Bomb Threat Had Closed Down The Mall In Salisbury For 18 Hours

In March of 2014 I had published an article,

BREAKING NEWS: MALL IN SALISBURY BEING EVACUATED

Do you recall this the article? The Mall was closed because of a bomb threat.

Now why did they call for K-9 Bomb Dogs for the MALL and close it down for 18 hours, yet they refused to remove your children from two schools and do a thorough or similar search?

In other Counties, students had been completely removed from one school and relocated to another, PROTOCOL. Just as disturbing is what happened in Worcester County yesterday. How in the hell did some Idiot get away with sending little children to a FIRE DEPARTMENT? Again, I ask, IS THIS PROTOCOL?

Now I want you people to THINK. In Schools with up to a thousands students, how many of those parents are getting a divorce or separated? Of those parents, how many of them have restraining orders? ALL IT TAKES IS ONE! So the Board of Ed decides to send these tiny little children to a Fire Department where they have NO CLUE who is who and what is what.

I can tell you in my research over the past three days, it is a CLUSTER MESS when it comes to what is and isn't protocol. ALL of the recent events on the Eastern Shore has truly opened tens of thousands of minds and people want answers.

Don't tell me I'm causing problems, THIS IS A PROBLEM. After 9-11 I just can't believe the Board of Education in ALL counties have not figured out and or followed a unanimous protocol and if there's one thing I can assure you of, NOWHERE in that protocol does it say to send these little children to a Fire Department.

Someone needs to take control of this very serious situation and fix it immediately. If they can take a MALL more seriously then public schools, well, lots of heads need to roll at all levels. At least the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office is also retained for Mall Security as well. Isn't that comforting!

The problem stems from the "good ole boys " on the shore these Idiots are clueless.

They say they put our kids safety first...B.S.!!! My child is a senior at a high school in Wicomico County and I have learned throughout his years in school here that all they care about other numbers so they get their funds. Thats it. Got to keep them in school no matter what. I had the principal at my son's school tell me that he has more say over my child than I do. What a bunch of crap. I am so glad he graduates this year.

I think they (BOE) "think" it was a hoax...based on info they received. Im totally not in agreement but im completely disgusted that they have chosen to go such a path, regardless of what they think they know. It is going to take something huge and devestational apparently. So sad.

There are no good ole boys left in Salisbury.

I am astonished of your ignorance with the children being taken to a firehouse. Let me start by saying that the firehouse in question is a secured facility with video surveillance. The children were warm and safe at all times with their teachers and administrators with whom they are familiar. The school has policies and no children were released to anyone during the situation. The staff and emergency responders worked diligently to make the children feel safe, comfortable and warm on a day that was very cold and scary. I as a parent of the District you are slamming am thankful to everyone who assisted our children and am proud to be a part of a community that pulls together during situations. Maybe you should step out from behind your screen and see what its like to be a first responder, such as the person running into the situation instead of away from it and slamming those who do. Thank you Greenwood Police and Greenwood Vol. Fire Co. for all you do and continue to do!!

4;34, OMG, another Firefighter who thinks they are the right hand to God.

Listen, it is NOT protocol and the Superintendent, Principal and other decision makers clearly did not follow procedures.

Folks, here's what this Firefighter is NOT telling you. These are very young children. He did NOT tell you that there were children there scared out of their minds, crying. While you and I might have taken this as a sort of adventure, NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME.

I have been on the phone this entire day talking to local elected officials, Delegates, Senators, Congressmen, all of whom agrees this is a massive problem. NONE of them know what a state or national protocol for bomb threats.

As for the person who wrote the 4:34 comment, like what I do and say or not, standards need to be in place, period. I could give a crap if you have security cameras or not, RADICALS with masks don't give a crap about them. Heck, we can't even catch the majority of local bank robbers with simple hoodies on.

There should always be contingency protocols when something like this happens. It should be mandatory training.

What is baffling to me is this - most jurisdictions and states have had evacuation/contingency plans since 9/11, so why is Salisbury and Wicomico County 15 years behind? This issue should have been taskmastered and troubleshooted way before now. I have a hard time believing that there is a disconnect so great with the life West of the Chesapeake Bay in this modern age.

Get out of the sticks, kids. You need to have ironclad contingencies for every type of emergency issue known to man. The "There's no life west of the Chesapeake Bay" BS is passe and antiquated thinking. I'm thinking after this, there's no intellect East of it.

what do expect when you have abunch of flat land shorebillys. They are lost when it comes to protocol. These people are lost in time or too much time on there hands. The eastern shore can't maintain or keep pace with society. They are finally doing what i did some 20 years ago. They just don't get it. And yes i was not born and raised here but i can accept change.I from Pennsylvania moved here 15 or so years ago.It wasn't by choice it was a family matter.I do see how it works around here the good ol boys system. Yes thats correct boys i only met a few good men around here.Thats the gods honest truth everyone wants to be somebody. You had to learn to crawl before u could walk.Maybe you all need to pull yourselves with you bootstraps if had any.

Where would you suggest the children have gone?

Everyone is upset over the bomb threats and how poorly the situation was handled. Public outcry blames the BOE, and/or teachers, Superintendent, and/or principals, and/or police, and the FBI, etc.

I have no idea what the answer is or have any suggestions for future bomb threats. Reading all the comments in the posted articles, it is apparent no one else does either.

Joe contacted a Senator to find out how how school bomb threats were handled in his dictric's schools. Just like a true politician, the Senator writes several sentences, that reading between the lines, said "I don't know".

At present, the bomb threats have proven to not be true. At present everything I read is speculation as to who made the bomb threats, or why the bomb threats were made. Now is the time to thank our good Lord that no child has been harmed "because of persons deemed incompetent" by commenters on SBYnews.

We have been blessed so be grateful for this learning experience. We all have been given a 2nd chance - on finding a workable solution to protect the students and school personnel in case of a bomb threat at our schools.

The time to blame others for what could or might have happened is over. It is solution time now.

I don't have a problem with them taken to the fire dept or any other secure location. Standing outside would worry me more. My mind is racing in all different directions and I'm worried these threats could be a way to get the students outside where they ARE sitting ducks. And I am not a fireman, related to one nor do I know any personally.

Anyone else concerned whoever is doing this could robocall in dozens of these calls at the same time or back to back. Tie up LE resources in the area, and then do what they want somewhere else? Just hoping its bored hackers doing it for the laughs, anything else is not something you want to think about.

I don't see the problem with taking children to a fire department. All students in Wicomico County practice off-site drills and are familiar with their "safe place" and what to do upon arrival. No matter where they are taken, some will be afraid and crying. I hate to see frightened children, but in many of the more rural areas of this county, there is no other place large enough to hold hundreds of children and staff! Staff remain with the children at all times.

Students also practice lock-down situations, etc.

When an evacuation or lock-down happens, students know what to do. No plan is perfect, I don't disagree, but most if not all counties have plans and practice with the students exactly what to do should a crisis occur. I have no doubt that the adults are often as scared as the children, but in a crisis, I don't see how that can be alleviated!

Someone please explain to me what is so wrong about going to a fire house???

That mouthy punk deputy Dennis Taylor had our last bomb dog. It died last year. Or should I say committed suicide to get away from him!

What I don't get is why the perpetrator(s) have yet to be nabbed.

I'm willing to bet if the MD State House or U.S. Capitol received bomb threats, the perpetrator(s) would either be in jail or out on bail. Is this another case of a downside of the Eastern Shore being behind the times?

Anon @ 5:21 u can bite me. You probably never learned to tie your shoes until middle school. I forgot more in my fifty years of living than what a shorebilly tries to learn in elementary school. Hey boy I bet you still trying to figure how to fit a square peg into a round hole.
