During the recession, the birthrate dropped after a high in 2007
The recession has been officially over for four years
The birthrate hit an all-time low in 2011 and stayed there in 2012
Economic uncertainty coupled with a general trend towards fewer births means there may not be a bounce-back in birthrates
The recession has been over for four years, but the birth rate in the U.S. continues to fall as many people struggle with a sluggish economy and financial uncertainty.
According to a recent analysis by the Pew Institute, since 2007 when there were a record 4,316,233 births, the number of births has been steadily declining, with 4,007,000 births in 2012 – the lowest number since 1998.
Analysts say that the birthrate is dictated by the economy.

What Every Student In America Needs To Know About The Federal Reserve
Frequent contributor Jeff W. recently penned this succinct explanation of the Federal Reserve, and he did so with such clarity that in my view this is the essential primer on the Fed that every high school and college student in America should read. If they study this short essay, they will grasp the essence of the Fed and understand why the financial Status Quo is doomed.
People are confused about the Fed, and I think it would be better if everybody had a clear understanding of what the Federal Reserve is and what it is not.
First of all, the Federal government thinks of the Federal Reserve as a service bureau, whose function it is to print money that the government can spend. As long as the Federal Reserve performs that function--reliably printing, let's say, a trillion or more each year to top off the Federal budget--then Congress will be happy with the Federal Reserve (their rainmaker) and will follow its advice and try to keep it happy.

Zombie Industries' Gun Control Lobbyist Target Comes Under Fire
Gun Control Lobbyist, the latest product from Zombie Industries, has been heavily criticized by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who represented Newtown in the House when the mass shooting occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary.
WASHINGTON — The fun-loving folks who brought you “Zombie Obama” are taking wider aim with their latest shooting target — “Gun Control Lobbyist.”
Advocates of tougher gun laws, including gun violence victims and their families, are depicted as shooting targets — and zombies — in the bizarre new product its maker calls “funny.”
A Connecticut senator meanwhile says point blank that the target is “incredibly offensive.”

CRAIG: Common Core’s Abstraction Distraction
CRAIG: Common core’s abstraction distraction "It used to be a teacher’s primary goal was to “reach” a student. That will never happen as long as politicians and education bureaucrats in Washington insert themselves between teachers and students. Common Core is a backdoor way of nationalizing education, one based on a notion that children are to be churned out of schools on conveyor belts and into the workforce. It will never work."

DOJ GESTAPO
DOJ sends secret “peacekeepers” where Trayvon Martin was killed
Synopsis
Judicial Watch, Inc. on April 24, 2012 launched an investigation into the Trayvon Martin case based on reports that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) had sent a secret team of “peacekeepers” to Sanflord, Florida, where Martin was shot on February 26, 2012 after wandering in a gated community after dark. George Zimmerman, a resident of the community and its neighborhood watch captain, is currently on trial for Martin’s death though he maintains he acted in self-defense
Records obtained by Judicial Watch in response to local, state and federal public records requests show that the so-called peacekeepers are part of a large and growing division within DOJ called the Community Relations Service (CRS). Though CRS purports to spot and quell racial tensions nationwide before they arise, the documents obtained by Judicial Watch show the group actively worked to foment unrest, spending thousands of taxpayer dollars on travel and hotel rooms to train protestors throughout Florida. The peacekeepers also met with officials of the Republican National Convention, scheduled for several months later in Tampa, to warn them to expect protests in connection with Martin’s death.

An investigation is being carried out into why the U.S. military spent $34 million constructing a building in Afghanistan that has never been used - and may now be demolished.
The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, John Sopko, sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and two top generals this week, requesting more information about the project in Helmand Province.
The 64,000-square foot building was commissioned by the Army in February 2010 to be the Command and Control Facility for Regional Command Southwest during the surge.

A WATERSPOUT FILMED IN FLORIDA SO SURREAL YOU MIGHT THINK IT’S A FAKE
Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather.com meteorologist and social media coordinator, didn’t believe what he saw in Tampa Bay earlier this week was real. The picture and video by Joey Mole in Safety Harbor show an unbelievable and surreal waterspout curving downward from a cloud into Old Tampa Bay.
“When I saw this photo this morning on social media, I couldn’t believe it was real,” he wrote on his blog.
Evaluating the photo shared on Facebook pages of local meteorologists, Ferrell wrote that he had to actually vet its legitimacy because the image was so fantastic.

Earliest Alphabetical Inscription From Biblical Times Found In Jerusalem
A 3,000-year-old inscribed piece of an earthenware jug dating back to the time of King David has archaeologists stumped.
The ancient inscription is the earliest alphabetical written text ever found in Jerusalem, according to researchers from Hebrew University who discovered the artifact.
Working near the Temple Mount, head archaeologist Eilat Mazar uncovered the 10th century B.C.E inscription, engraved on a large pithos, a necklace ceramic jar, along with six others at the Ophel excavation site.

Appeals Court Ruling Means Convicted Murderers Are Freed
A recent court ruling means freedom for some convicted murderers in Maryland.
Months ago the Maryland Court of Appeals found that in some cases juries were not properly instructed.
And in some cases it happened for those accused of murder.
As a result, the jail doors will likely be swinging open and dozens of prisoners will likely get out scott free...including more than a dozen who were put behind bars on murder charges.

Federal Funding Announced For Fenwick Beach Pumping
FENWICK ISLAND -- Fenwick Island officials last week announced the federal Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract for a vast beach replenishment project to repair the damage caused during Hurricane Sandy last fall and other coastal storms throughout the winter and early spring.
The Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract to repair and restore the beaches in Fenwick and other coastal resort towns in Delaware to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock. With the contract awarded last week, a notice to proceed is expected to be issued at any time and a construction schedule will be released. With Fenwick and other Delaware beaches in the height of their seasons, the beach replenishment and restoration projects will likely be scheduled after Labor Day.
During the project, roughly 389,000 cubic yards of sand will be pumped onto the beach in Fenwick from offshore borrow sources and spread over about 6,500 feet of shoreline. The dunes ravaged during Sandy last October and other storms last winter and early spring will also be restored to their pre-storm conditions.
