Parkwood Apartment Home Invason

2 unknown suspects busted out a rear sliding glass door in an apartment on Beaglin Park Drive in the Parkwood Apartments. The resident was sleeping when they heard the noise and came out to investigate. Two men were standing there brandishing hand guns and instructed the resident to get on the floor. Nothing was taken and the invaders left the scene immediately.

The Sheriff's Department used K-9 Dogs to try to find the suspects but they came up with nothing. If anyone has any information on this please contact 410-548-4890

Municipal Revenue Bills Stalled

MML's revenue initiative (HB 1424) to provide enabling authority to
municipalities to impose their own property transfer tax has stalled in
the House Ways and Means Committee. Citing a lack of political will on
the part of the members of the General Assembly to pass additional tax
bills following the grueling special legislative session in late 2007,
this legislation may be destined to languish in committee without moving
this year.

Other municipal tax initiatives are not faring much better. The Senate
version of the Municipal Excise Tax bill (SB 791) was voted unfavorably
by the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee last week. The House
counterpart (HB 663) is still languishing in the House Ways and Means
Committee. In addition, the Municipal Hotel/Motel Tax legislation is
awaiting a vote in both the House and Senate Committees. When approached
regarding this legislation, most legislators indicate their weariness in
dealing with the ongoing revenue shortfall and their distaste for
passing additional tax measures this year.

What Is Important for the Salisbury City Council?

The Daily Times management seems to have a tough time getting reporter Greg Latshaw to carry water for Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman so they have reverted to one of the oldest tricks in the book - only print news that isn't going to offend one of their masters. Why else would we be treated to yet another piece about Salisbury's attempts to regulate adult businesses.

How many articles has the Daily Times run about Tilghman and her "council leadership" attempting to regulate dirty bookstores? Yet, if you think back to last year's city council campaign the same management refused to print anything about then candidate Gary Comegys being cited for contempt of court or failing to pay child support. Why? The stated reason was that "it was old news". Well, I've got some news for the management of the the Daily Times - until legislation is finally adopted, regulation of "adult businesses" will be old news.

Why would the Daily Times continue to run the same piece over and over? The answer is fairly simple. The city council is meeting tonight. IF the paper didn't continue to run the same tired story over and over they might be forced to actually print some news.

An example from tonight's agenda is the administration's proposed (yeah I know it's in the bag) budget amendment. Oddly enough, this item seems to be missing from the briefing book. Yet, we already know that one item (appropriating more funds for last year's audit) is highly controversial. Why? Because on February 10th, DIS chief Pam Oland stated multiple times that the city would not have to pay one more nickel for the audit than what had already been appropriated.

Of course, the public shouldn't get in too much of a twist over being mislead by the the Tilghman administration. Like the sun rising in the east, or the change of seasons, being told something from Barrie Tilghman's administration that winds up being untrue is something that can be counted on.

What other surprises are in store for us tonight? Perhaps Tilghman's "council leadership" of Louise Smith, Gary Comegys and Shanie Shields will finally allow some steps to be taken to correct the gross financial mismanagement of Salisbury?

NAH!

Breaking News! BOMB THREAT

The WalMart in Fruitland has just been shut down AGAIN for yet another Bomb Threat. This is extremely costly for WalMart as they not only demand every customer leave the store, many times people just walk out with items. Another Salisbury News Exclusive. Now go check it out Daily Times and maybe we'll see it in their paper or on line tomorrow?

Media Monday 080324 - Daily Times Leads Kratovil Bandwagon

Gannett's Daily Times just can't help themselves. Their favorite candidate lost in the GOP primary so they must now resort to front page propaganda in support of their new favorite, Democrat congressional candidate Frank Kratovil. Today's AP article is so riddled with false claims and innuendo that the Kratovil campaign should have been charged for the space.

AP writer / Kratovil shill Kristen Wyatt begins her piece by inferring that Republicans are rushing to, at least listen to Kratovil, if not to necessarily vote for him. Her evidence? Clay Larrimore, a registered Republican in Kent County. Hardly a swarm of GOP grassroots support for Kratovil.

What is most significant is the balance of the article that attempts to take the edge off of Kratovil's true liberalism. According to Wyatt, Kratovil is "hoping to pick up what is now an open congressional seat by striking a moderate tone". Unfortunately for the voters of Maryland's First District, moderation of tone is about all they can expect from Kratovil. He claims that he doesn't support liberal Gov. Martin O'Malley "on everything". That's a pretty safe statement. What policies does he disagree with O'Malley on?

I don't recall Kratovil leading the march against O'Malley's tax increases. I haven't heard Kratovil decrying O'Malley's profligate spending. He certainly hasn't criticized O'Malley's sleazy attempts to illegally provide massive raises to friends and key allies on the state payroll. On what items does Kratovil specifically disagree with his left wing friend?

One of the greatest false inferences told by the AP (and the Daily Times) is regarding Kratovil's heritage:

"Kratovil is trying to play up his Eastern Shore roots in an attempt to peel away Eastern Shore Republicans who routinely voted for Gilchrest."
What Eastern Shore heritage? Kratovil was born and raised in Prince George's County, hardly a bastion of Eastern Shore values. He merely carpetbagged his way up Rt. 301 and across the bridge to set up a run for office.

Buried in that same quote is a blatant attempt to portray Kratovil as some sort of underdog. As Ms. Wyatt has admitted in her own piece, Democrats hold a substantial registration advantage on the Shore and in the First District. Kratovil doesn't need to "peel away Eastern Shore Republicans". He needs to win the votes of First District Democrats. Unfortunately, that may be tough to do.

The First District is more conservative than Maryland as a whole. There is no question that Harris is far more in sync with the District than Kratovil.

The bottom line is that Kratovil needs the help of groups like the AP and the Daily Times to have a chance of getting elected. He needs them to infer that he is a moderate / conservative without actually taking any policy stances. If Kratovil actually claimed some of the stances that are inferred by his friends in the press his money would dry up tomorrow.

Congressional Candidate Andy Harris

Friends,

I hope each of you enjoyed your Easter Holiday.

During the last few weeks, the democratic presidential race has focused on who is most ready to answer a 3am phone call. Many of you will remember the Hillary ad that talked about the need to have a president qualified to receive the 3am phone call. Click Here to see the ad. The thing I found most amusing about the ad is that neither Obama nor Hillary are ready to receive the 3am phone call.

Obama is a first term US Senator who has zero foreign policy credentials. He cites growing up overseas as a foundation on which he would build his foreign policy. Obama has proven time and time again he is not ready ready to lead our military in the fight against radical Islam.

Hillary's only experience is being married to a President. She cites her marriage to Bill while he was dealing with foreign policy as evidence she is ready to lead on foreign policy. The problem is that the Clinton Administration had the worst foreign policy in our nation's history. He allowed Al Qaeda to build a network in multiple nations around the world. When he had the opportunity to catch Osama bin Laden, Clinton did nothing and the result was our nation being attacked on September 11. Our nation does not need another Bill Clinton based foreign policy.

In contrast, John McCain is ready to lead on day one. John McCain is the only presidential candidate who has served in the military. He is a decorated war veteran with decades of experience on foreign policy in the US Congress. When McCain gets a phone call at 3am, I am confident he will know what is in our nation's best interest. That is one of the many reasons I am proud to support John McCain for President.

When people decide who to vote for in Maryland first congressional district, they should consider who the candidates are supporting for President. My democrat opponent supports Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I support John McCain.

God Bless,

Andy

The Salisbury Fire Department Saga Continues

Remember the "change orders" that came through while this facility was already under construction and out of nowhere came these custom made brackets specially designed to support the SURPLUS equipment, (Fire Trucks and an Ambulance) cut up and then installed in a room upstairs whereas another change order had to be done in order to redesign the structure upstairs to support such equipment?

OK, now go back to the first picture above and take a good hard look at the thousands upon thousands of dollars YOU invested into these Custom Made Brackets!

They're I Beams with a 2x6 on top of them! These are your custom made brackets Ladies & Gentlemen! The equipment you also see in this room had to be installed with a Crane, again, at your expense. This is a Training Room. Yeah, right. I'd say, (since it was an after thought and not in their original plans) since they had all this extra money floating around, WHY NOT!

Nevertheless, YOU spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on those Custom Made Brackets and "I" wanted you to see where YOUR money was so well spent.

Could Be The Best Comment I've Ever Seen On Any Blog, Anywhere

M. Rawlins has left a new comment on your post "The New Fire Station Tour":

I'm honestly tired of listening to the firemen and women bitch about how they disserve all this because they risk their lives on a daily basis. I spent 6 years in the Army (2nd Ranger Battalion 11B) two of those overseas defending our country sleeping in the dirt. I was not pampered, I didn't have plasma TV’s nor access to a gym that puts a commercial gym to shame. Push up, sit-ups pull ups, and ruck runs kept us in shape. Eating an mre or heater meal on a cold Afghanistan morning before getting shot at was a luxury. I wish these pansies would grow up and learn what risking your life means. They make it sound like there running in a burning building nonstop every single day and carrying out a kid.

My point is there are a quiet a few dangerous professions that go unrecognized, and we don't care. A silent professional is the true meaning of pride. I'd have much more respect for fire fighters around here if they didn't gloat and talk themselves up like it signifies the level of man they are. Not once have I whined about not being treated right, or gripped about not getting recognition that I disserved or needing more things because of what I've done or do. This is actually the first time I've referenced it in this fashion since I was discharged. I felt it would make a few of you fire fighters maybe come back down to earth.

And thank you Joe for all you’ve done with your blog. I’ve been reading for a while now, this is the first time I’ve posted. This fire fighter stuff has just finally made me sick after seeing this fire house.

The 'Earliest Easter Sunday' In Our Lifetimes

Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrews used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman based calendar.

This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives. And only the most elderly of
our population have ever seen it this early. And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier. Thus:

1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so unless you're 95 or older you were not around then).

2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than
this year.

Happy Easter Everyone

Today is a double celebration in the Albero Home. Not only did we get to pull out the old Easter Basket and fill it with all kinds of crap that will probably harm our child, it happens to be my Birthday as well.

Yes, I'm another year closer to my Wife's age, (LOL). So we not only get to celebrate Easter, we're doing so with my favorite desert, Death By Chocolate! The diet gets broken today, too bad, too sad!

Oh, by the way. For those of you who've been wondering why the Posts have somewhat slowed down yesterday and yes, even today. Twice a year I receive a Lamp Order from one of the Lamp Manufacturers I manufacture for. That order is in and needs to be filled A.S.A.P.. Normally I'd tell someone to bite me but they're in such desperate need, they're willing to pay a premium to get it done.

That being said, we're busting our tails getting it done and that means working on my Birthday and Easter to do so. I won't say what kind of income it brings in but I will say this order will cover our overhead for at least 6 years. Yeah, it's worth coming out of full retirement twice a year for an order like this one.

So if you're not happy with the lack of Posts I've been putting up today and yesterday, money still talks in the Albero household.

The Delmar Rt. 54 Railroad Crossing Needs To Be Fixed!

For far too long I have been traveling over these tracks on a regular basis and there isn't a single time we do go over these tracks and it isn't an experience.

First of all, the situation with this crossing is the fact that the road is so uneven, it's simply tearing vehicles apart. It doesn't matter what speed your traveling, it's a hazard. Now the smaller the vehicle you use, the worse it seems to be.

Here's the funny part. You get to watch all these Rednecks in their 4x4 pickumup trucks, (I own 3) approaching the tracks and they slow down to like 2 mph and just creep over those tracks like they're driving over eggs!

Talk about a bunch of pansies! They're 4x4 trucks, you Idiots! Now that I'm done playing with the jacked up 4x4 Rednecks, it truly is a bad situation and considering they're fixed the Naylor Mill Road crossing, it's high time they fix the Delmar crossing as well.

Oh, I should add. If you're on of those Rednecks that acts like a pansy crossing those Rail Road Tracks like you were tip toeing through the tulips and someone behind you is honking and laughing at you, that would be me.

The roughness of this crossing is far overdue for repairs and both the Mayor of Delmar Maryland and Delaware need to get together and iron this problem out. The second photo should clearly show just how bad it is to cross this thing. The smaller vehicles can't take it any more and they might as well lower the speed limit to 2 mph at this location.

How sad is it when two Towns that know this situation is that bad that they do nothing about it? It was done at Naylor Mill, they need to fix this situation right away because they're going to get multiple lawsuits for repairs for front end alignments.

Here is The REAL Reason States Want to Hand Out Drivers Licenses to Illegal Aliens

This morning SbyNews did a story on why illegal aliens should not be given drivers licenses. Many comments from readers completely agreed that this should not be done. My contention with this issue runs a little bit deeper however.

There is a gigantic plan that has received so little press given it's scope and size it almost seems unbelievable that something this big could be happening yet so many Americans are unaware of it. Maybe one of the reasons is because Macquarie Media Group has purchased over 40 independent newspapers bordering the project so that they can put the company spin on the project. NAFTA Superhighway

Did you know that a Super Highwayis being built in Texas that TxDOT plans to have begin at the Mexico border and run all the way through the state in a North South direction?

Did you know that this Super Highway is being built with Federal and State Money?

Did you know that the highway will not only be the main artery of transportation consisting of 12 lanes of traffic in each direction a rail line, and the central artery for Natural Gas, Oil, Electricity, and Telecom lines?

Did you know that this will be a toll road?

Did you know that right now in the areas where the road is already built access to other (free) roads have been barricaded so that use of the toll road is mandatory?

Did you know that historically toll roads have been used a convenience to bypass traffic when traveling long distances, yet with this road; roads that Texans have already bought and paid for are being closed in order to force the use of the new toll road not to mention the thousands of business' that are being shut down because of the the new road and the rerouting of traffic?

And now if you really want to get pissed off...

Did you know that this road is owned by a corporation Cintra based in Spain, and the it is partially owned by Juan Carlos, the Emperor of Spain?!?

Yes, the Governor of Texas has gotten into bed with the Emperor of Spain and is exercising the right of 'Imminent Domain' on behalf of a huge corporation, to seize individuals private property to build a road to charge to drive on whose proceeds will go to SPAIN!

And to top it all off Juan's people are negotiating with neighboring states going all of the north to Canada so that this highway will connect thus becoming the 'Trans North American Super Highway'

You see fellow citizens all of these little steps are part of a much bigger plan to erode the sovereignty of our Union.

Don't enforce immigration laws

Pretend to care about illegals flooding our borders

Talk about securing them

Spend tens of millions studying things like feasibility of fences

Hire more Border Patrol Agents, then have them sacrifice their lives for something they believe in because there is truly no support in the effort to guard our borders

Offer Drivers Licenses to Illegals in all of the big migration states

Allow Mexican trucks and drivers transporting goods to continue en-route to the products destination instead of transferring at the border

Seize the private property of American citizens across America's Heartland, through Imminent Domain on behalf of a foreign corporation

Build a Super Highway connecting Mexico and Canada NAFTA Superhighway

Do away with state issued drivers licenses and issue national ID cards

Flush our Sovereignty down the toilet by creating a society of financial slaves to huge banking conglomerates, brought on by the crash of the housing bubble, and the credit card industry based on hyper-inflated values that were bogusly pumped up to create a giant comfort zone and false sense of wealth.

Then in the end become the Trans North American Union, with a common currency just like Europe.

Think it can't happen? It already is!

Click on the hyper links and read for your self.

And They Pick On Bush

When you are faking a pose for a camera photo opportunity, at least you can get the phone turned in the right direction!

And he wants to be President??? ???

Today's Daily Times

I just received my Saturday Daily Times paper and wouldn't you know it, they've been following my Blog again. As you could see from my earlier Post, my question to the City was back on March 10, 2008, who owns Station 16? It took almost two weeks to get NO ANSWER from the City, yet the very next day the Daily Times has a front page article about it?

There's no question in my mind who controls that newspaper, IF you want to call it that? Oh well, just more evidence that paper is losing ground very quickly and the Blogs are tearing them a new one.

Oh, by the way Daily Times, you could have advertised the Easter Egg Hunt today in Pittsville while you were plugging everyone else. Oh, other than that article, nobody is missing a thing today.
