Kirk Cameron rallies to get religious film unblocked by YouTube and Facebook

Kirk Cameron, former star of "Growing Pains" and devout Christian, now knows what it feels like to be persecuted. Cameron claims Facebook and Youtube had censored the trailer for his new movie, "Unstoppable," but his social media campaign eventually paid off.

Cameron took to his Facebook page on Thursday, writing that both Facebook and Youtube flagged the trailer as "abusive, unsafe and spammy" (Facebook) and "spam, scam and deceptive" (YouTube). He couldn't upload the trailer to Youtube nor post links to its official website on his Facebook page.

Cameron was baffled by Facebook's decision, writing: "This is my most personal film about faith, hope, and love, and about why God allows bad things to happen to good people. What is 'abusive' or 'unsafe' about that?!"

McCain Joins Obama In Calling For Review Of 'Stand Your Ground' Laws

A top Republican joined President Barack Obama's call to review so-called "Stand Your Ground" laws in the aftermath of the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting of black teen Trayvon Martin.

Sen. John McCain, Ariz., a prominent Republican who's been known to break ranks with fellow members of the GOP at times, urged state legislatures to review Stand Your Ground laws in the wake of the Zimmerman trial, which became a national flashpoint for race relations in America.

"I can also see that Stand Your Ground laws may be something that needs to be reviewed by the Florida legislature or any other legislature that has passed such legislation," McCain said on CNN.

Md. School Board Reviews Graduation Speaker Rules

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland school board says it's reconsidering a policy on high school graduation speakers after one school's valedictorian didn't get an opportunity to speak.

Washington County's policy specifies that the valedictorian and salutatorian get first cracks at delivering graduation speeches.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports (http://bit.ly/1293PqR ) that the policy is being reviewed after the valedictorian at Washington County Technical High School was bypassed as a speaker during that school's audition process.

GUESS WHO REPORTEDLY ACCOMPANIED AL SHARPTON TO NYC RALLY — THEN GOT JEERED BY CROWD?

When the Rev. Al Sharpton and Trayvon Martin’s mother arrived at the Harlem rally for Martin today, they were accompanied by Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera, according to National Review Online.

NRO adds that Rivera had “no cameraman and seemed to be observing the proceedings as a guest.”

Some protesters apparently spot Rivera and began to complain and shout, “Get Fox out!” and “What are you doing here?”

Ethanol Industry Has EPA As Ally In Battle Against Big Oil

Drama is high these days for ethanol makers, whose fate is on the line in Washington - fitting for an industry dependent on government.

The oil industry has launched an assault on the ethanol mandate that drives demand for the plant-based fuel. The Senate recently confirmed an industry friend to head the Environmental Protection Agency. And the EPA is finalizing a controversial rule to allow higher blends of ethanol in gasoline.

Ethanol is a fuel made from fermenting and distilling plant matter - mostly corn in the U.S. From the industry's earliest days, government has subsidized the fuel. The most important benefit for the industry today is the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Eagle Scout, Gavin Stephens, who built the playground at Westside Little League Park? He was arrested for the armed robbery in Fruitland in mid May along with his brother and a couple more. I checked the Worcester County file on this young man and he has seven recent charges against him for what looks like hit and runs. Above is an example of one of those charges.

Just What Did Happen Last Friday Between Mayor Jim Ireton And Lore' Chambers

Sources say it was not a pleasant sight, once again. Mayor Ireton has a record of being verbally abusive towards WOMEN. I had reported long ago about how I personally came across his former secretary crying in the hallway after Jim tore her up and down verbally.

It turns out Jim treated Lore' no differently. What we've been told was that Lore' has been on Family Medical Leave lately. She came in on Friday to go to Human Resources to drop off her resume for John Pick's job. She stopped in upstairs to say hello and that's when things went bad.

Once Jim Ireton learned Lore' had put in her resume for the job, Ireton immediately ordered Lore' to go back downstairs and take back her resume. Lore' refused to do so and Ireton started screaming and yelling at her.

Because Lore' refused to take back her resume, Ireton told her to go and clean out her desk, she had been terminated/fired.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I am NOT trying to make this Post about me. I simply want to say this. I tried. I worked very hard for a year to get out there and express to as many of you as I could that Salisbury could no longer afford this kind of leadership. I actually moved from my home and relocated to Salisbury for more than a year to HELP you out of a bad situation.

Mind you, the election results are highly questionable. ALL news outlets were doing exit poll results and each one of them were stating all day long that I was up 2 to 1 over Ireton. Funny how just weeks before the election Ireton would commit what 99% of you would believe to be political suicide. He stated he wanted to sell off all the parking lots Downtown. He said he wanted to give away the EDU's from Linens of the Week to build subsidized housing units, 500 of them. He then announced a $19,000,000.00 annual Rain Tax. He then announced his lockout ordinance to shut down any business or residence that had 2 complaints in a 2 year period. He then announced he was openly gay in the Daily Times.

It was almost as if Ireton WANTED you to NOT vote for him. This is why the Republican Party wanted to challenge the election results. Funny, no matter who you talk to, I have YET to meet a single person who said they voted for Jim Ireton. Now mind you, life is VERY GOOD in Delmar. I have no regrets, none whatsoever. There are a select few who like to try to give me a hard time and even call me a loser. I'm no loser. When your local media takes the time to call me and say NO ONE at their location believes Jim Ireton won that election, (they did exit polls all day) that's saying a lot.

I said this several weeks ago. While there are many of us who like Tom Stevenson, what Jim Ireton did to Lore' Chambers, (IMHO) was a slap in the face. When John Pick chose to take another job, Lore' should have filled his position immediately, that's a no brainer. I feel Jim Ireton has PURPOSELY put the taxpayers in a very bad position opening an immediate lawsuit just on that move alone, let alone his most recent move firing her . Lore' has a clear opportunity to challenge the City/Mayor and Jim Ireton should be removed from Office and I'm not kidding.

You have a school teacher running a multi million dollar business. Think about this for a minute. We ALL know Jim throws hissy fits on a regular basis. Just imagine ALL of the other instances that you DON'T know about. Mojo's, Council Work Sessions, abusive e-mail messages. Jim Ireton is completely out of control.

In closing let me say this. I started Salisbury News because of all the corruption I saw going on and the local media not covering it. Agree with me or not, I provide a service that makes you THINK. So do me a favor and THINK for just a minute. What would have happened if Joe Albero had been elected. Would there be investigations towards old deals in the City too many people couldn't afford to be exposed????? And just how far would some of these people go to make sure I wasn't elected. Trust me, I knew this going in. I felt the pulse of the community when I went door to door. I never once had a door slammed in my face. I saw the reception of the majority of voters with thumbs up at the polls. Finally, your local media knows for a fact that the election results are questionable. Don't YOU think it would make for an interesting interview to ask me personally how I felt about the final numbers after some time has passed. Salisbury is a very dangerous place to live Ladies & Gentlemen. I wish you and Lore', (and many more like her) a lot of luck.

Today's Survey Question 7-16-13

Do you believe President Obama is adding more racial tension in America by challenging the the George Zimmerman outcome?

MS. CHAMBERS: HERE’S YOUR SALISBURY KANGAROO COURT!

We understand why Lore Chambers would file a grievance procedure after being fired in public by Ireton – after all, the City’s employee handbook says that it must be “for cause.” But that probably is not worth the effort, because under the “Disciplinary Grievance Procedure” Ireton gets to make the ultimate decision. Can you say “conflict of interest”? And it’s even worse.

Under that procedure, which is specified in part 0908 of the employee handbook, a terminated employee’s appeal is heard by a 3-member “Board,” whose chairperson is “a department head selected by the City administrator” – in this instance the very person currently serving by Ireton’s choice in the position that Ms. Chamber wants, Tom Stevenson. Ms. Chambers gets to appoint a member, who must be another department head (i.e., beholden to Ireton). The third member is a City employee appointed by the chairperson selected by Mr. Stevenson.

That “Board” hears the case and makes a recommendation to Ireton, whose decision “shall be final.” There is no alternative method if the employee has been terminated by Ireton (mayor), not that it matters one wit in this instance.

This is an absolutely absurd appeals process. Many cities have truly independent boards for this purpose, but Salisbury still has the Barrie Tilghman era kangaroo court. Ms. Chambers would be wise to lawyer-up ASAP and rely on the federal civil rights legislation.

Tractor-Trailer Accident Sends Car Over Bay Bridge

SANDY POINT, Md. —A collision between a tractor-trailer and a vehicle Friday night sent the car over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and into the water.

It happened around 8:24 p.m. on the eastbound span about 200 yards from the toll plaza.

"A three-car collision occurred on the eastbound Bay Bridge. It involved a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles. At this point, our understanding is the tractor-trailer struck one of the two vehicles causing it to strike the Jersey wall and it subsequently rolled over the wall into the shallow waters of the bay," Maryland Transportation Authority Police 1st Sgt. Jonathan Green told 11 News.

The car fell about 40 feet into the water with one person inside.

President Makes Surprise, Personal Remarks on Trayvon Case and Racism in America

President Obama made a surprise stop at today's press briefing to address the Trayvon Martin case. The president didn't field any questions in his appearance, but said he wanted to further discuss the context behind his comments made directly following the shooting death of the 17-year-old Florida boy by George Zimmerman.

After the February 2012 shooting, Obama spoke out about the tragedy, saying that Trayvon could have been 'his son.' Today, he added on to that statement, saying, "When Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is that Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago."

"When you think about why, in the African American community at least, there's a lot of pain around what happened, you need to understand that they're looking at it through a lens and a [...] history that doesn't go away," he said.

Amazing: 14 year old girl set to graduate College with a 3.9 GPA

Yes, you’ve read the title correctly. A 14 year old girl is graduating from COLLEGE. Young Thessalonika Arzu-Embry, who lives on the Great Lakes Naval Base, will be graduating from Chicago State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Thessalonika actually started college at the age of 11 at the College of Lake County. She will end next month with the degree from Chicago State. With all of the talk about kids in Chicago not being prepared to succeed, this young lady is showing that there is a great deal of brilliance right in the heart of the south side of the city.

Thessalonika doesn’t attend regular high school like every other freshman her age. She actually wakes up early with her mother, Wonder Embry, and makes the commute from home at the Great Lakes Naval Station near North Chicago to Chicago State on the South Side of the city. On the way to school, Thessalonika and her mother study theory and talk about homework assignments.

Thessalonika dedicates all of her hard work to her mother, who keeps her motivated.

When Will Salisbury Taxpayers Finally Stand Their Ground And Say Enough Is Enough

Next Monday night the Mayor and Council will meet to discuss what Salisbury News had predicted years ago, more funding from the taxpayers to build the Animal Services Building at the Salisbury Zoo.

I stated that I felt Ron Alessi and the Zoo Commission were lying to the public about the costs and they were doing so just to jump start the project. I went on to say they'd come back at a later point and ask for more money, that's how Liberals work the system.

Today I am again letting you know you have been scammed again.

Who in their right mind would spend millions of dollars on such improvements when the Salisbury Zoo can't even cover their own overhead. They have THREE non profit organizations raising money for the Zoo and NONE of those funds come back to the general fund account for the City, relieving the taxpayers.

The AZA is forcing the City to spend millions of dollars for something the Salisbury Zoo absolutely 100% DOES NOT NEED. Trust me when I tell you, the Salisbury Zoo is way to small of a Zoo to need such a building and before you forget, the taxpayers already gave $300,000.00 to rebuild and update the current Animal Services building just to satisfy the AZA. The Zoo doesn't bring in enough exotic animals to warrant such a facility and considering my Wife ran that portion of the Zoo for 18 years, I/We know what we're talking about.

Now Alessi and Company want to come back to the Mayor and Council and say, hey, sorry about that chief but we screwed up and the new building is going to cost us another $500,000.00, above and beyond the OTHER $500,000.00 you already gave us, (on top of the $300,000.00 worth of improvements on the old bldg) my bad.

Americans are suffering financially. The Eastern Shore is suffering. Salisbury, well, the Mayor has to GIVE everything away just to get someone, anyone, interested in doing business with the City. Do you really think in this economy we should be bonding out another half a million dollars simply because the Zoo can't raise the funds from the people they're calling, so screw the local taxpayers on TOP of what your already providing to keep their doors open.

Your leadership is out of control. Lease the Zoo back to the Zoo Commission for $1.00 a year and let them live or die on their own and STOP taking more money from the taxpayers. Remember Salisbury Taxpayers, letting this go through is just ANOTHER reason Ireton will raise taxes AGAIN next year. Someone, (YOU) has to pay for it.

How Many People Think This Is A Joke?

Have you actually watched this segment on WBOC? I love how they go back to old "Survey Questions" from Salisbury News and create an actual SHOW about them. Nevertheless, we'd love to know your thoughts on this show if you've seen it.

10 THINGS THE MEDIA AREN'T TELLING YOU ABOUT THE ZIMMERMAN CASE

In the wake of the Zimmerman not-guilty verdict, the media's outright lies, race-baiting, misinformation, shrillness, downplaying of events inconvenient to their narrative, and hysterical and dangerous stoking of racial animus have been in fifth-gear 24/7 for going on five days now. And they are just getting started. NBC's Al Sharpton is currently arranging for 100 weekend protests in 100 cities.

Cutting through the muck to the truth is therefore New Media's job; and here are ten things the media are either ignoring or downplaying in their partisan effort to turn a loss into a win…

1. There is Zero Evidence Race was Involved In the Shooting

Early last year, as the tragic and fatal shooting of teenager Trayvon Martin was just starting to bubble up, the media falsely described George Zimmerman as "white." The name Zimmerman apparently fooled the media into believing they had a white versus black narrative on their hands. Once they learned Zimmerman was Hispanic, rather than change course, in order to cover up their mistake, the media put the pedal to the metal in pushing a racial angle.

This crusade, however, is anti-science. A thorough federal investigation into Zimmerman found absolutely no evidence that there was any racism in his past or in his motivations the night of the shooting.

During the trial, the prosecution did not accuse Zimmerman of having any kind of racial motive.

The one juror who has spoken out said the jury saw no evidence of a racial motivation.

The media's racial narrative is based on nothing more than partisan lies, speculation, innuendo, and a cynical alchemy conjured from nothing to enflame division and hate.

Moreover, it is reasonable to assume the media have been swarming Zimmerman's life looking for anything that might point to racism. But as of yet there have been no media reports (that weren't later debunked and retracted) reporting Zimmerman has been found to be a closet racist.

On the contrary…
