If A Dog Was The Teacher

Nice way to think of things.. especially when the time comes for our pets...
A guide for life.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker.  The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer.

I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

Pennsylvania Dems Take Obama's Advice, Defend Obamacare

Unlike many in their party across the country, Democrats in Pennsylvania vying for governor are embracing Obamacare, Politico reports.

U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz has perhaps taken the boldest stand in favor of the law, according to Politico, touting her work to get it passed and slamming incumbent Republican Gov. Tom Corbett for refusing to accept federal Medicaid expansion. She's also attacked fellow primary contender Tom Wolf, a wealthy businessman she has been trailing in the polls.

Wolf responded by tweeting a link to an op-ed he wrote about healthcare, as well as other messages of support for the law, while former state environmental protection director Katie McGinty's campaign accused Schwartz of having actually worked to "weaken" the law, making Schwartz's latest position "mind-boggling." Wolf characterized Schwartz as a "frenemy" of Obamacare.

Woman charged with taking toy from child's grave

Police in northern Ohio have charged a woman who was seen on a surveillance video taking a stuffed animal from a child's grave.

Ontario police say 54-year-old Frieda Kay Shade turned herself in Wednesday after the cemetery surveillance video was widely viewed on the Internet and TV news.

Shade told authorities that she took a stuffed toy duck from the grave of 14-month-old Hayden 'Tank' Cole Sheridan on Saturday because a dog was running loose in the area, and she didn't want it to destroy the toy.

What Consent of the Governed?

Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Likely U.S. Voters now fear the federal government, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Forty-seven percent (47%) do not, but another 17% are not sure.

Perhaps in part that’s because 54% consider the federal government today a threat to individual liberty rather than a protector. Just 22% see the government as a protector of individual rights, and that’s down from 30% last November. Slightly more (24%) are now undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

As recently as December 2012, voters were evenly divided on this question: 45% said the federal government was a protector of individual rights, while 46% described it as a threat to those rights.

Divers discover horror of conditions onboard sunken South Korean ferry

The bodies of 48 young girls wearing lifejackets have been discovered in a single cabin of the doomed South Korean ferry, as government officials were forced to admit they sent the wrong bodies home to several grieving families.

As frustrated relatives of those missing on the Sewol ferry vented their anger at the pace of the search efforts, rescuers said the bodies of the 48 girls had been discovered in a cabin with a capacity of 30.

In a further blow to shattered families, the South Korean government has also been forced to admit that it in some cases bodies of the victims were 'wrongly transferred.'

Bodies will now be identified through DNA and finger-print testing to ensure the correct victims are sent home for burial.

The bungle heightened public outrage even further, as families wait to confirm the loss of up to 300 mainly young lives in the disaster.

Catherine Engelbrecht Gives A Heart Wrenching Testimony

Emails show CNN producers worked to make Rahm Emanuel a star

Chicago is no stranger to corruption so perhaps it's unsurprising that recently released emails show how CNN worked with city officials to portray Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a positive light for 'unscripted' documentary series 'Chicagoland'.

The Chicago Tribune obtained more than 700 emails that reveal how the CNN production team filming the eight-hour series worked with the mayor's office to develop storylines - getting their input on details like camera angles and the wording of press releases for the show.

The emails are made all the more inflammatory by the fact that Emmanuel is currently running for re-election in 2015, and the documentary appears to be reinforcing his campaign.

Pentagon To Destroy $1 Billion Worth Of Ammo. This Makes Sense Because…?

Why is the Pentagon to destroy ammunition for our men and women in uniform while the Department of Homeland Security is buying up millions of rounds of ammunition? As we asked last week, why are we decimating our military while many government agencies are arming up?

You really have to wonder why, according to USA Today, “The Pentagon plans to destroy more than $1 billion worth of ammunition although some of those bullets and missiles could still be used by troops, according to the Pentagon and congressional sources. It’s impossible to know what portion of the arsenal slated for destruction — valued at $1.2 billion by the Pentagon — remains viable because the Defense Department’s inventory systems can’t share data effectively, according to a Government Accountability Office report obtained by USA TODAY. The result: potential waste of unknown value.”

Study: State tax giveaways to big business don't really bring jobs

OSAWATOMIE, Kan. — By the time theMcQueeny Group signed up for tax breaks through Kansas’ primary economic development engine, vice president Rod Slump said the business was already looking to make a move.

Tax breaks provided through Promoting Employment Across Kansas were just icing on the cake.

Like numerous other firms who have relocated to Kansas to take advantage of PEAK benefits, Overland Park-based McQueeny Group has been handed thousands in tax breaks for creating new jobs — more than $160,000 since 2011, according to the Kansas Department of Commerce.

Organizers behind Everytown for Gun Safety, the new advocacy group backed by former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, say one of their top priorities is to turn guns into a women’s issue, akin to abortion or health care, and mobilize mothers ahead of the midterm elections in November.

Women at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting this weekend said, “Bring it on!”

“It shouldn’t be an issue and you should be able to just have your Second Amendment and be able to live your life,” said Linda Elliott, 25, a spokeswoman for 1 Million Moms Against Gun Control.

In Landmark Ruling, Jury Says Fracking Company Must Pay $3 Million to Sickened Family

A Texas family claiming they were sickened because of pollution from hydraulic fracturing operations near their home should be awarded $2.95 million for their troubles, a jury ruled on Tuesday.

The Parr family had sued Aruba Petroleum Inc. in 2011, alleging the oil and gas producer exposed them to hazardous gases, chemicals and industrial waste that seeped into the air from 22 wells drilled near the family’s 40-acre plot of land, which sits atop the Barnett Shale.

The jury returned a 5-1 verdict saying Aruba “intentionally created a private nuisance,” awarding $275,000 for losses on property value, $2 million for past physical pain and suffering, $250,000 for future physical pain and suffering, and $400,000 for mental anguish.

“They’re vindicated,” David Matthews, one of the Parr’s attorneys, wrote on his firm’s blog Tuesday. “I’m really proud of the family that went through what they went through … It’s not easy to go through a lawsuit and have your personal life uncovered and exposed to the extent this family went through.”

A statement provided to ThinkProgress from Aruba on Wednesday lamented the jury’s verdict, but did not indicate whether it would appeal.

Pediatrician Arrested for Sex Offenses and Child Abuse – Possibility of Additional Victims a Concern

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Family Crimes Division have arrested and charged Leslie Boyd Altstatt, age 83, of the 10600 block of Lombardy Road in Silver Spring, with numerous sexual offenses/acts and child abuse. The abuse occurred between the years of 1964 and 1996 and the three female victims were related to Altstatt.

In late February of 2014, the three female victims notified Montgomery County Police of sexual abuse that had occurred when they were younger. Investigation has revealed that Altstatt committed sexual offenses and acts against the three victims between the years of 1964 and 1996. One victim reported that her abuse occurred between the ages of six to fifteen and that she was abused hundreds of times.

On April 25, Altstatt was arrested by Family Crimes detectives on the strength of arrest warrants and transported to the Central Processing Unit. Since that time, he has been released on bond. Altstatt has been charged with with five counts of committing a third degree sex offense, child abuse, and six counts of committing an unnatural and perverted sex practice.

Leslie Altstatt was employed as a pediatrician and researcher at the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center located at 6900 Georgia Avenue N.W. Washington, D.C., from the mid-1960s until the early 1980s. Because of Altstatt’s position as a pediatrician and his access to children, detectives are concerned that there may be additional victims of Altstatt. Anyone who feels that he/she was victimized by Altstatt is asked to contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.

Detectives Locate, Charge Wal-Mart Peeping Tom; Suspect A Truck Driver Arrested In Del.

BERLIN — Surveillance video and some good detective work last week led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man wanted in connection with a Peeping Tom incident at the Wal-Mart in Berlin in early April.

Around 9:30 a.m. on April 3, the Maryland State Police received a call from Wal-Mart Security advising a white male had entered the ladies’ room and used a cell phone to take photographs or video of a victim who was using the restroom. While the victim was using the restroom, she observed a cell phone suddenly appear under the stall door and immediately confronted the suspect.

The suspect, described as a white male, roughly 35-40 years old and about 275-300 pounds, exited the restrooms and the Wal-Mart store and began running toward the Home Depot store adjacent to the Wal-Mart. The victim and Wal-Mart employees continued to follow the suspect until they lost sight of him.

SAFE STREETS OFFENDER SENTENCED TO FOURTEEN YEARS IN PRISON

On April 28, 2014, Safe Streets Offender Kevin Rashaan Horsey, Sr., age 22, of Salisbury, Maryland, was sentenced on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine. Horsey had pleaded guilty to this offense on February 12, 2014. Horsey’s sentencing was deferred until this morning, April 28th. At his sentencing hearing, a Wicomico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Horsey to a total of fourteen years of active incarceration in the Maryland Division of Corrections. Horsey was also ordered to forfeit a total of $1,442 of suspected drug proceeds which had been seized during his arrest. This sentence was ordered to run consecutively to several other sentences which Horsey is currently serving for drug offenses and a violation of probation.

When investigators located and apprehended Horsey, he was found to be carrying the $1,442 and approximately 57 grams of cocaine on his person.

Judas Goat Glenn Beck Colludes With CIA and CFR to Take Down Patriot Movement

The pedigree of Beck’s circle reveals he is not a libertarian and does not believe in the Constitution

Glenn Beck, who fancies himself a libertarian, is working with corporate media insiders and a former CIA employee who flaunts his membership in the globalist Council on Foreign Relations. The objective of this group at the very heart of Beck’s operation, now readily apparent following the Cliven Bundy standoff, is to portray the Nevada rancher as a racist zealot, a member of a dangerous and outlaw sovereign citizen movement, and inseparable from violent and conspiracy crazed “militia” domestic terrorists. Beck’s campaign mirrors that of the Obama administration, Eric Holder’s Justice Department and the liberal media intelligentsia.

25M Middle Class Americans Live Hand-to-Mouth

If asked to describe the typical American who lives paycheck-to-paycheck, you might conjure up the image of a minimum-wage worker struggling to make rent each month.

But a new study out of the Brookings Institution finds that two-thirds of U.S. households living "hand-to-mouth" are actually middle class, with homes and retirement assets. Only about one-third of those just getting by financially are what most would consider poor, with median incomes of about $20,000.

Overall, about 38 million American families live hand-to-mouth, or about one-third of all U.S. households.

So why do families with decent incomes and assets have to live "hand-to-mouth," spending all their cash with each paycheck? The reason may be that such middle-class consumers are opting to put money into illiquid investments with better rates of return than a savings account, such as real estate or a retirement portfolio, Greg Kaplan, assistant professor of economics at Princeton University, told CBS MoneyWatch.

"This behavior might look on the face to be kind of crazy, but in some of our other work we show it looks like a very sensible thing to do, given the incentives to invest in retirement accounts and real estate," he said.

Those incentives include tax-deferred contributions to retirement accounts and the home mortgage interest deduction.

Rascovar Column: Is Anthony Brown An ‘Empty Suit’?

Let’s get this out of the way up front: The answer to the headlined question is “no.” Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown didn’t graduate cum laude from Harvard and later from Harvard Law without having substantial intellectual chops.

Yet that inelegant question – does Brown have what it takes to be governor? – could become a defining issue as Maryland’s aimless gubernatorial campaign enters the stage where voters start paying attention.

Attorney General Doug Gansler keeps fumbling the rhetorical ball whenever he tries to raise the subject of Brown’s readiness to run the state of Maryland. He must be onto something, though. because the Brown camp is ultra-sensitive to charges of “empty suit-ism.”

CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS KILL BILL TO BAN FELONS FROM WORKING ON OBAMACARE EXCHANGE

In a near party-line vote, California state Democratic legislators killed a bill on Tuesday that would have banned the state's Obamacare exchange from hiring felons convicted of financial crimes.

Critics of the bill said the legislation was overly restrictive and could be "discriminatory under federal civil rights law," reports the Los Angeles Times.

The bill's backer, Assemblywoman Connie Conway (R-Tulare), said she simply intended to help protect California Obamacare customers' sensitive information from financial crimes.

"I believe in second chances but not giving those convicted of forgery or fraud access to people's Social Security numbers or tax returns," said Conway. "Today's vote by the majority party means that consumers who sign up for a plan through Covered California will still be at risk of having their private information compromised by those who have committed financial crimes."

CHILD RAPIST RAPED, Stitched By Medics, and RE-RAPED BY 20 PRISONERS

Daryell was raped by about 20 prisoners. He had injuries all over the body, the most serious ones in the anal region. Insatisfied, and still furious about the crime committed by the professor, the prisoners tore apart the stitches that he received and raped him again. The blood stains on the rear of the short of the young man are proof of how much he suffered.

12 Numbers Which Prove That Americans Are Sick And Tired Of Politics As Usual

The American people are increasingly waking up to the fact that nothing ever seems to change in Washington D.C. no matter which political party is in power. In fact, as you will see later on in this article, an all-time high 53 percent of all Americans believe that neither party “represents the American people”. Over the past several decades, we have sent a Bush, a Clinton, another Bush and an Obama to the White House, but the policies coming out of Washington have remained pretty much the same the entire time. The mainstream media would have us believe that the Republicans and the Democrats are constantly fighting like cats and dogs, but the truth is that the Republicans want to take us to the same place that the Democrats want to take us – just a little more slowly perhaps. And behind the scenes, Republicans and Democrats have a good time with one another and they are ultimately controlled by the same set of oligarchs. The Americans people are really starting to recognize what a sham our system has become, and the numbers show that they are quite fed up with it.

I truly wish that things were different. When I was much younger, I was actively involved in politics and I enthusiastically campaigned for certain candidates. But then when they got to Washington D.C., they never did most of the things that they promised to do during their campaigns.

I was quite bewildered by this. At the time, I concluded that we just needed to send even more “good politicians” to D.C. and then things would finally turn around.

But things never did turn around. No matter which party had the upper hand, the same garbage continued to spew forth from Washington.

No. 2 Sea Gulls Top Frostburg in CAC Semifinals

SALISBURY, Md., April 26 – The No. 2 Salisbury lacrosse team punched its ticket for a chance to bring home its 18th CAC championship with a win in Saturday's CAC semifinal game, 12-6, over Frostburg State at Sea Gull Stadium.

Junior attackman Mike Kane led the Sea Gulls with five goals, while senior attackman Rhett DePol chipped in with four points (two goals and two assists).

SU (17-1) opened the scoring halfway through the first quarter; junior midfielder Thomas Cirillo drove right and planted a low shot in the cage at the 7:52 mark.

Just before the end of the first, Kane put away his first, taking a pass from DePol and scoring on the crease.

He added his second on an assist from junior midfielder Adam Stork to start the second quarter, before Frostburg (13-5) would score its first, as Salisbury held a 3-1 lead.

After DePol netted his first, the Bobcats put another shot in the cage to end the half, as Salisbury took a 4-2 lead into halftime; the Gulls led in shots, 22-13, faceoffs, 6 of 8, and ground balls, 18-11.

Salisbury opened the second half on a 3-1 run, with senior midfielder Donovan Lange driving right and scoring on a low shot to open the third quarter.

After Frostburg added a score at the 11:26 mark, DePol added his second just over one minute later, before senior attack Luke Phipps took a pass from DePol and scored on the crease just 12 seconds later, pushing Salisbury's lead to 7-3.

The Bobcats ended the quarter on a 3-1 run to cut SU's lead to 8-6 heading into the final quarter; Chris Rios, the FSU leader with three goals, scored all three during the stretch.

Kane took over in the fourth to secure the win for Salisbury, scoring three goals. At the 11:32 mark, he picked up a ground ball off a save and put the ball back in the cage, and less than a minute later, senior midfielder Greg Korvin found him on the crease for another score.

Phipps found the cage for his second, before Kane capped the five-goal game with his final score with 43 seconds left.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Taylor earned the win, making 10 saves in the game.

Salisbury will host the CAC championship game on Saturday, May 3, welcoming the winner of the other conference semifinal game between York College of Pennsylvania and University of Mary Washington; the game time is to be determined.

A Pelosi-Sarbanes Dud

Federal law prevents coordination between candidate committees and Super PACs. Luckily for Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and John Sarbanes (D-MD), co-sponsors of a new campaign finance bill (H.R. 20), the same does not hold true for public-relation blitzes. The legislators and their allies are directing an organized messaging campaign to convince the public of the need for this law.

H.R. 20 dovetails with the perpetual umbrage directed at the Supreme Court for its Citizens United v. FEC decision. The case’s anniversary is now habitually synchronized with legislative “solutions” to the “problem” of greater and more varied voices in the political marketplace. Whether under the guise of “transparency,” “shareholder protection,” or “citizen empowerment,” those that know best assure us they are at the ready with a government fix to our supposedly helplessly corrupt system of funding campaigns and political advocacy.

The bill would create an essentially publicly funded campaign system. Key components include a tax credit and public money multipliers for small donations. A third component, described in an op-ed published by the co-sponsors, is particularly misleading:

Provide candidates with an opportunity to earn additional resources in the homestretch of a campaign so that the voices of the people are not completely drowned out by super political action committees and other dark-money interests. In the wake of Citizens United, this kind of support is critical to ensuring that citizen-backed candidates have staying power.

One State Had More People Lose Health Insurance Than Sign Up For Obamacare

The Affordable Care Act was created to help those without insurance get the coverage that they need. Could it be, though, that it has actually created more people without insurance?

In the state of Maryland, 60,000 people signed up for Obamacare, while 73,000 lost their current coverage because their insurance companies have shut down due to the government takeover. The state now has less of it’s members covered by insurance than it did before the Affordable Care Act came into being.

Did this government act cause more problems than solutions? This certainly wouldn’t have been the plan of those who created it, but it just may be the case, especially in states like Maryland.

More people in the state of Maryland now have to find their own new insurance and pay for it’s cost, than did before the government takeover. Is this a price worth paying in order to put Obamacare into effect?

Psychiatrists now say non-conformity is a mental illness: only the sheeple are ‘sane’

Modern psychiatry has become a hotbed of corruption, particularly the kind that seeks to demonize and declare mentally ill anyone who deviates from what is regarded as the norm. This is abundantly evident in the latest installment of the industry’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, which dubs people who do not conform to what those in charge declare to be normal as mentally insane.

The so-called “condition” for why a person might choose to resist conformity has been labeled by the psychiatric profession as “oppositional defiant disorder,” or ODD. The new DSM defines this made-up disease as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” and also lumps it in alongside attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, another made-up condition whose creator, Dr. Leon Eisenberg, admitted it to be phony on his death bed.

As you might suspect from this type of open-ended description, almost any personal behavior perceived by someone else to be undesirable or strange might be categorized as symptomatic of ODD. Children who throw temper tantrums or fight with their siblings, for instance, might be declared to have this supposed mental illness, as might children who express disagreement with their parents or teachers.

Press Tries to Discredit Conservatives With Cliven Bundy, Ignores Large Dem Donor Convicted of Brutal Domestic Abuse

The press and the left are trying to pretend that Cliven Bundy, the Republican Party, and conservatism are all one and the same, despite no evidence of that being the case, because of intemperate things Mr. Bundy has said. Meanwhile, there is deafening silence over the very real actions of Gurbaksh Chahal, a significant Democratic Party donor who has expressed solidarity with liberalism and the Democratic Party with his mouth and his wallet.

Bundy has made arguably racist remarks. Chahal, who has donated over $108,000 to the Democratic Party and Democrat politicians — including President Barack Obama — during the past several years, has been "filmed hitting and kicking his girlfriend 117 times in (a) brutal 30-minute attack," but was somehow "sentenced to just 25 hours community service," largely because the judge involved "ruled the video inadmissible as the San Francisco Police Department had obtained it without a warrant" (for real-world purposes, note that he didn't describe it as inauthentic). Let's demonstrate the double standard by looking at the results of two searches done shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday.

New Law Bans Surgery That Silences Dogs, Cats

Pet owners may cherish their furry companions, but not their incessant bark or shrill meow. In some cases, owners actually seek to have their cat or dog’s vocal cords surgically removed.

Gov. Martin O’Malley gave his signature to unsung legislation that outlaws this practice, one that the bill’s advocates said is inhumane and often frustrating for the animal.

Licensed veterinarians may still operate on a pet’s vocal cords to alleviate pain from an illness.

Paralyzing or a removing a pet’s vocal cords is often authorized by pet owners who struggle with training a noisy dog or cat, according to Jen Swanson, executive director for the Baltimore Humane Society.

Cops Who Were Caught on Video Robbing and Terrorizing Store Owners Will Not Face Charges

A sickening injustice happened this week in Philadelphia. Several Cops who were even caught on video terrorizing 22 Philly bodega owners will not be facing any criminal charges.

A Philadelphia plainclothes narcotics squad had barreled into the immigrants’ bodegas, guns drawn. They had cut the wires on the stores’ video surveillance systems, robbed thousands of dollars from the cash drawers, stolen food and merchandise and then trashed the shops on their way out the door.

“The only way a cop can lose his job in this city is if he shoots another cop during roll call.”

Video from one of the heists can be seen below. One of these scumbags starts barraging the store owner, asking him if it was uploading to his computer at his house. Then he cuts the wires!

Unedited Tape of Bundy Emerges, Sheds Light on 'Racist' Remarks

A new, unedited version of comments by Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has emerged, and it sheds some light on the context of his remarks, universally condemned on Thursday as horrifically racist.

The 67-year-old Bundy, battling the U.S. government after federal agents stormed his ranch to confiscate his cattle in a dispute over grazing fees, said far more than what appeared in the New York Times and most other news accounts. While his grammar is pretty bad -- and his use of "negro" and "colored" considered politically incorrect (although they were both once preferred terms chosen by blacks) -- he actually was making a larger point, not simply deriding blacks.

In a YouTube video, he is filmed already in mid-sentence.

Another Letter to the Editor: Sex Offenders Walking Amongst Us

Joe,

I have never left a comment on your website before but feel compelled to do so now. A very similar situation happened to my family. The neighbor behind us allowed his 40 year old male cousin to move in with him. He seemed like a nice man at first. He came into my yard a couple of days after he moved in, (4 days before the first Easter after Sarah Foxwell's death) to say hello. At that time my very large, black, German Shepherd actually jumped the fence and went after him. I was shocked and was able to retrieve the dog before he bit the him. My dog had NEVER done that before and has NEVER since. Very out of character for our dog! The next day I happen to check the sex offender registry. I made a habit of checking it every few months to see if anyone registered had moved into the area. To my shock and horror my neighbors cousin, the man my dog went after, was on the list as now living full time at my neighbors house! He had served a lengthy amount of time in North Carolina for raping an 11 year old child. I had already observed him sitting in his lawn chair in his back yard and watching my 3 children play in my yard. I was sick!

Two days later, on the Saturday before Easter I looked into my neighbors yard to see several small children, at least 10 of them, playing in my neighbors yard with the sex offender playing right along with them! The children were having an Easter Egg Hunt. I called the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and asked the Duty Officer, " Is a guy who rapes little children allowed to have little children in his yard? Is he on any type of restriction or conditions as part of his release from jail?" The Duty Officer said that he would look into it, run the guys information and then call me back. Several hours later the Duty Officer called back and said , " We don't know if he is on any restriction or conditions because we don't have access to Parole and Probations computers on the weekend." I was stunned! How does law enforcement not have access to their computers? I asked to be transferred to Sheriff Lewis' voice mail and requested a call back.

When Sheriff Lewis called back the next day, I explained the situation and asked why Law Enforcement doesn't have access to those computers on the weekend? He stated that he didn't know and seemed genuinely upset over this discovered loophole in the system. I stated, "So what you mean to tell me is that if Thomas Leggs had been pulled over by a police officer the night Sarah had been kidnapped and lets say it was not reported that Sarah was in fact missing yet, there is no way to find out that Leggs should NOT have been in contact with any minor children, you would have to let him drive off with her? " Sheriff Lewis said yes. I couldn't even believe that this was occurring in this day and age!

Sheriff Lewis went on to say that the man now living behind me was no longer on any type of parole, restriction, probation or supervision. There was NOTHING the law could do to stop this man from having children in or around his person. NOTHING! Sheriff Lewis stated that he was due to speak at the State House in Annapolis the next day and had promised to bring the matter of the discovered loop hole up to the legislature. I never heard back from him to see if he followed up.

Montanans, Alaskans Say States Among Top Places to Live

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- When asked to rate their state as a place to live, three in four Montanans (77%) and Alaskans (77%) say their state is the best or one of the best places to live. Residents of Rhode Island (18%) and Illinois (19%) are the least likely to praise their states.
Residents of Western and Midwestern states are generally more positive about their states as places to live. With the exception of the New England states of New Hampshire and Vermont, all of the top 10 rated states are west of the Mississippi River. In addition to Montana and Alaska, Utah (70%), Wyoming (69%), and Colorado (65%) are among the 10 states that residents are most likely to say their state is among the best places to reside. Most of these states have relatively low populations, including Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, and Alaska -- the four states with the smallest populations in the nation. Texas, the second most populated state, is the major exception to this population relationship. Although it is difficult to discern what the causal relationship is between terrain and climate and positive attitudes, many of the top 10 states are mountainous with cold winters. In fact, the two states most highly rated by their residents -- Montana and Alaska -- are among not only the nation's coldest states but also both border Canada.

FORMER NASA SCIENTIST: GLOBAL WARMING IS NONSENSE

A former NASA scientist has described global warming as "nonsense", dismissing the theory of man-made climate change as "an unsubstantiated hypothesis" and saying that it is "absolutely stupid" to blame the recent UK floods on human activity.

Professor Les Woodcock, who has had a long and distinguished academic career, also said there is "no reproducible evidence" that carbon dioxide levels have increased over the past century, and blamed the green movement for inflicting economic damage on ordinary people.

Professor Woodcock is Emeritus Professor of Chemical Thermodynamics at the University of Manchester and has authored over 70 academic papers for a wide range of scientific journals. He received his PhD from the University of London, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a recipient of a Max Planck Society Visiting Fellowship, and a founding editor the journal Molecular Simulation.
