O'Malley Derides Tea Party, Urges Unity In CA Speech

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley introduced himself to California Democrats Saturday with a scathing indictment of the tea party and a call for a stronger middle class to move the country forward.

The potential 2016 White House candidate, speaking to hundreds of Democratic delegates at a party convention in Los Angeles, said he's weary of the cynicism and government-by-obstruction that frequently stalls work on Capitol Hill.

He singled out tea party Republicans for espousing "a small view" of America that he compared to the "trickle-down economics" of the Reagan era.

Conn. Police Refuse To Enforce New Gun Laws

A showdown is developing between a sizable number of Connecticut state police officers and the politicians who passed into law highly restrictive gun control, gun bans, and bans on high capacity magazines.

Gun rights legal expert and activist David Hardy reported Friday that 250 law enforcement officers in Connecticut have signed an open letter stating that they will not enforce the new anti-gun and magazine laws, which they consider to be a violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Caitlyn Virts' Grandmother: "She Said, 'We're All Three Together Now'"

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD - For days, 11-year-old Caitlyn Virts' family has waited on edge. Amber alerts swept across the nation, as the family held onto the hope that she'd be okay.

"Worrying. Just worrying. All kinds of stuff going through my head," said Virts' grandmother, Anna Trainor Goodwin.

Three days after she disappeared with her father, the family got word that Caitlyn has returned to Maryland.

"I jumped up! I was jumping up for joy! I was happy. In tears, happy," Trainor Goodwin said.

Federal Inspector To Audit Maryland Health Exchange

A federal inspector general is launching a review into what went wrong with Maryland's health insurance exchange, the first examination focused specifically on how millions of dollars in federal money was spent by the state, according to the lawmaker who requested the probe.

Rep. Andy Harris, a Baltimore County Republican and vocal opponent of President Barack Obama's health care law, said officials with the inspector general for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services had contacted him and indicated they will look into the creation of the state's glitch-prone exchange.

The probe, which Harris said would likely begin in a matter of weeks, is the first of its kind to be revealed publicly. It comes days after the U.S. Government Accountability Office said it would review the formation of state-based insurance exchanges — though experts say an inspector general's examination is usually more exhaustive and specific.

A SALISBURY NEWS EXCLUSIVE: SALISBURY AIRPORT COVER UP, "THE DRAPER ONE APPROACH"

Image is not Piedmont or Salisbury
Its December 21st. Loved ones are flying into Salisbury to visit Family and others are coming home for the Holidays. The Centre Of Salisbury Mall is packed with Holiday Shoppers, local Hotels are booking rooms for visitors when all of a sudden a Piedmont Airline Plane is descending at an incredible rate of speed, many witnesses scared for their life.

For those on board the Plane, preparations for a crash were in progress as the plane descended to less than 500 feet over the Mall.

The problem, well, there was no problem, thankfully. The Pilot simply wanted to rattle the windows of his home and neighbors who lived next to the Mall.

"The Draper One Approach" Takes Another Nose Dive

This is a mass email only sent out to all First Officers on Jan.18, 2013, notifying them the FAA is going to call many of them about their knowledge of "The Draper One Appoach". From what I'm told the FAA cannot contact First Officers directly. The FAA contacts Piedmont, Piedmont contacts the First Officers with the FAA inspector's number.

Also the SBY Rep. who sent out this email was renting a room in Drapers house, (the Pilot in question) and represented Draper in all his meetings with Piedmont.

Do you smell what I smell?

Subject: FAA Contacts
The Association has learned that the FAA may try to interview some First Officers based in SBY.

If the FAA attempts to contact you we recommend that you immediately call your representative:  Tim Garbat at 562-773-1535 or Charles Schaefer at (410) 591-1114

We want to remind each of you that you have the right to have representation if you decide to talk to the Inspector.

Thank you,

Captain Tim Garbat

Well We Know You Got Laid Off But Now We Want You Back For A Lot Less Money

While PRMC laid off a ton of people in recent months, they screwed up, or did they?

Considering there is currently only one nurse for every eight patients, PRMC is now reaching out to hire 91 NEW NURSES.

Some have said they got rid of their higher paid RN's to make room for lesser paid replacements. Others are simply gratified that new positions have become available.

Whatever the case may be, if you are in need of a job, if you are a Registered Nurse, you may pick up a fairly decent job at PRMC until they can take even more advantage of a crushed economy and hire people for even less, again.

Oh, and if you know what's good for you. Once you are hired you'll be required/mandated to purchase all of your prescriptions from their internal pharmacy within the Hospital, hurting even more of the local businesses. Millions more dollars going TAX FREE in Salisbury.

Oh Crap, Here We Go AGAIN!

Remember The Bennett Middle School project that got voted down and then Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman called for a special meeting and changed her mind. Well, it's about to happen again!

You know how the Council voted NO to raises for Sheriff Lewis, Rick Pollitt, the Orphan Court Judges and even the County Council.

Well, this past Tuesday the Council only had 5 members present and the proposed raises got a final NO. Right then and there, (because she wasn't happy) Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman vowed to bring it ALL back up again in the near future when they know they'll have ALL of the Council present so it can PASS.

Ladies & Gentlemen, there are NO Rules of Order with the County Council, meaning they can do just that. I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA! When something gets voted down, it's a done deal and that's how it should be.

For far too many years we have watched Council majorities vote down many projects I personally believe the City or County should have moved forward with but it is what it is. And as many of you know, we have seen many projects I believe the majority of citizens DIDN'T want passed but they got rubber stamped and went through against our wishes.

You have to take the good with the bad. NOT if you are on your way out though, like Mrs. Prettyman is. Mrs. Barkley, (one of the Orphan Court Judges) threw an absolute FIT Tuesday night. I mean, come on now, a 40% PAY RAISE for one day a month!

I'm telling you people, there better be a record turn out for the upcoming election because we must take back control, at least on a local level. We need representatives that will vote in Roberts Rules of Order so this kind of crap won't happen again.

Mrs. Prettyman, SHAME ON YOU.

Study Finds Wind Turbines ‘Slow Down’ Hurricane

OCEAN CITY — While the effort to develop an offshore wind energy farm just 30 miles off the coast of Ocean City continues to plod steadily forward, a new study released last week suggests offshore wind farms of a considerably greater size than the one proposed off Maryland’s coast could significantly lessen the power and mitigate the damage caused by hurricanes and other major coastal storms.

Late last year, the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced the lease of Maryland’s designated Wind Energy Area, an 80,000 acre tract of open ocean roughly 10 to 30 miles off the coast of Ocean City would be put out for bid early in 2014. Already, one major player, Virginia-based Dominion Energy, announced its intention to bid on Maryland’s wind energy area and others are expected to soon follow suit.

Just last week, a study released by Stanford University, in partnership with the University of Delaware, suggests offshore wind farms with thousands of turbines, could siphon away the energy from hurricanes and coastal storms and significantly reduce peak wind speeds and lower storm surges. Noted Stanford civil and environmental engineering professor Mark Jacobson conducted the research with the help of University of Delaware professors Cristina Archer and Willett Kempton.

Stonewalling Wicomico Citizens HB-1279 - Letter to the Editor

At the first Legislative Breakfast for this new session Mr. Pollitt had made some inquires about the best time to submit legislation for new bills.  I believe it was Mr. Conway who said it was nice to have them submitted early so as to be sure they would get through the legislative procedure.  Mr. Pollitt then went on to explore avenues of getting increased revenues for the County, and, in particular mentioned a SPECIAL TAX on maybe gas or a county sales tax.

On January 26th I emailed Delegate Conway to ask if he had seen any legislation in this area and what were his thoughts on those ideas.  So far I haven't received an answer, but, Delegate Conway did acknowledge the receipt of my e-mail at the second Legislative Breakfast back in February - and stated that he would contact his office about getting back to me.  So far - I'm still awaiting a response, but I believe I have found out what has transpired.

At the first Tuesday evening meeting of the County Council, during the public input section, I expressed my concerns about any new bills being introduced that could give our County powers to invoke these additional taxes.  Mr. Strausburg came into the room with his hand in the air and assured me that he did not know of any such bills being introduced.  About this time many people were showing concerns about why Mr. Pollitt was spending so much time in Annapolis.  It was even speculated that he might be job hunting for a government position.  I really have no idea what he was doing but could only speculate by what I was reading.  Well low and behold, on the very last day of introducing new legislation for new bills and just about at the last hour a new House Bill pops up - HB-1279 - (click onto link)Read this bill - it gives Pollitt everything he wanted and he and Delegate Conway can use the old plausibility out of say; 'we didn't write that and we had nothing to do with it.'

Sears Repair Center - 'Another One Bites The Dust'

Today, I went over to Sears Retail Sales Center that was located on W. Naylor Mill Road, just behind Lowe's, to try and get a replacement part for my cordless drill.  I knew that Sears had reported bad sales numbers for the past few quarters, but I was a little  surprised to see such a sudden departure.  Last month - JC Penny's reported it was closing and now Sears Parts Center.

This is yet another negative indicator of Salisbury's sagging economy.

Baltimore City Cop Charged In Animal Cruelty Case

A Baltimore City police officer was arrested for intentionally and cruelly killing a seven-month-old puppy. Alec Eugene Taylor, age 27, is now charged with aggravated animal cruelty and abuse or neglect of an animal.

The puppy was his girlfriend's, who Taylor allegedly texted a photograph of what appeared to be a lifeless dog. Taylor killed their seven-month-old Jack Russell Terrier named Rocko.

Taylor told his girlfriend that he was tired of cleaning up the dog’s defecation and that he had beaten the dog with a mop. He also said that he had placed the deceased dog in a dumpster in the parking lot. She later asked him if he could remove Rocko from the dumpster so that she could bury the dog. She returned home from work, retrieved the deceased dog from a shoebox on the apartment balcony, and buried the dog at a neighborhood park in Hyattsville.

Minimum Wage Hike Will Likely Pass

I've been in regular contact with Legislators in Annapolis and the tone is, expect the bill to pass Friday.

Here's the interesting part though. In Prince Georges County, Six Flags will be EXEMPT. Delegate Mike McDermott asked that seasonal workers in Ocean City be exempt, (waiter/waitresses/bartenders) and it was denied.

I also learned that Seniors will NOT be exempt either. This means those people over 62 years old will more than likely be reducing their hours because of penalties. Go figure, O'Malley has figured a way to create more part time jobs and is driving our seniors out of work.

I sure do hope the people of Wicomico & Worcester County wake up and vote Republican in the upcoming elections because the Eastern Shore's special needs are being ignored.
