Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel says that schools, subways will be closed because of a “serious and imminent” threat, as Brussels spends its second day under the highest threat level and the manhunt continues for a suspect missing since the Nov. 13 attacks in France.

Hundreds of ID badges that let airport workers roam the nation's busiest hub have been stolen or lost in the last two years, an NBC News investigation has found.
While experts say the missing tags are a source of concern because they could fall into the wrong hands, officials at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport insist they don't pose "a significant security threat."
The wayward badges came to light when NBC-DFW asked airports across the country to reveal how many of them were unaccounted for. Only one, Atlanta, provided numbers before the Transportation Security Administration blocked the release of more data.
But at that single airport, where almost 60,000 people work, some 1,400 badges that allow employees to access secure areas like runways and boarding gates have gone missing over roughly two years.
"It's very, very serious. Without question," said Larry Wansley, who headed corporate security for American Airlines until 2004 and still consults for airports.

Local Salisbury Golden Corral At It Again: UPDATE, Post Goes Viral AGAIN
On more than one occasion an employee, Caroline White, was called in for an extra, unscheduled shift as they were shorthanded for whatever reason. This resulted in Caroline being on the clock for more than forty hours in that week, requiring any hours over the forty to be paid at an overtime rate of time and a half. Not only was Caroline not paid the overtime rate, she was not paid even straight time rate, because there is a policy at the restaurant that forbids employees from earning overtime. This happened on 3 occasions that I am aware of, and if it happened to Caroline, it likely happened to others as well.
Do you at corporate headquarters have ANY idea the laws that were broken in these instances? Caroline remained silent at the time for fear of retribution, as she felt she needed to remain employed there until she found other employment, which she has and is no longer employed with your company.
On another occasion, there was to be a an inspection of the restaurant. Employees were working late in the evening to clean for this inspection. Caroline was asked by someone in authority (I'm assuming it was the GM, Jenny Lopez) to go for coffee and donuts from the local Dunkin Donuts. She did, paid for the coffee and donuts out of her own pocket, but was never reimbursed for the purchase. Is it routine Golden Corral policy to conduct business this way to strengthen the bottom line?
I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that there is a local blog site that is extremely popular in Salisbury. I have already sent this information to that blog site, who's owner is a friend of mine, urging the good people of Salisbury, MD to consider this mistreatment of a 17 year old college student by Golden Corral, Salisbury, MD, before they would darken the doorway of your restaurant again.

In a racially divided Maryland town, a new black police chief takes charge
Most of the diners are white. William “Bill” Harden Sr., who has been on the job for about a month, is black. He pauses at the door, wearing his black uniform with gold buttons and stars and a hat embroidered in gold with the city’s emblem and the word “Chief.”
Harden, 65, knows people in Pocomoke City are still getting to know him — and still getting over what led to him being hired.

Gains Hawkins just can't "get over it"
Mr. Hawkins, a member (along with Laura Mitchell) of the Wicomico County Democratic Central Committee, was Treasurer of Rick Pollitt's campaign committee – the "Friends of Rick." Since the election, he has published periodic epistles in, would you believe, the Daily Times trashing Bob Culver by putting him in a false light. Now that it has become clear, beyond any valid doubt, that the voters chose wisely in electing him and defeating Pollitt, Hawkins has become increasingly asinine in his attack.
In a recent piece, he portrays an imaginary “Culliverland,” in which a malicious "emperor" is posited as the perpetrator of evil and unethical actions. Replete with sophomoric plagiarism ("Once upon a time, a short, short time ago"), the piece suggests the arrival of a "New Day" – bet you can’t figure that one out – that makes it all better, maybe.
Hawkins continues to boil in his witches’ brew of venom and vituperation over the rejection of his pal Pollitt and other local Democrats – Conway, Brown, Mitchell, Hastings -- by Wicomico County voters. He must be blind to the fact that Salisbury has experienced the very same "New Day" with nothing to show. And he is certainly blind to (or unwilling to acknowledge) the remarkable and much needed change for the better in Wicomico County government during Bob Culver's first year as the County Executive.
Surely, as Wicomico County (with the exception of Salisbury) continues to improve and recover from years of Democrat rule, Hawkins will continue to publish his BS in a forum that thrives by selling such drivel to the low information voters.

Retired City Police Officer Found Not Guilty Of Killing Dog
The verdict was handed down this morning in the case of retired Baltimore City Police Officer Jeffery Bolger.
He was accused of slitting the throat of a shar-pei named Nala, after the dog bit a pregnant woman.
The defense argued the officer acted in self defense, but prosecutors say the officer had no reason for his actions because it was already contained.

Dad Tells Cops They Need a Warrant to Search His Home, so They Kick in His Door & Kill Him
Spring Lake, NC — Three children lost their father Sunday after deputies with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, looking for a different man, shot and killed him.
John Livingston, 33, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday as police were conducting an assault investigation. Police were not looking for Livingston, and the entire situation could have been avoided had they come back with a warrant like Livingston requested.
Livingston’s roommate, Clayton Carroll told WNCN that he was shot multiple times during the altercation with officers who had no right to be there in the first place.
According to Carroll, deputies began knocking on the door around 3:30 am as they were looking for someone who no longer lived in the home. When Deputies asked Livingston if they could search his home, Livingston said “not without a search warrant,” according to Carroll.
Livingston then shut the door.
Having a man assert his fourth amendment right to be secure in his property was apparently too much for the deputy to handle.
“The cop kicked in the door, got on top of him, started slinging him around beat him…” Carroll said.

Another Business Succumbs to Salisbury
In these four years we have met so many caring, wonderful individuals, couples and families—including pets. We have made so many friends. There have been weddings, wedding receptions, bridal showers, birthdays, tea parties, graduation celebrations, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. Our goal has been to provide a place that was an extension of our home - a place where strangers could become friends and feel welcome. We set high standards for everything we prepared, always putting quality first.
During this time, there have been many changes in our family.
Rachel and Rebekah are both in nursing school; Danielle and Eliana are in high school; Erin is a PA and Alex is a Pharmacist; Penny is a Clinical Instructor of Nursing and Kevin has a growing business that he owns and operates. It became obvious that we could no longer invest the time needed to maintain our goals.

After many hours of family discussions and reluctance to let go of what has been such an important part of our lives, we have decided it is time to move forward and close the Coffeehouse. The last day we will be open is November 29th. We would like to take this time to thank our amazing staff and wish them the very best.
