5 Things To Know: FAA Task Force Recommends A Drone Registry
The Consumer Technology Association forecasts that 400,000 drones will be sold in the United States this holiday season. That's not to mention the commercial drones being developed by Google (now known as Alphabet), Amazon, Wal-Mart and others.
In the face of this drone proliferation, the Federal Aviation Administration called a special task force to develop a way to get a grip on all the drones in the sky. The task force is now recommending that the government set up a simple registration system for anyone who owns an unmanned aircraft heavier than 250 grams, which is about half a pound.
Here are a few key things about the recommendations and recreational drone flying:

A government watchdog says the Department of Homeland Security can't say for sure whether its system to detect a biological terror attack actually works.
In a report released Monday, the Government Accountability Office says the BioWatch system has issued dozens of false alarms since its introduction. It recommends that Homeland Security, which oversees the system, hold off any upgrades until the department can be sure of BioWatch's current capabilities.
The BioWatch system was implemented in 2003, two years after five people died and 20 others were sickened by letters containing anthrax spores. The system involves aerosol collectors deployed in 30 U.S. cities, including on top of buildings and in subways and airports. Personnel remove filters from each of the detectors and check them for the presence of airborne pathogens, a process that can take up to 36 hours. The program operated with an $87 million budget last year, according to the GAO.
Homeland Security has proposed replacing the manual detectors with a more automated system — what it calls a lab-in-a-box — that would reduce detection time to six hours.
But the GAO says Homeland Security hasn't developed performance requirements to adequately test the current system and is unable to "draw conclusions about the system's ability to detect attacks."

Trump takes heat for tweet about black murder rates
The tweet was apparently Trump’s response to a Twitter thread about support from white supremacists for the GOP front-runner.
It also comes the day after a Black Lives Matter protester said he was physically and verbally assaulted at a Trump rally.
The image Trump posted includes a list of “USA Crime Statistics ~ 2015.” The two that are highlighted are “Blacks Killed by Police ~~ 1%” and “Blacks Killed by Blacks ~~ 97%.”

Poll: 1 In 5 Americans Trusts The Government
Only 19 percent of Americans — about 1 in 5 — say they trust the government "always or most of the time," according to a study released by the Pew Research Center on Monday. Yet clear majorities also favor the government taking "a major role" in fighting terrorism, responding to natural disasters, keeping food and drugs safe, protecting the environment, strengthening the economy and improving education.
Despite this desire for government services, Americans are clearly dissatisfied with the level of service they feel they receive. Three out of four, 74 percent, say public officials put their own interests ahead of the nation's. And a majority, 55 percent, say ordinary Americans would "do a better job of solving problems" than the people whose job it is to do so.

Berlin Angler Sets Maryland Coastal White Perch Record
On November 17, Finn McCabe from Berlin pulled in a record-setting 1.2-pound, 13-inch white perch from Ayers Creek as the sun began to set over the Route 376 Bridge west of Sinepuxent Bay and Assateague Island.
McCabe was originally hoping for a striped bass or speckled trout when he caught the perch using a green twister tail lure on a quarter-ounce jig head.
He put the perch, one of the state’s most popular fish, on ice, and the following day took it to Sunset Marina in Ocean City for an official weigh-in. From there, he visited a nearby Maryland Department of Natural Resources field office, where fisheries biologist Steve Doctor certified the species.
Following the formal application and certification process, the department was able to announce the catch as a new state record in the Maryland Atlantic division.
When asked what he intended to do with the fish, McCabe said, “I’m thinking some butter, and grilling it on the George Foreman.”
The Department of Natural Resources maintains records for sport fish in three divisions—Atlantic, Chesapeake and nontidal—and sends plaques to record holders. Anglers who catch a potential record fish should call 443-569-1381 or 410-260-8325, and immerse the fish in ice until it can be weighed at a seafood retailer, grocery store, or tackle shop with a certified scale. All International Game Fish Association rules for records and Maryland fishing regulations apply.

FCC Quick to Threaten Fines, But Slow to Enforce and Collect Them
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed fines totaling hundreds of millions of dollars over the last two years, but hasn't collected a penny of that money, and several lawmakers, including Oregon Republican Rep. Greg Walden, want to know why.
"If an enormous fine is announced and it's never prosecuted, it makes you wonder what's the purpose?" Walden, who chairs the House Telecom Subcommittee told Politico.
"The question is, are they just after headlines or some sort of performance metric? I don't know."
The fines have included $100 million against AT&T this summer for throttling unlimited data plans, roughly $100 million against a dozen companies for charges they defrauded the Lifeline phone subsidy program, and $35 million against a Chinese company that was selling illegal wireless jamming equipment.
Companies have up to 30 days to either pay or challenge a fine, but still, the FCC's collections process is cumbersome, and the fine isn't officially due until the investigation is completed, which can take years.

Emails Show DOD Analysts Told to 'Cut It Out' on ISIS Warnings
Analysts at U.S. Central Command were pressured to ease off negative assessments about the Islamic State threat and were even told in an email to “cut it out,” Fox News has learned – as an investigation expands into whether intelligence reports were altered to present a more positive picture.
Fox News is told by a source close to the CENTCOM analysts that the pressure on them included at least two emails saying they needed to “cut it out” and “toe the line.”
Separately, a former Pentagon official told Fox News there apparently was an attempt to destroy the communications. The Pentagon official said the email warnings were "not well received" by the analysts.
Those emails, among others, are now in the possession of the Pentagon inspector general. The IG’s probe is expanding into whether intelligence assessments were changed to give a more positive picture of the anti-ISIS campaign.
The former Pentagon official said there were “multiple assessments” from military intelligence and the CIA regarding the “rapid rise” of ISIS in Iraq and North Africa in the year leading up to the group’s territory grab in 2014.

Strong armed robbery at the Wal-Mart on Rt. 50 in Berlin
On 11/20/2015 at 9:27 PM, Troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to a strong armed robbery at the Wal-Mart on Rt. 50 in Berlin. Troopers made contact with a female victim who informed troopers she was at the Red Box in the entrance of the Wal-Mart when an unknown black male grabbed her purse from her shopping cart and ran into the parking lot. The victim chased the suspect through the parking lot where the suspect got into the passenger side of a teal hatchback passenger car. The victim reached in the vehicle from the driver side and grabbed her purse from the suspect. During the struggle for the purse, the victim was punched in the face by the suspect. The vehicle then fled the scene.
The victim told police the vehicle was driven by a heavyset white female, with brownish/dirty blonde hair pulled in a ponytail. The suspect is described as a black male believed to be in the late 30’s possibly 40’s, tall with a thin build, wearing thick black frame glasses and a baseball style cap. The vehicle is described as a teal blue two door hatchback, possibly a Geo Metro.
Through investigation, Detectives with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigations were able to identify the female suspect as Karen J Landon of Snow Hill, MD and the male suspect as Edward Brad Ward Jr. of Crisfield, MD. On 11/23/2015, Detectives with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigations along with the Maryland State Warrant Apprehension Team located and arrested Landon in Worcester County, MD, Landon was held on $9500.00 bond. Ward was located in Wicomico County and arrested without incident. Ward was held without bond. Both Ward and Landon were charged with Robbery and related charges.

Obama Quietly Releases Plans For 2,224 Regulations Ahead Of Turkey Day
President Barack Obama’s Unified Agenda for Fall 2015 is his administration’s regulatory road map and lays out thousands of regulations being finalized in the coming months. Obama has developed a habit of releasing the agenda late on Friday before a major holiday.
Indeed, Obama’s Spring 2015 agenda detailing the status of more than 2,300 regulations was released the eve of Memorial Day weekend. Obama’s Fall 2014 agenda featuring more than 3,400 regulations was also released the Friday before Thanksgiving.

(CNSNews) - President Barack Obama, speaking at a town hall meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday, criticized the United States of America for telling other people to do what Americans fail to do themselves, for “growing inequality,” and because “our political system does not work as well as it should.”
The U.S. president was speaking to a group of people associated with the Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative, a program run by the U.S. State Department.
The State Department’s 2014 Country Report on Human Rights in Malaysia—published this year—cited the country in which Obama was speaking for limiting the freedoms of speech and religion and for allowing “Islamic authorities” to enter people’s homes without warrants.
“The most significant human rights problems included government restrictions on freedom of expression - including speech, assembly, association, and media,” said the State Department report on Malaysia.

American and European politicians are wasting time trying to keep Syrian refugees out of their countries instead of focusing on the real problem, ISIS, says former Clinton administration official Amed Khan.
Khan, now president of New York-based private investment company Paradigm Global Group, is a seasoned veteran of refugee crises. A former official at the Peace Corps, he was Chief Administrator for the International Rescue Committee relief efforts for Rwandan and Burundi refugees in Tanzania.
"The stories that you get from individuals, they boggle the mind," Khan said. "A woman, whose two adult sons were killed by ISIS, told me yesterday that she was in her kitchen frying something — and she said ISIS, when they get bored, they just start firing."
"She got hit in the hip by a bullet. So, she picked up her granddaughter and said: 'You know, we have been in this for four years. We have lost everything, let's get out of here.'"
About 50 percent of the refugees he's seen have been women and children, Khan said, and most don't want to come to the United States.
They do, however, want the U.S. and its allies to destroy ISIS and "finish the war" that started in 2003 with the invasion of Iraq.
"I don't know how many hundreds of refugees I've talked to and they say: 'Look, you started this war. Go back and finish it. Wipe out ISIS — and I want to go back home.'"

British Movie Theaters Bar Lord's Prayer Ad
Major theater chains in Great Britain are refusing to show a Church of England advertisement promoting the Lord's Prayer, the Daily Mail reports.
The church said no policy barring religious advertising existed when it began trying to put the one-minute ad on screens before movies, and it was approved by the British Board of Film Classification and the Cinema Advertising Authority.
The Digital Cinema Media agency, which runs advertising for Odeon, Cineworld, and Vue theaters, has refused to show it, however, saying it could cause offense.
The ad shows various people, including bodybuilders and children, reciting the New Testament prayer of Jesus.
The church asked for a copy of the policy disallowing the ad, but was told there wasn't a formal document – just an agreement between DCM's members.
