Salisbury, MD… Wicomico County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host its eighth annual Freedom Fund Banquet at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, October 5th at the First Baptist Church Family Life and Cultural Center located on the corner of Booth Street and 528 Delaware Avenue, Salisbury, MD.
Rev. Cortly “C.D.” Witherspoon, Sr. will bring the keynote address on the theme: “NAACP: We Shall Not Be Moved.” Rev. Witherspoon is president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Baltimore Chapter. He was licensed to preach in September 2001 at First Baptist Church, the oldest Black Baptist Church in the State of Maryland.
Rev. Witherspoon also serves as a representative of the Baltimore People’s Power Assembly, a leading force in the national struggle against police terrorism. He has played leading roles in grassroots campaigns in Alabama, Arkansas, California, New York, North Carolina, Washington, DC, and Maryland. He continues to offer his voice and experience to various causes around the country, ranging from civil and human rights to workers’ rights and voting rights.
Tickets are $35.00 for adults and $25.00 for youth, age 12 and under. No tickets will be sold
