Ocean City To Use Fourth Fireworks For Grand New Year’s Eve Celebration

OCEAN CITY — The two fireworks shows that would have been held at both ends of town last weekend on the Fourth of July will now be condensed to a single show on New Year’s Eve after a compromise was reached this week between the town and the vendor.

Last month, the Mayor and Council agreed to postpone the traditional Fourth of July fireworks shows downtown at the Boardwalk and uptown at Northside Park over ongoing concerns about COVID-19 and the thousands of spectators that cram into both venues. Instead, the town continued to work with the vendor, Celebration Fireworks, Inc., on alternative dates, including possibly in conjunction with the O.C. Air Show in mid-August or even Labor Day weekend.

Everyone wants their $$$$ (vendor being paid) as long as there is an understanding downtown that the $$$$$$$$ normally received on a July 4th weekend aint coming on NYE.

Hmmmm...wonder if those hospitality places (hotels/restaurants) that ARE normally open during the holidays will JACK their prices up. Shame if they do, but business is business....i suppose.

NYE is a thursday this year...potential for a long weekend...we shall see.

I heard that Trump is extending 2020 for another 17 months. That act will eliminate 2021 entirely,so those fireworks will have to be used some other time.

I hope it snows for added effect.

The Mayor and Council are completely lost. They fight for hours over stupid stuff, because they don’t have the brains to tackle the tough tasks. Serious change needs to take place starting with the Mayor

Does anyone know anyone who is sick or has died? I don't want to take away from a serious situation and feel terrible for asking this if someone has a loss. But, I own a salon and not one client has been sick or knows someone sick? My salon is in my home, so it is small. I clean between each client and allow only one at a time. I work 3/ 12 hour days. But all my kids work and they don't know anyone sick either?! Only know of a couple of people who have been sick like a friend of a friend. And not that big of a deal. I feel like talking to others is our best way to know the truth.

One day I think we are all going to die, the next it is really no big deal. I have several 'nurse' clients. They have said people who have died would have died anyway from something else. One client said not one nurse or doctor has been sick at her place of work, Unless asymptomatic without testing!? And they are testing people daily. I just feel like if it is doom and gloom wouldn't it be worse by now? The couple of people I have heard that do have it, had a fever they could not control or needed oxygen. But, Everyone has recovered and are fine. One man has a family, only he had it. His wife and kids never got sick. I just think this entire thing is very weird. Is it an issue or not?! We are destroying our economy over it. I feel like if it was bad, I would have some stories to tell and I don't.

Good for you...for now...or when you die. Don't try to ask St. Peter any questions when it's your time to pass thru those pearly gates either. He might send you back! You wouldn't want that.

Neither would we.

Hahahahaaha. Happy Friday. We kid cuz we do care for everyone during this terrible time.

Two friends of mine lost family members to covid here in Wicomico county. A third friend spent 24 days in PGH and barely made it.
It's real and it will kill you.
