Phila. Newspaper Bankruptcy Battle Continues Monday

After backing up the truck last week and filing hefty reorganization plan documents to bring the company that owns the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News out of bankruptcy, lawyers in the case will be doing more heavy-lifting this week (see related story).

Newspaper chief executive Brian Tierney is using his www.philly.com web site to launch a "keep it local" campaign, a clear swipe at the out of town creditors he's fighting in court.

The company's reorganization plan -- with a scheduled take-hold date of November 2nd -- would retain local ownership:

"It's an ownership group that would put up enought money that the company would be debt-free."
