In a major restructuring, Time Inc. is eliminating about 300 jobs in the U.S. and abroad, as the country's largest magazine publisher sharpens its focus on digital media and video opportunities.
The job cuts and buyouts will affect 4% of the company's employees, which numbered about 7,450 at the end of December. The streamlining will involve print magazines, corporate and sales, with more than half of the employees affected based in the U.S.
The restructuring comes less than two months after Time Inc.'s board decided not to sell the company and ended talks with potential suitors.
"We're re-engineering our entire cost structure," said Rich Battista, chief executive, in an interview. "We're trying to be as nimble and efficient as possible, and get this process moving."

US Retail Sales in May are weakest in 16 Months
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — U.S. retailers in May reported the biggest decline in sales in 16 months, largely owing to lower gasoline prices and fewer Americans buying new cars and trucks.
Sales at retailers nationwide sank 0.3% last month, the biggest drop since January 2016, the government reported Wednesday. The May sales report was generally weak across the board.
Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast flat sales in May.

Furious Trump Lashes Out In Afternoon Tweetstorm
An increasingly furious President Trump has taken to twitter this afternoon to express his outrage, in a way only the President can, over the thinly veiled double standard within the U.S. intelligence community and mainstream media over how they basically ignored the Hillary Clinton email scandal while endlessly pursuing his administration without being able to present a single shred of tangible evidence that any wrongdoing ever occurred.

Of course, he seems to have a point on this one. Last summer, we reported fairly extensively on the Hillary email scandal while it was virtually glossed over by the mainstream media.
And, like many people, we were astonished when FBI Director Comey made the unilateral assessment that, despite Hillary's "extreme carelessness," no "reasonable" prosecutor would bring charges against her.

Wicomico’s Pilot Health Program Called ‘Promising Practice’
SALISBURY – Officials from various government entities met last month to recognize a program’s successful efforts to reduce the number of overdoses and lead individuals to treatment.
Wicomico County’s Community Outreach Addictions Team (COAT) was recently designated as a Promising Practice from the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ National Connection for Local Public Health.
The COAT program is a pilot program run through the Wicomico County Health Department and partners with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office and more to help those that are addicted or have overdosed find treatment.
County Executive Bob Culver said Wicomico County Health Officer Lori Brewster and former state’s attorney and current Circuit Court Judge Matt Maciarello approached him last spring with an outline for the COAT program to target the rising number of overdoses in the county.

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Treasury hauled in $240,418,000,000 in total taxes in the month of May, setting a record for inflation-adjusted tax revenues for that month of the year, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement released this week.
Despite these record revenues, however, the federal government still ran a deficit of $88,426,000,000 in May—because it spent $328,844,000,000 in the month.
In the first eight months of fiscal 2017 (October through May), the federal government hauled in $2,169,160,000,000 in total taxes and spent $2,602,013,000,000—thus, running a deficit of $432,853,000,000. Fiscal 2017 will end on Sept. 30, 2017.
Prior to this year, fiscal 2006 held the record for most federal taxes collected in the month of May. That year, the Treasury collected $232,837,160,000 (in constant 2017 dollars) during May.

It was reported as a damaging day for the White House, but the frank, dramatic admission by fired FBI DirectorJames B. Comey last week about how he managed to put his confidential conversations with President Trump on the front page of the nation’s newspapers has some legal experts saying Mr. Comey may be in trouble himself over unauthorized leaking.
Critics of Mr. Comey say his calculated formulation and leak of the memos through a third party suggest his actions were part of a deliberate and vendetta-driven plot — crossing dangerous lines regarding the classification of government documents and FBI conduct. They say Mr. Comey should be investigated too.
While they’ve mentioned possible violations of the Espionage Act, or prosecutable breaches of FBI protocol, the real point of controversy centers on Mr. Comey’s admission that he leaked his memos to “prompt the appointment of a special counsel” — which happened soon after the substance of his memos went public. Amanda Twilley Obituary
Despite her 9 year long fight with cancer, her ambition and love for life never stopped. Amanda was the most determined and courageous person you would ever meet. She continued going to college and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Salisbury University in 2014. Along with earning her degree she was a valuable employee with Ameriprise Financial. She loved learning about stocks and helping people plan for their future.
Amanda had such a love for life and all it had to offer, including family trips to St. Maarten, her four rescued cats, memorable nights, trips and adventures with her friends, and all of her treasured family. Anyone that knows Amanda will remember her by her positive attitude, courage, compassion, witty humor and sassy personality.
Amanda peacefully joined her brother, Justin; cousin, Ryan Twilley; maternal grandparents, Albert and Ruth Ruark and paternal grandparents, Floyd and Ruth Twilley.
In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by her sister and husband, Mallory & Lance Jones; niece, Hayley; nephew, Cole; Aunt and Uncle, Phyllis & Victor Twilley; cousin, Megan Baker and her husband, Gus and their daughter, Hallie.
A celebration of life for Amanda will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at her family home (31873 York Dr., Salisbury, MD 21804). Her family would like for her loved ones to come and go as they wish on Saturday to remember Amanda in bright casual attire. Amanda would want everyone to remember her by living every day with her mantra “Carpe Diem”.

A Georgia sheriff accused of exposing himself in an Atlanta park and running from a police officer has been suspended for 40 days.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal issued an executive order Monday suspending DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann from duty, starting Tuesday.
Mann was arrested after a police officer allegedly saw him masturbating in Piedmont Park on May 6. Mann is said to have flashed his private parts and then led the bike cop on a foot chase through Midtown Atlanta before he was finally apprehended, according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

All of these things are indispensable.
