Rep. Harris Supports $17 Billion In Hurricane Sandy Relief

WASHINGTON, DC: This evening, Representative Andy Harris M.D. supported an amendment that would provide $17.1 billion in aid for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Last evening, Congressman Harris co-sponsored and voted for The Sandy Recovery Improvement Act of 2013 that will streamline the relief effort for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy and future storms. The amendment did not have the massive pork barrel spending for items not related to Hurricane Sandy that was included in the Senate bill. Representative Harris released the following statement on his vote:

“I have seen firsthand the devastating impact Hurricane Sandy had on families and small businesses on the Eastern Shore. The $17.1 billion in aid I voted for will assist those impacted by the storm. In addition to the funding, I supported an amendment that would control spending to ensure the $17.1 billion would not add to our over $16 trillion national debt.
