GANNETT CORPORATION CONTINUES TO TUMBLE

Folks I am not making this stuff up, but Gannett Co., Inc. - (The Daily Times parent Company) - continues to set record lows almost on a daily basis. Today, the stock tumbled to a new record low of $9.08/Share shattering all previous lows.

Just how low will Gannett go remains to be seen, but there is very little cushion remaining at these levels.

It must be the Eastern Shore Teams customer service attitude ethics have spread around the world.

How low can it go???

How long before they go under a dollar and get de-listed?

Could not happen to a better bunch of folks.

did you see the whole market? when will the DOW be under a dollar? this is one stock out of many that are "tumbling"

Heck, general motors is 6.13 today. you think them, and so many others are going to get delisted too?

I think we all get it, Joe doesnt like the Daily Times. Gannet is a big company with many assets. They will either get bought, merge, or reorganize. You dont think they see the writing on the wall (or on the newspaper) that print media has to evolve?

One thing we do know about Gannett, they've paid a terrible price. Whether or not it can be attributed to declining sales, electronic media, irresponsible reporting, mismanagement or all of the above. They cannot sustain themselves very much longer. It's only a matter of time before they have to start a new wave of layoffs.

I can't speak for Joe, but I don't care for The Daily Slim either. They are one slanted newspaper. I've never seen such a biased form of journalism especially for a local media. They have traditionally aligned themselves with the likes of Gilchrest, BOE, Environmental Groups, anti-business advocates, pro-taxation groups. The list goes on an on.

Now that we -(public) - have an unbiased alternative - (SBYnews) - isn't it funny that their stock value decline coincides with the public's increased readership of SBYnews.

I would just like to know why The Daily Times hasn't reported this.

Isn't it news when the areas largest newspaper is on the verge of bankruptcy?

I've not read one IOTA about this in The Daily Times. Why haven't they been reporting this?
I just checked out their stock decline and it is catastrophic. By gollie where have they been through all of this?

The Daily Times - our main stream media - is starting to look just like Salisbury's Main Street. Along with the Boulevard's deplorable bullet holed marquis, if The Daily Times gets any thinner they might as well start attaching weights to it to keep it from blowing away.

Darn Joe, just when I got used to your old posting system, you change it...

anonymous 8:35, I couldn't agree more.

So many of us are sick of the thin paper with nothing but AP articles because they refuse to cover local events.

The other day I was pleased to see the DT's at the Salisbury Kennel Club Grand Opening. I thought I would see an article in yesterdays paper but there was none. Today, they not only had the opportunity to break the story, instead they simply had a photo with a short caption underneath it.

No reporter was sent out and unless it's a huge event of a meeting in the GOB, they wait for the information to come to them now.

I know the Daily Times reads this Site daily, if not every 10 minutes. NOVEMBER 4th, remember that date. Somehting very BIG is going to happen on that date and it's going to have everything to do with YOU.
