A city schoolteacher, convinced her
cop husband had cheated on her, allegedly murdered their two kids —
poisoning them, then sealing their Bronx apartment’s windows with
plastic before turning on the gas, sources told The Post yesterday.
Lissette Bamenga, 29 — who slit her wrists in a suicide attempt
during the Thursday horror — believed Officer Trevor Noel had gotten
another woman pregnant, and she allegedly wanted to punish him by
killing 5-year-old Trevor Jr. and Liliane, who was just 4 months old,
the sources said.
The children were declared dead at the scene. Bamenga was rushed to
Jacobi Hospital, where she remained in stable condition.“You got what
you wanted,” she allegedly wrote in one of two suicide notes. “Me and
the kids are in a better place now.”

A Muslim group has released its plan to “wipe Christianity from the
face of the earth,” Islamize the West and establish an Islamic system of
world government – placing those who resist “under a police state.”
The 23-page booklet, “The Global Islamic Civilization: The Power of a Nation Revived,” is the brainchild of the United Muslim Nations International, a group led by Sheik Farook al-Mohammedi. The document outlines a plan for Muslim world domination and the re-establishment of the Caliphate.
Al-Mohammedi leaves no doubt about his view of Christianity.

With a torpid job market and a fragile economy threatening his re-election chances, President Obama is changing the subject to tax fairness, calling for a one-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for people making less than $250,000.

According to Reuters, The U.N. World Economic and Social Survey
has determined that the needs of developing countries are not being
met, and new taxes will help fight dilemmas like “climate change” and

Mexican Army Finds Clandestine Smuggling Tunnel Under Arizona Border
The Yuma Sun reports the tunnel had been used for more than six months to smuggle drugs northbound and weapons and cash southbound, according to Gen. Raul Guereca Valenzuela, head of the local military station.
Mexico’s defense secretariat says the tunnel linked a soon-to-be-opened ice and purified water business in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora to a business in San Luis, Arizona.

The DOT published its “Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in Air Travel: Draft Technical Assistance Manual” in the Federal Register on July 5, providing guidance that allows swine on airplanes if they are determined to be service animals.
The manual is designed to "help carriers and indirect carriers and their employees/contractors that provide services or facilities to passengers with disabilities, assist those passengers in accordance with" the Air Carrier Access Act. The manual open for public comments until Oct. 3.

WHO is happier about life — liberals or conservatives? The answer might seem straightforward. After all, there is an entire academic literature in the social sciences dedicated to showing conservatives as naturally authoritarian, dogmatic, intolerant of ambiguity, fearful of threat and loss, low in self-esteem and uncomfortable with complex modes of thinking. And it was the candidate Barack Obama in 2008 who infamously labeled blue-collar voters “bitter,” as they “cling to guns or religion.” Obviously, liberals must be happier, right?
Wrong. Scholars on both the left and right have studied this question extensively, and have reached a consensus that it is conservatives who possess the happiness edge. Many data sets show this. For example, the Pew Research Center in 2006 reported that conservative Republicans were 68 percent more likely than liberal Democrats to say they were “very happy” about their lives. This pattern has persisted for decades. The question isn’t whether this is true, but why.
Many conservatives favor an explanation focusing on lifestyle differences, such as marriage and faith. They note that most conservatives are married; most liberals are not. (The percentages are 53 percent to 33 percent, according to my calculations using data from the 2004 General Social Survey, and almost none of the gap is due to the fact that liberals tend to be younger than conservatives.) Marriage and happiness go together. If two people are demographically the same but one is married and the other is not, the married person will be 18 percentage points more likely to say he or she is very happy than the unmarried person.

Postal Disservice
A GROUP OF concerned citizens paid us a high compliment the other day — by showing up to picket outside our doors. Nice to know our words are provocative enough to protest. Community and Postal Workers United was calling attention to what its members consider consider our unduly stringent view of the need for the Postal Service to restructure, especially by reining in the labor costs that account for 80 percent of its overhead.
In particular, the protesters repeated the oft-made argument that the Postal Service would be just fine, financially, if only Congress would relieve it of an annual $5.5 billion retiree health fund pre-payment. This deserves a respectful reply that fortunately can be brief. Postal Service data clearly show that the agency would still lose several billion dollars per year over the next half decade even without the pre-payment.

Police: Hug Triggers Officer's Gun, Kills Woman
A woman celebrating the weekend before her 25th birthday was fatally
shot Sunday when she hugged an off-duty police officer while dancing at a
party, causing the officer's service weapon to fire, according to
police and her mother.
Adaisha Miller would have turned 25 on Monday, according to her mother, Yolanda McNair.
The shooting happened at an outdoor social gathering about 12:30 a.m., said police Sgt. Eren Stephens. It happened on the city's west side.
According to Stephens, the woman "embraced the officer from behind, causing the holstered weapon to accidently discharge." The bullet punctured Miller's lung and hit her heart, and she died at a hospital.
