DOVER, Del. — A Delaware man who underwent a colonoscopy awoke after the procedure to find he was wearing pink women's underwear, according to a lawsuit.
Plaintiff Andrew Walls, of Dover, Del., was not pleased, or amused, and this month filed a civil suit in New Castle County Superior Court against the Delaware Surgery Center in Dover seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
"The defendant's extreme and outrageous conduct went beyond all possible bounds of decency," wrote attorney Gary Nitsche in the complaint on behalf of Walls.

WHO Warns Up To 10,000 Ebola Cases Per Week By December
With more than 4,400 people dead from Ebola - mainly in West Africa - senior WHO official Bruce Aylward told reporters on Monday that the outbreak was continuing to spread geographically to new districts in the capitals of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. As The BBC reports, [4] the WHO says it is alarmed by the number of health workers exposed to the disease and warned the epidemic threatens the "very survival" of societies and could lead to failed states. "Any sense that the great effort that's been kicked off over the last couple of months is already starting to see an impact, that would be really, really premature," Aylward said, as WHO further warned the number of new Ebola cases may jump to 10,000 a week by Dec. 1 as the deadly viral infection spreads - "the virus is still moving geographically and still escalating in capitals, and that’s what concerns me."

Pennies From Hell: Change We Can't Believe In
The cost for the U.S. government to produce pennies and nickels is more than the face value of the coins, a government watchdog points out.
Judicial Watch, in a statement Wednesday, called it an “egregious waste” and a “fleecing.”
The U.S. Treasury’s practice, Judicial Watch said, “means hundreds of millions of coins have been sold well below cost.”
“Incredibly, the government has knowingly done this for at least eight years and actually documented the egregious waste in several reports though nothing has been done to stop it,” Judicial Watch said. “In fact, both the Treasury and the Bureau of the Mint have extensive documentation on this, yet it continues today.”

The Ebola virus itself has an incubation period of between 2-21 days. It is not believed to be infectious until symptoms begin to form, however, it can cause infections for up to seven weeks after a patient recovers. Because of its varying incubation period, those infected have between 2-21 days to travel before any form of “screening” currently being done at airports would detect a fever and therefore be able to identify, contain, and treat possible Ebola cases. This means that the infected could be traveling into foreign countries, well past ports of entry and screening points before their symptoms and ability to infect others begin to manifest themselves.
Upon contracting Ebola, patients may begin to exhibit a fever and complain of abdominal pain but otherwise exhibit few other symptoms. It is only until later stages of the infection that Ebola may cause rashes and bleeding – and some patients never develop these symptoms at all. Former Councilman Cleared To Run For Council In 5-2 Vote
OCEAN CITY – Following two public hearings regarding the authenticity of council candidate residencies, one familiar name — former Councilman Joe Hall — was allowed to run while newcomer Philip Ufholz was denied.
Following the filing deadline last Monday evening, City Clerk Kelly Allmond presented the final list of candidates filed to run in the municipal election on Nov. 4 to the Mayor and City Council for approval. She announced a total of nine candidates to fill four open council seats, and Mayor Rick Meehan filed for re-election unchallenged.
The only incumbent to file for re-election for council was Council President Lloyd Martin, who has been in office since 2002. (CUMBERLAND, MD) -- Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Marcus L. Brown was joined by Delegate Kevin Kelly, Senator George Edwards, Ms. Patricia Gainer, Co-Executive Director of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System, and other state officials, Aviation Command members, and emergency services personnel today to officially mark the commencement of full-service mission operation of the new AgustaWestland AW 139 helicopter at the Cumberland Section.
The pilots and flight paramedics who staff “Trooper 5” are now fully trained on the new aircraft. They are flying the new helicopter around the clock on all Aviation Command missions assigned to the Cumberland Section, which is located at the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport.
“What we’re talking about today is our ongoing fulfillment of a promise made to the people of Maryland to continue improving public safety even in the face of some pretty tough economic times,” Governor Martin O’Malley said. “We will continue to make the critical investments necessary to give Maryland’s world renowned, integrated, emergency medical services system the equipment they need to do their jobs and the latest in aviation technology and safety to help save more lives.”
“This new helicopter and the others being deployed represent an incredible improvement to public safety capabilities in Maryland,” Colonel Marcus Brown said. “The new aircraft provides a safer aircraft for our crews, with more room and equipment for our flight paramedics to care for the injured. The new helicopters contain the latest in avionics and safety equipment, including terrain awareness warning systems, night vision compatibility, cockpit voice and video recorders, radar altimeters, and advanced instrument flight rating capabilities, all recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration. The new helicopters provide more space in the patient and cargo areas, enabling flight paramedics to have better access to patients and to carry rescue equipment on board all the time.
The new aircraft also have satellite tracking and downlink video capabilities, as well as interoperable communication.
The twin engines on the helicopters are more powerful than those on the existing aircraft. This is important, especially during a hoist rescue operation. The new aircraft will enable the crew to fly the aircraft away if an engine fails during a hoist operation. Currently, the aircraft will stay aloft if an engine fails, but the hoist rescue must be terminated before the aircraft can leave the scene. According to AgustaWestland, the new helicopter is the fastest in its class, has the largest cabin space of any helicopter in the same weight class, and is the only helicopter in its class that meets or exceeds all the latest civil certification safety requirements.
Due to the significant advancement in technology on the new helicopters, State Police helicopter pilots and flight paramedics are undergoing extensive training on the new aircraft. In addition to pilots learning the new aircraft requirements, the flight paramedics must also become familiar with the new medical equipment and configurations in the aircraft.
Training is being conducted systematically at each individual Aviation Command section. As of today, crews have been fully trained and new helicopters deployed at the Frederick, Easton, Salisbury, Southern Maryland, Washington, and Cumberland sections.
Training is now being conducted with the crews of Trooper 1 at the Baltimore Section. The training of the Baltimore Section will complete the Maryland State Police transition to the new helicopter fleet in just eighteen months and well ahead of schedule.
‘Unemployed’ Man in Dem Attack Ad is Actually Employed
The Democratic Governors Association has again run into trouble with one of the ads it is funding, this time using a picture of a man employed by a company that has praised Maine Republican Governor Paul LePage to represent one of the state’s unemployed.
The ad comes from Maine Forward PAC, a group funded largely by the DGA, which threw nearly $1 million into the group in September alone. The DGA was one of the founding organizations for the PAC, along with some of Maine’s largest labor unions.
The ad attempts to paint a somber picture of Maine’s economic situation, and blames LePage for the state’s 40,000 unemployed individuals. But the main image used to represent the unemployed is a man named Roger Gay who is not unemployed at all.

Those who run watchdog news websites are scratching their heads and trying to make sense of the latest data released by a California company that measures website traffic.
According to data for July through September, almost every major website – from WND to the Drudge Report and Breitbart – saw its rankings drop on Alexa.com while pro-government sites mostly went up.
Alexa Internet Inc. is a subsidiary of Amazon.
Familiar names in alternative media like the Drudge Report, Breitbart, Infowars, the Blaze, Newsmax, WND, FoxNews.com, and the Daily Caller all saw their rankings plummet while sites such as NPR.org, the Daily Kos, Democracy Now!, Media Matters and ThinkProgress all rose in the rankings.

Dover Int’l Speedway Moves Quickly To Remove Seats
Weeks after internal talks became public, Dover International Speedway is removing 17,500 seats from their grandstands.
That leaves just over 95,000 seats left at the Monster Mile which just finished hosting its second race weekend of 2014 NASCAR season just over two weeks ago.
A removal team arrived not long after that, says communications director Gary Camp.
“We were anxious to get going with the removal just to avoid the Dover Downs harness racing season as much as possible. So we got a jump on it right after the race ended,” said Camp.

My Fiancé Was Beaten in DC
On the morning of September 24th I received a call from my fiancé. Her speech was frantic and staggered. It sounded as if she was crying. Less than one mile from where I was using the gym, a stranger attacked her on her way to work. Without any provocation or warning, the stranger (we later found out he is an Air Force vet living on the streets) punched her on the face and dropped her to her knees. According to witnesses he walked – calmly – across the street and punched another woman. She was struck on the face. From there, the stranger walked away – still without any sense of urgency – and disappeared into Washington DC’s busy streets. He was eventually arrested and at the moment he is being pushed through the court system.
Based on the numbers from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) this was a successful end to a terrible event. The police should be applauded for doing the difficult job of protecting the people of the nation’s capitol. The helpless women who were attacked should be thankful that the Boys in Blue were there, in the nick of time!
But the numbers only tell a small part of the story. What the numbers won’t mention – what the apologists for the State won’t consider – are the events that happened between the first assault and the eventual apprehension of the Stranger by the police. (NB: I am calling him the Stranger because despite the wrong being committed against her, my fiancé has been given few details about the assailant).
The fact of the Stranger’s eventual arrest was precipitated by the deeds of caring and proactive individuals. Without their courage and thoughtfulness the deranged stranger would still be on the streets. The DC police were nothing but a Johnny Come Lately.

Teenage Obesity Increased During First Two Years of First Lady’s ‘Let’s Move’ Program
In the first two years since First Lady Michelle Obama launched her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign to fight childhood obesity in 2010, teenage obesity rates increased, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
From 2009-2010, 18.4 percent of children ages 12-19 were classified as obese, according to the CDC. Since then, from 2011-2012, one in five children ages 12-19 or 20.5 percent, were classified as obese, an increase of 11.4 percent. The CDC has been tracking these data since 1966-1970, and at that time only 4.6 percent of teens were classified as obese.
“The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake,” Mrs. Obama saidat the time of the Let’s Move program launch. “This isn’t the kind of problem that can be solved overnight, but with everyone working together, it can be solved. Members of the Maryland State Police, Computer Crimes Section, Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) conducted an online investigation into individuals distributing child pornography.
The investigation led to several files of child pornography being distributed to online services. As a result of the investigation a search and seizure warrant was executed in Prince Georges County, Maryland. During the investigation Trooper First Class Timothy Weber identified the suspect as Travin Deon Butler, 21, of the 6500 block of Dublin Place in Upper Marlboro, Md. Second U.S. health worker infected with Ebola flew the day before symptoms
The second Dallas health care worker who contracted the Ebola virus was on a flight the day before her symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday.
Now, the CDC wants to interview all 132 passengers who were on the plane with her.
The woman's name is Amber Vinson, the Reuters news agency reported.
"Because of the proximity in time between the evening flight and first report of illness the following morning, CDC is reaching out to passengers who flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth Oct. 13," the CDC said in a statement. The flight landed Monday at 8:16 p.m. CT.

In July alone, workers for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stumbled across an unsecured box of smallpox, which had been sitting around in a storage room for decades. Shortly thereafter, a different group managed to send out live anthrax (it was supposed to be dead) to research labs resulting in dozens of scientists being exposed, and subsequently treated with antibiotics.
Ironically, only two months earlier, the CDC was participating in an ongoing debate about whether to destroy the "last" remaining sample of smallpox. Maybe they ought to put that on hold for awhile.
At the time, CDC director "Clueless Tom Frieden" (no relation to Shoeless Joe Jackson), who has led the agency since 2009, cleared this up: “We missed the broader pattern.” I don't know what this means, but I suspect it is government speak for "We really f######ed this up, but it's not my fault."

Funeral Homes Get Marching Orders From CDC On Ebola
Funeral homes have received guidelines from the CDC on how to handle any deaths from Ebola.
Michael Ruck Senior, owner of Ruck Funeral Homes says the guidelines state that if a person dies from Ebola, the body should be cremated immediately. If the family objects to cremation then the body will be buried immediately.
"There will be no visitation or viewing prior to the burial" says Ruck.
The bodies will not be embalmed. If the body is buried it will need to be in a hermetically sealed casket.
He tells WBAL Newsradio 1090 that it is extremely important that funeral homes be notified if a person dies from an infectious disease like Ebola.

The day I “outed” myself to my ultra-liberal family, I was terrified. These are the people who basically tried to bully me into aborting my son (aka, their grandson) back in 2011. Lord knows I love them, but I was seriously considering taking this to the grave.
You’ve got to understand that I’ve always been the person in my family to keep my opinions to myself. Thank goodness I didn’t do that when I found out I was pregnant at 17 years old.

I can date back several family issues that came up where I would nod my head and go to my room to keep from saying what I thought. By that time, my thoughts sounded like screams, and my ears would burn.
It’s very interesting to me that I’ve done this, because my parents have always encouraged my brother and me to speak our minds. And to be fair, sometimes I did. I was in the GSA in high school. I helped lead a peace rally. But should I go against my family’s beliefs?
I know this spiritual transformation I’ve been going through might look completely foreign to members of my family, but really it shouldn’t. They drove me to church, dropped me off, and then picked me up. I loved church. I’ve always loved God. I’ve always loved the messages of Jesus Christ.
Now, at 19, I am taking these things more seriously and trying to live like a Christian in every aspect of my life. I’ve noticed the gifts God has given me that I’ve stuffed down for so long. I have a voice.I’ve always used this voice in music, and my parents were always blown away by my sometimes very dark, deep lyrics.

The protest trigger this time: An officer killed a black teenager who had been shooting at the officer with a stolen handgun. This latest agitation and the rhetoric around it are a troubling indication that the demagoguery against the police is spinning dangerously out of control
According to the police report, on Wednesday night, an off-duty officer waspatrolling a St. Louis neighborhood for a private security company searching for suspects in a recent home invasion. The officer was in uniform and presumably driving a marked car. When a group of three men saw the officer, one took off running. The officer made a U-turn in his car, and the other two men started running as well. The officer noticed that one of the men was holding his waistband as if he had a gun, and the officer then pursued on foot. The suspect, 18-year-old Vonderrit D. Myers, got into an “intense struggle” with the officer, according to the incident report, then shot off three rounds at him. The officer responded with fire as Myers continued to pull the trigger; Myers’s gun jammed, and the officer killed Myers.

So while deposits are obviously hitting new record nominal highs quarter after quarter, when was the last time JPM's loans printed at all time highs? The answer: just as Lehman filed for bankruptcy,when the number was $761 billion.

(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the murder of a 25 year old man in Caroline County.
The suspect arrested is identified as James Bolden, 55, of Federalsburg, Maryland. He is currently being held in police custody at the Federalsburg Police Department, awaiting transport to the Office of the Court Commissioner. After consultation with the Caroline County State’s Attorney, State Police homicide investigators charged Bolden with first degree murder.
Bolden is charged in connection with the death of Timothy Darnell Smith, Jr., 25, of the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Federalsburg. At 8:00 p.m. last night, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a nearby resident who heard the gunshot. The responding police officers found Smith with a gunshot wound to his chest and immediately attempted medical treatment at the scene. Smith was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was later transported to the Georgetown Delaware Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning, Bolden was located at a residence in the 300 block of Park Avenue in Federalsburg and taken into custody by members of the Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team. He was transported to the Federalsburg Police Department where he has been in police custody since.
Video footage from a nearby camera provided a vehicle description for the car, reportedly in the area at the time of the incident. Investigators located the vehicle, which subsequently resulted in locating the suspect in the shooting. Police do not have a motive for the murder at this time.
Investigators continue to interview area residents about what they may have seen or heard. Anyone who may have been driving in the area of Academy Street and Main Street between 7:30 p.m and 8:00 p.m., yesterday is urged to contact Maryland State Police homicide investigators at the Easton Barrack 410-822-3101 or the Federalsburg Police Department 410-754-8966.

I see that the people in charge are still playing God. It has to be the nurse’s fault or the fault of one of her co-workers. We can’t seem to admit that Ebola is a nasty disease that isn’t so hard to catch and very difficult to stop. There are now over 200 dead health workers worldwide because of Ebola. Do you really think they all violated protocol?

MARYLAND STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING IN CAROLINE COUNTY

(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – Homicide investigators from the Maryland State Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting, claiming the life of a 25 year old man in Caroline County.
The deceased victim is identified as Timothy Darnell Smith, Jr., 25, of the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Federalsburg. Smith was located by officers from the Federalsburg Police Department at an intersection in downtown Federalsburg, with an apparent gunshot wound in his upper torso. Smith was immediately provided medical treatment at the scene and transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
At 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, the Federalsburg Police Department received a 9-1-1 call, reporting the incident. The caller told police she heard the sound of a gunshot when she exited a nearby residence. At the time of the shooting, Smith was walking along the sidewalk with another adult male and two children. Police believe the adult male is a cousin of Smith.
Within minutes of the 9-1-1 call, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded and found Smith in a standing position, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Within moments, Smith collapsed on the ground where police immediately attempted resuscitation. Smith was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware where he was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation indicates Smith was walking with his cousin and the two children towards a nearby store in downtown Federalsburg around 8:00 p.m. last night. Witnesses informed police that a car was observed in the area the same time the gunshot was heard.
Maryland State Police crime scene technicians continue to process the scene for evidence. A member of the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office responded and has been working with the State Police Homicide Unit investigators.
Assistance is also being provided by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division from the Upper Shore region, the Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, troopers from the Easton Barrack, the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services, and the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Investigators continue to interview area residents about what they may have seen or heard. The search continues for suspects who may have been involved in this shooting. Anyone who may have been driving in the area of Academy Street and Main Street between 7:30 p.m and 8:00 p.m., yesterday is urged to contact Maryland State Police homicide investigators at the Easton Barrack 410-822-3101 or the Federalsburg Police Department 410-754-8966.

Dover -- Motorists are asked to be alert for volunteers working along the state's roadways this Saturday, October 18, as hundreds of citizens do their part to keep Delaware beautiful. The occasion is the annual "Imagine a Litter-Free Delaware Day", hosted by the Delaware Department of Transportation's Adopt A Highway program, when volunteers make an extra effort to clean up litter statewide.
Adopt-A-Highway volunteers will be active between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Participants will be wearing brightly colored safety vests so they can be seen, but motorists should still proceed with caution. Participants will be on both main roads and rural roads, as well as in local neighborhoods and communities.
Most participants in this event are registered Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, but DelDOT encourages other residents to join the effort; especially those who have made similar commitments to keep neighborhood and community streets clean throughout the state. Adopt-A-Highway participants patrol roads for liter several other times each year on dates of their choosing.
Last year, more than 600 people participated in "Imagine Liter-Free Delaware Day", picking up more than 1,000 bags of litter, or about 5,000 cubic feet of trash.

Army Proves You Don't Have To Earn It, You Just Have To Be A Minority
Army officials say they want more minority officers in the service. Among 26 brigades, only one colonel is African American, and the Army has only three African American generals with a four-star rank. USA Today reports the Army plans to recruit officers from major metropolitan areas. Brigadier General Peggy Combs, who leads the Army Cadet Command, said the Army will expand recruiting efforts in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix. The service is also mentoring youth minority officers to put them on the path toward higher ranks in the Army.
State Department Worried About Eavesdropping At New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel
The State Department is concerned about the planned sale of New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel to a Chinese insurance company. The department uses the landmark hotel for diplomatic purposes each year. It maintains a suite on floor 42 as a residence for the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. The president stays there for a few nights during the general assembly. State officials are concerned that a planned renovation of the Waldorf by the Chinese would turn it into one big eavesdropping site. A spokesman for the U.S. Mission to the U.N. said State is reviewing details of the sale. Hilton Worldwide agreed to sell the Waldorf for nearly $2 billion.

All 5,000 cases turned out to be false alarms. In fact, despite all the hype about Ebola generated by the media and government officials, as of this writing there has only been one preliminarily identified case of someone contracting Ebola within the United States.
Ebola is a dangerous disease, but it is very difficult to contract. Ebola spreads via direct contact with the virus. This usually occurs though contact with bodily fluids. While the Ebola virus may remain on dry surfaces for several hours, it can be destroyed by common disinfectants. So common-sense precautions should be able to prevent Ebola from spreading.
It is no coincidence that many of those countries suffering from mass Ebola outbreaks have also suffered from the plagues of dictatorship and war. The devastation wrought by years of war has made it impossible for these countries to develop modern healthcare infrastructure. For example, the 14-year civil war in Liberia left that country with almost no trained doctors. Those who could leave the war-torn country were quick to depart. Sadly, American foreign aid props up dictators and encourages militarism in these countries.

NBC chief medical correspondent blames her team for violating Ebola quarantine agreement despite the fact SHE visited a soup restaurant
NBC chief medical correspondent Nancy Snyderman has dodged blame for violating a voluntary Ebola quarantine agreement by visiting her favorite soup restaurant.
The 62-year-old doctor made an apologetic statement to NBC News on Monday which nevertheless shifted responsibility for the breach on to the whole team.
Dr Snyderman wrote: 'While under voluntary quarantine guidelines, which called for our team to avoid public contact for 21 days, members of our group violated those guidelines and understand that our quarantine is now mandatory until 21 days have passed.
'We remain healthy and our temperatures are normal.
'As a health professional I know that we have no symptoms and pose no risk to the public, but I am deeply sorry for the concerns this episode caused.'
She added: 'We are thrilled that Ashoka (Mukpo) is getting better and our thoughts continue to be with the thousands affected by Ebola whose stories we all went to cover.'

Maryland Launches Electronic Court Documents Filing System
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland court system is launching an electronic case management system to eventually enable people statewide to file and view court documents on their computers.
Tuesday's launch in Annapolis makes electronic filing mandatory for attorneys practicing in Anne Arundel County and the state appellate courts.
The Maryland Judiciary plans to roll out the system, county by county, over the next five years.

A new report of "economic freedom" around the world finds the US ranked 12th among 152 countries, tied with the United Kingdom, and lower than neighbor Canada or Australia. The index, published by the Cato Institute and Canada's Fraser Institute, has been published since 1996. As recently as 2000, the US ranked 2nd in the world, in terms of boasting a free economy. The US's declining ranking will lower future economic growth.
The index, built on decades of research by Nobel laureates and dozens of leading scholars,measures 5 broad factors that impact the economy: 1. Size of government; 2. Legal structure and security of property rights; 3. Access to sound money; 4. Freedom to trade internationally and; 5. Regulation of Credit, Labor and Business. Countries where citizens are freer to engage in business and trade and property and legal rights are protected by the rule of law will score higher on the index. According to economic research, though, these countries will also do better economically and create and generate more wealth.

Tests reveal 21-year-old actress Skye McCole Bartusiak had muscle relaxers, painkillers and a chemical refrigerant difluoroethane in her system at the time of her death, reports TMZ.
Her death has been ruled an accidental overdose likely caused by the mixture of Vicodin, the muscle relaxant carisoprodol and the refrigerant often abused as an inhalant.

The discovery was found on Church of Scotland land after the detectorist painstakingly searched the unidentified area in Dumfries and Galloway for more than a year.
The hoard, which consists of more than a hundred artefacts, many of which are historically unique, is now under the care of the Treasure Trove Unit and is regarded as being of significant international importance.

Roberts told talk radio host Hugh Hewitt that he participated in a Senate Finance Committee investigation into the IRS scandal but “the effort was made by the majority, by the Democrats in the Congress, to simply end that investigation,” which he called a “whitewash.”
