A Republican will win the presidential election next year, according to a computer model projection by Reuters.
Two factors weighed heavily in the model's conclusion, one of them being dissatisfaction with President Obama.
First, there's a historical trend of voters not backing the party in power when the incumbent isn't up for re-election. Reuters said a successor candidate is three times less likely to win.
Second, the model found that a sitting president generally must have an approval rating of 55% for a successor candidate to win, and right now President Obama falls 10 points short of that.
So why trust a computer when we have non-stop polling to tell us who leads the pack?
Because polls are actually pretty inaccurate, according to Reuters, and on average are wrong by 8% compared to the outcome of an election. That's a wider gap than you often see between candidates in the general election.

MIKULSKI, CARDIN ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $64 MILLION IN FEDERAL ENERGY ASSISTANCE FUNDING FOR LOW-INCOME MARYLAND FAMILIES
“No family should be forced to choose between paying the heating bill and putting food on the table,” Senator Mikulski said. “Too many people are being stretched and stressed by high energy costs. This critical energy assistance for low income families will help those most in need care for themselves and their families as winter approaches.”
“LIHEAP is an indispensable lifeline for the most vulnerable among us. Seniors facing economic hardships and low-income families never should have to make grim choices over which basic necessities they can afford, and LIHEAP helps ensure that they never reach this point,” said Senator Cardin. “I want struggling Marylanders to know that they have strong federal partners to provide the assistance they need, and I appreciate the responsiveness of the Department of Health and Human Services to our requests that this funding be made available.”
In October, Senators Mikulski and Cardin along with 37 bipartisan Senate colleagues sent a letter to Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell requesting the funding be made available. That letter is available here.
Eligibility for LIHEAP is based on income, family size, and the availability of resources.

Maryland officials lending reflective vests for Halloween
The State Highway Administration will be lending out reflective vests at highway maintenance shops across the state, as part of the annual Vests for Visibility Program.
The vests are designed to be worn over clothing — or costumes — and help increase pedestrians’ visibility.
The vests will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at most SHA maintenance facilities, during the days leading up to the holiday. They may be picked up between Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The vests must be returned by Friday, Nov. 6.

Prisoner injured in police vehicle crash in Baltimore
BALTIMORE (AP) — A prisoner was injured in a car accident while being transported in a police vehicle in Baltimore.
Police say the accident occurred just before 4 a.m. on Sunday when the officer, traveling southbound in the 4600 block of Sinclair Lane, struck a Pontiac making a left turn.
Police say the 50-year-old prisoner, who was wearing a seatbelt in the back of the police vehicle, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police say neither the officer nor the driver of the Pontiac was injured in the crash.

Worcester County Homicide Under Investigation
(Pocomoke City, MD) – Police continue to search for a known suspect as Maryland State Police continue their investigation into the murder of a Worcester County man this afternoon in Pocomoke City.
The victim is identified as Derrick Collick, 25, of the 200 block of 10th Street, Pocomoke City, Md. His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The accused is identified as Kaniesha Johnson, 22, (pictured below) of the unit block of Bradley Court in Pocomoke City, Maryland. Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson and a search is currently underway. Police have obtained a photo and are asking for public assistance in locating her. Calls are being taken by Worcester County Bureau of Investigation at 410-632-1111.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m. today, officers from the Pocomoke City Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic dispute at a gas pump, outside of a convenient store in the 600 block of Lynn Haven Drive in Pocomoke City. Responding officers found Collick, the victim, at a nearby medical facility looking for help for what appeared to be a stab wound to his upper body. He was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation indicates Collick was inside the convenient store at the time of the incident. Police believe he exited the store to help break up the domestic dispute at the gas pump when he was injured. Police also believe Collick knew the individuals involved in the dispute.
Investigators have been interviewing witnesses and residents in the area throughout the day. Crime scene evidence has been transported to the State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime laboratory for analysis. Anyone with information about this murder is urged to contact the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation at 410-632-1111.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was requested to respond and take the lead on this investigation. Additional assistance is being provided by State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigators, as well as the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Worcester County State’s Attorney Office and the Pocomoke City Police Department.
State Police crime scene technicians processed the scene. The Maryland State Apprehension Team, troopers from the Berlin and Salisbury Barracks and the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team are also at the scene and working to locate Johnson as this investigation continues.

The Maryland State Police want you to remind your loved ones to watch out for deer as their mating season continues through November.
According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, more than half of all collisions involving deer occur in October and November. Motorists should be more cautious during this time of year as ‘the rut’ or mating season for deer is in full swing in Maryland. Deer will cross the roads at any time day or night which can create hazardous driving conditions.
Here are a few driving tips to help prevent crashes:
Deer are most active at dawn and dusk so be especially watchful during these times.
One deer crossing the road maybe a sign of more deer about to cross. Watch for the other deer because they will blindly follow the leaders, mates or mothers.
Take note of deer-crossing signs and drive accordingly. Remember, they are there for a reason!
Do not drive beyond your headlights, give yourself enough time to see the deer and slow down.
Deer hooves have no traction on pavement. A deer may fall in front of your vehicle when it is trying to run away.
If a collision with a deer is unavoidable, take your foot off the accelerator and brake lightly. Keep your vehicle straight. Steering to miss the deer could put you in a more dangerous position. You could cause more damage to you and your vehicle by striking a guardrail, pole, embankment or another vehicle. (actually, it’s part of a permanent residency), as a congressional panel spent Thursday peppering presidential candidate Hillary Clinton with questions about her role in the Benghazi consulate attack. The attack left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, and has been the subject of political scandal ever since, with Republicans claiming then-Secretary of State Clinton didn’t do enough to sufficiently fortify the security detail of the consulate.
It’s pure political theater, but sadly, no one on this congressional panel will ask the real questions to which Americans deserve answers. And this is because the real scandal presents questions that can’t be asked, because the answers indict the entire U.S. government.
What was our true geopolitical motive in Libya?
At its core, the 2011 NATO-backed rebels’ deposal of Libya’s dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, involved United States foreign policy interests. As with other recent military actions in the Middle East, it is part of a deep and blood-soaked history of coups that includes no less than35 countries.
Soon after 9/11, former General Wesley Clark was informed about a memo outlining how the U.S. government planned to “take out” seven countries in five years. Those countries included Iraq, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.
According to many reports, this plan had been in the works since the 1990s, when the neoconservative think tank, Project For A New American Century —which was presided over by stalwart war profiteers Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and others— drew up plans for an all-out invasion of Iraq as early as 1998. This plan included comprehensive military actions throughout the Middle East, as described by General Clark.
The overthrow of Libya’ssecular-Arab nationalist regime was very much a part of this geopolitical coup, a predicate of which was protecting the petrodollar (which is a term used to describe the world’s dominant reserve currency, the U.S. dollar, which is based on petroleum exports) and establishing a permanent occupying force in the Middle East. WhenGaddafi announced in 2009 that he planned to nationalize the country’s oil reserves, he may have sealed his fate.
So, the question for then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would be something like this: do you still support the administration’s decision to arm the terrorist group Al Qaeda (remember them?) in order to topple Gaddafi, destabilize the government, and allow the U.S. to install a puppet regime amenable to economic imperialism? The answer would not be politically expedient.

2 guns stolen from vehicle belonging to federal agent
CLARKSBURG, Md. (AP) — Police say two 18-year-old men have been charged with stealing two handguns from a vehicle assigned to a federal agent.
Montgomery County police say the guns were in a backpack inside the vehicle and were reported stolen early Thursday morning in Clarksburg.
Later that morning, police arrested 18-year-old Jarvis Johnson for alleged drug dealing and recovered one of the guns from him.

I have the distinguished honor of being on the Committee to raise $50 million for a monument to Hillary Clinton. We originally wanted to put her on Mt. Rushmore until we discovered there was not enough room for two faces.
We then decided to erect a statue of Hillary in the Washington, D.C. Hall of Fame. We were in a quandary as to where the statue should be placed. It was not proper to place it beside the statue of George Washington, who never told a lie, or beside Barack Hussein Obama, who never told the truth, since Hillary could never tell the difference.
We finally decided to place it beside Christopher Columbus, the greatest Democrat of them all. He left not knowing where he was going, and when he got there he did not know where he was. He returned not knowing where he had been, and did it all on someone else's money.
