I stated earlier I would go to the Press Conference the Mayors Office refused to tell me when and where and I would do so in the company of my Attorney.

We attended the Press Conference and the Mayor knowingly and willingly lied and tomorrow Mayor James Ireton will feel the impact of such lies. As will another major company here on Delmarva.

I know I have made statements in the past but let me assure you of one thing, tomorrow will change several peoples lives because this corruption must come to an end and I will lead the way in doing so through the court system.

I will deliver a full story on this matter some time tomorrow so stay tuned for the other side, the side the MSM refused to cover. Remember one thing Ladies & Gentlemen, (as clearly stated in Greg Bassett's letter yesterday) there are two sides to every story. In order to be fair and balanced when you have every opportunity to have access to the "other side" and refuse to do so, there's a scandal involved.

Divide In Albany Kills Proposal On Marijuana

ALBANY — The Democrats who control the State Assembly, many of them black or Latino residents of New York City, saw a proposal to decriminalize the open possession of small amounts of marijuana as a simple matter of justice: too many black and Latino men were being arrested because, after being stopped by the police, they were forced to empty their pockets.

But the Republicans who run the State Senate, all of them white and most of them from suburban or rural districts, saw decriminalization differently: as an invitation for young people to use drugs and as a declaration that Albany was soft on crime.

"Marijuana still is a gateway drug to so many other much more dangerous things," said Senator John J. Flanagan, a Long Island Republican.

The differing life experiences, and worldviews, of lawmakers in the two chambers proved too much to overcome in the final days of this legislative session, and on Tuesday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo declared his marijuana proposal dead.

Public Workers Face New Rash Of Layoffs, Hurting Recovery

Companies have been slowly adding workers for more than two years. But pink slips are still going out in a crucial area: government.

In California, the governor is threatening to eliminate 15,000 state jobs. When school begins in Cleveland this fall, more than 500 teachers probably will be out of work. And in Trenton — which has already cut a third of its police force, hundreds of school district employees and at least 150 other public workers — the only way the city will forestall the loss of 60 more firefighters is if a federal grant comes through.

Government payrolls grew in the early part of the recovery, largely because of federal stimulus measures. But since its postrecession peak in April 2009 (not counting temporary Census hiring), the public sector has shrunk by 657,000 jobs. The losses appeared to be tapering off earlier this year, but have accelerated for the last three months, creating the single biggest drag on the recovery in many areas.

With the economy expanding, albeit slowly, state tax revenues have started to recover and are estimated to exceed prerecession levels next year. Yet governors and legislatures are keeping a tight rein on spending, whether to refill depleted rainy-day funds or because of political inclination.

At the same time, costs for health care, social services, pensions and education are still rising. Fourteen states plan to resolve their budget gaps by reducing aid to local governments, according to a report by the National Governors Association and the National Association of State Budget Officers.

Greece Finally Has A Government

Reaching out to other pro-austerity Parties – the Conservative New Democracy Party cobbled together a coalition government that will likely keep Greece in the Eurozone for now. The leader of the New Democracy Party – Antonis Samaras – was sworn in as Prime Minister today just ahead of an upcoming meeting with Eurozone finance ministers where the new Greek government will try to renegotiate the bailout deal and ease some of the harsh austerity that European banksters have forced on Greece. State Sells Rocky Gap Paving The Way For Casino

The State of Maryland no longer owns the Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort near Cumberland.

Maryland's Board of Public Works has voted unanimously today to sell the resort to the company that plans on building a slot machine casino adjacent to the existing hotel. 

The resort was sold to Evitts Resort LLC, which is a unit of Lakes Entertainment Inc. of Minnetonka, Minn.

House Committee Slashes Funding For Scandal-Plagued GSA

A House committee voted Wednesday to slash roughly $100 million from the scandal-plagued General Services Administration’s budget next year and deny bonuses to agency officials under investigation for misconduct.

The cuts followed revelations this spring about a 2010 GSA conference outside Las Vegas that cost taxpayers more than $800,000 and included a clown and a mentalist. Videotapes released during the investigation showed employees from the agency’s Western region mocking the lavish spending and activities.

“This bill directs funding where it will do our citizens the most good, and aims to eliminate gross mismanagement of public funds, like the GSA boondoggle in Las Vegas,” said Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky., the committee chairman.

Gallup Poll: Confidence In America's Public Schools Hits Record Low

Confidence in America’s public schools has hit a record low, with only 29 percent of respondents expressing “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in them, according to results from a recent Gallup poll.

The number is down 5 percentage points from last year, and represents a 4 percent decrease from the previous low of 33 percent in 2007 and 2008.

Public schools rank eighth -- tied with the criminal justice system -- among 16 confidence categories that Gallup studies. Its position is unchanged from last year, and once again follows the presidency and U.S. Supreme Court, and ranks ahead of newspapers.

Family of Slain Border Agent to Holder: We Deserve the Truth

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s mother and father released a statement today on President Obama’s executive privilege. 

“Attorney General Eric Holder’s refusal to fully disclose the documents associated with Operation Fast and Furious and President Obama’s assertion of executive privilege serves to compound this tragedy. It denies the Terry family and the American people the truth.”

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry “was killed by members of a Mexican drug cartel armed with weapons from this failed Justice Department gun trafficking investigation. For more than 18 months we have been asking our federal government for justice and accountability. The documents sought by the House Oversight Committee and associated with Operation Fast and Furious should be produced and turned over to the committee. Top Uses of Executive Privilege: Washington, Nixon, Obama

President Obama today invoked executive privilege to shield documents related to the "Fast and Furious" gun walking scandal from a congressional investigation, marking the first time his administration has invoked the right and the 25th time it's been used since 1980.

In response, a House committee voted Wednesday along party lines to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. The White House dismissed the proceedings as "political theater."

Louis Fisher, author of "Politics of Executive Privilege," questioned the legitimacy of the administration's claim to executive privilege.

Mother of Teen Set Afire Speaks About 2009 Attack

Michael Brewer still suffers vivid nightmares from the attack by former middle school classmates who doused him with alcohol and set him on fire in 2009, his mother said in an interview Wednesday.

"He wakes up screaming, thinking that he is still on fire. And it takes a long time to get him calmed down and get him back to sleep," Valerie Brewer told The Associated Press.

Brewer, now 17, suffered severe burns over 65 percent of his body but survived after leaping into an apartment complex swimming pool. He spent months in the hospital, undergoing seven skin graft operations, followed by months of rehabilitation and physical therapy.

On Tuesday, jurors convicted 17-year-old Matthew "Zeke" Bent of aggravated battery for the attack that claimed national headlines. Bent is to be sentenced July 23. Conviction on the charge carries a maximum of 15 years in prison.

U.S. Constitution ratified, 1788

 

 

New Hampshire becomes the ninth and last necessary state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, thereby making the document the law of the land.

By 1786, defects in the post-Revolutionary War Articles of Confederation were apparent, such as the lack of central authority over foreign and domestic commerce. Congress endorsed a plan to draft a new constitution, and on May 25, 1787, the Constitutional Convention convened at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. On September 17, 1787, after three months of debate moderated by convention president George Washington, the new U.S. constitution, which created a strong federal government with an intricate system of checks and balances, was signed by 38 of the 41 delegates present at the conclusion of the convention. As dictated by Article VII, the document would not become binding until it was ratified by nine of the 13 states.

Won't That Make 'Em Mad: A Black Tea Partier!

Birds of a feather might stick together, but they aren’t inviting artist-activist Lloyd Marcus to their dinner parties. At least most of the blackbirds won’t anytime soon.

Marcus is an anomaly as an artist and an enigmatic political mover. A creative African-American with a

distaste for the current, ethnic-tagging craze, Marcus calls himself “a proud, unhyphenated American.”

With apologies, I only mention skin tone because it’s the bear that pushed Marcus into the racially charged circus liberals devised for him. Rather than performing their old dog and pony tricks, though, Marcus had the audacity to become a (gasp) Republican activist. Worse yet he’s now a public face, speaker and voice for the national tea-party political group.

How did a nice boy from Baltimore end up in a place like Providence, R.I., singing “Dance with the Devil” and speaking to someone named Mr. Constitution in the rain?

Dan Savage Calls Pro-Romney Gays ‘F******"’

Today, the Republican gay group GOProud endorsed Mitt Romney for the presidency, explaining that Romney was “light years better” than Obama, particularly on the economy. “Most gay Americans – like their straight counterparts – are not better off than they were 4 years ago,” stated Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud’s executive director. “The truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous failed Obama economy too … President Obama and his friends on the left want this election to be about divisive social issues, because the President’s record on jobs and the economy is indefensible.”

This is hardly an outrageous statement – the fact is that many gays and lesbians around America care less about President Obama’s support for same-sex marriage than they do about his disastrous mishandling of the economy.

NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday.

Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly.

He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country.

OK, Now I'm Getting Ticked Off

The word on the street, (confirmed) is that Mayor Jim Ireton is holding a Press Conference today referencing the phone matter. I attempted to talk to the Chief of Police but she was heading into a meeting, yet not willing to admit the Daily Times had anything to do with Iretons phone call.

I was told, however, that Matt Maciarelly has assigned a special out of town prosecutor to handle this for me personally. Of course Maciarello has REFUSED to take ANY of my phone calls and continues to have Wayne Lowe call me back to play middle man between Joe Albero and Matt Maciarello ever since Matt was elected.

Nevertheless, WHY didn't Ireton contact me AT ALL? WHY didn't Ireton invite me to this Press Conference, since, (as far as they claim) I am the actual victim of an alleged prank?

Ladies & Gentlemen, this makes me sick to my stomach that Jim Ireton and the Daily Times are controlling this entire situation. Ireton could have called me weeks ago to straighten this matter out, he has not.

IF Joe Albero had pulled a stunt like this off I would be sitting in Federal Prison right now and each and every one of you know that to be true. Instead, I have been harassed by Mike Lewis, Matt Maciarello, Barbara Duncan, the Daily Times and even the Comptrollers Office, which seems to be tied into ALL of the ongoing problems ever since I announced my intent to run for Mayor.

This is the same Comptrollers Office that came after me years ago for bogus documents, connect the dots. An political attorney from Baltimore has contacted me offering to represent me pro bono, (as I've stated before) as the harassment never seems to end. What is Mike Lewis trying to pull and what is he so afraid of. Oh, that's right, he'll be up for reelection and he too wants to defame my name just as bad as the Daily Times.

I have thick skin but when the Mayor of a city I pay taxes in refuses to invite me to a Press Conference that references me, he's obviously deeply tied in with the Daily Times. It's time for all of you to start opening your eyes and see clearly what is going on. It disgusts me the way these good old boys work and the lengths they'll go to in order to stop an honest man from being in Office.

Well, it just adds fuel to my fire and creates an even stronger desire to win. Expect me at your Press Conference Ireton and be very prepared to answer some questions.

Disturbing Viral Video Shows Middle Schoolers Abusing & Threatening Bus Monitor

Prepare to see a disturbing video of young people at their worst. This clip of middle schoolers allegedly abusing a bus monitor is so disgusting, so bothersome that it will leave many wondering what has gone awry in our society. Of course, it is merely one of the many tragic, anecdotal instances of human cruelty that we so often see today. The unbelievable clip is painful to watch, as it shows alleged students from Greece Athena Middle School in Rochester, New York (my hometown) take their abuse to horrific levels.

The woman purportedly shown in the video, Karen Huff Klein, 68, is victimized incessantly, as students spew insults and obscenities at her. Throughout the clip, the children can be heard in the background calling her “fat,” threatening her and making fun of her hairstyle, among other sentiments. Astonishingly, the abuse continues for more than 10 minutes.

Hold That Thought

The plan to close nearly 50 mail processing plants has hit yet another roadblock. The Postal Service planned to close the plants in July and August. But in order to that, it's required to obtain a non-binding advisory opinion from the Postal Regulatory Commission. And, as the Federal Times reported, the commission doesn't plan to issue its opinion until September. The Postal Service reportedly wants to close the plants anyway, but the American Postal Workers Union has filed a complaint. The commission will rule on the union complaint by July 1.

Obama Administration Program Spent $10B to Create 355 Jobs Per Year

The Obama administration spent $10 billion to create 355 renewable energy jobs per year, according to testimony offered Tuesday before Congress by a Congressional Research Services expert.

Asked by Rep. Cory Gardner (R., Colo.) “how many jobs were created” in 2009 and 2010 under the 1603 renewable energy grant program authorized by the Obama administration, a CRS specialist in public finance admitted that $10 billion was spent to create 3,666 construction jobs over a two-year period–and only 355 jobs per year going forward.

Dr. Molly Sherlock, the CRS specialist, first said the jobs total would depend on the type of job–and differentiated between “induced,” “direct,” and  ”indirect” jobs–before Gardner asked for a straight number.
