The Wicomico County Council, in its work session this evening, decided to re-open the search for applicants for the Bob Culver's County Executive position. Holloway, Davis, Acle, & President Dodd pushed as a majority to re-open the application period.
Bill McCain and John Cannon, who are already strange bed-fellows in this, fought jointly to say the council should stick to the two applicants they still have ~ Michele Ennis & Carl Anderton. Hastings chimed in but was not as forceful as McCain and especially Cannon.
Cannon argumentatively and repeatedly questioned both attorneys Wilbur & Taylor challenging opinions they gave about the search process, the timing and the charter. Cannon interrupted the attorneys and his fellow council members continually.
Then Cannon stated, "No one has contacted me to ask to re-open the search."
Folks, I know first hand that is a big, bold lie! I, several others, and every council member is well aware of a very qualified female who has expressed possible interest in the County Executive position if the search was re-opened after Dr. Desmaris backed out. This potential candidate has a financial background, long public service and a list of impressive civic leadership roles.
John Canon has her resume in his possession. She has contacted him about her interest.
And yet tonight he said, "No one has approached me about re-opening the search."
Why would he tell a lie like that when he knows it can be proven otherwise?
Could it be because the potential candidate is a woman? Or is it that this is a potential candidate that Cannon knows he can't bully? Or is it because Cannon has become cranky and argumentative after losing the Council presidency? Or could it be because Carl Anderton & Jake Day have made under the table promises to support Cannon's political goals or rental property regulations?
Why would Canon, McCain, & Hastings argue against re-opening the search if they know they have an opportunity to interview another very well qualified candidate? Why limit it to Anderton and Ennis if neither could get a majority vote last week? Why not interview another candidate to ensure the best qualified person is appointed to the job?
This has already been ugly to watch and the council has made a mess of the County Executive appointment. No potentially good people want to get into a divisive circus like this. Very likely that will happen with the latest well qualified potential candidate. What a shame.

Local, county, state, and federal politicians have lost sight that they are there to do the citizens work. Look out for the citizens. There were 2 people that had applied within the time frame of the process and in my most humble opinion both were well qualified. I want to know if they are breaking laws and ethics rules in what they are doing? Whats the purpose of the Charter if Shall means may? From what i saw, all of this should fall under scrutiny and some investigations done. Its corruption at its best, FOIA all of those emails, texts and voicemails. Those 2 lawyers if you pay attention said. My opinion. Investigations should be done to make sure that the Council has not violated any ethics rules or laws. I have to agree with you 100%. Why is it that Josh Hastings always talks about so many people contact him but the same people don't contact the rest of the council members? I've watched enough of those meetings to know that Hastings brings up "I got all these emails" all the time to try to sway his vote. Is it because Hastings is a liar like when he was running for county council in 2014 and lost. If everyone remembers correctly someone posted on here that Hasting went into a church in Powellville and told the crowd he was a Republican just to get their votes. Hastings is a known Trump hater and a known liar.

I agree with you 100%. Mike Dunn's mission is to get someone to lift the Revenue Cap and he already has Cannon, McCain and Hastings on his side. Carl Anderton will be the key person Dunn thinks he can control to get the Revenue Cap lifted.
The council is doing their part and following the charter. The votes should come from the Republicans and not the Democrats(Cannon, Hastings and McCain). John Cannon proves every meeting he is a true Democrat and should be voting with the Republicans and not the Democrats as he does way too often. I hope everyone remembers this in 2022.
Let's not forget that John Cannon is the main person that got Bill McCain to run for County Council against other Republicans.
John Cannon is following the lead of Democrats Mike Dunn from the Greater Salisbury Committee and Bill Chambers of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce.

John Cannon has a couple of slum properties near the Rt. 50 post office. He owns the little white shack on the corner of Truitt Street and Rt. 50 where the renters park in the front yard and they also have abandoned junk cars in the back which is hidden by overgrown weeds and bushes. This is why Cannon supports Jake Day for Mare because they don't make him clean up his properties. He also owns that gray shack on the corner of Naylor Street as you turn into the post office. The one with bad roofing, torn screen, broken shingles, broken windows and overgrown grass. Another example of Cannon violating the Salisbury Property Maintenance Code and getting away with it because he supports Jake Day, Jack Heath and Muir Boda.

Carl Anderton also supports Mike Dunn's main project, removing the Revenue Cap.
Carl Anderton also made multiple votes on the Red Flag Laws against the Second Amendment. The only reason he ended up voting against it, in the end, is because he and the Eastern Shore Delegation (with the exception of Delegate Otto) were getting their a$$es handed to them by the residents of Wicomico County. Anderton is Anti-second amendment and David Cooper and the 2A crowd are too stupid to see it. Wake up, people!
Carl Anderton also made anti-fracking votes for Western Maryland. Carl is anti-farms and wants all development in the city limits which means you can't build your new house on property you own in the county.

As far as the "digital version" of a Maryland High School Diploma, the State of Maryland does not usually mess up that badly. The State is pretty consistent with its alignment and formatting of official documents. If you Google search "Maryland High School Diplomas" you will find companies that sell fake Maryland diplomas and Harvard degrees for around $70 bucks. This diploma that he showed in his video looks to be one of these knock-offs. Mr. Anderton has some further explaining to do, such as where he acquired his "digital copy" diploma. The people look forward to seeing the real deal that's on its way. I think your guess is a good attempt but you couldn't be any further from the truth on the realities here. It's already been stated that Carl Anderton is the one with the city ties and that he is the one that will line the city pockets. He is already on record for going to Annapolis and pushing to force Wicomico County taxpayers to pay a tax differential to the City of Salisbury, Delmar and Fruitland amounting to millions of dollars. That means the county taxpayers would see an increase in their tax bills to create the revenue lost. That means the county would be forced to lift the revenue cap.
Carl Anderton is also on record for going to Annapolis this past session to strip the Wicomico County Liquor Board of its authority and turn it over to Salisbury forfeiting another $1 Million dollars a year in revenue which the county would have to get by increasing taxes again.
Carl Anderton is no friend of Wicomico County and the overwhelming majority of voters don't like him and he can't get elected countywide. How difficult is that for some people like you to understand??

There is a system set up in a process which you have helped create, and when you don’t like the outcome, you change the rules so you can put the fix in on some other candidate. And to the casual observer, you might think, oh the council Members are probably holding out for someone who is more pro-business, since this is the republican party. But if you pay attention you will see that the CEO of Purdue and some of Salisbury’s most prominent business leaders have spoken out about what an abysmal job they have done by rejecting the most qualified candidate, Carl Anderton Jr. After they made the decision, several business groups, including including the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce held a forum to tell citizens to tell the council they are messing this up. So we have the business community coalesced around one candidate, we have regular citizens speaking up in favor of one candidate, yet the majority of the council will not vote for him and will not explain why. They don’t want him to be the Republican nominee in two years? Why not?

You heard correct. John Cannon gave Carl Anderton the questions in advance and he was coached by Mike Dunn and Bunky Luffman.
A friend of mine told me that Julia Glanz was at the Interviews at the Civic Center and sent them a text after the majority voted for Dr. Desmarais. The text read "What the Fk just happened?"
That clearly tells me that Julia Glanz, Jake Day and Mike Dunn groomed Carl Anderton for the next appointment as the County Executive.
I just saw this post on former District 2 Council Member Marc Kilmer's FB page on one of his posts. Does he think that Marc Kilmer would have voted for Carl Anderton? Well we all agree that this garbage is coming from the city of Salisbury career political employees. Let's look at how well that worked out for them. They put their buddy Stevenson in the administrator position, a position in which he had NO business holding down. The job literally threatened every aspect of his health at the time because he was in way over his head. They put him in the director of field operations job and again he's in way over his head so what does the city do? They've hired at least three people under him now to carry out the jobs daily duties. So now the city is paying four people several hundred thousand dollars a year to do the job ONE man did for forty years. What do you think is going to happen when/if ol cornbread Anderton becomes executive? They're going to have to pay several people to pick up anderton's slack and that not including the friends he plans on hiring. I doubt John Psota will hold Anderton's hand like Day had Glantz to do with Stevenson. Then you have all the ridiculous plans the city has to literally steal millions of taxpayers dollars away from the county and you have a recipe for disaster. The majority of county residents CHOSE to live in the county limits and not the city limits to avoid all this ridiculous reckless taxpayer monies being blown on Jake Days downtown progressive freak show playground.
