The Salisbury Skate Park

Notice the middle picture shows this skater "waxing" the wall where they jump up and slide along the wall. On weekends and most evenings you'll see these skaters all over Downtown. I'd say, rather than a "Bike Route" through Salisbury, perhaps a Skate Park is in order? We need to keep these kids busy enjoying a Skate Park and perhaps not using their art talent on walls of buildings?

Oh, I'm sure someone is going to slam me for calling this young man a skater rather than a roller blader but that's what they call them these days.

Does anyone remember that there WAS a Skate park in Salisbury? It was very close to the City Park to the east end and across the street. They tore it up because no one was using it.

I'm told it's buried there and only needs to be excavated. Wouldn't that be cool!

Ok, being from Salisbury and a skater (skateboarder) of over 8 years, here is the story. The park was buried. You can still see where it is from the far entrance of the zoo. There is a movement now to get a skatepark in Salisbury at www.salisburysk8park.com. Please donate money to them and spread the word. Ocean Pines will be opening there skatepark this May. The biggest problem surrounding a skatepark in Salisbury is the beuracracy of local government. They spend so much time fighting over every little thing that nothing gets done.....

So its been about 5 or 6 years and ive heard not a thing, whats the situation at this point? its pretty rediculous that this has gone no where yet there is a park now in delmar md, and federalsburg md. How is it that a place like federalsburg has a skatepark but we dont even have a concrete slab were allowed to stand in with a skateboard? We the skaters have built up two spots around salisbury within the last 4 years and both were destroyed by DNR police, hobos, or just idiotic college kids, when can I skate in peace and know if i want to start working a trick in that i can come back and the place will still be there...
