Town Hall Meeting About North Prong Revitalization On April 22

Good morning...

The City of Salisbury and The Greater Salisbury Committee invite you to a public meeting on the North Prong Revitalization Plan. We want to hear your thoughts about the future of the area.

The City of Salisbury has retained Mahan Rykiel Associates to prepare a revitalization plan for the North Prong of the Wicomico River. This plan will build on the previous visioning process by the Urban River Project II Task Force and will including the area bounded by Rte. 50, Lake Street, Isabella Street and Mill Street. This is the first of two Town Hall meetings where you will have an opportunity to provide input into this process. During this first meeting, you will have the opportunity to hear about the purpose of the project and to share your thoughts and concerns and ask questions.

The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, at the New Fire Station, 325 Cypress Street in Salisbury. There is a possibility of a new public input meeting later.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

I'm afraid to ask: what was the previous "visioning"?

I don't know about visions, but I'm sure having nightmares about this city.

AND HERE WE GO AGAIN:

"The City of Salisbury and The Greater Salisbury Committee invite you . . ."

Let's stop this nonsense in its tracks before more tax money is spent to promote development and make a few folks even richer.

We don't need or want this.

This is where the black folks need to call in all their supporters, NAACP, Al Sharpton, Black Panthers or anyone else that will put the fear of God into local government. This development vision Barrie and Co has for the North Prong is going to displace more minority families than the expansion of Rt 50.

And what about those that have owned property on that river for a century or more? Should they close up buisness just to suit Barries vision? Does the city have the money to purchase all of this land? Does the city have the funds to relocate all of the people living on the west side of the Isabella St?

It's always been about what Barrie wants, the hell with the people and what they want, need or presently own?

NOW does everyone understand WHY that firehouse was built on Cypress St? It wasn't to service the west side residents thats for sure.

Lets fill that new fire house and see just how much weight the building can hold before it sinks.

If you google "Michael Waldman Salisbury" you will learn:

He lives on Spring Crest Drive in the Village of Tony Tank

He is or was President of Shore Transit Authority at least in 2001

He was blogger Michael Swartz campaign manager for the Wicomico County Republican Central Committee

Republican Central Committee = Louise Smith (past), John Bartkovich and Ron Alessi. Let us not forget attorney for Village of Tony Tank and former Wicomico County Council Republican candidate MJ Caldwell.

Possibly no relation but there is or was a Waldman living 2 doors down from our illustrious mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman.

Draw your own conclusions.

So tell me west siders, how is Shanie working out for you? Time to put someone in that will represent the people instead of the slumlords.

Next time you see Shanie at the VFW playing slots, sipping on a Heineken remind her who she works for, it sure ain't YOU.

The Mayor and her officers have a master plan. All successful dictators have a plan just like Hitler had his plan to annihilate the Jews. Barrie wants an all white Salisbury. She will move the Black folks to Hebron.Barrie will have all city buildings painted pure white and be named the White Queen who transformed Salisbury into the perfect city.Hail Barrie and may your name be carried by the four winds.

How is this area Zoned? Can she "oops" they really make those businesses move and why is the meeting at the fire pit "house" instead of at the court house? I know where I would like to "vision" Barrie. Why would anyone want to live next to the new fire whistle anyway. I don't get it...

There's not a single positive comment here...pure bitching. It goes to show that it is so easy to be negative.

Oh, and what does race have to do with the revitalization of the river? Everyone in Salisbury has the opportunity to participate in this process. Why should fear be utilized in an open town hall meeting? It is not in the spirit of how our country was founded.

Instead, try understanding what the City's consultant is doing and assist them in making your town a better place? It's a better use of our time.

I am involved with the development of places like this. For 20 years I have publicly dealt with folk like the responders here on this site, and have found such negative comments to be embarrassing for your neighbors and generally unproductive. I've concluded that hard-headed and short-sighted residents will always show up with unnecessary and wasteful comments, often to see if they can de-rail or stall progress and growth. They have no intention of participating in a civic-minded way.

Subsequent responces to this entry will likely be more of the same. It's too bad--it belittles and degrades your town.
