MARYLANDERS PAY $1,070 PER YEAR IN THIS HIDDEN HEALTH CARE TAX!

MARYLAND IS THE ONLY STATE IN THE UNITED STATES WITH AN ALL-PAYER HOSPITAL SYSTEM, MEANING THAT EVERY HOSPITAL IS REQUIRED TO TREAT EVERY PATIENT NO MATTER WHETHER THEY HAVE INSURANCE OR NOT. THE STATE SETS THE RATE THE HOSPITAL CAN CHARGE FOR EVERY PROCEDURE A LITTLE BIT HIGHER AND THAT EXTRA PREMIUM IS SET ASIDE IN A FUND SO
THE HOSPITAL CAN COVER THE COST OF CARE FOR THE UNINSURED PATIENT WHO CANNOT PAY. EVERY MARYLAND FAMILY WITH HEALTH INSURANCE PAYS APPROXIMATELY $1,070 PER YEAR IN THIS HIDDEN HEALTH CARE TAX.

These are the issues that alot of us are fighting mad about--We hve to not only take care of illegal immigrants but provide them with a translator as well. WHy is Maryland so accomodating towards illegals? Go to the DMV and it looks like an entire section devoted to giving them drivers licenses and agian provididng translators for them. Where does Andy Harris stand on these issues, Joe? As an Anesthesiologist he has felt the sting of decreased reimbursments by insurance companies hard. If he is strong on this type of reform he has my families vote!!

This is absolutely true.

We don't have health insurance, and when we go to the doctor we pay cash and the doctors give us a cash discount. I asked about it because I remember reading my statements from the insurance company when we did, and you will note that there is the amount the doctor charges for the service, next to that is how much the insurance company allows for that procedure, then next to that is how much they actually pay the doctor.
The Doc says they have to have to charge such a high amount because if they don't then the insurance companies won't pay them what they need. The actual cost of what they need...Cash Price!
