Ocean City Police Mounted Patrol Unit Expanding

OCEAN CITY, MD – : Five officers recently became official members of the Ocean City Police Department Mounted Patrol Unit. Pfcs. Benjamin Berry, Neshawn Jubilee and Joseph Laughlin in addition to Officers Julianne O’Toole and Erika Specht recently completed 400 hours of training with the Mounted Patrol Unit to join Corporals Al Custer and Chip Green on the Unit.

“We are looking forward to the continued success of our Mounted Patrol Unit as an integral part of enforcement and crime prevention in Ocean City,” said Chief Ross Buzzuro. “Citizens will continue to see our mounted officers on the boardwalk during the summer months and at many events throughout our community.”

As part of Mounted Patrol training, officers spent time not only learning how to properly ride the horses, but how to patrol from the horse and use the horse to control a crowd.
