POLL: Hogan's Approval Rating Highest For Md. Governor ...
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — Maryland voters stand by their man. Governor Hogan’s approval rating is the highest for a governor since 1998. That’s according to The Washington Post and University
of Maryland poll released Wednesday.
Nearly two-thirds of Marylander polled — 66 percent — approve of the job he’s doing.
Political reporter Pat Warren asked voters what they think of that.
It may be sour grapes, but some Democrats don’t want to believe it.

Subject: 2 men charged with kidnapping, raping 12-year-old girl in Maryland
On Wednesday, Montgomery County Police arrested 24-year-old Enrique Carbajal and 19-year-old Victor Tome, who are rommates at a Wheaton apartment.
Police say Carbajal is an acquaintance of the 12-year-old girl's family.
Police say Carbajal and Tome met the girl on March 26 in Washington without the girl's parent's permission.
D.C. Police say they have charged Carbajal with first-degree child sexual abuse for what allegedly happened at the spot where they met, which was in the 5100 block of 8th St. NW.

No winner in Pocomoke election
Before the elections last Tuesday, City Clerk Carol Sullivan said results would only take 15 to 30 minutes before they were posted online, and she’d have been right too, if a discrepancy hadn’t surfaced.
As of Wednesday morning and press time, no winner had been declared in an election where 132 total votes were cast. The problem, according to City Manager and City Attorney Ernie Crofoot, is only 127 votes were counted.
Incumbent George Tasker faced Sheila Nelson for the District 1 seat, while Diane Downing, who works for Worcester County, secured her third term in office representing District 2.

OCPD Asking for Assistance in Vending Machine Thefts
OCEAN CITY, MD – The Ocean City Police Department is asking for assistance from the public regarding multiple vending machine thefts over the last several days.
On April 4, 2016, at approximately 8:25 a.m. Ocean City police took a report for thefts from a total of eight Coca-Cola vending machines. These vending machines were located on several floors of the Dunes Manor Hotel (specifically the 2nd through 5th floors and 7th through 10th floors), located at 2800 Baltimore Avenue.
In all, approximately $1,300 in cash was stolen from the vending machines, and approximately $8,000 in damage was reported. According to a Coca-Cola representative, these machines were last serviced on February 23. However, the hotel guests began making complaints about the damaged machines between April 2 and April 4.
It should be noted that another Coca-Cola vending machine was broken into between 11 p.m. on April 1, and 9:30 a.m. on April 2 at 3305 Coastal Highway. The bill collector was damaged with a pry tool; however, this machine was not stocked and did not contain any cash. Due to the location of this vending machine being in close proximity to the Dunes Manor Hotel, there is a strong likelihood that these two incidents were committed by the same suspect(s).
No surveillance footage was captured during any of the vending machine thefts and there is no suspect information at this time. Anyone with information regarding these thefts is asked to contact Pfc. Kory Moerschel at kmoerschel@oceancitymd.gov.

OCPD Looking Out for Distracted Drivers during National Texting Enforcement Crackdown
OCEAN CITY, MD – From April 8-13, 2016, law enforcement personnel will be using a combination of traditional and innovative strategies to crack down on motorists who text while driving. The national U Drive. U Text. U Pay. high-visibility enforcement campaign had two goals: conduct strict enforcement of anti-texting laws, and couple these efforts with advertising, media, and social media outreach to let drivers know about the enforcement and convince them to obey the law.
“Driving and texting is not only dangerous and irresponsible-it’s illegal and can be very costly to violators,” said Chief Ross Buzzuro. “When you text while driving, you take your eyes off the road, hands off the wheel and mind off the task of driving which puts yourself and others at risk.”
In 2014, an estimated 3,179 people were killed and an additional 431,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. Additionally, the percentage of drivers text-messaging or visibly using handheld devices increased in recent years. Young drivers (ages 16 to 24) have been observed using handheld devices at higher rates than older drivers.

The Shocking New Census Question Lawmakers Are Pushing: Do you agree?
A bipartisan group of lawmakers is calling on the federal government to start counting the number of homosexuals living in the United States.
The group of nearly 80 lawmakers wrote a letter to a House Appropriations subcommittee on Tuesday, asking the U.S. Census Bureau to survey people about their sexual orientation and gender identity. Specifically, the legislators are asking the committee, which oversees the Census Bureau, to support the additional data collection as part of the fiscal 2017 appropriations bill.

A private school in Arizona is staking out a position on illegal immigration: they're for it. If you send your kids there, you'll be for it too, whether you like it or not. As Fox News notes:
A private college in Arizona is charging all students a mandatory fee to fund a scholarship for illegal immigrants, a controversial move supporters say gives a hand to those who need it but anti-illegal immigration advocates call irresponsible.
Prescott College is tacking a $30 annual fee onto its $28,000 annual tuition to establish an annual scholarship for “undocumented” students, as part of a policy first proposed by students and faculty from the undergraduate and Social Justice and Human Rights Master of Arts divisions. Backers say it helps reverse what they call Arizona’s reputation as a “national example of discriminatory politics.”
“I am proud that our students take on the role of scholar activists,” said school President John Flicker, adding that the university is committed to “broaden access to higher education for a diverse group of students” and “mobilize its resources towards social justice.”
This is the state of the American academy. Perhaps next Prescott will sponsor a scholarship for convicted shoplifters and say they're taking a stand against our repressive capitalist society.
The United States is a nation. A nation has borders, and one of the primary responsibilities of the federal government is to enforce those borders. One political party thinks the government has more important things to do, like investing millions of dollars to figure out why lesbians are obese, or watching baseball with totalitarians. While a large majority of immigrants do happen to be non-white, this isn't about racism, it's about the maintenance of a society based on the rule of law, and not the whims of the powerful. By imposing this surcharge on its students, Prescott University is telling your children, should you choose to send them there, that the law doesn't matter.

Rudy Giuliani: Between Trump and Cruz, 'I'd Vote for Trump'
Former New York Mayor and 2008 Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, who hasn’t yet endorsed a candidate, said if it came down to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump versus, he would vote for Trump.
“If it came down to Trump or Cruz, there is no question I’d vote for Trump,” Giuliani, who was mayor during the 9-11 terrorist attack, said. “As a party, we’d have a better chance of winning with him, and I think a lot of Republicans look at it that way.”
The statement comes as The Washington Post is reporting that the GOP establishment is “learning to live with” the fact that Trump is likely to become the Republican Party’s nominee and even seeing “an upside to Trump as the nominee.”
“This warming toward Trump comes after establishment favorites such as of Florida, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have failed to reach the top tier,” reports The Washington Post’s Robert Costa, Philip Rucker, and David Fahrenthold.

Illegal immigrant's deadly crash not a 'crime of violence,' ICE says
An illegal immigrant -- who police said was drunk while street racing when he killed a Nebraska woman in a car crash -- wasn’t detained by immigration officials because his offense did “not constitute a crime of violence,” the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said in a March letter to Congress.
Edwin Mejia, 19, is accused of being drunk and driving recklessly when his vehicle slammed into 21-year-old Sarah Root’s car in January.
Root died at the hospital. Mejia later posted bond and fled. He’s been added to ICE’s “Most Wanted” list.
“Mr. Mejia should not need to be on this list – he should be in jail,” Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., said in a March 30 statement. “ICE originally said that Mr. Mejia was not an ‘enforcement priority,’ but this morning he was placed on their Most Wanted list. The public still does not have a complete account of what went wrong.”
Border agents first encountered Mejia in May 2013 when the 16-year-old arrived in Nogales, Ariz., from Honduras and was designated as an unaccompanied child.

Indiana University Students Mistake Priest for KKK Member
On Monday, students at Indiana University Bloomington mistook a priest for a Ku Klux Klan member, taking to social media to express their fear of the alleged Klansman, who they claimed was carrying a whip, and dressed in “white robes.”
Rumors of a Klansman on campus were extinguished after it was pointed out that the passerby was actually a priest innocently making his way through Bloomington, Indiana. When sighted on campus, students thought his white robes indicated an affiliation with the KKK.

GOP RACE: Trump Needs 56% of Remaining Delegates, Cruz Needs 81% – An Impossibility
Based on current delegate counts and poll numbers Ted Cruz will be mathematically unable to reach the delegate count required for him to win the Republican Presidential nomination.
Donald Trump still leads Cruz by over 200 delegates.
