ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 23, 2009) – Governor Martin O’Malley will join Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and public safety officials to announce the completion of a new radio transmission tower – one of ten new sites that are part of a $57 million project to totally replace the County’s aging public safety radio communications network. The three-year capital project marks an important step in Governor O’Malley’s goal to develop a completely interoperable communications system for first responders and law enforcement statewide. The system would enable emergency first responders, public safety officials and all law enforcement agencies to communicate reliably, rapidly and instantaneously thus enhancing public safety across the State.
