Major Breaking Friday Night News

The New Salisbury Fire Department is falling apart! That's right! The ceramic floors from the new kitchen area are cracking and popping and some of the doors are having a hard time closing, one is off by 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches at the bottom and won't seal! They've got chairs not designed for the flooring in the new Station in which the engineers who recommended them completely screwed up. This is not caused by abuse, (scratching and marking the floors) from the Firefighters. They've had overflows from the bathrooms and flowed onto the carpeting. The new doors aren't working properly and they're having to relocate equipment because they cannot get certain doors open. They still haven't installed the speakers so Firefighters inside the building even know there's a fire in progress! Some pagers have dead spots in the building and the speakers are a must. Another piece of information just came in. You know those new big custom doors going into their new Conference Room, they're bowing and are visably showing major signs of not being level at the bottom of the doors. If a taxpayer saw all of this they would freak out.

What say you now Barrie Tilghman, Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy?

another F'd up project. Chief See is a total F'up. I remember a good chief we had...he was from Baltimore City or Baltimore County. He was only here for a year...because he resigned due to how bad the "GOOD OLE BOYS" hated him. He was trying to bring change to the fire department...but barrie and the volunteers and the paid man kept butting heads with him....they didnt want change....because THERE GOOD OLE BOYS.

Better move back to the old building. It has stood the test of time and could out live the new piece of shi- they have built. In an area that is hard to navigate where they are now you have to ask what were they thinking? Also sometimes bigger is not always better.

hahahaha 10 million blog loss the buck stops here

Anonymous said...

who was the general contractor???

Anonymous said...

They drove pilings, specially designed pilings at that. They backfilled that place for days, they rolled, they tamped, they did everything but remember THEY WERE BUILDING ON A BOG.

FUC*ING IDIOTS

I hope the place sinks like the Titanic. Then we should all march into Barries office and DEMAND that $10 million be paid back to Sun Trust and Sta 16 go back to Division St where they came from.

What is the name of that national group that chose this firehouse design/build project as the subject of an article????? If someone remembers that group, post it here and we'll send them this new info as an example of what NOT to do--only Salisbury's Mayor could have screwed this up so badly ('cause that's just what Barrie does...) I wouldn't trust Barrie to do anything--she's nothing but a screw-up.

Anonymous said...

They should have took some advise from Pocomoke.

Anonymous said...

Well, that's not a big surprize at all. We have to remember who pushed for this $10 million project and fire them all, including the mayor and her bobbleheaded buddies on the city council. If things are as bad as you say Joe, and I don't doubt you at all, I am one tax payer who is mad as hell!

One word: Class Action Lawsuit

What was the name of that bogus LLC that purchased the property and sold it to the city for an extremely inflated price?

Was it Salisbury Investments, LLC.?

Hey SFD, you fellas need to go down there and rescue those fire trucks. The SVFD and taxpayers can't afford to buy you all an entire new fleet.

It's not going to be funny when you go to pull out and can't clear the door way because the building has settled so much. Get that equipment outdoors where it is safe from the house that Barrie built.

The first thing they need to do is get rid of Rick Hoppes, Bill Gordy, and David See. These guys have done nothing but ruined the entire Fire Department.

Anonymous said...

Isn't it funny--not really, considering the $10 million cost--that we were told before the first shovel of dirt was taken out that the plot of land was not conducive to a building the size of the fire house? I hope that serious bucks were withheld from the contractor to penalize him for this shoddy work. Maybe the new station should be abadoned in favor of returning to S. Division St., as several of your contributors have suggested. The new one can stand as a very expensive lesson, just as the half-finished River's Edge condo building. The main difference, of course, is that taxpayers footed the bill for the firehouse.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Gillis Gilkerson the general contractor on this project? Sun Trust is holding the lease they might want to think about their investment over there on the bog.

First off the Firefighters need to overthrow their leadership. It's not hard to do if you have the cajones to do it. Go to Barrie Tilghman and tell her you refuse to serve under them and will not do so until they are removed. If you've got anythingon them, concrete evidence, go to Davis Ruark under the Whistle Blowers protection act. Get rid of those bastards now. Let the taxpayers take care of getting rid of Barrie, it won't be hard to do.

Anonymous said...

One thing about concrete is it will crack BUT HEY IDIOTS look past the bullsh!t you were sold and say "hey we have to fix this" But no the powers that be will not take resposibility and it will rot like the rest of the cities projects that will never get fixed. If you have balls get a solution now not your forth coming excuses. I don't trust the city with money and here is another reason

Looks like former Chief Bressler gets the last laugh, folks. He saw the situation and powers that be and did the wise thing -- "Dear Barrie: I'm outtahere!"

I hear he got a great job with a consulting firm.

Posted by joealbero at 5:29 PM

One person you guys keep forgetting about is Deputy Chief Rick Hoppes. This guy has been flying under the wire for quite some time now and may end up being your next chief. He is just as bad as the other two if not worse. Ask the two good council members about his actions and his desire to spend every tax dollar he can.

Anonymous said...

Cole Russell from Cincinatti Ohio is the firm that designed it. Design Atlantic of Salisbury did the rest in the design build. Please contact them and let them know.

10:30 PM

He is back at the same company he was working at before he took the chief's job in Salisbury, Tri Data. He was one of three chief officers that Baltimore County put into early retirement if you know what I mean.

Here is today's $100,000 question: What do people do for a living when they are "in between jobs" or get fired? They become consultants?

Only in America will we pay someone big bucks to be our consultant after they were fired for being imcompetent!!

The contractor was Gillis Gilkerson. They built Station 1 in the 80's. The city paid for major renovations and thousands of dollars over the years to correct problems. The roof was put on incorrectly and it leaked badly. When it was first built they had water flowing under the building and it settled badly. They had to install french drains to correct it. Some things never change.

Anonymous said...

I think they ought to go back to the old Station 16 at 143 South Division Street and let 325 Cypress Street be the new Government Office Building for the mare and her lakey department heads. Chief See, Chief Webster, Bill Holland, Pam Oland, etc. I am sure the County Government would love to get rid of their lame asses.

11:35 PM

The roof was put on backwards and the fire chief at the time refused to make the contractors correct the problem. When it rained every fluorecent light fixture was filled with water and numerous trash cans and 5 gallon buckets were placed to catch the pouring down rain. It's a wonder there wasn't a major fire or someone got electricuted. Isn't interesting how the city inspectors will fine someone for leaky roof's and electrical problems, but they can't clean their own house!

Anonymous said...

Sounds like the same problems as the roof on the police station, always leaking. Same contractor?

Anonymous said...

Hey Joe, Take a look at Claymont's New Fire House. It looks a helluva alot better than the Salisbury piece of $h!+. Maybe the should destroy the mayor's office and put a new fire house there since that office is corrupt and full of dumba$$'s

Gillis Gilkerson and Evans Builders were both F#%K UP's in the construction business. Palmer Gillis was on the city council and had numerous behind the scenes dealings with the city just as Michael Dumb did.

I am so glad that SPD personnel are such great fans of Mr. Albero and Salisbury News.... ROTFLMAO, what do you say Cheefy. I'll have a Jak and Koke to that one!!

constructual inspectors in the area are a joke, they dont do shit, ride around and look the part. gravy job, gravy pention, gravy that all tax payers are paying for.(some or most of the shit ive seen in the past five years that passes foe code is a joke), wondering did this contractor use illegal aliens in the construction process???

F**K See, Hoppes and Gordy. Do a deep investigation into this firehouse fiasco and you might find criminal activity.

Anonymous said...

I would strongly urge you people in the fire department to watch that Richard Hoppes.I have known him a long time and we used to be close friends until he stabbed me in the back. He will lie, steal and cheat to get to the top. He goes to my church and he likes to make people think he is a religious man. All I can say is watch your backs.

Hey Fatso remember Ginger!!!

Those 3 morons at the top of the SFD have some skeletons in their
closets don't they! Lying, stealing, not paying their bills, bankruptcy, infidelity, etc.

ROTFLMAO

Anonymous said...

I was wrong. It was Evans builders. I was just a kid at the time. Same quality workmanship.
The Hopppes guy still uses the F word alot. Not good for such a church going person.

Anonymous said...

Oh Yeah. I remember Ginger. She was that underaged chick that was hanging around the fire house and several of the guys took advantage of her. She told me the ones and RH was on the list. It didn't surprise me.

Anonymous said...

It goes like this. A couple buys a new house.(new to them) Soon things run amok. Utilities don't get paid...payments are lost. Notices come up & you can't keep up with trying to correct the mistakes. Even your tag renewal gets lost in the mail. Your insurance doesn't get paid. Lost in the mail. Citations and more aggravation from the officials. You can't keep up and may not even notice these oversites. A bill for health ins. didn't come. You are too busy to notice for a month or so. Then you find out something has been cancelled. Then a "Ginger" on male equivalent shows up. Next comes the "trial" separation. Then, maybe a divorce, even a foreclosure and someone buys your house at auction for next to nothing (base Mtg price) unless you work really hard to correct the status quo. Chances are you don't have the time or the inclination.
And BOOM, you're starting all over again.
Do you know how many this happens to?
Is it accidental?
I think NOT.
Guess who?

Ah yes ! GINGER. I remember her. That group of fireman were known as the knights of the round table. The public would not want to know about that incident in the firehouse. That person was also involved in the incident where XXX Rated films were being shown in the basement after midnight. The Captain took the fall for him and the wife never found out. My, how the mighty have risen !

Yes indeed. Many of those involved are high ranking officers in the fire department today. Isn't Salisbury just grand!

Oh I get it now....This might be why Rick Hoppes PROMOTED GINGER..
I knew it had to be for should I just say "a special favor"
