Maryland's governor's race, said he supports Arizona's law, because the federal government has repeatedly failed to address the issue, forcing Arizona to take action on its own."

"It's an issue that both parties have failed to remedy at the federal level," Ehrlich said in a telephone interview.

Environmental Health Officials Advise Residents To Stay Away From Stray/Feral Cats

“Love Your Own, Leave Others Alone”

Salisbury, MD
– Environmental Health Officials in Wicomico County are reminding residents to stay away from feral cats and other stray animals posing a serious public health threat to both humans and domestic animals. Feral cats may carry and spread diseases such as Rabies, Cryptosporidiosis, Giardiasis, Toxoplasmosis, Bartonellosis (cat scratch fever) and Salmonellosis. These diseases are known to cause serious illness and in some cases, if left untreated, are fatal.

The feral/stray cat population in Wicomico County is similar to that of many other neighborhoods across the nation dealing with this issue. Residents are urged to consider a few pro-active steps to reduce the number of feral cats in their neighborhood and protect themselves, their family and their pets.
Please keep the following tips in mind:
Avoid all contact with wild or stray animals;
Teach children to leave unfamiliar animals alone;
Vaccinate pets-Maryland law requires that all dogs, cats, and ferrets, 4 months of age and older have a current rabies vaccination;
· Avoid feeding pets outside - do not leave food or water outside;
· Secure outside garbage lids

To report abnormal animal behavior, please call Animal Control at the Wicomico County Humane Society: (410) 749-7603. All animal bites or scratches should be reported to the Wicomico County Health Department (410) 546-4446.

A Letter To The Editor About Rick Pollitt

RICK POLLITT – IS HE OUR EMPIRE BUILDER TO BE?

***Warning: sit down before reading further and proceed at your own risk!***

Recently, in response to a question that he surely anticipated, Mr. Pollitt let it all hang out. And it’s not a pretty sight.

Being interviewed and answering a question regarding the public criticism about the cost of the County Executive’s (his) personal staff – which includes the former County Administrator, Ted Shea, personal mouthpiece Jim Fineran and others -- Pollitt suggested, although “proposed” may be more apropos, that his staff should be expanded to include even more personnel so that he would have more time to meet the public to discuss matters of concern. Not being seated, at this point I began getting up from the floor as his response continued.

Mr. Pollitt then said that the shift to the County Executive system was not done – approved by the voters, that is – to save money, and because the County Executive was not intended to be an administrator there needs to be a sizeable staff to run the county government. He also said that the larger counties have big staffs to assist the County Executive, and jealousy was noticeable in his voice.

Once again, I got myself off the floor and began pondering if there is an antidote to this poison. Fortunately, there may be one readily available – keep the tax revenue cap that Mr. Pollitt believes should be repealed.

And the best way to do that is to elect Republicans to the Wicomico County Council

Court Strikes Challenge To D.C. Gay Marriage Law

WASHINGTON - D.C.'s highest court has ruled against opponents of the city's same sex-marriage law, saying they cannot ask voters to overturn it.

Opponents had wanted to challenge a law that took effect in Washington in March allowing same-sex couples to marry. They attempted to get approval to put an initiative on the ballot asking city voters to define marriage in the city as between one man and one woman. But city officials balked, saying a district human rights law barred initiatives that would authorize discrimination.

O'Malley Admits Negative Ads Included 'Mistake'

WASHINGTON - Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley says his negative radio ads linking former Gov. Bob Ehrlich, to the BP oil spill was a "tactical mistake."

"What we should not have mentioned was the fact that the oil spill is going on in that ad, and that was a tactical mistake that my campaign made," O'Malley said Thursday on WTOP's Ask the Governor program.

O'Malley came under fire for the ad which called Ehrlich a lobbyist and linked the former governor to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

"When they wanted to open new parts of the Gulf for drilling, Ehrlich voted with big oil again," the ads says, referring to Ehrlich's 2001 vote when he was a member of the United States Congress.

The measure had wide bipartisan support including every Maryland Democrat in the House.
O'Malley said the mistake gave the Ehrlich Campaign an opportunity to cry foul.

3.6 Earthquake Shakes Region

WASHINGTON - A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook the WTOP listening area just after 5 a.m.

The U.S. Geological Survey says it happened at exactly 5:04:49 a.m.

"It was centered in the Germantown-Gaithersburg area," Randy Baldwin, a physicist with the U.S. Geological Survey's Earthquake Information Center tells WTOP.

"It was certainly widely felt throughout the area," Baldwin says.

"There's always a chance of getting aftershocks. As a general rule, the aftershocks are of a less magnitude."

D.C. emergency services says there are no reports of any damage or injuries. No problems with utilities are reported. No problems are reported with Metro.

Lucille Baur, public information officer for the Montgomery County Police Department, said the department received a lot of calls from people wondering what had happened.

Baur said her husband woke up when the quake struck.

"At first he thought it was a big truck going through," Baur said. "He felt the house shake and the windows rattle a little bit."

"It may have felt like a truck passing by, things were rattling on their shelves," says Jessica Sigala, a geophysicist with USGS.

Sigala tells Federal News Radio says the bedrock is different in the eastern U.S. She says when an earthquake shakes on the East Coast, you feel it for a greater distance than you do on the West Coast.

"When something shakes, it goes everywhere," she says.

Let's Recycle The Swirling Vortex Of Plastic Garbage Into An Island Utopia

The North Pacific Gyre is a giant mass of plastic detritus churning around in the Pacific that isn't going anywhere soon, and its killing off fish and birds. The birds eat it and it fills up their stomach so that they don't have any hunger, and then they die of starvation with their stomachs full of plastic. Now one group has an admittedly far-fetched notion to recycle the plastic on the spot via floating factory ships and use the material to build a floating island utopia.

1.6 Million Homes Hit With Foreclosure Notices In First Half Of 2010

If you received a foreclosure notice this year, you're not alone. According to tracking firm RealtyTrac, 1.6 million properties received a foreclosure filing -- defined as default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions -- during the first half of 2010. The good news: that number is down 5% from the previous six months. The bad? It's up 8% from the first half of last year. And RealtyTrac doesn't see any relief coming, as a "massive number of distressed properties and underwater loans continues to sit just below the surface."

Boehner Says Democrats In ‘Full-Scale Civil War’

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday that Democrats are in a “full-scale civil war” after White House spokesman Robert Gibbs acknowledged his party might lose the House in November.

The top-ranking House Republican told reporters “the panic that’s building among Democrats erupted into a full-scale civil war when the president’s spokesman suggested his party could lose control of the House this fall.”

But Boehner blames Democrats for passing President Obama’s unpopular government programs, including the economic stimulus bill last year.

“House Democrats are angry because they see the White House throwing them under the bus, but let’s not forget that House Democrats gave President Obama every dollar, every tax hike, every stimulus program and every government takeover that he asked for. The only thing that the American people asked the Democrats to do was to say no and yet, they didn’t,” Boehner contended.

Specter Hitting Up Obama For Administration Job

Outgoing Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Penn., is asking for a job from the White House, according to ABC News’ Jake Tapper.

Specter reportedly is saying that he would like to remain in public service after his Senate term ends at the end of this session. White House officials are keeping an open mind about possible job openings for him.

Specter, who was defeated in his March primary by Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Penn., is a close friend of Vice President Joe Biden.

Neither the White House nor Specter had any comment.

But talk of such a job is raising eyebrows among Specter’s Republican Senate colleagues. They’re taking a close look at his recent votes.

For instance, Specter seemed not particularly impressed with Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, whose nomination as Solicitor General Specter opposed last year...

This week he announced support for her Supreme Court nomination.

Quotas Hidden In Bank Reform Bill Will Cost Taxpayers Millions

Buried deep in the bowels of the massive financial-regulation bill passed by the Senate Thursday are massive race- and gender-employment provisions that will cost countless millions to enforce and appear to duplicate other civil-rights initiatives already in place.

More importantly, all private financial institutions doing business with the federal government will be affected by them, sources tell Newsmax.

Opponents say the provision was put in the bill to help garner political support for its passage. They object that it was inserted with almost no discussion or debate, and call it a "power grab."

Four members of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights recently penned a letter to Vice President Joe Biden, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and several other leading senators, objecting to the new fair-employment regime in the Dodd-Frank legislation now headed to the president's desk.

"The likelihood that it will in fact promote discrimination is overwhelming," the letter states.

Section 342 of the bill calls for an "Office of Minority and Women Inclusion" to be established in each of 29 federal bureaus and offices.

The regulations appear to go beyond ensuring that discrimination in hiring decisions does not occur. Instead, it requires assurance of "fair inclusion." Furchtgott-Roth says it will pressure companies to find and hire minorities even if one hasn't applied for a specific job.

The bill's affirmative action provisions -- some suggest they are de facto quotas -- would apply not only to the 29 federal agencies but also to all "financial institutions, investment banking firms, mortgage banking firms, asset management firms, brokers, dealers, financial services entities, underwriters, accountants, investment consultants, and providers of legal services" who do business with them.

Moreover, the law also applies to those firms' sub-contractors "as applicable."

Furchtgott-Roth says that means financial firms seeking to do business with the government will have to verify the racial and gender composition of their subcontractors -- including office-cleaning crews, paper-shredding vendors, office-party catering firms -- if they wish to do business with the government.

Each Office of Minority of Women Inclusion will have an executive-level director, and support personnel, who will set standards to increase "participation of minority-owned and women-owned businesses in the programs and contract of the agency…."

Arizona Immigration Law Hearing Ends With No Ruling

Arizona's impending immigration law went before a federal judge for the first time Thursday, and attorneys for both sides sparred over who had the right to enforce immigration law: local officials or the federal government.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton didn't rule on whether to block the law from taking effect July 29, or whether to dismiss the lawsuit, one of seven. Hearings in two other lawsuits — including one filed by the federal government — are set for July 22, and the judge has been careful to give no hints on who she might favor.

At stake is more than just who can detain illegal immigrants within U.S. borders. If Bolton rules in Arizona's favor, it opens the door to states taking on issues that have long been the responsibility of the federal government.

John Bouma, an attorney representing the state, argued Arizona shouldn't have to suffer from the country's broken immigration system when it has 15,000 police officers who can arrest illegal immigrants.

"Just leaving it in the status quo leaves the state of Arizona in economic harm, in irreparable harm, every day," Bouma said, noting the state's steep education and health care costs for illegal immigrants.

But allowing Arizona to carry out its own immigration law violates all court decisions that hold that only the federal government can handle immigration, said Stephen Montoya, an attorney for Phoenix police Officer David Salgado, who filed the lawsuit along with the statewide nonprofit group Chicanos Por La Causa.

"The federal government doesn't want this assistance," Montoya said.

Justice Department Withheld Evidence From 9/11 Panel

A U.S. congressman from Virginia charges the Justice Department withheld from Congress and the Sept. 11 Commission key documents concerning the investigation of a fugitive al-Qaida cleric at the heart of the Sept. 11, 2001, plot and other terrorism.

Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., has called on the White House to re-impanel the Sept. 11 Commission to investigate the FBI's post–Sept. 11 probe of Anwar Awlaki, an American-born imam who met privately with some of the Sept. 11 hijackers before fleeing the country and inspiring other terrorists, including the Fort Hood attacker.

Wolf points to recent revelations that the Justice Department issued a felony arrest warrant for Awlaki (aka Aulaqi) in June 2002, when he was living in Northern Virginia and preaching at a local mosque – only to withdraw the warrant the day before Awlaki returned to the U.S. from a trip to Saudi Arabia.

In October 2002, Awlaki – who at the time appeared on a terrorist lookout as the subject of several terror probes – was briefly detained by federal agents at JFK International Airport in New York City after arriving on a Saudi jetliner. The FBI field office in Washington advised agents to release him, however, noting that the federal warrant had been pulled back the previous day.

The law-enforcement actions generated an extensive paper trail, including a thick case file, an arrest warrant signed by a federal judge and INS incident logs, which have been unearthed by investigative reporters since the Sept. 11Commission finished its work. Neither Sept. 11 commissioners nor members of Congress saw the documents, despite requesting all such documents and interviewing FBI case agents involved in the Awlaki probe who knew of the documents.

"Why was this information withheld?" Wolf asked FBI Director Robert Mueller in a recent letter. "Why has Congress not been fully briefed on the events of October 2002?"

In addition, "I am troubled that the Sept. 11 Commission did not have access to many of the documents with regard to this incident," he wrote.

Grover Norquist: Bush Tax Cut Expiration Will Cost Taxpayers $1 Trillion

Low-tax crusader and Republican strategist Grover Norquist tells Newsmax that letting the Bush tax cuts expire in January 2011 would amount to a $1 trillion tax increase — the largest boost in American history.

Norquist — president of Americans for Tax Reform — also warns that President Barack Obama and the Democrats are intent on pursuing the “very bad idea” of imposing a European-style value-added tax.

And he says the tea party movement arose when millions of Americans became “scared straight” by huge increases in federal spending and debt.

Americans for Tax Reform is a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals, and businesses opposed to higher taxes at the federal, state, and local levels.

Allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire at the end of this year, as the Democrats plan, will in fact result in “about a trillion-dollar tax increase on the American people over the next decade,” Norquist says.

“It would be the largest tax increase in American history, and it would take every marginal tax rate and increase it. The taxes on businesses, on capital gains, would be very high.

Asked about proposals for a national sales tax known as a value-added tax, or VAT, Norquist tells Newsmax:

“A VAT is a very bad idea. It is true that it is what the Democrats plan to do. It is Obama’s goal.

“Obama and the Democrats have been moving the United States toward the European social welfare model. That has a VAT, on average in Europe, of 20 percent.

“If we were to adopt a value-added tax as Europe has, your salary would be worth 20 percent less because you could buy less with it. Your life savings would be worth 20 percent less. Your pension would be worth 20 percent less, because anything you bought would have a 20 percent value-added tax attached to it.

“It would be very bad for the American economy.”

Demand For Re-Vote On Obamacare Surges

Support for a move in the U.S. House to hold a re-vote on "Obamacare," the president's law nationalizing health-care decisions, has surged, with 16 new supporters signing on in the few days since WND first reported on the plan by U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

WND reported last week on the measure that holds the possibility of a new vote, even if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a longtime advocate of a nationalized health-care system, doesn't want it.

At that point, the discharge petition had the support of 109 members of the House, exactly half the minimum it would need to advance.

Its target is the $940 billion, or greater, bill adopted by the Democrat-controlled Congress in March. As of today, as the measure closes in on being a month old, another 16 signatures have been added, giving the effort the support of 125 members of the House.

The new names in support are:

1. Timothy V. Johnson, Illinois
2. Michael T. McCaul, Texas
3. Thaddeus G. McCotter, Michigan
4. Robert J. Wittman, Virginia
5. Lamar Smith, Texas
6. Cynthia M. Lummis, Wyoming
7. Wally Herger, California
8. Vern Buchanan, Florida
9. Christopher H. Smith, New Jersey
10. Geoff Davis, Kentucky
11. Jack Kingston, Georgia
12. Brian P. Bilbray, California
13. Zach Wamp, Tennessee
14. Jerry Lewis, California
15. Erik Paulsen, Minnesota
16. Roy Blunt, Missouri

Advocates say constituents need to call their representatives to tell them to get on board right away so that the petition is positioned to move forward whether or not the GOP becomes the majority in the House after the 2010 fall elections.

Crime Solvers Offers Up To A $5,000.00 REWARD For Recent Vandalism

SALISBURY -- Trinity Sterile is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the vandalism of its building over the weekend on Industrial Parkway.

An estimated $20,000 in property was damaged after vandals took sledgehammers to the walls, set off all of the fire extinguishers, broke glass in the downstairs labs and left beer cans throughout the property, including on the roof, said Michael Viner, special projects manager at Trinity Sterile.

"I know whoever did it has a heck of a hangover today," Viner said.

The building is undergoing renovations, including a new roof, and was scheduled to be opened in six to eight months as part of the company's expansion. However, Viner now expects the date will have to be pushed back.

Trinity Sterile has 110 employees and produces custom sterile procedure trays for medical personnel.

The building does not have security cameras installed, so the exact number of vandals or how they entered the building is unknown, Viner said.

"They entered one of three ways," he said. "They broke the window in the back and pushed the emergency bar to get in, jimmied the door or there is an employee from the former company who still has a key."

He went on to say someone knew exactly how to disconnect the fire alarm box.

Anyone with information is asked to call Trinity Sterile at 410-860-5123 and ask for the vandalism tip coordinator, or call the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165.

OCPD REMINDS CITIZENS OF LASER POINTER LAWS

During the month of July 2010, the Ocean City Police Department has experienced an
increase in the number of complaints regarding laser pointers. The OCPD is reminding citizens while it is legal to buy, sell and possess commercial laser pointers, it is illegal for any person to point or shine a laser pointer on another person.

Maryland State law restricts individuals from knowingly using a laser pointer to illuminate another in a public place in a matter that harasses or endangers another.

The Ocean City Police Department is continuing to enforce laser pointer violations. If an individual is found to be using a laser pointer in a harassing manner they are potentially subject to a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment for up to 30 days or both.

The Ocean City Police Department warns citizens of the dangers that can accompany laser pointers. Hazards are most likely to affect the eye, including flash blindness, damage to the retina and an after image or glare. The Ocean City Police Department reminds citizens laser pointers are not toys and should be used with adequate care and supervision.

Jiffy Lube Experience

Hey Joe I just wanted to tell you about a good experience at a local business I just had (I know usually people send the not so good. :))

I had to get the oil changed and decided to stop at Jiffy Lube on the south side of Salisbury. I had never been there and thought I'd give it a shot since everyone else's wait time around the area was 50 min. or more. I had 2 cars ahead of me. They were done in less than 15 min. I only waited about 25 min. and I know they would have been faster if they hand't had to replace a side light that was out. In all, they had cleaned my front windshield, vacuumed my floors, changed the oil and a light all in that short time! And the short time was appreciated because I have 2 small kids that get restless after about 5 min. :)

The service from ALL employees was so friendly I thought I'd entered another world. Not one person seemed as though they were wishing they were somewhere else and the one who gives you your report card on the car told you what was wrong and wasn't pushy at all about things needing to be done. And they did have a great rewards program where your 3rd oil change is half off. I will definitely be coming back for the next oil change and bringing our other vehicle. Not very often you can say you enjoy getting your car serviced!

Keep up the great work!

Wicomico School System Hosts 3rd Annual School Readiness Fair Friday, July 16

Families with children ages 0-5 can learn more about early childhood education and expectations July 16 at the 3rd Annual School Readiness Fair, put on by the Wicomico County Public Schools.

The School Readiness Fair, a cooperative effort by the Wicomico County Board of Education and the Judy Center Partnership, will take place from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Pemberton Elementary. This free event for young children and their families will showcase the many aspects of early childhood education and services available in the community, and will help parents and guardians ensure that their child is ready to get a good start on school.

"You can't wait anymore for children to enter prekindergarten or kindergarten to begin the schooling process. Preparation for school and life must begin early, and parents and other caregivers have to help children to have all the information they need to ensure a successful beginning," said Sandra Drummond, supervisor of early childhood programs.

Children will have the opportunity to meet Buster the School Bus, who will guide them through the basics of school bus safety. They'll also get to board a school bus and talk with the driver. Inside the School Readiness Fair, they'll be able to meet principals and assistant principals from Wicomico elementary schools, and pick up free learning materials to take home.

Parents will be able to visit tables with information on child care centers, child care providers, the Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center, Head Start, the Judy Center (serving children in the Beaver Run and Pemberton school districts), Wicomico County Library and the Wicomico County Health Department, which will have information on programs and immunizations.

Families who have not registered for prekindergarten or kindergarten will have the chance to do so. Door prizes, dinner, crafts will also be provided. Participants in this year's fair will be treated to a performance by the school system's band, the Edge-ucators, featuring Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Fredericksen and other school system employees.

Community agencies that would like to participate in the event should contact Sandra Drummond to register at 410-677-4580. To ensure that materials are in adequate supply, families wishing to attend the event should also contact Drummond at this number to sign up.

Spending And Rationing

Friends,

The arrogance of the one-party rule in Washington never ceases to astound me. Two recent examples of the arrogance of the party in control:

We found out in the last week that on June 30, 2010 the national debt increased by $166 BILLION in a single day. That is one of the largest single day increases ever. I took Senator Mikulski to task for her reckless spending. You can see the press release I sent out here. Since she took office as a Congresswoman in 1977, the national debt has increased from $670 Billion to $13 Trillion. The shear size of this debt is unfathomable. We are getting to the point where our nation is not just forcing our children to pay our bills, we are forcing our grandchildren and maybe our great grandchildren to pay. Our nation is taking away our children's future economic prosperity Senator Mikulski has shown zero leadership on stopping the drastic increase in the national debt.

The mind-blowing increase in the national debt is not the only sign of the arrogance of one-party rule. While most of us were celebrating Independence Day, President Obama was bypassing the proper appointment process that provides accountability and appointed Dr. Berwick to office using a recess appointment. I criticized this appointment in a press release you can view here.

Why did President Obama bypass the proper appointment process? He didn't want Dr. Berwick's views to come to light. You see in a 2009 interview Dr. Berwick said, "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care - the decision is whether we will ration care with our eyes open." The truth is that Obamacare will put the government in the middle of doctor-patient decision-making. With Dr. Berwick's appointment to the CMS, it is clear Obama plans to pay for Obamacare's $500 Billion cut to Medicare by rationing care.

This campaign is about the future of our nation. We cannot continue on the current path. We need accountability in government. Senator Mikulski has shown no leadership. She is a stooge to whatever Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid want. We need accountability in government. We can't keep increasing the national debt and we can't allow our healthcare to be rationed.
