It's Been A Crazy Week

I have heard celebrity hosts expressing their disappointment in the Presidential Election results, even going so far as to saying they don't want to hear Obama's voice or even see his face until after Christmas.

I have spoken to many friends who are just lost with what our future holds. I will say, I am extremely impressed with Wicomico County being mainly democrats, yet the majority voted for Romney. I'd say, (unlike ALL of the MSM on the Shore) we did our job and we were successful in our messages.

Look, I am not a party line kind of guy. I believe, (and always have) that I will vote for the best man or woman for the job. Unfortunately, (IMHO) Romney was not the best candidate for President for the Republican Party. It is what it is. I can sit here and say Obama is like Santa Claus like so many other people in the media have expressed. However, Obama is our President once again and rather than being bitter about it, we have no choice but to move forward and pressure the Republican Party to do a better job delivering a candidate and that's all there is to it.

I found some spare time today to draft this Post because I could not go to Crisfield as I had planned. I want to thank ALL of those people who were able to take time out of their busy schedules to help those in need down there. Unfortunately for me, one of my closest friends is in ICU today with stage 4 cancer. He went into the Hospital on Thursday night and it's been a mess schedule wise ever since.

Folks, we have a LOT to be thankful for.  Clearly we cannot win all of our battles in life. That being said, we can agree to disagree. We can move forward and make the very best of life. America is not coming to an end. America is simply changing. It may not be easy to accept and we may not like it but like anything else, we're growing older and even dependent on the younger generations.

As Americans we need to look a LOT closer at how our children are being taught and WHO is teaching them. We need to be far more involved in their education system and get more involved, unless you want things to continue the way our leaders and elected officials are directing them.

When I published a picture of my Niece and Nephew holding up election signs this week, the very first comment stated this was, "child abuse". Quite frankly I got pretty ticked off at such a statement because our Teachers, (who are mainly liberal) are spending so much time expressing their agenda and beliefs for the majority of their time in school. They want you to believe now that if we teach our children OUR beliefs, that's now child abuse.

IF we want to take responsibility for how our children are raised, we need to start with elected school boards. We need to get far more involved with the PTA. Clearly entitlements have proven to be the easiest way to cope in life, rather than going out and working hard every day and providing for our Families. I'm proud to say I have successfully done well with that department when it comes to my children. They are incredibly independent as well as great providers.

IF you believe we are failing it is because WE are not involved in the critical areas we need to be. I am personally doing everything in my powers to make such changes. I have been running this Blog for more than 7 years. I have been dedicated 365 days a year in all that time to spread messages I feel are important to all of you, republican, democrat or whatever. I am even going so far as to run for Mayor of Salisbury in the hope of delivering promising changes to make our lives better.

Should Jim Ireton run again and should Jim win, as mentioned last week, the voters will have spoken. I will have done my job and will sleep very well at night knowing I did everything in my powers to make a difference.

Look, this is NOT the Superbowl to me. I feel we can start at a local level to make a difference. If the citizens choose that the Obama style of leadership is the way to go, they'll vote for Jim Ireton. If your sick and tired of how Salisbury has been handled these past 16 years, you'll vote for me.

Ladies & Gentlemen, according to some local democrats, we're child abusers. God Forbid we even THINK of teaching our OWN children what WE believe in. In their eyes they want to be rewarded and take credit for whom our children have become. Well, in my lifetime, I'm at least stepping up to the plate to offer YOU something different.

The battle for the upcoming Mayoral election will be decided at the polls. The end results will show what Salisbury, Maryland is made of. It's NOT a matter of hate. It's a matter of what WE want at a local level. We may not like the results of the Presidential election so we must make a change on a local level and ask other municipalities across the Nation to think long and hard at how our children are molded.

A friend said to me, it all started going down hill once they took God out of our schools. It was one thing for a Teacher to come down on one of our children for doing something wrong. Then when our child would come home with a complaint from their Teacher, they had us to answer to. However, when God was in our schools there was another source of being, (some would even call it guilt) to answer to. As children we knew right from wrong. Today, our children rarely have two parents living under one roof to discipline them. One parent, (if not both) want to always be the good guy and not a person they'll hate.

At my age, most Mom's stayed home and Dad went to work and provided. Today, both Parents work full time to help pay for gas, insurance, food, mortgages, gas & electric, college, you name it. Credit Card Companies made it easy for us to borrow and fall into debt. Today, we don't have the time to get involved in PTA or join Boards or become Council Members and those Parents who do find the time to get involved, well, God Bless them because as difficult as it already is to raise our Families, think about how much more weight is now on their shoulders.

It's a matter of managing our time more wisely. It can be done. if your willing to try hard enough. Now, if you are not willing to get more involved, if you didn't get out and vote, well, you have NO RIGHT complaining about the end results. You are simply accepting the outcome of each election and that is your right. However, it doesn't make it right. Perhaps that's the direction America is going. Perhaps you want to be on welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, never ending unemployment?

I wasn't raised that way. I want to bring jobs to Salisbury, Maryland. I want lower taxes on your properties. Oh, it can be done just as soon as we stop building $14,000,000.00 Fire palaces and $1,400,000.00 Fire Boats. Just because we have a credit rating to borrow such money doesn't mean we need to spend it. I'll put it this way. Your car payment is for 4,5 or 6 years. One day it does get paid off. Just because the payment is over it doesn't mean you need to go out and buy a new one simply because that's the new American way. Times are tough, you know it and I know it. There are MANY things the City paid for 30 years ago that are now being paid off. STOP spending just because it's available.

We can turn Salisbury around but don't think for a single second it can be done in 2 years. We can start heading down the right path but skate parks, dog parks, NOT in my line of thinking. We need paved roads and upgraded infrastructure. I don't care of the Federal Government wants to give us grant money, WE are responsible for the upkeep and policing of such projects and unless it is paid for elsewhere it's NOT going to happen under my leadership.

The Mayoral Election is up to you. Putting lipstick on a pig is what we've dealt with for the past 16 years. Sooner or later someone has to take the bull by the horns and do something positive with what we have. I can and will make things right.

Don't wake up the next morning without getting out to VOTE and think, man, how did Ireton get reelected! This election is one of the most important elections Salisbury has ever experienced. The National Elections are over and each and every one of you have to accept the end result. Don't let this happen again.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER BELTWAY PURSUIT

(COLLEGE PARK, MD) – A Washington D.C. man is under arrest after a pursuit, this afternoon in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties that resulted in the injury of a trooper.

The suspect is identified as James C. Gregory, 23, of Washington D.C. The suspect was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md. after complaining of injury. After consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $1000, resisting arrest, false statement to police and numerous traffic charges. The suspect will be transported from Holy Cross Hospital to the Prince George’s County central booking unit where he will await his initial appearance before a court commissioner.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. today, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack were given a broadcast for a stolen 2007 gray Honda Accord with Maryland registration. The vehicle was traveling in the area of southbound Interstate 95 and Interstate 495 in Prince George’s County. A trooper spotted the vehicle moments later southbound on Interstate 495 passing Baltimore Avenue (Rt. 1). The trooper followed the vehicle into the Greenbelt Metro Station where the driver parked in an open space. The trooper was concerned that the suspect might flee on foot. The trooper, in full uniform, approached the stopped vehicle on foot and ordered the suspect to turn off the vehicle. The suspect refused and was able to maneuver his vehicle out of the parking space. The trooper activated the emergency lights and siren of his unmarked patrol unit.

The suspect attempted to elude the trooper by exiting the metro parking area onto northbound Interstate 495. The suspect continued northbound at which time another trooper joined the pursuit by activating the emergency lights and sirens of his marked Maryland State Police patrol unit. The suspect refused to stop and accelerated as he continued to weave through traffic and attempted to elude troopers by exiting onto Baltimore Avenue heading north.

Trooper First Class Manuel Moreno, while working an extra-duty assignment in the area of the 10000 block of Baltimore Avenue, heard the pursuit heading his way. He attempted to place stop sticks (tire deflating devices) in the roadway to disable the stolen Honda. The suspect avoided the stop sticks and intentionally struck Tfc. Moreno with the Honda.

The pursuit continued into the Ikea parking lot, back onto Baltimore Avenue, eventually making its way back onto Interstate 495 towards Montgomery County. After exiting Interstate 495 onto northbound New Hampshire Avenue, the suspect parked the stolen vehicle in the 10800 block of Blossom Lane in Silver Spring. Troopers lost sight of the vehicle, but were able to dispatch a description of the vehicle as well as the suspect. The stolen vehicle was recovered from Blossom Lane.

Montgomery County Police Department plainclothes officers observed the suspect walking away from the vehicle in the area of Gatewood Avenue and Burt Mills Avenue in Silver Spring. They approached the suspect and he was taken into custody with further incident. The suspect complained of injury and was transported to Holy Cross Hospital.

Trooper First Class Moreno who was injured when struck by the suspect was taken to Prince George’s County Hospital where he has treated for minor injuries and released. Tfc. Moreno is a three year veteran of the Maryland State Police.

A motive for Gregory’s actions is unknown at this time. The investigation continues.

What Marijuana Does To Your Body And Mind

With the recreational use of marijuana about to be legal in two states, Colorado and Washington, we thought now would be an important time to refresh ourselves about the effects that the drug has on our bodies and minds.
Marijuana comes from the cannais sativa plant, and is the dried and shredded leaves, stems seeds and flowers. The high you get from marijuana comes from a chemical called Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC. Some strains contain more or less THC — making them more or less potent.
Most of THC's effects happen in the brain, where the chemical interacts with receptors on brain cells called cannibinoid receptors. Our bodies actually make chemicals very similar to THC, which are used in normal brain function and development. THC co-opts these natural pathways to produce most of its effects.

Wicomico Sheriff Defends Traffic Camera Usage

SALISBURY -- Despite a minor hiccup that resulted in a week’s worth of speeding violations being refunded, Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis stood by his office’s continued use of traffic cameras this week.

“This has enabled us to do a lot with our resources … I think they’re working as desired,” he told the County Council Tuesday.

Currently, the sheriff’s office has two traffic cameras that it deploys in different county school zones. They are only deployed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The cameras first became operational in July and since then have accumulated some impressive numbers.

Lewis confirmed that 586 speeding citations have been issued directly because of the cameras. Of those 586, only 15 have been contested and only one has been defeated in court. The sheriff explained that even that one defeat only came as a result of human error in submitting evidence by the prosecutor.

Those 586 citations have generated $23,400 in gross revenue, Lewis continued, with the county netting $14,650. Additionally, zero collisions have been reported in the areas where the cameras operate.

“I’m well aware when I enter a school zone that the cameras are functioning,” said Lewis, who added that the system is working “very, very well.”

What Should The GOP Do? "Die"

A NEW PARTY IS NEEDED TO PROTECT AMERICAN TAXPAYERS, FREE MARKETS AND INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES

In the wake of U.S. President Barack Obama’s reelection this week there are plenty of columns out there offering unsolicited advice as to what “Republicans” need to do in order to to reclaim their electoral relevance.
“Don’t run to the middle,” “run further to the middle,” “nominate a minority,” “don’t talk about abortion,” “collaborate with the Democrats …” etc., etc., ad infinitum.
The advice is pouring in from all corners as America’s new perpetual minority party contemplates yet another rebranding.  And the mainstream press is eating it up, too.  In fact this week we saw a Facebook post from our old friend Aaron Gould Sheinin – a reporter with the Atlanta Journal Constitution – seeking comment from GOP operatives regarding their thoughts on “the party’s path forward.”
Naturally we’ve read all of these exercises in hand-wringing and blame-shifting before – and we’ve heard all of this advice before.  In fact in years past we’ve actually written a few columns instructing Republicans on steps they could take to improve their electoral prospects.
“Having forsaken the lower tax, limited government ideals they were sent to Washington to defend, Republicans all across the nation are facing some serious time in the wilderness,” we wrote in 2008, adding that GOP voters should insist on nominating “candidates with a proven track record of protecting the taxpayers’ best interests.”

This Is Why Being A People Pleaser Is Not A Good Idea

If you find yourself constantly prioritizing others' needs over your own, you'll never have enough time to get everything done.
People pleasing is a productivity killer.
For anyone who is especially anxious over getting approval, it's important to create boundaries. This will help you separate what's urgent from what can wait.
Lifehacker's Elizabeth Saunders wrote an excellent article on how to change your mentality in three people-pleasing scenarios. Below is a condensed version of each situation:
Change your view of what it means to be a "good employee"
Being a "good employee" at work does not mean your door always needs to be open. This will leave you with too many distractions during the day and could also cause problems in other areas of your life when you're forced to bring work home.
To make sure this doesn't happen, remind yourself that finishing high-priority work is part of being a good employee. By changing your standards for what it means to be a good employee, you will stop feeling guilty for not doing enough.

Planning Commission OKs Tier Map

Bunker, staff say map doesn’t meet septic bill’s intent

The Charles County Planning Commission’s majority chose to discard a staff-recommended tier map and instead passed at Monday’s meeting a septic tier map submitted by the Balanced Growth Initiative.
The BGI map passed 4-2, with Commission Vice Chairman Joe Richard and commission members Lou Grasso, Joan Jones and Bob Mitchell voting for it. Commission Chairman Courtney Edmonds and commission member Steve Bunker voted against the BGI map. Commission member Joe Tieger was absent. The same vote discarded the staff tier map.
BGI, a group that opposes rural land restrictions in the comprehensive plan and other county land use policies, presented a map at a public hearing Sept. 24 that staff said Monday did not meet the intent of the Sustainable Growth and Agricultural Preservation Act, also known as the “septic bill.”
The septic bill requires counties to draw maps depicting where sewer and septic system services are permitted.

A New Kind Of Freedom

Karl Marx was asked once how he could justify advocating a political system of
slavery for the individual, which is what socialism is. He replied that socialism is not
slavery; it is a "new kind of freedom." As all perceptive students of history know, the
intellectuals of Europe bought into such Alice in Wonderland sophistry and plunged
into the twentieth century nightmare of collectivist tyranny. But unfortunately, so did
American intellectuals about 30 years later when the Progressives of Woodrow
Wilson's era established the Creature from Jekyll Island to usher in centralized
government banking and the progressive income tax to "spread the wealth
around."

Wicomico Mulls State’s Tier Plan

SALISBURY -- Like many neighboring counties, the Wicomico County Council is reviewing the potential effects of adopting a statewide septics bill that would require land to be assigned one of four tiers.

“This bill is very complex,” said Transportation and Long Range Planning Director Keith Hall. “It’s not a one-day read.”

The driving force behind the bill is an effort to encourage development on existing water and sewer and to shy away from adding more septics to Wicomico. The end goal of having less septics is to improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay, which Hall said Annapolis has put on a “pollution diet.”
However, while Hall felt that there are “pros and cons” to the bill, he acknowledged that its restrictiveness could harm individual land owners.“During the last meeting, we heard several concerns,” he told the council.

Tiers II and III would allow major subdivisions to be built on septic systems in either a limited capacity or after a public hearing and approval of the Planning Commission, respectively.

ATHENS ON THE POTOMAC

President Obama’s re-election bewilders

Ronald Reagan called the 1964 election “a time for choosing.” Tuesday’s election yielded a time for bewilderment.
Given his record, it is astonishing that President Obama won re-election. He should have lost, big time. Despite an $833 billion stimulus and $5.6 trillion in fresh national debt, the economy crawls forward with 2 percent growth. Shovel-ready projects were not shovel ready. The Department of Energy has generated some 60,000 “green” jobs — at $578,333 each. When Obama arrived, the unemployment rate was 7.8 percent. It’s now 7.9 percent. Nonetheless, Obama is the first president to get re-elected with joblessness above 7.2 percent since FDR in 1936.
Serious analysts like Michael Barone, co-author of “The Almanac of American Politics,” forecast 315 electoral votes for Mitt Romney. Accurate since 1980, the University of Colorado Boulder’s model predicted 330 electoral votes for Romney. In fact, Romney secured 206 electoral votes, with Florida still too close to call.
Reputed uber-genius Karl Rove reconfirmed that he is the most overrated living participant in American public life. As “the architect” of profligate “compassionate conservatism,” Rove helped smash the GOP’s reputation for fiscal discipline. This still hurts Republicans. As Reuters’ Tim Reid wrote: “Early national exit polls revealed that about 50 percent of U.S. voters still blamed former Republican President George W. Bush for the country’s economic problems rather than Obama.” The allegedly brilliant Rove foresaw 279 electoral votes for Romney. Oops! Rove should retire to a Texas ranch, where he can raise and sell actual bull.

Wait, I Didn't Vote For That! ...Uh, Yes You Did

Voter Turnout Plunges Throughout the Western World . Largely Due To Political Corruption

Preliminary figures suggest fewer people voted this year than four years ago, when voters shattered turnout records as they elected Obama to his first term.
In most states, the numbers were even lower than in 2004, said Curtis Gans, director of American University’s Center for the Study of the American Electorate. Every state but Iowa is showing a smaller turnout than in 2008, Gans said. Still, the full picture may not be known for weeks because much of the counting takes place after Election Day.
“This was a major plunge in turnout nationally,” said Gans, who estimated about 126 million Americans voted, for an overall turnout rate of about 57.5 percent.

“Beyond the people with passion, we have a disengaged electorate,” Gans said.

Market Comeback, Obama To Propose Tax Freeze On Middle Class

Markets have rallied back into the green!
The Dow was down 100 in early going futures. Now it's up 12!
What's going on?
And The Washington Post is reporting that Obama will propose a middle class tax freeze (which is a predictable opening move in this fiscal cliff fight).
Both Boehner (at 11:05 AM) and Obama (at 1 PM) have public announcements/statements on the deficit and fiscal cliff coming up.

Republican State Of Denial

FOR conservatives casting about for comfort, there are plenty of plausible reasons to dismiss talk of a crisis. Mitt Romney could have run a better campaign. He reacted slowly when Barack Obama defined him as a heartless plutocrat, and flip-flopped on policies so frequently that even campaign allies struggled to keep up. This was an election that maintained the balance of powers as they were, not a rout: if 65m American voters saw fit to hand Mr Obama a second term, fully 62m would have preferred not to sample Hope and Change, the sequel.
In congressional contests voters denied Mr Obama a mandate to pursue any more of the Democratic agenda, ensuring that he will only be able to propose laws that can pass both a House of Representatives that remains firmly in Republican hands and a Senate in which they will still wield the power of death-by-filibuster. Some Republican success, it is true, was down to recent shameless efforts to gerrymander the nation's congressional boundaries. But that does not fully account for their roughly 40-seat majority. Besides, 30 states now have Republican governors, though state borders cannot be gerrymandered.

Amtrak Reopens Tunnels

Amtrak is reopening three tunnels under New York City that were flooded by Hurricane Sandy. The tunnels provide access to and from Manhattan's Penn Station, a major hub along the Northeast Corridor. Reopening them will speed up Amtrak and commuter rail service along the East Coast. Amtrak said trains traveling through those tunnels will operate at 80 percent capacity. The company is still making repairs.

FEMA Trailers Are Back

They're back. FEMA trailers, that is. FEMA director Craig Fugate said the government will deliver mobile homes to areas of New York and New Jersey hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy. Officials are nearly out of other housing options for displaced people. Reuters reports, Fugate, in a press conference, wouldn't estimate how many of the trailers FEMA would supply. The trailers have a notorious reputation. FEMA sent tens of thousands of them to support Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005. They were later found to be contaminated with formaldehyde. That prompted lawsuits and a $37 million settlement against the manufacturers.

Restrictions Lifted To Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

The Office of Personnel Management is easing restrictions on benefits to help feds who are victims of Superstorm Sandy. The Washington Post reports insurers in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program are extending deadlines for things such as notifying them if you've had emergency care or been treated by an out-of-network provider. The Federal Long-Term Care Insurance program will not cancel benefits for Sandy victims who fail to pay their premiums on time. The Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance program is streamlining its procedures to pay out claims faster, and OPM has a hotline [888-472-2967] for retirees and survivors hurt by the storm.

Climate Change Killed Off The Mayas

The mystery of the ancient Maya downfall might be solved by a rock formation that suggests climate change could have led to the civilization’s demise.
Researchers from Pennsylvania State University traced a climate trail recorded in a 2,000-year-old stalagmite found in a cave in Belize, concluding that prolonged periods of drought corresponded with the disintegration of the Maya political system. The findings are published today in the journal Science.
The Maya, who originated around 2600 B.C. in current day Southeastern Mexico, grew to prominence and size during the next three millennia, building temple step-pyramids and developing highly accurate astronomical and calendar systems. Why some of their larger cities were abandoned a thousand years ago is largely a mystery. Though weather shifts have been proposed previously, the stalagmite findings may offer the data that was lacking, said Douglas Kennett, the lead study author.
“We lucked into very good material to work with, to develop a very detailed climate record that is anchored chronologically in a way that other records haven’t been able to,” Kennett, a professor of anthropology at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania, said in a phone interview.

"Pure Democracy Is Dangerous"... When It's Purchased

From an outright libertarian, the headline seems contrary; but Ron Paul's affirmation that "pure democracy is dangerous" critically confirms what Romney accidentally admitted: that enabling the majority to dictate the minority is a problem when the majority are receiving a [government] check. Bloomberg TV's Betty Liu looks a little shocked when the thoughtful Paul confirms bluntly that the reelection of Obama is driven simply by 'the people' being on the 'receiving end' of government benefits and that the US is "so far gone; we're over the cliff already." From Boehner and the lack of credibility in Washington to GOP's 'acceptance' of higher taxes and why he quit Congress, Ron Paul succinctly reminds many of the true state of the union in which we live...

'TSUNAMI' OF REGULATIONS EXPECTED AFTER OBAMA REELECTION

President Barack Obama's administration deliberately held off implementing burdensome regulations that favored environmentalists, labor unions, and dealt with Obamacare in the month leading up to the election because they would be politically unpopular.

Before Obama won reelection, the backlog of regulations suggested to many industry experts that if Obama won reelection, his administration would be "publishing thousands of pages of regulations in the coming months."
Now that Obama won, some in the business community expect a "tsunami" of regulations that will burst through the dam because about 70 percent of regulations under review have been held for more 90 days, which is 30 days more than the customary 60-day limit. And these are regulations that have made it out of the various agencies. There are many more still on hold.

Four More Years

Only in America can a president who inherits a deep recession and whose policies have actually made the effects of that recession worse get re-elected. Only in America can a president who wants the bureaucrats who can't run the Post Office to micromanage the administration of every American's health care get re-elected. Only in America can a president who kills Americans overseas who have never been charged or convicted of a crime get re-elected. And only in America can a president who borrowed and spent more than $5 trillion in fewer than four years, plans to repay none of it and promises to borrow another $5 trillion in his second term get re-elected.

What's going on here?

What is going on is the present-day proof of the truism observed by Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, who rarely agreed on anything in public: When the voters recognize that the public treasury has become a public trough, they will send to Washington not persons who will promote self-reliance and foster an atmosphere of prosperity, but rather those who will give away the most cash and thereby create dependency. This is an attitude that, though present in some localities in the colonial era, was created at the federal level by Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt, magnified by FDR, enhanced by LBJ, and eventually joined in by all modern-day Democrats and most contemporary Republicans.

Obama Wins 8 Of The Nation's 10 Wealthiest Counties.Impressive Stats For A "Socialist"

I just love these statistics posted by CNBC yesterday:
In an election that often focused on debates about class warfare, President Barack Obama was favored over multimillionaire businessman Mitt Romney in eight of the nation’s 10 wealthiest counties.
For a guy that supposedly wants to redistribute wealth, the wealthiest people sure do seem to like him.  The sad truth of the matter is that Obama is doing one simple thing.  He is paying off the poor via food stamps and disability checks so that they stay in line while the oligarchs steal everything in sight.  The middle class is squeezed in the process and is rapidly disappearing.  So in a way he is a wealth distributor, just not in the way the pundits would have you believe.  He is funneling the wealth or the middle class and non-oligarch rich to the super rich oligarchs.  The poor just get paid off to shut-up as usual.  I am once again reminded of Keynes’ famous quote:
Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the capitalist system was to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some. The sight of this arbitrary rearrangement of riches strikes not only at security but at confidence in the equity of the existing distribution of wealth.
So there we have it.  Obama the socialist? No. Obama the crony capitalist coddler?  Most definitely.
