New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, facing fresh criticism for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic that saw his state suffer tens of thousands of deaths within months, is blaming President Trump for the virus coming to New York in the first place.
"If Trump's government had done its job, the virus wouldn't have come here," Cuomo said Thursday on CNN. "The virus didn't come here because of anything New Yorkers did, the virus came here because the federal government missed it."
The number of deaths in the Empire State is over 30,000, dwarfing the death tolls in other states. Cuomo has been criticized in particular for a now-reversed policy that sent COVID patients into nursing homes.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper pushed back this week in a Twitter thread against Cuomo’s “crowing” about New York’s handling of the virus. He also highlighted a poster that Cuomo had put out declaring “New York Tough” and dinging President Trump. Tapper noted what was missing from the poster.

The Deplorable little hobbit: President Trump tried in January to stop flights, the Dems had shitsfits over it. Calls him racist. Even Sliding Biden, was trashing the President over it. Pelosi takes a crew to China town in San Francisco saying there's no problem, its safe to keep going out. Bam cases start showing up in numbers in the San Francisco areas. Cuomo the idiot demands more ventilators, Trump not only sends them and other much need supplies but sends ships etc for mobile hospitals. Cuomo again the idiot decides to put positive sick people into the nursing homes along with old people, now who would ever think this a good idea to begin with. Cuomo does not understand why the virus is spreading in that nursing home and then denies and tries to walk back what he had done. Mean while the ships are being moved back out because they never got used. Tents were put up in various areas including here in Md. They were taken down again because they were not being used. PRMC also had tents that also got taken down. Everyday you turn the tv on, the status of the virus changes, from the CDC to the WHO to the NIH. All keep changing their story. So now its all the Presidents fault. OK gotcha.
