Have It My Way At BK? Yeah Right!

"Watch the prices and what you are being charged!

Today I was at the Burger King on S. Salisbury Blvd and ordered a 12 oz chocolate shake from the value menu. The menu on the drive thru said $1.39. The girl who took the order said it would be $1.90 at the second window. When I got there I asked how that was possible when the sign said a lower price. I said the menu says $1.39 and she very rudely said "my computer says $1.90".

At this point I realized there was no point in arguing with her and asked to speak to a manager. A young guy came to the window and I explained it again. He looked at the cashier and said "on the drive thru sign?" and took off without a word to me. After 2 minutes or so he came back and said that price was for coffee not the shake and I told him it said 12 oz shake. He pulled his cell phone out and said "No it doesn't, I took a picture of it, see?" I pointed out that it was a different section of the menu and he started to argue with me. ; I said nevermind and told him to read your blog.

I went back around and took a picture myself which I have attached. I realize that this is a small amount of money but this is happening more and more and we need to be aware especially with the economy. This happened to me last week at a large retail store in Salisbury. I will not say who it was because the management was very quick to respond to my concerns. 100 shakes a day at 50 cents difference = $50 profit for them if people don't realize it. This would be easy to not catch if you are ordering several items."

You can pretty much guarantee that its not the person working the window or even the manager who is doing this.

Heck in times past they would have made the adjustment using something called MATH and an APOLOGY!

Simply subtract

$1.90
-$1.39

But thats way too hard expecially if its not programmed into the computer.

That reminds me of the time I booked a flight First Class but ended up buying a coach ticket because the price was $600.00 less.

At the boarding gate there was confusion with the people there over where to seat me.

I heard one say to the other "whatever the computer says has to be right, the computer is never wrong..."

They sat us in First Class for a coast to coast flight... Chamagne before take off and meals on bone china... Now thats what I'm talking about...

Its no differnt than saying "wait a second" after you hand the person at the window your money then give them an extra 12 cents to get a quarter back...

This is actually a pretty common practice with all the fast food joints around. They burn you on the "value" meals especially. You order it, then once you get the total, it never seems to add up to what it should..

Wow.... A hundred shakes a day? You must be as big as a house.

I have been to the referenced BK and been treated rudely. Given the wrong price, and told the same thing.

Right, I really have a good BK near me, the one on the corner of Mt. Hermon and Civic. Great service, senior discount, fresh food, clean outside and in.

I rarely go to fast food places, except when "on the road" but, it is good to keep these folks "Honest"

Looks like they would just do the courteous thing-give you the posted price of $1.39 and got on with it rather than argue with a customer.

Those shakes you make at wawa in that cool machine are pretty good, flavors galore to.

I had a similar experience at McD in Princess Anne last night. I ordered 2 "double cheeseburgers" to take home, and it was around $2.50 When I asked about the price not being $1 (it's supposed to be a dollar menu item), I was informed that the dollar menu item has a different name (the "McDouble"). Luckily, when I told the cashier that I wanted that one instead, there was no hassle.

Same thing has happened repeatedly at the KFC Long John Silvers

Where does it say "12 oz CHOCOLATE shake"? We all know this is for the plain white vanilla shake. The more desirable chocolate shake, which now promises to be better than any old vanilla shake ever could be, has to be more expensive. How can you expect a highly sought after, almost Jesus like, smooth and rich, mixed just right to please all walks of life, refreshment for just $1.39? I will bet this chocolate shake you are thinking of will cost you plenty more!

Back in Berlin... If you look at the picture it does not specify 12 oz VANILLA shake ..it plainly states 12 oz shake..that therefore means ANY flavor. If it's only for the vanilla then they should state that.
