Narrative: It has been brought to the attention of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s that there are door-to-door solicitors which may be misrepresenting themselves as employees of a local alarm company. Please contact our office in the event that you are contacted by one of these individuals. Politely decline their service and obtain any identifying information such as physical description, vehicle description, etc.
Here are a few issues that people have been dealing with in other areas of Maryland:
Customers have a problem getting proper attention. Because many of the accounts are sold repeatedly, customers can get shuffled around from marketing company, to provider, to monitoring company.
Many companies and individuals have not met the Maryland requirement that each company, salesperson and technician be licensed by the Department of State Police.
Others also fail to comply with local alarm licensing requirements, or to obtain a local license for door to door sales.
Many falsely claim to represent different alarm companies.
Others claim to represent the customer’s existing alarm company, and falsely tell the customer that they need an upgrade. After the customer signs, they become obligated to two companies for the same services.
Still others claim to offer a “free” system when in reality customers are committing to an extended contract that has a built in fee for the equipment.

A Young man claiming to be from this company was in the Fruitland area just last week. Never seen a vehicle...he was always walking...young guy...very tall...carrying a black backpack.
A representative from Vector came to our house and was very high pressure. He insisted on installing the system that night(9pm)or the deal was off. Was Vector related to this press release? We had a hard time making him leave.
I can guarantee you I could make him leave so fast his head would spin. Once asked to leave and he did not, I would be helping him out the door with the business end of a double barreled shotgun. GAR ON TEED to make him change his mind.

Vector is one of them--they are also using other names.
Someone has been to my house too, just off of Old Ocean City Road in Sby. Even got a hand written quote from him claiming everything was free.
Some guys walking the neighborhood recently by the name of VECTOR were very pushy. I did hear they are licensed in the state of Maryland but yet the young kid who actually installed one in our neighborhood drove a car with Ohio license. They are telling people that there are lots of breakins going on in our neighborhood so people are getting nervous and falling for their hard sell. Are they legit or not?
My parent had two very attractive young girls(no vehicle in sight) come to there house Monday night.They live off Church Street and I'm sure these ladies knew how to scare my older parents to death.These girls sold my parents a vector alarm system that was installed that night.As soon as my parent told me what they had done I gave my parents such a lecture but it was to late they had given bank records and signed a deal financing this system.I told them I had heard of frauds with alarm systems going on.I just called my mom to tell her about this notice and she is very upset.I'm not sure how this will turn out but I will keep everyone updated.
Last week we had one in the Fruitland/South Salisbury area, he was tall, young, blond and walking up and down the road. He was carrying a clipboard, and had shorts on and a badge around his neck. He had on dark shorts and a red shirt with AMP on it. I did not pull into our driveway, I rode up and down the road about 6 times watching him. Never saw a vehicle until the end of his visit to our neighborhood and he was then in a white HUMMER trimmed in black.
Keep an eye out for all of these characters.

This happened to someone I know last week when he asked the guy about a bank account the guy said no and the dude said well we cant help you.
I have had 2 come to my house in Fruitland. The first pulled up in a white chromed up Hummer, and told me he was going to give me a "free" alarm system just for letting me put his sign out front. I told him that I was sure he didn't give much away free to be driving around in a hummer, and told him to cut to the chase. The yearly maintenance fee ends up being about $500. He asked ALOT of questions. I said I would think about it to get rid of him and he said that the promotion was only this weekend. Do I look like I have stupid written on my forhead or something. The second was last night, a clean cut white guy. Didn't see a vehicle but he claimed he was with "Piedmont" or something like that. Selling GE's systems. I told him no thank you. I called the sheriffs office and Fruitland PD and told them about the first guy, but no one seemed too interested. Even though the home invasion was just days before.
2 guys in the Pine Way area Monday early afternoon selling alarms, the very tall one kept trying to look in the window. They had black shirts, company name started with a P, they said they had signs out in this neighborhood......
6:59pm I called the Fruitland Police & they didn't seem too interested. They would rather get doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts at the Fruitland Walmart.
By federal law, you have three business days to cancel any contract you sign in a "door to door" transaction. The law was implemented as a cooling off period to thwart these types of scams.
These guys came to my door last week also. it was dinner time. He tried to shake my hand, and seemed offended when I wouldn't. Asked me "why wont you shake my hand?" because you showed up unannounced at dinnertime, I replied. he replied "burglars show up unannounced too, wouldn't you like a free alarm system to protect your children?" I told him free can't be very good and slammed the door in his face. How dare anyone try to use someone's kids as a sales tool, legit or not. Also a "Vector" salesman. Wonder if this is a legit company, and if they know about these sales tactics?
It concerns me that with all these comments several people have called law enforcement and they seem not too interested. I live in Princess Anne and a couple of weeks ago these guys came through our neighborhood. Same questions and story about neighbors being robbed and I thought about it for a few minutes after talking to one of the guys and called the town police. They came out to my neighborhood and stopped the guy and asked him questions and ran a backround/warrent search on him. The officer told me that he had no warrents or charges and the company was licensed. When I saw this post today, I called WC Sherriff to let them know that Princess Anne had info on these guys if they needed it and I really got the feeling that they didn't give a hoot that I let them know this. Yes there is worse crime but it might only take a phone call to stop these guys or at least run them out of our area!
We currently have an ADT system with a displayed sign in the front yard...same guy decribed came to our house and said he worked for ADT and that they were offering a free upgrade, all he needed was name, and checking account number. his scamming speech must change to suit.
