Shameless: This Is Why Ralph Northam Has Zero Moral Authority To Hold Special Session On Gun Contro

Well, if there is one thing about Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam, he has zero sense of shame. In fact, that could be directed at the entirety of Virginia’s executive branch. Last week, there was a horrific shooting at Virginia Beach, where a former city employee shot and killed 12 people. The motive is still being investigated, but he was not fired or forced out. For what we know now, the perpetrator, DeWayne Craddock, randomly opened fire on his former workers in a senseless act of violence (via NYT):

DeWayne Craddock, an engineer who had worked for the City of Virginia Beach for about 15 years, notified his superiors on Friday that he intended to quit.

Then at around 4 p.m., he embarked on a rampage in Building No. 2 of the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, turning its offices and corridors into a battleground. When it was over, 12 people lay dead and Mr. Craddock was fatally wounded.

As the authorities on Sunday shared a more detailed accounting of the siege, they also acknowledged for the first time that the gunman’s employment had been nearing its end. But they said he had not been forced to resign.

Rep. Harris Announces Maryland Coastal Bays Program Award

WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced an award of $70,000 to the Maryland Coastal Bays Program from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assistance Agreement. The EPA describes this program award as providing “funding for implementation of the EPA approved Maryland Coastal Bays Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act (CWA), which will help restore and maintain the water quality and ecological integrity of the Maryland Coastal Bays.”

Rep. Harris made the following statement:

“Keeping the Bay clean is one of my top priorities in representing Maryland’s First District. These funds will help improve water quality and preserve the ecological integrity that sustains the fishing, oystering, and other Bay jobs and activities that are part of our way of life on the Eastern Shore.”

Homeland Security Chief Tells Congress the Border Crisis Is ‘Unlike Anything We’ve Seen’

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan appeared before a Senate committee Tuesday and reiterated his requests for Congress to help fix the border crisis.

“It’s been over 18 months since the administration asked for the legislative fixes that would’ve prevented the current crisis, and 40 days since we asked for the emergency funding necessary to manage it,” McAleenan told members of the Senate Judiciary Committee during his opening remarks.

The Department of Homeland Security chief then broke down how the border crisis has only escalated since those requests were made.

“In the last 40 days, 60,000 children have entered into DHS custody—both unaccompanied and as part of family units. Last month, as you noted, Mr. Chairman, we encountered a modern record 144,000 border crossers, a record day of over 5,800 border crossings in a single 24-hour period, and the largest single group [ever] apprehended at our border—1,036 individuals,” McAleenan said.

Dover officer charged with manslaughter in 2018 crash

DOVER — A Dover Police officer was indicted on criminal charges last week in connection with a five-vehicle crash last year that left a 44-year-old Kenton woman dead and two others injured, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

According to Delaware State Police, Frederick J. Pierce, 29, of Magnolia, caused a chain-reaction crash on Sept. 8, 2018, when his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado struck a 2009 Ford Flex that was stopped/slowing in front of him.

The impact pushed a Ford Flex into the rear of a 2012 UPS truck, which then hit a 2008 Silverado that was pushed into the back of a 2017 Buick Envision.

Catina Isaacs, who was driving the Ford Flex, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

WH Press Secretary Sarah Sanders will leave office by the end of the month, Trump announces

President Trump announced Thursday on Twitter that White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders will be leaving her position at the end of the month.

"After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas," Trump said. "She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!"

The president has not yet named a replacement for the position.

The 36-year old Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee, worked on her father’s presidential campaign during the 2016 Republican primary until he dropped out of the race. She then joined the Trump campaign and, subsequently, the Trump administration as a White House communications aide. She was promoted to White House press secretary in 2017, after the president’s first top spokesman, Sean Spicer, resigned from the position.

Berlin Apartment Complex Plans Pass Planning Commission In 4-3 Vote

BERLIN – A controversial apartment project is expected to move forward on Route 346 after receiving approval from the Berlin Planning Commission.

After multiple meetings and lengthy discussion, the commission voted 4-3 Wednesday to approve changes to the Purnell Crossing planned unit development (PUD). The split vote came after several citizens voiced opposition to the project.

“This is a map to destroy what Berlin is now,” Austin Circle resident Wayne Harrison said.

In March, landowner Troy Purnell and builder Justin White presented plans to modify the Purnell Crossing PUD. Instead of the previously approved mix of townhomes and assisted living space, White presented plans for a variety of rental apartment buildings. Area residents voiced countless objections, and in the months since, White and Purnell have met with concerned neighbors and tweaked their proposal.

‘Every Child Needs’ campaign calls for items

Worcester County Youth and Family Services is calling for donations as part of its recently launched “Every Child Needs” campaign.

The organization requests towels, hygiene products, as well as bedding essentials: pillows, blankets, sheets, and pillowcases.

“We want to go forward as far as offering the basics, but then going forward as far as trying to get kids mattresses if they need them, beds if they need them so we’ll need to find additional community partners to accomplish that,” Debbie Smullen, project coordinator for the Every Child Needs Campaign, said.

Executive Director Steve Taylor said the program is mostly donation-based, but added the organization did receive a grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

Taylor said the inspiration behind the program began several months ago during the Young Professionals of Ocean City’s Christmas Spirit Shopping Campaign.

Fire White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, federal watchdog recommends

WASHINGTON — A federal watchdog agency on Thursday recommended that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway be fired for repeatedly violating a law that limits certain political activities of federal employees.

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel, which is unrelated to special counsel Robert Mueller's office, said Conway is a "repeat offender" of the Hatch Act by disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media.

Conway told reporters who encountered her in the White House press office, "I have no reaction."

White House spokesman Steven Groves called the watchdog agency's decision "unprecedented" and "deeply flawed" and said it violated Conway's constitutional rights to free speech and due process.

2 Days 2 Gun Stores in Maryland were Rammed By A Vehicle.

4 suspects considered armed, dangerous at large after deadly Rockville gun shop burglary

ROCKVILLE, Md. (ABC7) — One suspect is dead and four more possibly armed suspects are still at large after a burglary at a Rockville gun shop early Thursday morning, police said.

The incident happened around 2:35 a.m. in the 5400 block of Randolph Road where Montgomery County police say a vehicle rammed into United Gun Shop to break into the store. The suspects then fled in another vehicle, a white SUV, that struck an officer’s police cruiser, leading to the officer firing shots at the suspects.

After a short police chase, the white SUV became disabled and four of the suspects jumped out and took off on foot, according to police. The fifth suspect was found dead in the white SUV from an apparent gunshot wound.

 Stolen van rams Howard Co. gun shop, multiple guns stolen

FULTON, Md. (WBFF) - Police said someone rammed a stolen vehicle into a Howard County gun shop and stole multiple guns - and it happened right by a police station.

At about 2 a.m., police found someone had burglarized Fox's Firearms, on Scaggsville Road just off of Route 29 in the Fulton area, "by driving a vehicle through the front of the store," according to a police report.

"Police determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen," according to the report.

Radical Democrat Reads Letter On House Floor Calling Trump Supporters ‘Racist’ And ‘Dumb’

Rep. Marcia Fudge took to the House floor on Tuesday to read a letter from a constituent.

In a video posted by C-SPAN, Fudge said the letter came from the Rev. Ronald S. Williams, who the Washington Post identified as “the senior pastor and chief executive of Mount Zion Fellowship in Highland Hills, Ohio.”

“ ‘A mobster? A con man? A gangster in the White House? I think so,’ ” Fudge said. Then Fudge read what the pastor thinks about supporters of President Trump.

“ ‘It is glaringly apparent that many who support the president’s administration are either racists, steeped in religious beliefs, ignorant, or as my mother used to say, just plain dumb,’ ” Fudge said. “ ‘I believe the crooked ascension of Trump to the Oval Office is a gauge that measures the declining patriotic and moral values of the many citizens of America.’ ”

Fudge continued with the letter, in which the constituent said the Republican Party is like a “cult.”

Christian Cake Baker’s Attorney: 3rd Lawsuit Is ‘Rehash’ of ‘Old Claims’

A Colorado baker is being sued for a third time for refusing to design custom cakes that he says run contrary to his religious beliefs.

Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado—first sued in 2012 for declining to create a custom cake for a same-sex wedding because of his traditional Christian beliefs—is being sued again, this time for not baking a “birthday cake” to celebrate the gender transition of Autumn Scardina, who now identifies as a transgender woman, according to The Christian Post.

In June 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Phillips 7-2, holding that the Colorado Commission of Civil Rights—which had ruled that Phillips had discriminated unlawfully—demonstrated “clear and impermissible hostility” toward Phillips and his Christian belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, as The Daily Signal previously reported.

Supersonic speeds could cause big problems for the F-35′s stealth coating

At extremely high altitudes, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ versions of the F-35 jet [The $100 million-plus plane] can only fly at supersonic speeds for short bursts of time before there is a risk of structural damage and loss of stealth capability, a problem that may make it impossible for the Navy’s F-35C to conduct supersonic intercepts.

The Defense Department does not intend to field a fix for the problem, which influences not only the F-35’s airframe and the low-observable coating that keeps it stealthy, but also the myriad antennas located on the back of the plane that are currently vulnerable to damage, according to documents exclusively obtained by Defense News.

The F-35 Joint Program Office has classified the issues for the "B" and "C" models as separate category 1 deficiencies, indicating in one document that the problem presents a challenge to accomplishing one of the key missions of the fighter jet. In this scale, category 1 represents the most serious type of deficiency.

Both deficiencies were first observed in late 2011 following flutter tests where the F-35B and F-35C both flew at speeds of Mach 1.3 and Mach 1.4. During a post-flight inspection in November 2011, it was discovered the F-35B sustained “bubbling [and] blistering” of the stealth coating on both the right and left sides of the horizontal tail and the tail boom.

During similar tests of the F-35C in December 2011, “thermal damage” that compromised the structural integrity of the inboard horizontal tail and tail boom were apparent.

U.S. Cities Overwhelmed With Illegal Migrants From Ebola-Stricken Countries

Some U.S. cities are becoming overwhelmed with the number of illegal African migrants arriving from Ebola-stricken countries, with Portland Maine complaining that they are beyond capacity.

Large groups of migrants are arriving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been hit by one of the biggest ebola outbreaks in history, with 2,000 recorded cases in the last 10 months.

Border Patrol officials said that 500 people from African countries had been arrested by Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector in Texas alone in the six days after May 30.

Hundreds of the migrants are being sent to a city-owned shelter in San Francisco.

Dr Michael Ryan, the executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies program, told BBC News that the global spread of deadly diseases is becoming “a new normal” thanks to “large and highly mobile populations”.

At last week’s 75th Anniversary D-Day observance, after President Donald Trump delivered his remarks, Susan Eisenhower, by virtue of the fact that she’s the granddaughter of Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower, received some media attention. She offered some observations of her own about the young men who stormed the beaches of Normandy — young men who would earn the retrospective title of “The Greatest Generation.”

I was a bit distracted by her unscripted remarks near the American Cemetery because behind her was Barack Obama’s former secretary of state, John Kerry, who was mindlessly strolling over American graves.

Yes, Eisenhower, who claims to be a Republican, endorsed Obama and spoke on his behalf at the 2008 DNC convention. That doesn’t invalidate her remarks; it just means they are subject to varying degrees of circumspection. But to see Kerry walking across the sacred ground of American graves in France, given his traitorous record of providing aid and comfort to our enemy by meeting with the North Vietnamese in Paris when American negotiators were involved in peace talks — well, I hope you can understand why I was distracted.

What Susan Eisenhower said is this: “I think with respect to the courage that was shown here at Normandy, today we don’t have selflessness and self-sacrifice in our vocabulary. … There was a time when people were called upon to do things they didn’t necessarily want to do or couldn’t be spared to do. They reported for duty, they put their best selves in it and they discovered when they hit the beaches that they were more than they ever thought they could be.”

Indeed, some of their collegiate peers today would accuse them of “toxic masculinity.”

How Trump’s Women’s Initiative Advances ‘America First’ Agenda

You may not hear much in the media about it, but the Trump administration just announced a new initiative to support efforts to empower women worldwide.

It’s yet another example of how “America First” means advancing what matters to America.

In this case, it means “protecting the United States and promoting global peace and stability by enhancing women’s leadership in efforts to prevent conflict, stem terrorism, and promote security around the world,” the administration said of the program, which helps empower women to deal with peace, security, and disaster response issues.

It means acknowledging that “women provide essential contributions to forging lasting solutions to conflict, terrorism, and crisis—yet their perspectives and leadership are too often untapped.”

Private border wall group ordered to keep gate OPEN

The builders of a private border wall in New Mexico have been ordered by an international agency to keep a gate permanently open.

According to a report in Buzzfeed, the half-mile wall near Sunland Park cut off official access to a levee and a dam and public access to Monument One, a series of obelisks marking the U.S.-Mexico border.

The We Build the Wall barrier also featured a gate built on about 33 feet of federal property without proper advance permission.

“This is normally done well in advance of a construction project,” said Lori Kuczmanski, a spokeswoman for the International Boundary and Water Commission, which handles waterway issues between the U.S. and Mexico. “They think they can build now and ask questions later, and that’s not how it works.”

Commission officials propped open that gate in response earlier this week, to preserve public access and, by extension, making the wall easy to breach.

“We’re going to lock it in an open position until we come into a mutual decision on how this gate is going to operate,” Ms. Kuczmanski told Buzzfeed.

‘Columbia University has always been a site of anti-Black racism and violence’

It looks like Harvard University isn’t the only Ivy League school where student activists believe that working in the criminal justice system is grounds for exclusion from campus life.

Less than a month after Harvard removed Ronald Sullivan as faculty dean of Winthrop House – for representing disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein in his criminal trial – Columbia University’s black student activists are trying to remove another law faculty member for prosecuting defendants.

A Change.org petition by the Black Students’ Organization has almost 10,000 signatures. It was prompted by the new Netflix documentary When They See Us, which tells the story of four black and one Hispanic teenagers who were prosecuted for the rape and attempted murder of a white woman in New York City in 1989.

ADAMS: Letter To A Hateful Feminist

I hope you will forgive me for writing you this open letter, which will likely be read by thousands before you open it and realize that it is about you. Given that you have now graduated from UNC-Wilmington, I could not send it to your university email account, which has now been closed. Nor could I have sent you this letter prior to your graduation. Had I done so, you would have surely claimed that the reasoned criticism it contains somehow violates Title IX or some other obscure university policy.

Now that you are out in the real world, I wish to address your conduct toward me when you saw me last fall at the Starbucks on College Road next to the university. As you probably recall, you approached me after seeing the “I Hate Mike Adams” bumper sticker on the back of my computer. You gleefully asked me where you could get one and I told you that I had plenty in my office. When I offered to give you one free of charge, you acted surprised. After you regained your composure, you asked if I was Mike Adams. When I responded in the affirmative, you made it abundantly clear that you oppose my work as a free speech advocate. With no sense of irony, you even asked me why I spend my time engaging in and also defending “hate speech.”

As much as I appreciated your admission that you read my columns and follow my work, I wished you had started reading them earlier. Had you done so, you would have realized that the “I Hate Mike Adams” bumper sticker was a prank initiated by my good friend Jimmy Weaver who now lives in Arizona. After seeing a video of dozens of members of the Amherst communist party protest my speech at UMASS-Amherst, he decided to print up the bumper stickers as a hoax. Specifically, he thought that we could trick future communist protestors into buying them from me without knowing that I would be the one pocketing their money. I told Jimmy that I thought it would not work but he printed off 1000 stickers for me anyway free of charge. Fortunately, I was wrong and Jimmy was right.
