Md. Gives Thumbs Up To Obama School Offer

AYP, Assessment, Graduation Data To Be Released Friday

Maryland is about to accept President Barack Obama's offer to grant waivers to some of the state's schools labeled as failing.
The president's proposal came during a White House press conference last week.
11 News education reporter Tim Tooten said the new development comes on the eve of another state academic report that will show more schools are failing to meet what's called AYP -- adequate yearly progress.

The money raised from the golf tournament goes toward the continued efforts at giving kids the opportunity to enjoy all of what Camp Barnes has to offer.  Camp Barnes, located on Millers Creek, in Frankford, DE, has served the needs of thousands of children from throughout Delaware since 1947. Camp Barnes was originally designed to provide the children who were unable to attend the opportunity to experience life at a summer youth camp. It has remained basically unchanged, providing Delaware children with these outdoor experiences for over 50 years.
The summer camp is an overnight residential camp run by the Delaware State Police and is open to children between the ages of 10 and 13 at no cost to the camper or family.  Camp Barnes accommodates 60 campers per week for 6 weeks. The camp is in session from early July through August.
One of the many positive aspects of Camp Barnes summer camp is the innovative use of adventure based outdoor learning experiences. Camp Barnes has on its grounds an extensive outdoor initiative course with 17 different individual and team building elements.
Some of the many activities campers participate in throughout the week include:
  • Swimming in an Olympic size pool.
  • Kayaking in Millers Creek
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Nature Walk
  • Talent Show
Campers also enjoy their own version of the Olympics, and demonstrations by the State Police K-9, Scuba, and Aviation Units.
With so much to see and do at Camp Barnes, it is easy to see why so many children enjoy their experience. With your help and assistance many other children like them could get their chance.

The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in searching for a woman nicknamed the Sexy Robber, who committed an armed heist in Van Nuys, Calif, on Sept. 19.

The high-heel-clad criminal “posed as a customer and then pulled a gun out of her purse,” according to an LAPD statement. While police are not disclosing the exact location of the robbery, it appears from security camera images to be a jewelry store.

Occupy Wall Street

I will be the first to admit that I faded the whole idea of this “Occupy Wall Street” protest.  I had already seen several failed attempts at protest in NYC come and go and I just sadly assumed the spirit of that once great city had died forever.  I am extraordinarily happy to report that I was wrong.  When I watched some video of police brutality at NYC protests this weekend I was stunned.  Not because the cops acted like some mercenary storm trooper thugs, but because this protest that has started the week before still had momentum!  Check out this link regarding what is going on.  It has two must watch videos.  http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=194965  [9] The first one already has over 400k watches on youtube.  This is the spark I have been waiting for and I am pleased beyond belief that it happened in Manhattan right where it should.  How about this appearance of Cornel West at the protest on Tuesday.  http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/09/cornel-west-at-occupy-wall-str... [10] I am proud of my old home today.  This is a big deal.  The serfs are coming together.  Keep it up.

Most of you reading this right now are thinking that this is interesting but he is exaggerating and this will blow over.  I am here to assure you that it is not and this whole thing is about to grow exponentially as the economy continues to stagnate and people climb the learning curve.  Are you aware that the founder of Salon.com, David Talbot, is publicly calling for an “American Spring?”  This of course is a reference to the Arab Spring, in which revolution swept across North Africa earlier this year and led to the collapse of the Tunisian and Egyptian governments and then major government bribes to the people living in the oil rich kingdoms.  Mr. Talbot writes “In these increasingly hard times, Salon is dedicating itself to an American revival. Our editorial mission will become more explicitly and aggressively populist. We will be publishing more investigative pieces, exposing the shadow dance of power. And both Democratic and Republican targets will be fair game, since both parties are increasingly under the control of the same corporate forces.”  His full piece is here http://www.salon.com/about/american_spring/index.html?story=/about/insid... [11] You need to read it if you want to understand where all of this is headed.  How about journalist Chris Hedges talking about “Occupy Wall Street” http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/09/chris-hedges-occupy-wall-stree...  [12] We the people now understand it is not “rich vs. poor,” businessperson vs. teacher.”  It is serf vs. oligarch.  They are 0.1% and we know what they are up to.  GAME ON.

Congressman Wants to Repeal All Federal Regulations From the Past 20 Years

Alaska’s sole congressman says he wants to eliminate every federal regulation issued since 1991 – a proposal that could touch everything from food and drug safety to banking to health care to oil drilling.

Republican Rep. Don Young told the Anchorage Downtown Rotary Club on Tuesday that he drew the line at 20 years ago “because it crossed party lines and also we were prosperous at that time,” The Anchorage Daily News reported. “And no new regulations until they can justify them.”

"Rebellion Has Arrived In America"

As most of you know, I spend almost as much time studying social changes and geopolitics happening around the world as I do studying markets.  While carefully observing those areas are always important to a macro investor such as myself, when you are smack in the middle of a Fourth Turning they take on an increased level  of importance.  What has shielded the U.S. from a lot of the social strife sweeping the rest of the globe at the moment has been the U.S. dollar’s reserve status since this allows us to print seemingly infinite amounts of paper dollars and shove them down the throats of the rest of the world for their resources.  This keeps the populace fat, happy and most importantly asleep and apathetic.  Well I am pleased to announce that those days are OVER.  The American populace is now in the very beginnings of a state of open peaceful rebellion against the criminal oligarchic mafia that runs the nation through fraud and corruption.  The status quo is likely to become increasingly defensive as a result and may lash out aggressively like a cornered rat, but they cannot and will not win.  They can only really win when they own your mind and that battle has already been lost.  Six months from now the state of rebellion will have moved from just beneath to the surface to the forefront of everyone’s mind.  It will be a peaceful and constitutional rebellion and it will end with new ways of doing things, more freedoms and a very long road toward rebuilding a safe, fair, free and localized society once TPTB’s prison planet grid of control has been torn down forever.

Happy Holidays, and Don't Forget to Vote? GOP Scrambles to Resolve Election Calendar Chaos

The confetti is thrown. The champagne is raised. The New Year has arrived. Time to vote?

The accelerated election schedule may not be that jarring, but it could be close. States pushing up the dates of their primaries in an effort to gain more influence could mean the contests to select a Republican challenger to President Obama would start a full 11 months before the general election.

Even though both political parties tried to avoid a repeat in 2012 of a similar scenario in 2008 by delaying early presidential primaries and caucuses, states are leapfrogging their dates, threatening to push the first Republican contests into the early part of next year.

Now That’s Creepy: Americans Will Blow $7 Billion On Halloween

Our financial state is pretty scary right now, and we’re all watching our spending pretty closely. So what’s the one thing Americans are willing to shell out for in this economy? Costumes, decorations and entertainment designed to scare us even more.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans plan to spend $6.9 billion this year for Halloween. To put that number into context, the same NRF survey found that Americans planned to spend $3.3 billion as recently as 2005.

Urban Salisbury Calls It Quits

Bruce Patterson and Allan Hope announced today that they will be shutting down Urban Salisbury claiming lack of funds.

No Bruce and Allan, its not a lack of funds, it's called accountability. The majority of the City Council, (and let me remind you) and previous Council Members pretty much stated the group has done NOTHING. Even Gary Comegys wanted the group shut down years ago because they couldn't show the City ANYTHING that they have done positive that warrants funding from the taxpayers.

I'm personally glad to see these two out of the BS business of revitalizing Downtown Salisbury and it only takes an instant glance around the entire City to see FOR RENT signs everywhere.

I'll give credit where credit is due, Bruce Patterson actually gave it his all but politics did slow down their progress, yet we cannot point fingers at this new Council. Hey, here's a thought. They'll be going out in style as they will deliver yet another FOR RENT sign in Downtown Salisbury. Rather than taking the funding the Council awarded them and doing what the Council said they had to do with the funding, they will instead act like babies and shut their doors and put several people out of work.

I've been very clean with my words over the past two years but I'm sure you can just imagine what my mind is thinking of Allan Hope right now. The biggest loss will be the bar tabs this group will leave behind.

Why Fewer Young American Jews Share Their Parents' View of Israel

"I'm trembling," my mother says, when I tell her I'm working on an article about how younger and older American Jews are reacting differently to the Palestinians' bid for statehood at the United Nations. I understand the frustrations of the Palestinians dealing with ongoing settlements construction and sympathize with their decision to approach the U.N., but my mom supports President Obama's promise to wield the U.S. veto, sharing his view that a two-state solution can be achieved only through negotiations with Israel.

"This is so emotional," she says as we cautiously discuss our difference of opinion. "It makes me feel absolutely terrible when you stridently voice criticisms of Israel."
