Climategate E-mails Sweep America, May Scuttle Barack Obama's Cap And Trade Laws

Just a few considerations in addition to previous remarks about the explosion of the East Anglia Climategate e-mails in America. The reaction is growing exponentially there. Fox News, Barack Obama’s Nemesis, is now on the case, trampling all over Al Gore’s organic vegetable patch and breaking the White House windows. It has extracted some of the juiciest quotes from the e-mails and displayed them on-screen, with commentaries. Joe Public, coast-to-coast, now knows, thanks to the clowns at East Anglia’s CRU, just how royally he has been screwed.

Senator James Inhofe’s Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works has written to all the relevant US Government agencies, acquainting them with the nature of the e-mails. But the real car crash for Obama is on Capitol Hill where it is now confidently believed his Cap and Trade climate legislation is toast. It was always problematic; but with a growing awakening to the scale of the scientific imposture sweeping the world, as far as the Antipodes, the clever money is on Cap and Trade laws failing to pass, with many legislators sceptical and the mid-term elections looming ever closer.

At the more domestic level, the proposed ban on incandescent light bulbs, so supinely accepted in this servile state of Britain, is now provoking a huge backlash in America. US citizens do not like the government coming into their houses and putting their lights out. Voters may not understand the cut and thrust of climate debate at the technical level, but they know when the Man from Washington has crossed their threshold uninvited.

The term that Fox News is now applying to the Climategate e-mails is “game-changer”. For the first time, Anthropogenic Global Warming cranks are on the defensive, losing their cool and uttering desperate mantras such as “You can be sceptical, not denial.” Gee, thanks, guys. In fact we shall be whatever we want to be, without asking your permission.

At this rate, Copenhagen is going to turn into a comedy convention with the real world laughing at these liars. Now is the time to mount massive resistance to the petty tyrants and hit them where it hurts – in the wallet. Further down the line there may be, in many countries, a question of criminal prosecution of anybody who has falsified data to secure funds and impose potentially disastrous fiscal restraints on the world in deference to a massive hoax. It’s a new world out there, Al, and, as you may have noticed, the climate is very cold indeed.

The Obama Administration Suddenly Discovers The Constitution

The Justice Department has concluded that the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress banned the government from providing money to the group.

On Oct. 1, President Obama signed into law a spending bill that included a provision that said no taxpayer money — including money authorized by previous legislation — could be “provided to” the group or its affiliates.

A Housing and Urban Development Department lawyer asked the Justice Department whether the new law meant that pre-existing contracts with Acorn should be broken. And in a memorandum signed Oct. 23 and posted online this week, David Barron, the acting assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel said the government should continue to make payments to Acorn as required by such contracts.

Requiring the government to cancel contracts with a specifically named entity — “including even in cases where performance has already been completed but payment has not been rendered” — would raise constitutional concerns best avoided by interpreting the law differently, says Mr. Barron.

The Constitution prohibits “bills of attainder” — legislation intended to punish specific people or groups. Acorn has filed a lawsuit arguing that the statute banning the government from providing it money amounts to a bill of attainder.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKE

Happy Thanksgiving (or I guess since it's 1:12am happy belated Thanksgiving and now Brooke’s 5th birthday)!

I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about how thankful I am that Brooke is with us this Thanksgiving... How a year ago on this day Brooke was celebrating her 4th birthday... How everything was so normal and worry free and having no idea that this wicked beast was spreading throughout Brooke's tiny little body. My life will never be the same as it was last Thanksgiving. In spite of the pain & fear of this past year there are still so many blessings. I thought that I knew everything there was to know about Brooke but I had no idea how amazing she truly is. I honestly admire her more than any person I have ever met. Did you ever think you could meet a person that could find complete and utter joy in absolutely anything and everything? Someone who could find joy in having cancer, going through chemo, having their hair fall out, needing hearing aids and glasses? If you're blessed to know Brooke then you have. Brooke has never met a person she doesn't like...She does not see people by the color of their skin, their age, their abilities or disabilities, the clothes they wear, how rich or poor they are. She looks at the beauty in everything around her…she is mesmerized by the colors in the sky when the sun is setting…she thinks that every leaf on the ground is such a treasure and every broken seashell on the beach is worth holding onto. She learned the entire Lord’s Prayer at 3 years old (I didn’t think it was even possible but boy did she prove me wrong). She is always thinking of others -don’t get me wrong my little girl loves getting gifts! – but I can’t tell you how many times she has opened a present and said maybe we should give this to our hospital ER (PRMC) because the kids there don’t have toys to play with or someone gives her money and she says that she would like to donate it to her research fund (what 4 yr old says that? I guess for that matter -how many 4 yr olds have a research fund?)…Don’t be surprised if you are ever visiting her at our house and she won’t let you leave without taking something of hers with you (even something she treasures)! She prays every night from her heart…she prays for her friends at home and for specific kids at CHOP (some she has met once or twice and some she has only heard me talk about but she remembers each name and prays for them and their families), she prays for things like “Nana getting home safely” after she has come up to visit for a couple of hours, she prays for Asher (her buddy Greyson’s doggie that passed away last month), she still prays for Dr. Alvarado and his family since he passed away in August. She thinks about things so deeply and so honestly and with such wisdom. I hope that 20 years from today Brooke is looking back through all these journal entries and guestbook messages and knows how truly special and loved she is and always has been. God Bless you my sweet little girl!

And God bless my family & friends, church, community and all of the amazing people that He has brought into our lives this past year. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and I am so thankful for the wonderful, brilliant and caring doctors, nurses, and of course child life specialists at CHOP that are the reason Brooke loves being at CHOP so much.

Blessings to all,

Amy

105,137 Traffic Rank in US

Thank You Mr. Albero

I speak for all residents of Salisbury in applauding your diligent effort in helping to turn the City government around. While that may not be happening as fast as desired, there has been real change from this time a year ago, for which you are responsible in no small measure.

Especially important: your assistance in preventing Barrie Tilghman from being reelected as mayor and keeping Bubba Comegys out of that office. Another significant public service: exposing John Robinson, Chiefy Webster and Jonathan Taylor for what they are, which needs no description thanks to this blog.

Let’s hope that your information postings about the candidates for fire chief has the appropriate effect on the selection process.

There are many other matters – too numerous to mention specifically – for which we say “Thanks”! And now it’s time to stuff a turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

Today is a day for giving thanks while spending quality time with friends and loved ones. That being said, I'm taking some time off to do just that.

Albero 1 Robinson 0

If you want to know the details Joe will be at the Fountains Lagoon Bar from 6 til 10 tonight. Judge Hayman denied Robinson his peace order and advised him to rethink his civil suit. The 1st Amendment is still in order.

Did You Get Your Pumpkin?

It might be hard to make pumpkin pie this year. "Soggy fields" and "fungus," the perennial banes of the pumpkin farmer, have left tons of pumpkins rotting in the field and created the very real possibility that there may be a shortage of canned pumpkin this season.

The problem is worse because 2008 was also a bad pumpkin harvest, which means there is little backstock to rely on.

We call upon Obama to release the Strategic Pumpkin Reserves.

If you can't get any canned pumpkin, you can also go to your farmer's market and buy some butternut squash. Roast it in the oven and use just like the good ol' canned stuff.

Firefighter Catches Heat For Anti-Obama Stickers

A firefighter says he is in hot water with his department after his supervisors noticed his anti-Obama bumper stickers and banned him from parking inside the firehouse based on his political views.

"It's freedom of speech as far as I'm concerned," Hartford, Conn., firefighter Mike Di'Giacomo told WFSB-TV. "This is my personal vehicle."

Di'Giacomo has worked for the fire department for 10 years. He said a supervisor noticed his stickers and told him he could not park his SUV inside the firehouse, something his fellow firefighters are allowed to do. The bumper stickers read:

"Somewhere in Kenya, a village is missing its idiot."

"I'll keep my guns, freedom, & money ... you can keep the 'change!'"

"Obama Bin Lyin'. Impeach Now!"

Delegates Conway and Mathias Visit AFP in Worcester County

Tuesday night, just before Thanksgiving, the Ocean Pines Community Center was a buzz with activity. Our State Delegates; Jim Mathias and Norm Conway both made presentations and took about 20 questions from a a large crowd of approximately120 people from Americans for Prosperity, Worcester Chapter.
First, I want to give Mathias and Conway props for coming out to this town hall style meeting and spending over an hour and a half answering some pretty tough questions. Given that the economy and jobs top most people's list of concerns in the poor economic climate of the state of Maryland, folks are more engaged than ever. It was impressive to see such a large, informed group, regarding state legislation.

Too many legislators choose to shield themselves from their constituency these days, which is more wrong than I can point out in this short article. In contrast; Conway and Mathias did show up. They should be commended for that.

Now, I wonder if we can can Kratovil on the calender?

Anyway, as you may know these two delegates are democrats and AFP has been accused by some confused people to be some republican front group. If this were true, these two gentleman would not have been invited nor would they have attended tonight's meeting. AFP is a FISCAL conservative group, and these principled policies just happened to conflict with the current state of over spending, no accountability, and bad business policies in Maryland and in this country.

Steve Lind, Worcester County's AFP Chair opened the meeting and AFP's state director; David Swartz said a few words before The delegates were introduced in front of the interested crowd.

Mathias kicked things off reminding folks of how proud we should be of Worcester county, it's beach resort, it's local hospital, and the services the state has provided. He defended Governor O'Malley, by saying O'Malley had already reduced the states budget by 4.6 billion and "in the last fiscal budget, the governor cut billions." Mathias said that there are "a thousand sets of fingerprints of that got us where we are today." He admitted that he did "vote for the tax bill."

Conway gave an overview of his history on the eastern shore, having grown up here and being a teacher, a school vice principle, a principle, and in local government before he became a state delegate, now serving on the Appropriations Committee. He said "people ask if I'm a conservative or a liberal. I say I'm a mix of both. When it comes to seniors I'm probably a liberal." Regarding the entitlements they have paid into all their life for Medicare. "As for the young people, I thank God for the teachers I had." saying we need to provide young people "with every opportunity for the 21st century." "We have rights but we must be responsible" he said. "so, when it comes to young people, I guess I'm a liberal too." Conway went on to say that investments are what people put in with the time, efforts and their money" and that "people have invested in programs and services and those are also investments."

After their brief statements; there were many questions from the audience specific to local spending, cap and trade, the CAFO legislation constricting jobs, the poultry industry, term limits, the Maryland millionaires tax, campaign funding, the issues with the Chesapeake bay, taxes, job initiatives, and spending. There were some contentious moments. I can't say for sure that there were any decisive answers. I got a bit caught up in all the goings on to make note of it all, but there surely will be articles in the local papers in the coming days with more of their perspective on the Q&A. I heard many folks complain that various questions were not answered, directly, but that's sadly politics for you, I guess?

Rest assured however, we did video tape it so the record will be available once uploaded to YouTube. We'll be sure to pass it along here.

Funny thing is, Mr. Conway was my elementary school vice principle, way back when. I didn't think so at that time, but he really is a nice man.

I never really knew Mathias, even though I had a condo during his tenure as mayor in Ocean City. I had the unusual opportunity to sit down with him tonight, after the meeting over a beer, and I really did enjoy the conversation.

I can't say I don't like these gentlemen, because I do. We just have a fundamental difference of opinion of the role of government in our lives. Unfortunately they have been a part of growing it, whereby people like myself think it needs to be rolled back. Jim didn't think we were too far apart on the issues but it now comes time for due diligence and to check voting records for those that seek to retain their seats or run for higher office.

What will happen in 2012 remains to be seen. I have some insight on these man's plans that I'll detail at a later date along with their voting records and you can decide.

A Stimulus Pool For Small Businesses Runs Dry

A pot of stimulus money set aside for small business loans has run out, CNN Money reports.

Congress gave the Small Business Administration $375 million to help small businesses get loans in a tough credit market. That money was used to waive the fees usually charged to banks that want the SBA to guarantee loans they make to small businesses. The money also went to raise the cap on how much of the loan the SBA would guarantee, to 90 percent of the loan. Despite the incentives, CNN Money reports that the number of bank loans backed by the SBA in the year that ended Sept. 30 still fell by a third over the previous year.

An organization that describes itself as “the nation’s principal voice for the medical group practice profession” has warned that the government risks “squandering” the billions of stimulus dollars set aside for health information technology. ModernHealthcare.com reports that the Medical Group Management Association sent a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services warning that “an inappropriate definition of meaningful use and inefficient use of the program will … result in the needless squandering of resources and significant disruption to the nation care system.” Health care providers can qualify for the estimated $34 billion in federal stimulus reimbursements for health IT by showing that they have electronic health-record systems installed, and showing that those systems are being used in a “meaningful manner.” But the government has yet to fully define what that means.
