Celebrate the Great American Smokeout on November 21, 2019
(November 18, 2019 Salisbury, MD) – Every year on the third Thursday of November, the Great American Smokeout challenges people who smoke to stop using tobacco for 24 hours and learn about the many tools they can use to help them quit and stay quit. White House Official Sues Politico: ‘Conspired with Schiff’ to Leak False Info to ‘Further Impeachment Inquisition’
House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) “acted in concert” with Politico to leak allegedly false information from the impeachment inquiry as part of a “scheme” to advance the “inquisition” against President Donald Trump, according to an explosive defamation lawsuit filed by a senior Trump White House official on Monday.
White House official Kash Patel, who is a senior counterterrorism official on the National Security Council (NSC), filed the lawsuit in Virginia court in which he says Schiff “weaponized the media” to advance his impeachment agenda.
Patel is a former staffer to the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), who later moved to the White House in the NSC to advise the president on national security and intelligence matters.
Patel on Monday filed the defamation suit in Virginia state court against Politico, Natasha Bertrand, a reporter for the establishment media outlet, and Robert Allbritton, the publisher and executive chairman of the media organization, all identified as defendants.

Australian Lawmakers Reject China’s Demand to ‘Repent’ for Criticism of Communist Party
Two members of Australia’s conservative coalition government have rejected Beijing’s demand they “repent” for their criticism of the Chinese Communist Party.
They said Saturday they will never back down from “standing up for Australian sovereignty, our values, our interests, and standing up for people who can’t stand up for themselves.”
Outspoken Liberal politicians Andrew Hastie and James Paterson were due to take part in a study tour to China next month, but when the tour operator called the Chinese embassy to arrange their visas, it was told the pair was “unwelcome at this time”.
Both politicians have been constant critics of China’s authoritarian state, particularly its human rights record and alleged interference in Australia’s political system, as Breitbart News reported.

Michelle Malkin Fired From Conservative Group
Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin was fired by the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), according to a new report, after she supported a Holocaust-denying, far-right activist who has been trying to revive the alt-right as an influential part of the conservative movement.
In recent months, white nationalist, anti-Semitic internet personality Nick Fuentes has drawn attention for leading a group of supporters to disrupt YAF, Turning Point USA, and other conservative events on college campuses. Most recently, Donald Trump Jr. and TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk were heckled off stage at an event where the president’s son was promoting his new book.
The Hill describes Fuentes’ group, known as “Groypers,” as a loose collection of people who believe people like Kirk are insufficiently right-wing, so the Groypers barge into their events in order to push bigoted sociopolitical positions. While a plethora of mainstream conservatives have condemned them, The Daily Beast reports that Malkin has lauded Fuentes as “one of the New Right leaders,” bashed his critics, and parroted his talking points.
Malkin has years of history with the YAF speakers bureau, but that came to an end this week. The group sent a statement to the Beast saying, “Michelle Malkin in no longer part of YAF’s campus lecture program.” They also released this tweet which seems to be directed at Fuentes’ crowd.
"There is no room in mainstream conservatism or at YAF for holocaust deniers, white nationalists, street brawlers, or racists."

Ratcliffe on IG report: Doesn't take 500 pages to say everything was done right
Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, said on Sunday that he believes the upcoming Inspector General report on the counterintelligence investigation into Russia and the Trump campaign is going to be damning evidence of wrongdoing by FBI and Justice Department officials and could lead to a full-fledged criminal investigation.
“It doesn’t take 500 pages to tell the inspector general that everything was done properly,” Ratcliffe said during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “The IG report is going to find that there were problems.”
For more than a year and a half, Inspector General Michael Horowitz has been investigating alleged misconduct related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, warrants delivered by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC). The Justice Department and FBI obtained warrants in 2016 to surveil Trump adviser Carter Page. It is unclear, at this point, if Page was the only Trump official that the DOJ obtained a FISA warrant against.

Colin Kaepernick does not appear to move needle into his direction after controversy-laden workout
Colin Kaepernick has not thrown a pass in the NFL since the 2016 season and, nearly three years after appearing against the Seattle Seahawks in the final week of the season, his standing in the league and teams’ interest in the quarterback doesn’t appear to have changed even despite his workout Saturday.
Kaepernick, who started a firestorm in the NFL when he decided to kneel during the national anthem to draw awareness to perceived racial and social injustices in the U.S., threw passes for about 40 minutes at an Atlanta high school. While an NFL executive told ESPN his arm talent was “elite” and that he “threw the ball well,” Kaepernick left the field without a team and still out of the NFL.
Kaepernick’s showcase may have been marred by the controversy surrounding the workout in the hours and minutes leading up to it.

Free Tickets to Kanye West Service at Joel Osteen’s Church Scalped for Hundreds of Dollars
Online entrepreneurs are scalping free tickets to rapper Kanye West’s Nov. 17 “Sunday Service” at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church for hundreds of dollars as faithful and fans struggle to find a space in the sold-out 17,000-seat church.
The widely touted concert promoting West’s new gospel-rap album Jesus Is King has been expected to draw “huge crowds,” the Christian Post reported, an estimation corroborated by the frantic last-minute rush to get tickets even at exorbitant prices.
As a typical example, one online ticket seller identified as @takingpayment is offering four tickets to the West & Osteen Sunday Service for $300 each or $1000 for all four.

AI systems to detect 'hate speech' could have 'disproportionate negative impact' on African Americans: Study
A new Cornell University study reveals that some artificial intelligence systems created by universities to identify “prejudice” and “hate speech” online might be racially biased themselves and that their implementation could backfire, leading to the over-policing of minority voices online.
A new study out of Cornell reveals that the machine learning practices behind AI, which are designed to flag offensive online content, may actually "discriminate against the groups who are often the targets of the abuse we are trying to detect," according to the study abstract.
The study involved researchers training a system to flag tweets containing “hate speech,” in much the same way that other universities are developing systems for eventual online use, by using several databases of tweets, some of which had been flagged by human evaluators for offensive content.

Sessions Calls on Pelosi to Bring Impeachment Inquiry to a ‘Conclusion’
In a Monday interview with “Fox & Friends,” former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to bring the impeachment inquiry to a “conclusion.”
Sessions, a candidate for his old U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, said the impeachment probe is “not well-founded,” adding Pelosi is “wrong” to threaten President Donald Trump if he criticizes the Ukraine whistleblower’s identity remaining a secret.
“I think [Pelosi] needs to bring this thing to a conclusion,” Sessions stated. “It’s not well-founded to begin with, but just to pick fights with the president and try to make those kind of threats I think is wrong at this time for sure.”
The former attorney general went on to say it is “unthinkable” that the whistleblower’s name remains a secret if that person is indeed a witness.
