Hallelujah. I for one am sick and tired of paying $50 extra for bags, and God knows what else, only to find that my $230 ticket is really $300. What's worse, some online air travel sites include the fees in the advertised price, some don't. It's a cute little gimmick the airlines came up with, charging us for every little thing they can come up with since they're all in collusion anyway, and they're basically a monopoly industry in this country, where adequate cross country train travel is non-existent (meaning, I have no reasonable alternative to flying to Chicago from DC when the train takes 24 hours and I don't have a car). So kudos to the Obama administration for forcing the airlines to be up front about their fares. Maybe next we can find out how all the airlines magically charge the same fare, to the penny, for the same routes.

Narrative: On 5 January 2012 at 2:19 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Kahlique Lane for a traffic violation and discovered an open warrant for Lane’s arrest. Lane failed to appear on 3 January 2012 for a District Court hearing in a Disorderly Conduct Case.
The deputy arrested Lane and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of a District Court Commissioner. Lane was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $3,000.00 bond.

Georgetown Business Owner Indicted On Failing To Pay Taxes
A grand jury indicted a Georgetown business owner Jan. 3 in connection with failing to pay more than $30,000 in taxes.
George W. Donald, 46, was charged with two felony counts of failing to pay state withholding taxes that were withheld from his employees' wages during 2006 and 2007, said Angela Moffett-Batty, spokesman for the Delaware Division of Revenue. He also was charged with five felony counts of failing to pay over rental use taxes collected from customers of his construction equipment rental business, Delaware Rental, through 2006 and 2010.

Attorneys say Spicer's killer denied fair trial
The appeal process has begun for the man convicted of fatally shooting Georgetown Patrolman Chad Spicer. Defense attorneys say Derrick Powell did not receive a fair trial and his death sentence is unwarranted.
Superior Court Judge T. Henley Graves issued a death sentence for Powell, formerly of Cumberland, Md., May 20, 2011. Police say Powell shot Spicer near the intersection of North King and Rosa streets in Georgetown after a brief car chase Sept. 1, 2009.
Favorable Weather Conditions Allow For Route 54 Paving Work This Weekend
Fenwick Island -- In an effort to move the Route 54 Improvement Project toward completion, the Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that contractor Mumford & Miller, will be doing paving operations this weekend. Unseasonably warm weather will allow a portion of the project to be paved now instead of in the spring.
This chance to take advantage of the opportunity to do paving during the winter will benefit residents and businesses as DelDOT and the contractor push to finish the $8 million project by summer 2012.
Therefore, beginning on Friday, the contractor will be milling a portion of Route 54 from Zion Church Road to Laws Point Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Paving of the same portion of roadway will occur on Saturday and Sunday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with some possible finishing work occurring on Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Intermittent lane closures will be in place and Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be positioned to alert drivers of the work.

Ala. Man Arrested For Starting Fla. Abortion Clinic Fire
(CBS/AP) PENSACOLA, Fla. - Investigators have arrested an Alabama man for starting a fire that gutted a Florida abortion clinic long targeted by violence and protests.
Federal and state officials announced the arrest of 41-year-old Bobby Joe Rogers on Thursday. According to police, Rogers set a blaze that destroyed much of the Pensacola clinic, which has a long history of violence.

Police Use Cadaver Dogs In Search For Missing South Carolina Boy
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Police say they have used cadaver dogs to search a car and home belonging to the South Carolina woman they accuse of repeatedly lying to them about where her 18-month-old son is.
Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said Thursday three search warrants had been executed 22-year-old Zinah Jennings' car and home.
Jennings' mother says she has not seen Jennings' son, Amir, since Thanksgiving.

Report: Missing Texas 14-Year-Old Mistakenly Deported To Colombia
(CBS) DALLAS - A 14-year-old Texas girl who has been missing since 2010 was mistakenly deported to Colombia by immigration agents and is now sitting in a detention facility waiting to come home.
According to CBS affiliate KHOU Jakadrien Turner ran away from home in the fall of 2010 following her parents divorce and the death of her grandfather. She ended up in Houston, where she was arrested for theft. The girl gave police a fake name, which apparently belonged to a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Colombia, who had warrants for her arrest.
Armed DHS Officers Set Up Unannounced ID Checkpoint
Residents of Leesburg, Florida were shocked to see their local Social Security office turned into a random Homeland Security checkpoint Tuesday morning, as DHS officers armed with semiautomatic rifles and accompanied by sniffer dogs checked identifications of locals.
“With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications. And other officers, some with K-9s, sifted through the building,” reports the Daily Commercial.
The activity was part of Operation Shield, an unannounced drill conducted by the DHS’ Federal Protective Service centered around “detecting the presence of unauthorized persons and potentially disruptive or dangerous activities.”
Thomas Milligan, district manager for the Social Security Administration office, said staff were not informed their offices were about to be stormed by armed FPS officers. DHS officials refused to answer questions asked by local media and left with no explanation at noon.

A Florida man who is trying to get a loan modification from Bank of America is worried he may lose his home over an 80 cent mistake.Tom Mudie, 56, arranged a three-month trial period that would allow him to obtain a loan modification for his home in Largo, Fla.
But a slip of the finger on a telephone payment system and he accidentally underpaid one of the trial payments by 80 cents, putting his house in jeopardy of being foreclosed.
