Corporate America Is Robbing American Workers

Along with the staggering theft in broad daylight of Americans’ assets that has occurred in the course of the ongoing financial crisis, as taxpayers funded multi-trillion bank bailouts and banks stole homes through foreclosures with the help of fraudulent paperwork, American companies have also been picking the pockets of workers more directly.

This second round of paycheck theft has come in the form of stolen productivity gains.

Historically, the relatively high and rising standard of living of American workers--both blue and white-collar--which once gave the US one of the highest standards of living in the world, has come courtesy of rising productivity, which has allowed US companies to produce more goods with less labor, and to then pass some of the enhanced profits on to workers in the form of higher wages, without having to raise prices. That has been important because, when higher wages are financed by higher prices, it tends to be a kind of zero-sum game: higher wages cancelled out by inflation.

But beginning in 2000, the old system already creaky, broke down. (It must be noted that this system was never the result of the capitalists' largesse, but rather was because of a tighter labor market and, critically, a powerful labor movement.)

FBI Raids Business In Operation Payback Probe

The FBI has raided a Texas business and seized a computer while investigating the Operation Payback hackers, who temporarily froze the web sites of Mastercard, Visa, and other businesses that cut services to WikiLeaks, according to an affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun. The FBI began the investigation earlier this month after PayPal reported the hackers attacked its site. PayPal, Mastercard, and several other firms had canceled services to WikiLeaks after the whistleblower site began leaking secret US diplomatic cables. The FBI originally told Truthout that it could not confirm if it was investigating the hackers.

Former President Of Israel Convicted Of Rape

Moshe Katsav, the former President of Israel, was found guilty of rape and other sex crimes Thursday by a panel of three judge's who said the Katsav's testimony was "riddled with lies," Reuters reports. Katsav had been accused by his aide of raping her when he was a cabinet minister in the 1990s, and sexually harassing and molesting two other women during his tenure as president from 2002 to 2007. He had vehemently denied the charges.

Vets Have Trouble Finding Jobs

Veterans of the wars in Afghanistan are returning home and having more trouble finding work than other Americans, according to The Washington Post. The sluggish economy has kept unemployment rates hovering around 10 percent in recent years, but on average, more veterans have been unemployed than other Americans since 2005.

Spat Between EPA And Texas Leaves Industry Free To Pollute

A legal battle between the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas over pollution control is allowing refineries and factories to spew more toxic waste into the air and waterways than is federally acceptable, according to The Associated Press. The EPA recently intervened in Texas over pollution emission control and permitting, sparking a back-and-forth battle between the federal agency and the Texas state government. Texas and the EPA have disagreed over pollution regulation for years, and state officials and politicians argue the EPA is playing political games and violating the state's rights. Federal regulators say they are only upholding national standards and current emissions levels in Texas are harming the environment.

Corporate Executives Asked Obama To Authorize A "Tax Holiday" For Their Firms, And More ...

At a meeting at the White House earlier this month, corporate executives queried President Obama about authorizing a "tax holiday" that would allow their firms to tap into more than $1 trillion, a bulk of which is socked away in offshore tax havens, Bloomberg reported. "The money - including hundreds of billions in profits that US companies attribute to overseas subsidiaries to avoid taxes - is supposed to be taxed at up to 35 percent when it's brought home, or 'repatriated,'" the Bloomberg report says. "What nobody's saying publicly is that US multinationals are already finding legal ways to avoid that tax."

Mumbai Case Offers Rare Picture Of Ties Between Pakistan’s Intelligence Service, Militants

The confession by a key operative and other evidence gathered by U.S. authorities provides a rare look at the dealings between Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate and Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani militant group. The questions remains: How much did senior officials know about the attack?

DART Garners Award At A Region Best Human Resources Departments Ceremony

Wilmington -- The 2010 Human Resources (HR) Department of the Year Awards dinner and presentation was held on November 18, 2010 at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. The HR Department of the Year Awards recognizes Delaware Valley human resources departments, who have demonstrated service excellence and measurable success for their organizations. The Rosen Group of Voorhees, NJ is the premier corporate sponsor for the HR Department of the Year Awards along with other sponsors including the Philadelphia Human Resources Planning Society.
Awards for excellence were given in several categories and the Technology award was given to the Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC). The DTC HR Department was also recognized for being a HR Department of the Year nominee.

The DTC HR Systems and Technical Team work to ensure data integrity, increase performance, and streamline processes. The following award winning technology enhancements were successfully implemented which also capitalized on the products that DTC already owns, and provided costs savings.

Electronic Drivers License Verification; The electronic license validation was necessitated because it is important that DTC have safe and valid drivers on the road. Driver information from the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) records were updated periodically and it was realized that DTC could have drivers with suspended licenses. These issues gave the DTC Systems team an opportunity to improve and sync driver information with actual data from the DMV. DTC decided to tap into the DMV system to validate and sync our employee records. On the basis of this information, reports to the DTC Safety Department were generated to warn them of potential unsafe drivers and suspended drivers. The Safety Section uses this information for driver education, training and certification. The report is also used to inform the department about potential license renewals that might need to be addressed.

Query Folder Access; With the need for end users to run reports from their desktop, the HR Systems team worked with departments to identify the reports needed, wrote queries, tested, setup security, and trained end users. The reports were written with prompt fields so the end user can change the criteria as needed. The value gained was that end users can now run the reports themselves and DTC could capitalize on what it already owns.

Succession Planning; The HR Systems team put together an analysis of what PeopleSoft had to offer for employee succession planning and identifying DTC future personnel needs. A Succession Planning demo was created with a systems standpoint. A committee was put together with a representative from each department who would work within their department to identify the key positions, answer a series of questions, reviewed the job description, and provided the specific competencies of the job. Those competencies were setup in HR PeopleSoft.

Health & Safety Module Implementation; To aid the DTC Safety & Security team, the Health & Safety Module was enabled to record and track incidents, injuries, illnesses, and accidents. The module also tracked physicals, dangerous occurrences, and workers compensation claims management in HR PeopleSoft while reducing costs of manual spreadsheets. The entire Safety Section will now have access to all data that will be up to date, and the capability to run reports. HR PeopleSoft will also track vehicle/equipment and all individuals involved in incidents/accidents for statistical reporting. The value gained is the ability to track vehicle/equipment repair costs associated with an incident/accident, gain time by not having to manually track all information in excel spreadsheets and utilize what DTC already owns.

DTC Executive Director Stephen Kingsberry offering congratulations to the HR team for their award said, This award for the systems and technologies we have implemented is more evidence of the DART First State commitment to manage ourselves more efficiently and cost effectively. By improving our systems internally we are also able to provide even better and safer transit services for the riding public.

First They Threaten To Rape My Wife, Murder Our Grandson & Now This!

Some time ago Tom McGuire went out and ordered FUJA tags for his vehicle and proudly drove around with them. After my contacting the state of Maryland, they ultimately forced him to turn in those tags and he is now bragging about how his new tags say, "JASA15". By the way, he also bragged about how these new tags were supposed to arrive THURSDAY.

You remember Tom McGuire and his wife/girlfriend Nikki. They're the couple from Delmar that wished Brooke Mulford dead. He was running for Mayor and she was running for city Council. They sent me a letter begging me to publish it and when I did they freaked out.

For almost 7 years now I have given my time to this community as well as my finances. What these Anti Albero Bloggers are doing to threaten lives and encourage attacks against me and my family and now our property must be stopped.

I am offering a $1,000.00 REWARD for the capture and conviction of the individual who just did this last night or early this morning. The Salisbury Police are reviewing their videos of the traffic and perhaps get an image of the individual who did this but if you know who it was, $1,000.00 is YOURS.

Let's hope Matt Maciarello reads between the lines and recognizes that violence will be next. I mean, how badly does it have to slap everyone in the face before they recognize this is just too mental.

SOME ALL AMERICAN CITY WE HAVE HERE!!!!

Power Outages

Hello,
Wondering if you have heard anything or can find out about the power outages in the West O.C. and Berlin area? I heard they could be out till tomorrow.
Thanks!

Oh Deer!

Joe,

I don't know where to turn and I want to apologize for bothering you with the problem that I am having.  Almost two years ago my husband and brother in law bagged two nice deer that they wanted to have mounted.  They took the deer to Jess Davis, Field of Dreams Taxidermy, which is in Allen, MD.  He was close to our home and his price was reasonable.  The guys were told over and over that he was working on it and that it should be ready soon.  Well it is now December 2010 and they still don't have the mounts.  We finally got him on the phone tonight and he told us that he was robbed and that my husband and brother in law were named as suspects.  This is the first that we heard of them being suspects.  My husband has talked to DNR several times with no prevail.  We have paid for the mounts in full in the amount of $225 for each mount.  We have told him before that we would take a loss on the money we just wanted the antlers.  My husband bagged the deer with our then 6 year old daughter.  This was trophy was very special to him because our daughter was with him when he got it and it was a record deer at that time.  We're just wondering what our options are at this time, if you could suggest anything.  We don't have much money so we don't know what our next move should be.

Like I said I hate to bother you with our problem, but I was hoping that you could help point me in the right direction to help resolve this issue.  Attached are a few pictures of the deer that both my husband and brother in law got in December 2008.

Thank you,
Melanie Griffin

O'Donnell Blames Disgruntled Former Aides For Funds Probe

Delaware Republican allegedly used part of $7.3 million on rent, personal expenses

Failed U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell said Thursday that accusations she misspent spent campaign funds are politically motivated and stoked by two disgruntled former campaign workers, defending herself a day after the disclosure of a criminal investigation into her spending.

The Delaware Republican appeared on several network morning shows after it was revealed that federal authorities have launched the probe to determine whether she broke the law by using campaign money to pay personal expenses.

"There's been no impermissible use of campaign funds whatsover, O'Donnell told ABC's "Good Morning America."

O'Donnell, the tea party favorite who scored a surprise primary victory this year only to lose badly in the November general election, suggested the accusations were being driven by her political opponents on the right and left, including Vice President Joe Biden.

"You have to look at this whole thug-politic tactic for what it is," she said Thursday.

Revealed: Hawaii Governor's Own Hidden Past

Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie has a radical history that ties him to a U.S.-based socialist organization with deep connections to President Obama and to a "Marxist-socialist" bloc in Congress.

Abercrombie in recent days placed himself at the center of an eligibility dispute surrounding Obama's birth documentation, telling reporters he is deeply troubled by questions that cast doubt on the president's eligibility for office.

"What bothers me is that some people who should know better are trying to use this for political reasons," Abercrombie told the Los Angeles Times last week. "Maybe I'm the only one in the country that could look you right in the eye right now and tell you, 'I was here when that baby was born.'"

There is no evidence to suggest Abercrombie was present at Obama's birth. He has acknowledged that he didn't see Obama's parents with their newborn son at any hospital, although he said he remembers seeing Obama as a child with his parents at social events.

Abercrombie has been described as an early friend of Obama's parents when they attended the University of Hawaii. He previously told the Chicago Tribune he was part of a group of graduate students at the University of Hawaii along with Barack Obama Sr. and Dunham who spent weekends listening to jazz, drinking beer and debating politics and world affairs.

Abercrombie is tied to the Marxist-oriented Democratic Socialists of America.
