FIRST LADY KATIE O’MALLEY TO PARTICIPATE IN SECOND ANNUAL PATRICIA AND ARTHUR MODELL SYMPOSIUM ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

ANNAPOLIS, MD (November 8, 2011) –TOMORROW, First Lady Judge Katie O’Malley will deliver remarks at the second annual Patricia and Arthur Modell Symposium on Domestic Violence.

This year’s theme, ‘Giving Voice to Domestic Violence: New Partners, New Strategies, and Game-Changing Innovations,’ will examine impacts of domestic abuse and how to prevent it. 

The second annual program on domestic violence will include a tribute to the late Patricia Modell, a supporter of society’s most vulnerable citizens and the founding chair of the symposium.

Judge O’Malley recently received the Forerunner Award from the Montgomery County Family Justice Center Foundation for her work with victims of domestic violence.  She has been a steadfast advocate for the rights of victims of domestic violence. For years, she has served in the fight to end domestic violence, participating in several House of Ruth functions and giving lectures both in Maryland and overseas.
