YouTube Gets Ready for - Pay to Remove Ads

YouTube is moving ahead with an option that would give its viewers a chance to skip ads -- for a fee.

Currently, most YouTube videos include brief commercials that play at the beginning of a selection, while some ads are also embedded throughout.

The online video service Wednesday notified by letter many of its biggest content creators of this pending ad-free subscription option, asking them to sign off on new contract terms.

YouTube said its subscription service would give content creators an "untapped, additional source of revenue," TechCrunch reported.

"With the subscription model in place, YouTube would begin to resemble something that's more like Netflix -- a place where consumers pay for access to content that can be streamed on-demand, uninterrupted," TechCrunch wrote.

The letter did not say how much YouTube planned to charge for its ad-free version or say when this service would be available. Bloomberg.com said the subscription service could be launched late this year.

Teacher Suspended for Having 3rd-Graders Write 'Get Well' Letters to Cop Killer

A New Jersey teacher has been suspended after she had her third-grade students write “get well” letters to convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Abu-Jamal, who was convicted in the 1981 shooting death of Philadelphia officer Daniel Faulkner, recently fell ill while in prison.

Orange Public Schools officials “vehemently deny” that they knew Marylin Zuniga asked her students to write these letters.

Feds Consider Puerto Ricans Disabled Because They Speak Spanish

95 percent of Puerto Ricans speak Spanish

The Social Security Administration (SSA) approved disability benefits for hundreds of Puerto Ricans because they do not speak English, despite the fact that Puerto Rico is a predominantly Spanish-speaking territory.

According to a new audit by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the agency is misapplying rules that are intended to provide financial assistance to individuals who are illiterate or cannot speak English in the United States. Under the rules, Puerto Ricans are allowed to receive disability benefits for their inability to speak English as well.

“We found the Agency did not make exceptions regarding the English-language grid rules for claimants who reside in Puerto Rico, even though Spanish is the predominant language spoken in the local economy,” the OIG said.

The audit said a person applying for disability in Puerto Rico who cannot speak English “may increase his/her likelihood of receiving disability benefits.”

The agency does not currently have a system in place to keep track of the number of beneficiaries who receive disability insurance for not being able to speak English.

And her cellphone camera was rolling.

After four separate requests to speak to a manager, the customer finally got an employee’s attention. She then asked for a refund.

“Baby, you’re about to get it,” the employee was heard saying. “Just wait. You’re gonna get your s**t.”

Investigation Ordered After Calif. Sheriff Says He Is ‘Disturbed’ by What He Saw in Chase Video

A California Sheriff said Thursday that he had ordered an immediate investigation after aerial footage showed deputies repeatedly strike a suspect who appeared to have surrendered following a pursuit on horse.

Footage captured by KNBC-TV’s chopper shows the man fall off the horse before San Bernardino County deputies deploy their tasers on him.

The man, identified as 30-year-old Jared Pusok, then appeared to extend his arms signaling surrender when deputies started punching him in the head and striking him in other areas of his body.

There Will Be More Muslims Than Christians In The World By 2070

Islam is said to be the fastest growing religion in the world. It was estimated in 2012 that there were more than 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide.

Christianity, which is the current largest religion in the world, is said to be practiced by more than 2.2 billion people worldwide. It is therefore clear that the two Abrahamic religions will have to share their status as the dominant religion in the world. For now.

A new study by the Pew Research Center (PRC)-a nonpartisan American think tank that provides information on social issues, public opinion, and demographic trends- has said that the number of Muslims will surpass the number of Christians after 2070.

Globally, Muslims are said to have the highest fertility rate of any religious group, an average of 3.1 children per woman. This is well above the replacement level, the minimum level of reproduction required to maintain a population at current numbers, which is 2.1.

Obamacare group slashes staff

The main national organization promoting Obamacare enrollment is cutting 100 jobs amid a major retrenchment as key funders turn to other health care priorities.

It’s the beginning of the end for Enroll America, which was set up by liberal advocates of the Affordable Care Act to run a sophisticated, political-style campaign to persuade Americans to get covered. The group, led by veterans of President Barack Obama’s campaigns and administration, was never intended to last forever, but a precipitous drop in funding forced it to scale back to half of its peak size after only two seasons of Obamacare sign-up. That’s a far more rapid throttling back than its founders anticipated.

The move comes as even some strong advocates of the law have lowered their coverage expectations for the first few years of the law, partly because of the resistance in many GOP-led states. With Enroll America taking a less prominent role, local community groups, health insurers, hospitals and clinics will have to pick up some of the outreach and marketing work.

Berlin Man Faces Weapons Charges After Pulling Out Gun

BERLIN — A Berlin man is being held this week on multiple charges after allegedly running in and out of businesses in the downtown area displaying a handgun and disturbing patrons of various establishments.

Around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Berlin Police responded to the area of Pitts Street for a report of an individual walking around with a handgun. Berlin Police and Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies responded but were not able to immediately locate the individual.

During an interview with the complainant, Berlin Police were able to identify the suspect as Robert Wayne Bassett, 29, of Berlin. Bassett was reported to have been in a downtown business at which time he pulled a handgun from his waistband and displayed it, disturbing several of the patrons at the establishment.

As officers continued to search for Bassett, he was observed running into a different business. Officers surrounded the building in order to approach Bassett, who ran out of the business as officers were about to make entry. Bassett observed the officers and turned around and ran back into the business while drawing a handgun from his waistband.

University Suspends Honor Student For Working With James O’Keefe

Barry University has suspended a student reporter for her participation in a Project Veritas video that featured a university coordinator assisting in the creation of an ISIS club on campus.

The student journalist, identified only as Laura, recorded her efforts trying to launch a “Sympathetic Students in Support of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria,” student group last week.

This morning, she received an emailed notice from Maria Alvarez, the university’s associate vice president and dean of students, stating she had been suspended over allegations that her reporting violated the university’s Code of Conduct.

“In response to complaints filed by members of the University community on Wednesday, April 3, and received by my office this morning, April 6, 2015, your alleged actions were the cause root of disruption of the University community and the creation of a hostile environment for members of the University staff,” the notice read. “Because these alleged actions violate Barry University’s Code of Conduct, effective immediately you are placed on Interim Suspension from Barry University.”

Fort Hood shooting victim denied benefits, despite Purple Heart decision

The Obama administration has finally acknowledged that those hurt and killed in the 2009 Fort Hood shootings were victims of terrorism -- and not “workplace violence,” as it was previously described. But while formal recognition of that is set for Friday, when victims will receive the Purple Heart, it may only be symbolic.

Fox News has learned as part of its ongoing investigation of the 2009 terrorist attack that the military, at least in one case, is still denying benefits for injuries sustained in the attack.

"I think it's almost unheard of for someone to receive the Purple Heart but not have their injuries deemed combat-related," Shawn Manning, who was seriously injured in the 2009 attack, told Fox News. "I know that was not what Congress intended to have happen, but it is what currently the Army has determined is going to happen."

Ultra-fast charging aluminum battery offers safe alternative to conventional batteries

Stanford scientists have invented a flexible, high-performance aluminum battery that charges in about 1 minute. Credit: Mark Shwartz, Precourt Institute for Energy, Stanford University

Stanford University scientists have invented the first high-performance aluminum battery that's fast-charging, long-lasting and inexpensive. Researchers say the new technology offers a safe alternative to many commercial batteries in wide use today.

"We have developed a rechargeable aluminum battery that may replace existing storage devices, such as alkaline batteries, which are bad for the environment, and lithium-ion batteries, which occasionally burst into flames," said Hongjie Dai, a professor of chemistry at Stanford. "Our new battery won't catch fire, even if you drill through it."

Dai and his colleagues describe their novel aluminum-ion battery in "An ultrafast rechargeable aluminum-ion battery," in the April 6 advance online edition of the journal Nature.

Aluminum has long been an attractive material for batteries, mainly because of its low cost, low flammability and high-charge storage capacity. For decades, researchers have tried unsuccessfully to develop a commercially viable aluminum-ion battery. A key challenge has been finding materials capable of producing sufficient voltage after repeated cycles of charging and discharging.

Caught in the Web: Comptroller Franchot Releases Names of Top Tax Evaders

Baltimore, Md. – Comptroller Peter Franchot announced the names of the top 20 businesses and 20 individuals collectively owing $13.3 million in unpaid taxes, penalties and interest to the state of Maryland. Known as the Caught in the Web program, the Comptroller’s Office routinely publishes the list of the top scofflaws on the agency’s website, as a public attempt to get people to pay.

“The Caught in the Web program underscores a small number of Marylanders who make a conscious effort to not pay their taxes,” Comptroller Franchot said. “These are not people simply down on their luck and unable to pay. These are people who have chosen to take advantage of the benefits of this great state — individuals and business owners who knowingly thumb their noses at the vast majority of Maryland taxpayers who fulfill their legal obligations to the state.”

Created to send a message to those who ignore attempts by the state to collect overdue taxes, the program names tax delinquents owing the largest sum in back taxes on the agency’s website for six months, until payment has been received or a payment plan has been initiated.

Plea deal offered NY couple in kidnapping of 2 Amish girls

A couple accused of kidnapping two Amish girls from a produce stand before shackling and sexually abusing them have been offered a plea deal that would spare the girls from testifying.

Stephen Howells, 39, and his 25-year-old girlfriend Nicole Vaisey, from Hermon, New York, were charged last summer with sexually exploiting the Amish girls and other children.

They each face kidnapping and federal child exploitation charges after police say they abducted the girls, then seven and 12, from their family's farm roadside vegetable stand on August 13.

On Tuesday, St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain said that the defendants were advised of the strength of the evidence and offered an agreement to plead guilty in both cases.

US Aerospace Command Moving Gear Back to Cheyenne Mountain

Washington (AFP) - The US military command that scans North America's skies for enemy missiles and aircraft plans to move its communications gear to a Cold War-era mountain bunker, officers said.

The shift to the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado is designed to safeguard the command's sensitive sensors and servers from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, military officers said.

The Pentagon last week announced a $700 million contract with Raytheon Corporation to oversee the work for North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) and US Northern Command.

Admiral William Gortney, head of NORAD and Northern Command, said that "because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain's built, it's EMP-hardened."

The Cheyenne mountain bunker is a cavern carved into a mountain in the 1960s that was designed to withstand a Soviet nuclear attack. From inside the massive complex, airmen were poised to send warnings that could trigger the launch of nuclear missiles.

Regional memo: Hogan forces small dose of budget frugality in Annapolis

Even as rookie Republican Gov. Larry Hogan wrangles with the Maryland legislature over the final shape of his first budget, it’s clear that his arrival in Annapolis has re-framed the debate over spending and taxes.

In less than three months — touting a mandate from the voters who powered his underdog victory — Hogan has forced the long-dominant Democrats to swallow a dose of budget frugality. The focus has shifted from potentially raising taxes to trying to trim them.

The initial impact has been modest, in terms of the amount of money involved. Right now, for instance, Hogan is battling for a tax cut for military retirees that would average less than $100 per veteran per year. He’s in a standoff with Democratic lawmakers over $68 million in school funds, equal to about 1/2 of 1 percent of total education spending in Maryland.

First Head Transplant Scheduled to be Performed by Doctor Branded ‘Nuts’

Well, this used to be the stuff of crazy fright movies, but now a doctor is insisting that he can transplant the head of a living patient onto the body of a dead donor patient. The Frankenstein-like operation is being called crazy by some, but one man has already volunteered for the switcheroo.

The doctor was called “nuts” by some, but a terminally ill Russian man named Valery Spiridonov has announced that he wants this operation.

A man with a fatal medical condition has spoken exclusively to MailOnline about how he is set to become the first person to undergo a head transplant and hopes it could be as soon as next year.

Valery Spiridonov says he is ready to put his trust in controversial surgeon Dr Sergio Canavero who claims he can cut off his head and attach it to a healthy body.

Mr Spiridonov, 30, a computer scientist from Russia, said: ‘My decision is final and I do not plan to change my mind.’

As a lifelong sufferer of the rare genetic Werdnig-Hoffman muscle wasting disease, he says he wants the chance of a new body before he dies.

‘Am I afraid? Yes, of course I am. But it is not just very scary, but also very interesting,’ said Mr Spiridonov from his home in Vladimir, a city 120 miles east of Moscow.

‘But you have to understand that I don’t really have many choices’, he said. ‘If I don’t try this chance my fate will be very sad. With every year my state is getting worse.’

Rand Paul Turns the Typical Question on Abortion Exceptions Around in the Most Amazing Way

The media always pound pro-life Republican candidates like presidential hopeful Rand Paul with questions about exceptions in an attempt to make pro-life candidates appear as if they are unsympathetic about women victimized by rape because they don’ think killing the baby is the appropriate response. Reporters almost never ask pro-abortion Democrats hard-hitting questions about why they support late-term abortions, for example.

So when Paul got a question from a reporter today, he turned it around in the most amazing way.

Associated Press reporter Philip Elliott prodded Paul on abortion and whether he would support any exceptions to a ban on abortions.

“The thing is about abortion—and about a lot of things—is that I think people get tied up in all these details of, sort of, you’re this or this or that, or you’re hard and fast (on) one thing or the other,” Paul told Elliott. “I’ve supported both bills with and without (exceptions), you know. In general, I am pro-life. So I will support legislation that advances and shows that life is special and deserves protection.”

“Should there be any exemptions or not?” asked NH1 reporter Paul Steinhauser, in a followup.

“What’s the DNC say?” asked Paul, shifting the question back to Democrats.

“Here’s the deal—we always seen to have the debate waaaaay over here on what are the exact details of exemptions, or when it starts,” said Paul, waving his hands to the left. “Why don’t we ask the DNC: Is it okay to kill a seven-pound baby in the uterus? You go back and you ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz if she’s OK with killing a seven-pound baby that is not born yet. Ask her when life begins, and you ask Debbie when it’s okay to protect life. When you get an answer from Debbie, get back to me.”

Gay Marriage Debate’s Sore Winners

Liberals should be celebrating in good cheer, not by muzzling opponents for wrongthink.

The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner.

After decades of fighting for gay rights, those who should be guzzling the bubbly are muzzling the vanquished.

It's hard for the people who call themselves liberals (while acting like anything but) to top their past bullying and intolerance of those who won't fall in line with their worldview. Yet, with the Indiana religious freedom bill, they pulled it off. After Memories Pizza owner Crystal O'Connor told an Indiana reporter that she would not cater a gay wedding because it would conflict with her religious beliefs, the world exploded.

A girls golf coach at an Indiana high school tweeted, "Who's going to Walkerton, IN to burn down #memoriespizza w me?" The pizzeria outside South Bend received death threats and harassment and felt forced to shut down the shop. It's Yelp page was vandalized with obscene and homo-erotic pictures. The owners have said they don't know if it will be safe to re-open.

Stossel: US Moving From 'Inclusion' to Totalitarianism

Bake me a cake, or go to jail!

Sadly, that is the new message from “inclusive” America. If you don’t want to cater, photograph, preside over, sell pizza at, sell flowers to or otherwise participate in a gay wedding, you will be punished. If you don’t want your business to pay for a kind of birth control that you consider murder, you will pay fines until your business is bankrupt.

Personally, I think both birth control and homosexuality are just fine, and gay marriage is as valid as straight marriage. But forcing everyone to act as if they think that way is just wrong. We have moved from “inclusion” to totalitarianism.

Why force someone who disapproves of your actions to bake you a cake? Lots of other bakers would love the business. This debate has moved from inclusion to demanding that everyone adopt your values.

Number of slaves found on Indonesian island at almost 550

JAKARTA, Indonesia — The number of enslaved fishermen found on a remote Indonesian island has now reached nearly 550, after a fact-finding team returned for a single day to make sure no one had been left behind nearly a week after more than half of the men were removed in a dramatic rescue.

Many of the 210 identified Thursday were Burmese who wanted to leave, but there were a few holdouts — men who claimed they were owed years of back pay from their bosses, said Steve Hamilton, deputy chief of mission at the International Organization for Migration in Jakarta.

An in-depth investigation by The Associated Press published last month led to the discovery of massive rights abuses in the island village of Benjina and surrounding waters. The report traced slave-caught seafood from there to Thailand where it can then enter the supply chains of some of America's biggest supermarket chains and retailers.

Many of the men interviewed said they were tricked or even kidnapped before being put on boats in Thailand and taken to Indonesia. They were forced to work almost non-stop under horrendous conditions, some brutally beaten by their Thai captains when they were sick or caught resting.

Program aims to deter development around naval air station

WASHINGTON — Government agencies and the Chesapeake Conservancy are committing $9.7 million to discourage development in parts of three states within the aircraft testing range of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland.

The U.S. departments of defense, interior and agriculture said Wednesday that the installation has been added to a program called Sentinel Landscapes. The program creates buffers for military test missions by protecting lands from development in partnership with environmental groups.

The Patuxent River Atlantic Test Ranges cover nearly 2,400 square miles of restricted airspace over parts of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay.

The territory includes part of Somerset County, where a wind power developer recently shelved a project amid concern that the tall turbines could compromise radar during aircraft tests.

Neighbors Say Mayor Jim Ireton Knew Neighbors Were Squatting

While neighbors had called Code & Compliance complaining people were living in the foreclosed home, residents say the Mayor had to know that people were coming and going in that residence. In fact, they also claim one of the people who had foreclosed on the home works with Jim at the Board of Education.

On record, the City stated the home was listed as vacant. Even the Police stated it was vacant. This is the same home in which the former owners who were squatting had cut the gas lines to the home and almost blew up the neighborhood.

Ben Carson Wades Into Hostile Territory at Al Sharpton Event

Ben Carson, the black Republican and potential presidential candidate who once told Barack Obama his health-insurance plan was the worst U.S. policy since slavery, was an unlikely guest speaker Wednesday at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

Appearing in Manhattan at the annual meeting convened by Sharpton, the civil-rights leader and an Obama ally, the conservative Carson stood out in a crowd of progressive activists promoting housing subsidies, redistribution of wealth, gay rights and punishment for police brutality.

“We need to talk about stuff we don’t talk about, we need to talk about the fact that 73 percent of our babies are born out of wedlock,” Carson told the mostly black audience. “And that baby is four times as likely to grow up in poverty. Unless we talk about it, nobody else is going to talk about it.”

Exploring The Shore: Great Oak Manor In Chestertown, MD

Spring inspires us to adventure more and explore all that the Eastern Shore has to offer…and believe us when we say there is SO much to explore. Just when we think we’ve uncovered every park, attraction, and quaint hideaway, we stumble upon another! Our most recent discovery is situated on the upper part of the Eastern Shore in Chestertown, MD – Great Oak Manor. A historic bed & breakfast sited on a bluff on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay just eight miles from Chestertown, Great Oak Manor has been a B&B since 1946, with bragging rights to famous guests over the years including John F. Kennedy and Ernest Hemingway. We had to learn more…

Great Oak Manor is a historic, 12-guest room Georgian style manor built in 1938. Most recently, ownership changed hands, with Kent County resident Buddy Reed partnering with Mike Kuhn to taken over the historic property. “My dad was a Washington College graduate, and I’ve been coming to the area for years. My wife and I bought a home near Great Oak a decade ago – when I first saw Great Oak Manor, I was really impressed, and dreamed about the possibility of owning it some day,” says Reed. “When it came on the market again, my partner and I jumped on the opportunity. We’re thrilled to be stewards of this magnificent inn.”

The historic, family AND pet friendly property includes 12 guest rooms – six with fireplaces – each complete with private en suite bathrooms, hair dryers, high definition flat screen televisions, robes, DirecTV, and robes. A full, hot breakfast is served daily, along with afternoon refreshments. Picnic baskets featuring hand-crafted sandwiches, cookies, fresh fruit, beverages and wine are also available for purchase.

Sen. Cotton: Obama Offers 'The Ultimate False Choice' on Iran

Sen. Tom Cotton is calling on the Obama administration to keep open the possibility of airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, emphasizing that this could take the form of a targeted attack over several days rather than a massive engagement.

The Arkansas Republican said the military campaign he envisions would not be the kind of all-out conflict President Barack Obama has repeatedly warned against. Instead, he said it would look much like Operation Desert Fox, the December 1998 military campaign ordered by President Bill Clinton in which the United States and Britain bombed Iraq for four days in response to Saddam Hussein's refusal to comply with United Nations inspection requirements.

The four-day operation involved "air and naval bombing against Iraq's weapons of mass destruction facilities for exactly the same kind of behavior – for interfering with weapons inspectors and for disobeying Security Council resolutions. All we're asking is that the president simply be as tough as in the protection of America's national security interest as Bill Clinton was," Cotton said in an interview with the Family Research Council's program "Washington Watch With Tony Perkins."

Cotton, a veteran of combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, said Obama's assertion that the real alternative to his deal with Iran is going to war is a "false choice."

"The president has a bad habit of accusing other people of making false choices, but he presented the ultimate false choice last week when he said 'it's either this deal or war,' " Cotton said.

BOMBSHELL: ‘Very Likely’ Hillary Clinton’s Emails Were Hacked by America’s Enemies, Says Former Obama Intelligence Official

Retired former top intelligence official in the Obama Administration, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, told Megyn Kelly of FOX News on Monday that if he had done something for convenience’s sake to the soldiers he was leading instead of their welfare (as Hillary Clinton has effectively done in Emailgate), that he would expect to be fired and that the chances Clinton’s private email server was hacked by America’s enemies is very high.

“As a military officer, if I said I was doing something for convenience’s sake to the soldiers that I was leading, and it was solely for my convenience instead of their, you know, their welfare, I should be relieved of duty. I would expect to be fired,” Flynn, who ran the Defense Intelligence Agency, told Kelly.

When Kelly asked what he thought the likelihood of countries like China or Russia hacked into her secret server stored at her private residence, Flynn confidently answered, “Very high — likely.”

“Really?” a shocked Kelly asked.

“Yep. Likely. They’re very good at it,” Flynn reiterated. “China, Russia, Iran, potentially the North Koreans — other countries who may be “our allies” because they can,” he asserted.

“Everything that person in that responsibility touches, who’s in the government — everything belongs to the government,” he said.

Flynn said Mrs. Clinton, the leading 2016 Democrat presidential figure, should not have been doing government business using personal technology.

Ehud Barak to US: Tell Iran To Abandon Nuclear Aspirations 'Or Else'

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak Wednesday urged the United States to present Iranian leaders with a clear choice: abandon your nuclear aspirations "or else."

"The Pentagon and the forces of America under the backing and probable directive of the [US] president [could] create an extremely effective means to destroy the Iranian nuclear military program over a fraction of one night," the former Israeli leader told CNBC.

Barak added that it was preferable to see a peaceful end to Iran's nuclear threat.

Ever since the framework of a deal between Iran and the US, along with world powers Russia, China, France, the UK and Germany, there have been conflicting accounts as to the exact nature of the agreement and what it means for chances of reaching a final deal.

"There is no agreement, basically," said Barak, arguing that President Barack Obama and his administration have painted themselves into a corner by committing themselves "all around the world and back home to pass this agreement."

Major League Baseball’s New Time Rules Are Awesome

One of the best things about baseball is that it has no clock. It’s what makes the game different from all other sports. Well, that, and the fact that it’s the only one where the defense has the ball. It’s a leisurely game. You’re given nine innings to win and if you’re tied at the end of that, you get free baseball until someone wins.

However, there’s a big difference between a leisurely two-hour game and those regularly slogging in at three-and-a-half hours for only nine innings of play. So Major League Baseball put in new clocks — the baseball equivalent of shot clocks, essentially — to quicken the pace by shortening the breaks between innings and pitching changes. The League also instituted regulations requiring hitters to keep a foot in the batter’s box, with notable exceptions (e.g. foul balls, wild pitches, time outs). The shot clocks are 2 minutes, 25 seconds for locally televised games and 2 minutes, 45 seconds for nationally televised games. Pitchers have to throw their last warm-ups before 30 seconds remain.

The rules were met with much criticism. Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt said the baseball clock “makes me cringe.” Michael Brendan Dougherty, editor of the baseball newsletter The Slurve wrote, “We hate the pitch clock.”

New Security Measures Will Greet Orioles Fans On Opening Day

Lt Dennis Reinhard, head of Game Day Security for the Baltimore City Police Department at Camden Yards, spoke with WBAL NewsRadio 1090's Anne Kramer about the new metal detectors that will greet those going to Orioles games in the 2015 Baseball Season.

Lt. Reinhard, talks about the role that the Baltimore Police Department plays in the overall fan experience.

Here is additional information from the Orioles regarding the security changes at Camden Yards.

As previously announced by Major League Baseball, all MLB teams have implemented mandatory metal detection screening of all fans prior to entry at each MLB ballpark. Oriole Park at Camden Yards will now have walk-through magnetometers or hand-held metal detectors at each entrance in order to ensure a safe and fun environment for fans attending Orioles games. Fans are advised to allow themselves plenty of time for entry, as entry is expected to take slightly longer this season.

Can The Left Come Up With One True Story?

Yesterday, up on the stair,

I saw a rape that wasn't there,

It wasn't there again today!

Oh why, oh why did it go away ...

From the Duke lacrosse team, the Columbia mattress girl and the University of Virginia, the left has not been able to produce one actual rape on a college campus. It's beginning to look as if the rape of the Sabine women never happened, either. Someone's going to have to go back and investigate.

The big finale to the latest college rape fable, Rolling Stone's whimsical "A Rape on Campus," about a fraternity gang rape at the University of Virginia that never happened, is the Columbia Journalism Review's "investigation" of the story, released Sunday night. It's more of a house of mirrors than a finale, inasmuch as CJR's report is so preposterous that it demands its own investigation.

The CJR treats "reporting" as if it is some sort of learned craft, requiring years of study, as opposed to basic common sense. For example, if someone has an incredible story that he's dying for you to publicize, but loses interest every time you try to confirm any of the facts, a normal person would say: Oh, that's because it's probably a lie.

State Dept.: Obama Was 'a Little Mixed Up' in NPR Interview

Spokeswoman Marie Harf tries to undo damage done by Obama's admission that under deal, Iran's breakout time would eventually be 'near zero.'

State Department Spokeswoman Marie Harf said Tuesday that President Barack Obama's wording had been “a little mixed up” and “muddled” when he stated, in an NPR interview, that the deal being struck with Iran would eventually enable it to break out and build a nuclear bomb in “near zero” time.

She insisted that he had not been talking about a scenario that would result from the signing of the deal that is being negotiated, but rather the opposite – what could happen if the deal is not signed.

Is it possible, however, to reconcile Harf's representation of what Obama meant with what he actually said?

Here is the video in which Obama, who is considered to be a masterful speaker, supposedly "muddled" his words.

I Left the Democrat[ic] Party

The diagnosis is in. America is sick. Radicals rule Washington and most of them are snuggled comfortably within the political party with which I once identified. Please, no judging. Unless things turn around, their domestic and foreign policies mean our kids…and theirs…will suffer, not prosper. “Freedom was a beautiful thing” is what we’ll tell them.

Hope is also a beautiful thing. And there’s still hope, given good people do more than complain…or ignore what’s happening. Politics cannot fix what’s wrong with America, but unless good people get involved…informed…shake things up…vote…we’re sunk.

What’s really needed is a kind of tough love…an unashamed Jesus-y kind of love that shakes people into reality by speaking the truth and overturning tables. Or opinions. That’s the kind of stuff a fairly unknown African American politician, State Rep. John Olumba of Detroit is made of, inspiring him to do what I once did. He defected from the Democrat party late last year.

During his December 2014 farewell speech, well worth the time to watch online, Olumba expressed utter dismay that his former party actual prevents the poor and blacks “from standing on their own two feet” by sending government-funded social workers to “coddle” and keep down “poor little black kids” rather than allowing them to rise above their circumstances. He said it is nearly impossible to rise when “someone else’s wellbeing is tied to your misery,” vis-à-vis social worker jobs and Democrat votes. He said the Democrat Party’s “paternal attitude” toward those in need is “conjured up” and noted that all the government-funded social workers “under the guise of the name Democrat” reaped “no positive change in all the years” he’d been alive.” Strong words he speaks from his own Detroit experience.

He then praised the not-so-perfect Republican Party, which has identity struggles of its own but at least represents the goodness that once made America great — holding fast to the now-dwindling freedoms we cherish and embracing good things like being pro-baby, which most certainly makes God smile. He said, “The Grand Old Party, Good on Principles” should press forward because “you freed the slaves once and you’ll do it again.”

Kissinger Slams Obama for Conceding to Iranian 'Nuclear Arsenal'

Joining the outpouring of criticism against the Iranian nuclear framework deal announced last week on Tuesday were legendary former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and George P. Shultz, who warned of the implications of the deal.

In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, the two veteran diplomats wrote that "debate regarding technical details of the deal has thus far inhibited the soul-searching necessary regarding its deeper implications."

"For 20 years, three presidents of both major parties proclaimed that an Iranian nuclear weapon was contrary to American and global interests - and that they were prepared to use force to prevent it. Yet negotiations that began 12 years ago as an international effort to prevent an Iranian capability to develop a nuclear arsenal are ending with an agreement that concedes this very capability, albeit short of its full capacity in the first ten years," they wrote.

U-Md. student government endorses demand that Byrd stadium be renamed, citing racist legacy

Colin Byrd hates the name. A second-generation “terrapin” — his father graduated from the University of Maryland in 1978 — he’s leading the campaign to pull the name “Byrd” off of the university’s football stadium, a proposal the student government endorsed in a 13-2-2 vote Wednesday night.

A coalition of student groups says Byrd Stadium’s namesake, H.C. “Curley” Byrd, a former president of the university, was a racist and a segregationist whose beliefs are contrary to the state flagship school’s mission and principles.

The campaign echoes those on many other college campuses, such as the University of North Carolina and Clemson University, which have buildings or other sites named in honor of historic figures or supporters of the college whose views now seem offensive to many.

Main Street Gym Concert & Donation

Main St Gym's "Concert in the Ring" turned out to be a knock out event. It was sponsored by Pohanka of Salisbury and hosted by Hal Chernoff who kicked off the night with a monologue that had the crowd cracking up. Chernoff then started the crowd on its musical journey by playing two of his homegrown songs.

Then “Red No Blue” took the stage with Nick Dudas on percussion, Mitchell Gittelman and Rob Becker on guitar, and vocals Rob Becker and Nick Dudas.

Following “Red No Blue” was Chris English who is a local legend with his raspy traditional blues and masterful guitar. Chris had the crowd mesmerized with his lighting fast hands and vocals that keep all eyes and ears glued to the veteran bluesman.

Then on stage for the first time, Blessed Gypsy. This band is packed full of talent with Mark Fitzgerald on lead guitar (played with the Charlie Daniel’s Band), Gary Harrison on rhythm guitar, Don Hall on acoustic guitar and vocals, Jeff Marshall on bass, Greg French on drums and Larry Parsons on percussion.

People were jumping up from the tables and moving to the music. "People weren't sure what to expect and when it was so good, it took the night even higher," said Chernoff.

The night grew to a crescendo as Bryan Russo and the Tragic Figures stepped into the ring. With their tight arrangements of funk and blues, they had the crowd believing that the band was imported from outside the borders of our Eastern Shore. With Russo on lead and vocals, Mike Noyes on harmonica, Brett Conaway on drums and John Sybert on bass, they proved why they have been so busy opening for acts like Los Lonely Boys and playing at the popular 9:30 Club in DC.

All these performers donated their time and talent to raise money for Main St Gym and the Excellence in Nursing Fund.
“We tried something different and it worked, but as good as it was, we will strive tomake it better next time.” said Chernoff.
